It’s only going to get worse as the population grows.  Jobs will be harder to come by as well as automation and AI eliminate many jobs, combined with more job seekers.  Makes me worry for my children.

12/04/2018 - 9:40am A few got hurt in the OSU…

A few got hurt in the OSU game.  Maybe he's thinking some of those will still be injured.

12/03/2018 - 8:15pm Agreed, i've stopped…

Agreed, i've stopped watching Bama/Clemson.  This year I might watch some ND since they are a newcomer, but if they are out I probably won't watch the other 2 games.

The format has basically brought it to being almost always the same teams.  Bama because they are that good.  Clemson/Oklahoma because everyone else in their league is awful and if they win the conference and play cupcakes out of conference they are in almost every year.  And 1 wildcard (georgia, ND, washington, etc.) who actually played a tough schedule and managed to make it through with a valid "resume".  And once those teams are set, the recruits go to only those universities, making the rich just get richer.

Boring.

When it was only 2 teams, the standard was so high that it kept it interesting and gave some variety.

QB feels even to me.  Shea is a better runner, Haskins a better pocket passer.

11/21/2018 - 12:36pm This year we have been…

This year we have been playing more zone than the past couple, and i'm thinking this game may be the reason why.  They burned us on crossing patterns last year, and dropping a linebacker or two into those short zones can combat those routes.  Although we didn't seem to have it figured out against Indiana, I'm hoping we were just keeping the solution hidden so that OSU wouldn't have a week to plan for it.

Also will be interesting to see what kind of matchups they try to set up and how we handle those.

I dunno, Couch could end up getting burned if he goes to Lansing.

PSU fans next to us stormed out mid play during the pick 6.

I fear the same but you can have Bush spy and I like Bush's chances there.  He spied Lewerke and they gave up on running him.

We did kind of copy sparty in that regard...

10/29/2018 - 6:20pm Really well done.  I couldn…

Really well done.  I couldn't tell you the first difference between a Drevno line or Warinner line besides the results, so things like this are useful.

10/26/2018 - 11:07am I'll be rooting for sparty,…

I'll be rooting for sparty, which is quite unusual for me.  If they lose, they may likely throw in the towel against OSU.  But if they can get healthy and get some confidence, they could beat OSU and have us clinch the division before the final week.

That said, if they lose I will still be quite happy.

I'll be rooting against PSU.  Hoping the players lose confidence in the coaches and are ready to break when we play them.

10/25/2018 - 3:31pm How exactly do you define …

How exactly do you define "toxic culture"? Is there like 1 definition that we could all compare this situation against?  Or is it like "toxic masculinity" where it can be whatever the author determines fits the narrative?  Not saying Maryland is in the right here, but feels like a little too much emphasis placed on one phrase.  The report does lay out quite a few areas where people fell short of what should have been done.

Regardless, I think you cut him and start clean.  Better for everyone.

10/24/2018 - 6:11pm Reprimanded for calling it…

Reprimanded for calling it like it is.  Seems stupid since the big ten basically said they agree with what Harbaugh said.

10/24/2018 - 1:04pm The 3rd and long statistic…

The 3rd and long statistic has surprised me this year.  It would be nice to let patterson get a little more aggresive on those down.

10/24/2018 - 10:34am When he doesn't throw it, he…

When he doesn't throw it, he can sometimes get pretty good yardage with his feet, so it's not like it's a total loss either.

Given the defense, i'm OK with the conservative play.  And even if he doesn't have gaudy stats, leading a team to the CFP with great efficiency should be plenty to catch the eyes of NFL scouts.  He's already shown he can put up 400 yard games at Ole Miss when asked to do so.

Despite his income, I believe it was documented that he had some financial troubles. Plus, his future earnings potential has taken a hit recently.  I can see making the decision he did.

10/23/2018 - 1:58pm Turner and Samuels both…

Turner and Samuels both looked good in the carries they've gotten this season and we know what Evans can do.  I think it'll come down to who can also pass block.

10/23/2018 - 10:26am it's legit if we can beat…

it's legit if we can beat Rutgers and Indiana (at home).  So yeah it's pretty much legit.

10/23/2018 - 9:41am I'd be OK with this scenario…

I'd be OK with this scenario.  If we win in Indy, we'd be at 11-2, Big10 champs and going to the rose bowl with an excellent chance to win there.  Obviously prefer the CFP and beating OSU, but that would be a very successful season compared to the last 10 years.

10/22/2018 - 1:48pm He's gotta be incognito or…

He's gotta be incognito or else some federal marshalls might find him.

Maybe even he realizes how awful MSU is?

10/19/2018 - 10:47am It's not just that nobody…

It's not just that nobody needed to run on them.  It's that the teams they played love to throw and were having success doing so.  So they ran even less.

That said, they are still a very good run defense.  Maybe just not #1.

10/17/2018 - 4:04pm Anyone else think we need to…

Anyone else think we need to get Winovich to put on the Murderwolv mask to end that hype video of him they play in the stadium?  The one where she's screaming at the camera like he's a werewolf or something?  We need that for the PSU game...

10/02/2018 - 3:48pm Tough to put a lot of stock…

Tough to put a lot of stock into that.  They cite the fact that we don't give up many pressures on passing downs as a positive, but that doesn't really take into account the fact that much of our passes the first couple games were quick passes to avoid the possibility of any pressure at all.

You have to go based on something, but context can change the numbers quite a bit.

10/02/2018 - 3:06pm If the Miles Bridges…

If the Miles Bridges investigation took 2 hours, what makes you think this one would take more than 30 minutes?

10/01/2018 - 10:08am I feel like this should be…

I feel like this should be updated each week, posted and copy the big 10 each week, maybe the BTN crew.  Make it publicly known.  Michigan may not be able to realistically ask for an explanation, so it may take some work to get it noticed by someone who matters.

09/29/2018 - 11:46pm We get holding called on us…

We get holding called on us regularly.  I think there was a thread last winter that had statistics on holding calls since Harbaugh arrived.  We had half as many calls go our way as any other team in the league, despite consistently having a top notch D line.  That data pretty much proved it.

09/25/2018 - 3:13pm It looked to me like they…

It looked to me like they planned it.  Shea made a big deal of holding his hand out there well before Gentry would be ready to make it stand out a bit.  I loved it.

09/21/2018 - 9:54pm Terrible situation but this…

Terrible situation but this response makes me want to forgive them. Crap happens and it’s terrible, but judging by the list of numerous schools where similar things happened it’s not like this is unique.  But to so frankly own up to the error shows they have remorse and some character.

Contrast this to MSU who denied, deflected, delayed, got political, refused to do an actual independent investigation and basically refused to admit any fault. Or OSU who was totally fine with an employee destroying evidence while under investigation.  Where legal liability or football wins were more important than showing some character.

Out of the 3 schools, I view Maryland most favorably because when this is all done, I believe they will make a legitimate attempt to remove the true problem from the organization.

09/20/2018 - 10:45am I wonder if there is some…

I wonder if there is some new supplement that teams are using that causes it.  I remember creatine causing cramping if you weren't hydrated enough.

It's not the weather because teams in the south have been dealing with that every year.

I believe ND charged $2 a bottle which was a pleasant surprise. We bought extra bottles and drank them all.

09/17/2018 - 3:50pm Could be possible that it's…

Could be possible that it's in the playbook but they haven't practiced the plays enough yet to run them.  Or they're attempting to master a smaller set of plays before expanding.  Either seems like a practical approach given the youth on the line.  If you put in the whole playbook for Notre Dame they probably look a lot worse than they did.

09/12/2018 - 4:09pm I know the AD scans the…

I know the AD scans the board and would guess its 100% that players do as well.  Few probably post.

I try to avoid being too critical about players as they should not have to deal with that.  In fact, significant complaining could legitimately decrease morale and hurt the team. Coaches are more fair game however.

09/10/2018 - 12:07pm you'd need the ability to…

you'd need the ability to watch the replays with multiple angles synced so that you can determine where the ball is when it goes past the goal post.

Solomon might still be "injured" as he's coming back from his surgery.  Didn't get as much PT as you'd expect.

09/07/2018 - 2:19pm Exactly. 4 people should not…

Exactly. 4 people should not be allowed to play pickup soccer whenever they feel like, especially against a random collection of amateurs.  This would have given Kentucky a huge advantage as other athletes across the country would not be able to find 4 amateurs to play against 1 time during the off season.

09/07/2018 - 12:42pm I was also thinking a why…

I was also thinking a why the play worked video would be interesting, but it depends on the play.  For example, Khalid Hill used to 2 for 1 some defenders on the edge causing success, which you wouldn't always pick up live.  Things like that were pretty interesting.

09/06/2018 - 9:24pm Physically Patterson looks…

Physically Patterson looks ready, but I think it depends on how well he shows he can pick up a new system.  Just needs to look like Rudock did by the end of his year.

33-13.

Offense looks better but struggles a bit finishing drives in the red zone.

09/06/2018 - 11:30am Excellent content.  I…

Excellent content.  I enjoyed these last year.  Great way to pass the time before the UFRs come.

On play #1, i'm not sure if Runyan was beat badly.  He knew where his help was, and pushed his end right into it.

09/05/2018 - 12:42pm I mean, it would be quite…

I mean, it would be quite unusual for a WR coach to be calling plays when there is a passing game coordinator.  So what did he expect to get out of this question?

09/04/2018 - 3:20pm Seems about right for MSU…

Seems about right for MSU/PSU to have dropped as well.  Now our turn to see how we do against a mediocre opponent.

09/04/2018 - 2:54pm I always thought that the…

I always thought that the technique our DBs are playing doesn't give them enough time to turn and find the ball, so on jump balls against tall WRs we are at a disadvantage. The window is small on passes thrown on a rope, but floaters and back shoulder fades have a bigger window than you'd think.

09/03/2018 - 9:19pm Agree about Pep.  Hope I’m…

Agree about Pep.  Hope I’m wrong though.  Seems like everything died the second Fisch left. Passing game did feel like an improvement over last year though. I’d like to see how they progress over the next couple games. If we can’t put mediocre teams away Pep should be gone before game 6.

09/03/2018 - 3:50pm I wouldn’t say clearly, but…

I wouldn’t say clearly, but that is why we lost. ND would have called more aggressive plays in the 2nd half if it was even, and we wouldn’t have been able to focus as much on the run.  But we clearly would have had a shot.
