They acquired his rights but I don’t know if he actually signed with them. Denard was doing his youth camp in FL about a week ago.

I don’t stomach MACtion I bleed MACtion!

Thanks for the channel heads up, I just learned every CFL game is on an ESPN or ESPN+ this year. We should Draftaggeddon it.

07/21/2018 - 11:13pm How/where are you watching…

How/where are you watching it?

Canadian football is great as long as you’re not expecting regular football and those fans can drink and tailgate on par with anyone. I work a bit in the sports biz world and have thus ended up at a few CFL games and it’s always been a blast.

07/21/2018 - 8:36pm Funny enough I had basically…

Funny enough I had basically the same thing happen with a cheap used smoker several years ago. That thing was more of a flavoring device than a cooking tool so when I moved I paid it forward (with warning) to yet another neighbor willing to pay next to nothing for an attempt at smoking meats.

Summer has flown by. Haven’t had the chance to do my usual week mostly outdoors/disconnected yet but aiming to get that in by Labor Day. I often visit friends in the Keweenaw around this time but they’ve got some repairs underway so we’re looking elsewhere.

Fought my gas grill for a few hours today to get passable ribs and much better sides. Damn thing wanted to get hot and stay hot but alas my city balcony won’t allow charcoal and the oven just feels wrong this time of year.

The advice here will be good, but also take them to some of the places that you remember fondly/have meaning to you. It will be cool for them to get some of that personal history and cool for you to share the moments when you see what is the same and what has changed.

Mix in some suggestions from here you know they’ll enjoy and voila, rough itinerary.

07/20/2018 - 11:28pm To build on that: sparse…

To build on that: sparse regional talent with big time programs poaching Missouri (SEC, OSU) and Colorado (PAC-12) hard. Conference realignment has done their regional recruiting no favors. Michigan has done ok in Colorado as well and looks to be making Missouri a priority moving forward.

Frost is going to need to beat out a bunch of major schools for anyone regionally and will also probably need to recruit FL/TX/CA well enough like everyone else. Even giving him the benefit of the doubt on a schematic and/or talent ID advantage it’s going to be tough to do anything all that interesting in Lincoln.

FYI the digital edition (non kindle) is missing p 51 with a duplicate 53 in its place - the devil face where Maryland defense should be caught my eye scrolling through. I already got my Piggy fix which is all I want to know about Maryland, anyway, but thought you’d want to know and that might be an easy edit.

Also you don’t have an iBooks problem. Anyone can open/save the PDF in iBooks via that little box with an arrow button along the top or bottom (depending on device/iOS) of safari.

Really enjoying this year’s edition 50+ pages and two bourbons in!

07/20/2018 - 12:59pm I'm not necessarily…

I'm not necessarily disagreeing I just think the fans won't be happy if he tops out at 9-10 wins a year, given they turned on Pelini for 9 wins/year and Solich for 10 wins/year.

They expect Frost to get Nebraska to regular CFP contention which I just can't see because 'crootin to Lincoln.

07/20/2018 - 12:44pm Not specific to this…

Not specific to this freshman but I'm pretty confident Frost is going to disappoint in Nebraska if only because that fanbase is probably the one that makes us seem incredibly realistic (we're a little crazy guys).

He's a good coach and he'll get them to being a tough out but I think that's about the ceiling of Nebraska football in modern times.

07/20/2018 - 12:37pm Of course one of the…

Of course one of the resident no politics whiners is escalating this to class warfare.

My comment wasn't specific to Mott (though I did leave that interpretation open). The sentiment I intended: legacy is the balance of what you do, not what you buy. Philanthropy can certainly be part of what you do.

In terms of how this relates to the thread: I wouldn't call the vain purchasing of football coach naming rights philanthropy.

07/20/2018 - 9:45am Real legacy is earned not…

Real legacy is earned not purchased.

07/19/2018 - 11:52pm Naming rights are for…

Naming rights are for narcissists. You should extend your rage to all of the buildings with purchased names.

07/19/2018 - 7:11pm Downvoted for the apostrophe.

Downvoted for the apostrophe.

No because he didn't win the job.

07/19/2018 - 11:33am Bo gave a speech at Michigan…

Bo gave a speech at Michigan's football camp in '02 or '03 that was basically "it is good you play football. Football will prepare you for WWIII."

We still gave him a standing O because Bo but there were a few eyebrows raised as we looked around at each other.

Reddit CFB Risk was actually a trial run for this one.

07/18/2018 - 3:07pm I'm really looking forward…

I'm really looking forward to some fun #Lolewerke regression this season.

He's the fully realized version of computer generated 70 overall 75 speed QB you would play a season with in NCAA when you took over a terrible program.

07/18/2018 - 12:59pm SANDWICHES!!

SANDWICHES!!

07/17/2018 - 7:48pm I come here less because the…

I come here less because the board is such a pain to use. I’d guess non-board visitors probably haven’t changed their habits much and, if anything, visit more on mobile

Think the overall design is fine and better for mobile but don’t understand how the hell this was a year+ project when it looks and behaves like someone just spent a handful of hours in Wordpress.

07/17/2018 - 12:35am IIRC that account was also…

IIRC that account was also incessantly posting a bunch of meaningless or outdated video without doing the legwork of summarizing or bulletin interesting points.

I don't mind anyone who wants to engage on Michigan football so wouldn't normally think twice about it, but that has a scent of lazy attempts to create engagement/boost site metrics.

07/16/2018 - 10:49am I’d recommend finding a…

I’d recommend finding a third human who you know personally not some random person on the internet.

07/14/2018 - 5:57pm I know it’s heresy around…

I know it’s heresy around here to say bad things about Beilein these days but his recruiting has always been shit when it comes to wide receivers.

07/14/2018 - 3:46pm It is confirmed that he…

It is confirmed that he still goes by X. There should be a board version of chatbot for this frequently asked equation.

07/14/2018 - 7:49am Grand Trunk Pub could be…

Grand Trunk Pub could be good for you in Detroit. The bar is in a converted old railway station so a bit of history for your friend along with an excellent beer list and solid bar food.

07/13/2018 - 11:49am If The Between Times…

If The Between Times happened without point repercussions, did The Between Times even happen?

07/13/2018 - 11:18am You're pretty much…

You're pretty much guaranteed to get busted doing petty harebrained credit card schemes, dumbass football players of America (at least of Rutgers and Florida).

If you're going to do crime do crime better, geez.

07/13/2018 - 8:18am I’d bet they drop to an 8ish…

I’d bet they drop to an 8ish win season this year and lose a fair bit of program momentum.

Will be interesting to see what Franklin does without Saquon and Moorhead. I tend to think that looks more like Franklin pre-those guys than the last two years but the talent level is higher now.

07/12/2018 - 4:09pm Also a super-elite safety…

Also a super-elite safety which is the one thing we haven't had in forever, and the final piece to Don Brown's Voltron.

07/12/2018 - 4:00pm It's a throwaway aside in…

It's a throwaway aside in reference to dude's age and likely in response to the incredible amount of whining commenters (who are a tiny % of visitors) have been doing. Relax.

07/12/2018 - 3:58pm Good primary and secondary…

Good primary and secondary(isn?) comps; seems right in the middle of Tall Wormley and Thicc Roh.

I have a feeling this dude breaks through and forces his way onto the field to burn the redshirt, joining McGrone and Sims as guys who play early and often despite quality depth at their positions.

Maybe the new redshirt rules change how Harbaugh does things/motivates but he's shown an enthusiasm for playing physically ready-ish freshman who work hard some on D and a lot on special teams.

07/12/2018 - 10:55am I was there for Glanda and…

I was there for Glanda and Dileo. Fond memories of absolute horseshit wins in nonsense games.

Now imagine Brady Hoke but without the dumb luck.

07/12/2018 - 8:15am While not the worst thing…

While not the worst thing the NCAA does, this is how they most directly impact my quality of life.

EA is fine with paying likeness fees. They're also fine with randomizing the shit out of rosters to maintain kayfabe. Yet the NCAA is so afraid of potential legal precedent around user-generated rosters they won't allow a useful revenue source and marketing tool (that NCAA fans and players love!) to exist. Everyone knows all of this but I feel like venting.

ESPN College Hoops was also awesome the one year it existed. Had the best combination of basketball gameplay/strategy at the time (strategy would still beat today's 2k) and you could totally strike out in recruiting!

07/11/2018 - 9:39pm I think some crossing into…

I think some crossing into politics is inevitable given the intersection of sports and culture, but I’m on board with avoiding it entirely if that also gets rid of the incessant whining about breaking of the politics rule.

07/11/2018 - 7:59pm I may have let my rooting…

I may have let my rooting interest show over my human interest with "lucky" there. At least it's just a hand!

I was bracing for him to go because modern league economics (rising revenues and quicker UFA for 2nd round/undrafted guys) make betting on yourself a better option than it used to be. He had two great options so at least the fall back is one of those.

07/11/2018 - 2:35pm It's very annoying Greg…

It's very annoying Greg Schiano is apparently a good recruiter (at least when it came to NPF) when he's best known for that, MRSA, and petty bullshit on a kneel play.

07/11/2018 - 10:31am Some dish from the end of…

Some dish from the end of the pod: Charles Matthews was going to go pro but hurt his wrist and had to miss some workouts. We're lucky to have him back!

07/11/2018 - 9:14am I think that was just the…

I think that was just the inevitable result of the Scout merger. I like the guy and I'm sure he knows some dudes on campus.

When anyone serves up the same core "insider" info Sam said a week ago but with more color, I'm going to doubt the additional details until he has a track record.

07/11/2018 - 7:44am Before we dissect the…

Before we dissect the reasoning, is there anything out there that suggests either of these guys are plugged in on this recruitment, or particularly plugged in generally?

This seems like a ton of speculation on his part and it remains to be seen how reliable WolverinesWire will be in terms of what they'll run and how much information is behind it.

I'm happy for more content I'm just going to wait and see before considering them reliable insiders who can walk you through the thinking of Michigan, recruits, and their parents.

07/10/2018 - 1:54pm Awesome. There was actually…

Awesome. There was actually some speculation another team might step in with a bigger deal as he's been putting on a show offensively and showing he's better at the other stuff than scouts thought.

Cool he'll be with Walton and Spoelstra's a great coach to learn under.

07/06/2018 - 3:25pm Seems like they're working…

Seems like they're working on the assumption some DEs will just get huge and end up DTs (beyond Hinton). They'd rather have more bullets in that chamber than take a big but not explosive DT like Rodas Johnson.

I remember a Jeter quote a few years ago along the lines of "I got here and everyone is a DE!" - now he's at DT, Kemp is getting some run there (which may just be due to Gary) and that could also be where DIB ends up long-term. On the less encouraging front, it's late early for Ron Johnson on the interior and Lo Marshall is probably just a guy on the inside, though he'll probably be solid as a 5th year rotational dude.

07/05/2018 - 11:19pm A ton of guys think about…

A ton of guys think about transferring at some point in their careers and this is a NorCal kid going to school in Alabama.

I support the alternate dimension where Najee chose Michigan but this doesn’t mean that he’s miserable there and made the wrong choice or whatever.

07/05/2018 - 1:23pm This is probably the best RB…

This is probably the best RB class of the 2000s. OL haul has volume and a high floor given volume, versatility and the lack of project guys. Good could turn to Pretty, Pretty Good IMO if they get Keegan and a top-flight WR.

2017 is giving rivals plenty of fuel for negative recruiting with WRs. C'mon DPJ and Black living up to the hype sooner than later.

07/04/2018 - 2:56pm I also recommend save…

I also recommend save scumming all early entries into staying and collecting fast ATHs and turning them into DEs.

07/04/2018 - 2:54pm Eric Gray is going to move…

Eric Gray is going to move up per the 247 guys.

As for the athleticism of Giles, if you clicked OP's links you'd see he has elite athleticism. Size could be a concern but this is just...damn.

Barbecue is so easy!

07/04/2018 - 9:28am I'm wondering the same thing…

I'm wondering the same thing about Wanny (Wandale Robinson but I'm already calling him by his nickname because his film is just him stunting on poor damn Kentucky high school players. Clearly they really like both guys.

Looking at the class it's clear they still want to add at least one more tackle, WR, LB, DB and DL. Long way to go so spots could open up.

There will inevitably be class attrition because there's always attrition everywhere and also because they're trying to go with 6 OL and 6+ DL which is generally hard to hang on to.

07/03/2018 - 9:30pm He would presumably just…

He would presumably just talk shit about the SEC, ACC and ND?

07/03/2018 - 6:22pm A simpler theory: Michigan…

A simpler theory: Michigan does its own scouting and they like these players.

You guys are killing it with these prompt and thorough Hellos!
