Good writer - he had a very nice career and should be proud.

Probably better for him than what happened with Joe Falls.  He was allowed to stay around the Detroit News for years after he should have retired or forced to leave.  Was sad to watch how pathetic his columns became after he got old, cranky and out of touch with reality...

I would ask if he makes his own gravy or likes it out of the jar - but I think that joke has "left the station"...

Have to admit - was pretty funny in a demented, Mgoblog kind of way yesterday.

01/18/2019 - 5:07pm Very good lineman for…

Very good lineman for Michigan - three year starter, I believe.  Didn't get drafted because his foot speed was slow for the NFL, and only had a short career there.  Terrific that he was able to work his way up through the coaching ranks to OL Coach of the Packers.

I think we give too much admiration to the superstars with once in a decade/lifetime, god given talent (eg - Tiger Woods, ARod, etc), and should show more respect for guys like this who fight for everything they get.  Terrific job, Adam Stenavich - Go Blue!!!

The Lions potentially making a poor draft choice?  NO!

Perhaps I stated it wrong - all 12 have been or are in the Top 25.  In the case of Ohio State for instance, they have been, but are not today.  However, the way those mid-level BIG teams have been going, they seem to switch out every week or two.  Wouldn't be surprised to see them back in the Top 25 at some point.

No chance Penn State or Rutgers, the only two teams not on that list, is going to get there.

01/18/2019 - 1:54pm ANY of the remaining road…

ANY of the remaining road games are "losable".  Even Penn State.  Luckily, I think our team has the right combo of talent, leadership and maturity to win any road game as well.

Double post - but will reiterate:  Let's kick some Badger ass in Madison, and GO BLUE!

Yeah - it's almost as difficult as what Gonzaga and Nevada has to face on their schedules the rest of the season..

Can't remember the BIG being deeper than this year.  Though unlikely - certainly possible that 10 BIG teams make the Tourney.  Unreal...

If that's the case, then Reddit CFB Risk should be a sport too.  Last Spring, it was so damn exciting!

"What a night - we took Pennsylvania from the Buckeyes!  Don't attack Maryland yet - we have to honor the ACC Alliance.  Make sure to hit our secret site for directions tonight - password:  areola.  Look out for spies and double agents."

Really, has all of the drama and skill needed in any D-1 athletic competion.  Can't wait for this Spring - it is going to be wild!

Thanks for sharing, OP.  That is a bad-ass read.

Love the 1st paragraph describing Tom Brady after his Patriots made that legendary late round pick of Brady:

"Number 12 — a skinny little pretty-boy named Tom. He’s the backup quarterback. You’ll know about him because he’s a Michigan guy, like you. You’ll actually sell him your house when the Patriots draft him. You’ll even give a discount to your fellow Wolverine. You gotta pass on the wealth and take care of the young bucks, you know?"

Ty Law was one hell of a football player, college and pro.  One of the all time best at his position at Michigan.  And sounds like he earned everything he got...

You are right.  It is a highly profitable business, and one way or another, anything can be insured.

Have to say though - your statement and tone suggest that all of the college and pro football players are "victims" here.  Is playing football any different than riding a motorcycle without a helmet?  At this stage - it is well documented that sustained playing of football is likely to cause long-term head injuries.  Whatever happened to adults making their own decisions, when they understand the risk?

I am tired of this fucking victim mentality out there for stuff like this.  There should be some level of coverage to help people that get hurt - but jesus, take the risk or don't, and shut the hell up...

01/17/2019 - 11:50am I think you are on the right…

I think you are on the right track (no pun intended).  I have heard good things from other parents regarding pre-owned Subaru Imprezas.  Get them something from 2012-2014 with reasonable (<70k) mileage.

Other than that - I have rented Ford Fusion AWDs, and they are very good cars as well.

My only advice - research, research, and when you are done, research some more.  There are some great pre-owned vehicles out there - find the best one for your needs.

It definitely is positive in at least two ways:

1) Brings on a guy with a good reputation as a coach and strong recruiter.

2) Should bring an abrupt end to the idiotic posts about bringing back Brady Hoke as the DL coach.

Anyone we interview who chooses Boo Berry would immediately be eliminated from consideration as a coaching candidate.

I would rather eat Campbell's gravy in a can than Boo Berry cereal...

Then again - how could a new candidate do a worse job than Engler?  Looking good in contrast to your predecessor can be very attractive.

There will be interested candidates - but they had better be ready to strap in for a long and difficult ride...

To hell with Notre Dame.  I have confidence in Brian Kelly doing something stupid before signing day to make those young men see the light.

Maybe Tim McCormick and Dugan Fife can help recruit them.  They would look good in the Maize n Blue for sure.

Magnus - based on the offers that Michigan has out to 2021 in-state prospects - the Clarkston duo you mentioned, Damon Payne, Donovan Edwards, Raheem Anderson, Davion Weatherspoon, Nick Steinacker, and now the King briothers - gotta believe 2021 is pretty loaded here in state.

Lot of beef/big dudes in the top Michigan players for 2021.

Sparty - 8 for 37 behind the line in 2nd round of 2018 tourney vs. Syracuse.

Duke - 9 for 43 from 3 last night v. Syracuse.

The Orangemen are pretty much my favorite team over the past year.

Seriously - if you have a smart coach like Beilein, a point guard like Z who is relentless in looking for holes in the D, and a team that has multiple effective scorers from all over the floor - you are going to beat that zone if you are smart and patient.

Dr - There is one consistent certainty among Michigan fans as it relates to every team from the late 70's until now:

The most talented and popular player on the team is the young, backup QB.

01/15/2019 - 2:04pm Shea.

Shea.

I understand your point - but can't we have a QB that has been working with our receivers during game action for a year, and now perhaps can find a real rhythm/chemistry with them.  I want to see if that can happen - if so, will be a special year, and a real return to a Michigan offense with multiple weapons.

I love the bloggers who want Zach C to stay at 4* status and avoid "the jinx".  Pretty damn close to the blogger who wants MBB to lose to avoid the pressure of being undefeated.  C'mon now...

In the end - doesn't matter.  Kid will be here in the Spring and show us on the field what he's got.  I am thinking it is going to be damn good!

01/15/2019 - 1:52pm I love the bloggers who want…

This is going to be one hell of a good class.  Can't wait to see a few of them this Spring - particularly Zach C.  Would be fantastic to have him in the RB rotation come Fall.

On a separate note - didn't know Wisconsin had signed the #2 pro-style QB (#42 overall), Graham Mertz.  The only thing good about playing Wisconsin is you never had to worry about their QBs.  This kid is going to be worshiped the minute he hits campus, with plenty of milk-fed groupies to help show him the Madison area...

Our 11 year old paperboy has a good arm - always hits my front stoop with a nice spiral and strong arm.  I will get him on tape, and shoot it to the coaching staff.  We don't want to miss out on this kid...

01/15/2019 - 11:09am The things Mork does well…

The things Mork does well are getting fewer and fewer.  His rationale for playing "shuffle the current offensive staff" and adding no energy and ideas was sad, pathetic, and unprofessional.

Tough titty for Sparty...
