Gentry TD against Nebraska in 2nd Quarter
Sorry if that already been discussed, but I am re-watching the game right now. I noticed that on Gentry's TD in the middle of the second quarter, Shea ran up to high-five Gentry in the end zone, and Gentry gave him a little "fake-high-five-you-suck-chump-no-love-for-you" thing. Probably no big deal, but what was that all about?

It's on Ace's one frame at a time post on front page

I think it's most likely Gentry still being mad about being moved from QB to TE and now he holds a grudge against all of the QBs.
It's a major fracture in the locker room that is going to tear the team apart at some point.

Sounds like ESPN coverage. Or the Free Press. Actually, I wouldn't put it past the Detroit News, either.
September 25th, 2018 at 5:39 PM ^
Or Mike Valenti

“You’re tearing me apart, Shea!”
—Zach Gentry, probably.

Oh, hi Mark.
September 25th, 2018 at 3:37 PM ^
Anyway, how’s your sex life?
September 25th, 2018 at 10:23 PM ^
Hahaha, what a story, Mark!
September 25th, 2018 at 1:14 PM ^
I loved all the Nebraska folks - team, coaches, fans - for coming to Ann Arbor. Please visit again soon, so we can beat the living shit out of your weak ass, slow and pathetic team again.
Welcome back to the Big Ten, Frosty...

From my time at the Nebraska game a few years ago, they showed nothing but class, unlike this comment.
September 25th, 2018 at 4:02 PM ^
Sitting next to several fans at the game I would also echo the same comment. Much better than so many of our rival fanbases.
September 25th, 2018 at 4:09 PM ^
Same here. They embrace their reputation for niceness. There are worse things.
I did hear some whining about the late flag on the facemask, after it was shown on the scoreboard, as well as the safety. But it had to be a tough day for them. Worst halftime deficit in their history.
September 26th, 2018 at 6:23 AM ^
With OSU and MSU fans, that should be no big trick.
September 25th, 2018 at 5:23 PM ^
Their fanbase is known for being classy and gracious towards opposing fans. They pride themselves on it. There's a sign at Memorial Stadium addressing visiting fans that says, "You'll never lose in a nicer place." I went there for the 2012 Nebraska game and my experience was overwhelmingly positive (aside from the outcome of the game). We were approached by random people on the street who thanked us for visiting and wished us a safe trip back. None of the fans trash talked or cursed at us. Even the drunk ones were happy drunks.
That's part of the reason why I think they were an excellent addition to the B1G. Their fanbase is a model for others around the country. Respect.

I've had the same experience with Husker fans and Iowa fans. Been to both locations with my maize and blue attire and been treated great...win or lose.
Now, OSU, MSU...not so much. Their fans can kiss my ass. Absolutely terrible people. I actually had a guy spit on my 9 year old son at MSU...what kind of asshole spits on a 9 year old?
Stay classy Sparty.
September 25th, 2018 at 8:59 PM ^
The kind that dont have enough teeth to hold back the incessant flow of saliva from their winter green Grizzly-stuffed lower lip. IE; Staee fans.
September 25th, 2018 at 10:15 PM ^
Sparty guy spit on your 9 year old son? Damn, I hope you knocked his teeth down his throat!!
September 25th, 2018 at 10:59 PM ^
I was "escorted" out of the shithole they call a stadium. I'm sure spitter guy had some difficulty spitting for a few days due to his jacked up lip.
I shouldn't trash all Sparty fans. A guy and (I think) his wife vouched for my reason for busting the drunk idiots lip.
What pissed me off even more was they kicked me and my boy out, but let spitter boy stay! Usher guy told me he was cutting me a break because I could be arrested for assault! I couldn't get him to understand that spitting on a person (especially a little kid!) is considered assault.
Over 20 years ago and the memory still ticks me off. My kids still tease the old man for getting kicked out of a game. Thankfully they grew up to hate Sparty too.

"Thankfully"? That statement implies that your children's hatred of Sparty was some happy coincidence, whereas to me, it sounds to me like your raised your children correctly. Take some credit.

Really? Shea stole his snackpak from his lunch pale on Friday before the game, and Gentry was still upset about it.
September 25th, 2018 at 4:14 PM ^
I heard it was a Fruit Rollup. One of us has a bad source.
September 25th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
It's almost as if friends mess around with each other on occasion.
September 25th, 2018 at 1:38 PM ^
Weird of FauxMo to make a board post to admit that he doesn't have any friends.

September 25th, 2018 at 1:19 PM ^
I bet it has something to do with those choreographed endzone celebrations that we shouldn't put too much stock into.
September 27th, 2018 at 5:22 PM ^
It's strange that people think it's anything other than that. Michigan players are not the only one who do that.
September 25th, 2018 at 1:19 PM ^
Real tall guys and relatively short QBs are the Hatfields and McCoys of athletics.
September 25th, 2018 at 1:19 PM ^
This was a great moment. It was one of those "messin' with your friends" thing, like jokingly being a jerk. I'm pretty sure you can see Shea smiling the entire time. It really shows the rapport and chemistry he's built with his teammates.
I loved it.
September 25th, 2018 at 1:28 PM ^
I don't think it was a big deal, and was kind of funny, but it didn't look like Patterson "got the joke." He kind of followed after him for a minute until it appeared to occur to him that Gentry really was not going to give him a five of any kind and then he kind of walked away, confused like. I think it was intended as a joke but did end up looking kind of awkward. Just my perception of it.
September 25th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
Au contraire! I interpreted Patterson's chase as a jest, not an earnest attempt to collect his missed high five. Something about his run read as being in on the joke.
September 25th, 2018 at 1:54 PM ^
No, Shea was smiling and laughing about it as they ran to the sideline. He got the joke and enjoyed it.
September 25th, 2018 at 3:13 PM ^
It looked to me like they planned it. Shea made a big deal of holding his hand out there well before Gentry would be ready to make it stand out a bit. I loved it.
September 25th, 2018 at 4:12 PM ^
"I enjoy inside jokes. I hope to be part of one some day."
September 25th, 2018 at 1:24 PM ^
I think he hates him, it's the only possible explanation.
The better question is how Metellus got reception in the stadium to make all those phone calls DURING THE GAME?? Probably no big deal but what was that all about?
September 25th, 2018 at 1:27 PM ^
Almost definitely involves an impermissible benefit. Better get the NCAA on it.
September 25th, 2018 at 1:30 PM ^
Who is this "Metellus" you speak of? I believe you mean Martellus??? Probably him and Gary Rashan have special phones to use during the game.
September 25th, 2018 at 2:19 PM ^
You might be thinking of Delvin Bush, perhaps even Caesar Ruez or one of those guys.
(Tim Brando is now Tom Brandon after listening to that telecast)
September 25th, 2018 at 3:45 PM ^
Martellus Wallace?!? That’s all you had to saaaayyyyy!
September 25th, 2018 at 5:08 PM ^
You mean Martellus?/s
September 25th, 2018 at 1:27 PM ^
Better question....how did Chase not die after he ripped his own heart out and ate it?
September 25th, 2018 at 1:32 PM ^
This is Michigan, fer God's sake!!! The engineering and medical schools are top notch!!
September 25th, 2018 at 1:32 PM ^
Well after he ate the heart it went back to the heart place that's why you eat hearts duh
September 25th, 2018 at 1:33 PM ^
Didn't you see the MGoBlog banner? He's a cyborg.
September 25th, 2018 at 3:05 PM ^
This picture of him post-game proves it.
September 25th, 2018 at 1:30 PM ^
Ignoring QB high fives is what great football teams do.
