01/21/2019 - 7:51am Agree about Falls - his fall…

Agree about Falls - his fall was a slow and painful one.  He became detached from society and longed for the 'good ole days' from the 1950's...  We're all going to suffer that fate in some way, though hopefully not publicly like he did.

01/19/2019 - 1:55pm Well, that sucked.

Well, that sucked.

01/18/2019 - 11:54pm Well laa-tee-da, Mr. Huffy…

Well laa-tee-da, Mr. Huffy Puffy...

01/17/2019 - 10:41pm I had no idea he was…

I had no idea he was anywhere near that old!  Thought he was in his mid-60's...  Damn!!!  Happy Birthday, JEJ!!!

01/17/2019 - 10:39pm I have slept - that shit is…

I have slept - that shit is awesome!!  I'm going to keep doing it, too...  I'll lose some sleep to watch college football and bball (some games), and playoff/Olympic hockey.  Otherwise, I'm old enough that sleep is going to get its, anyway.

01/17/2019 - 9:37pm Maybe the problem is simply…

Maybe the problem is simply that the NBA game sucks ass, and it's personalities are largely character-less people?

I like college sports better than pros.  Not the same talent level, granted, but far better competition and effort.  The NBA has been unwatchable for decades.  The NFL. I haven't watched but maybe 15 minutes this year.  Don't miss it...

From my OP:

"IMO, this single failure of leadership should bring his job performance into question by the Regents.  Maybe it doesn't warrant firing (that's for other's, with more day-to-day insight, to decide), but it's certainly a harsh strike."

What part about this were you able to not understand?  You conflated my words into something you wanted to write.  In any case, Warde is paid to not make mistakes like this.  His job is to keep the university sports department out of issues like this - instead, he drove the dept. straight into it.  And handled the whole thing poorly.  He took a zero-day story and made it a three day lesson in social media backlash.

01/17/2019 - 9:13am Yes, all coaching hires get…

Yes, all coaching hires get a press release.  But this has nothing to do with any press release.  It has everything to do with not associating the university with the stain of Nassar.  To hire her required some explanation up front - an explanation/clarification of her role and what transpired from it; how she was vetted; why she was agreed on.  None of that happened.  Instead, a simple one-liner was released: 'welcome'...  When news broke and went south, Warde's reaction was to hide behind the children/young adults on the team rather than to get out in front of it.  When that reaction was called out, he hide behind a 'consultant' claim and quietly released her because of poor PR, yet without any further explanation.

Warde mishandled this in every way imaginable, and he should feel bad.  IMO, this single failure of leadership should bring his job performance into question by the Regents.  Maybe it doesn't warrant firing (that's for other's, with more day-to-day insight, to decide), but it's certainly a harsh strike.

01/17/2019 - 8:17am I kind of agree with you,…

I kind of agree with you, except that we don't have to play ND every year.  We haven't done that, and it isn't close.  Several year breaks are awesome for this rivalry - it only grows interest.  But getting them back on the schedule last year and next year was done with far too much reverence given, and far too much taken away from Michigan.

You say Middle Tenn St would take its place, yet fail to remember that Arkansas and VT were removed from the schedule so ND could get its precious home game in 2018 (after closing the series at home).  You say we would dodge good teams to schedule weak opponents, yet fail to remember that series' against Washington and Texas planned in the near future are no longer being talked about because of the schedule gymnastics needed to accommodate ND's 2019 slate - despite that BOTH Michigan and ND shared an early open date.  You fail to remember that the 2019 game was placed in an ND open date, while Michigan had to remove a non-conf game and move a bye week to accommodate ND.

I agree to get ND on the schedule at times in the future - it's a great rivalry.  But shoe-horning them into the 2018-19 schedules on their terms was not only unneeded, but it was a slap in the face of Michigan fans.  And your defense of it, at any cost, is worth negging your opinion.  And I normally don't neg opinions because everyone is entitled to one...

01/16/2019 - 10:36pm No, Hackett did not schedule…

No, Hackett did not schedule ND.  I do think he initiated talks with them, though.  But Manual definitely finished the 'negotiations'.

Bent over the table saying 'yes, sir, Mr Swarbrick!'...

01/16/2019 - 10:30pm The "interim" that doesn't…

The "interim" that doesn't count re-established Michigan's athletic integrity, signed the largest Nike apparel contract ever handed out (at the time), and also hired Jim Harbaugh.  But he doesn't count...

Not even a good try at face saving.  Dummass.

01/16/2019 - 7:56pm Why the fuck wasn't he…

Why the fuck wasn't he publicly thrown under a bus by the MSU BoT, state legislature, and Governor's office?

01/16/2019 - 1:35pm I prefer to make it, but on…

I prefer to make it, but on occasion I will use a jar or package of powder.  Most times I will procure a rotisserie chicken from the local Food Lion - because they are f'in GOOD (better than I can ever roast)!!  And for these, I will use pre-packaged gravy and add the juices from the chicken package into it to help the flavor.

I always make a broth out of the chicken/turkey carcass for soups.  Put every bit of carcass scrap into a pot (bones, fat chunks, skin you don't eat - everything), cover it with water, season as you like, at let it cook.  Bring it to a boil, then back off the heat and let it simmer for many hours.  Strain it out and you have a soup base that beats the crap out of anything else you'll find.  You can freeze it for later use in soups or gravies...

01/16/2019 - 12:59pm I'll concur with this,…

I'll concur with this, except that I prefer corn starch to flour.  Same results, better flavor - none of the flour taste you get from flour if you're not really careful about how much you use.  Adding a base (beef or chicken, depending on what you cooked) can enhance the flavor, but is not always needed.

01/16/2019 - 12:54pm Cut the ham broth with…

Cut the ham broth with enough water to make it taste right, then add your thickener of choice (corn starch, for me).  If you don't cut ham broth, it'll be too salty and inedible.

01/16/2019 - 7:45am No.  Nebraska is essentially…

No.  Nebraska is essentially Wisconsin - lots of dairy and corn farmers with large kids.  Most of them stay home to play for the local team and then return to the family farm with some flavor of big city seasoning (ie: Ag degree).  Sometimes they pull off a surprise and get a potatoe farmer from Idaho.

I have just stereotyped all of the square flyover states, ridiculed farmers, and possibly misspelled potato, depending on how you spell it.  I now look forward to the #MeToo crowd whining about said disparagements...

01/16/2019 - 7:38am Samoa's are the only GS…

Samoa's are the only GS cookie worth eating!  But if you're in a pinch, then Thin Mints, Savannah's, and whatever other GS cookie is available to you will work just fine.

WTH does Pep have to do with the DL?  Topics, man.  Topics.

That is fucking disgusting!  Wanting death for another human being is usually an awful thing, but I will clap in celebration the day that man leaves the Earth.

01/15/2019 - 1:26pm Yay, starz!!!  I remember…

Yay, starz!!!  I remember just last week people were whining about whether Hinton had regressed and maybe the DL croots weren't as good as advertised.  Seems that things are okay...

So you're short...  Dude, I'm all of 5'5" and have been the butt of height jokes all my life.  You just need to man the fuck up.  Not everything is a call to #MeToo...

+'d for the excellent use of tools!  You learn quickly, my friend!!

01/15/2019 - 8:15am I don't know what is your…

I don't know what is your writing, or if you quoted anything from the story (it's clear you did, but jeez).  What is so hard about using quotes?  I mean, there's a quote mark icon on the toolbar above the comment box, and it works just like MS Word - click the quote icon, type the quoted text, and click the quote icon again.  WTF is so hard about using the tools provided?  They're as basic as basic gets!

You can even get fancy and highlight the quoted text, then click the italicized I on the toolbar, and it will put all of the highlighted, quoted text into italics!

01/15/2019 - 8:06am I think the problem was that…

I think the problem was that the passing offense Harbaugh/Pep (mostly Pep) designed required a good OL because it did not make use of a lot of quicker hitting stuff.  Instead, most of the routes took a while to play out.  Also, most of them required the WR's and QB's to see the same thing and expect the same options, and some routes also required that from the TE's and RB's as well.  We saw some quick hitters, some wheels, some slants, some RPOs.  But not a lot of them - certainly not enough to think the offense was built on them.  We did see, however, a crapload of mid-range and long-range stuff that expected Shea to stand still for 3-5 seconds.  If the OL can't be expected to hold up consistently, that's a non-starter.  That type of route tree needs a very different OL than other types of route trees (ie: OSU's all-slant-all-the-time and Leach's Air Raid).

Harbaugh and Pep have run this system for two years now, and it was better this season than last year for obvious reasons.  I do think the OL improved, but now I'm not sure it improved enough.  I admit to having been deceived by a seemingly potent offense in the middle of the year that gave way to good pass rush teams late.  It's pretty clear, after OSU and UF, that the OL wasn't as good at pass pro as we thought it was against UW and PSU...

01/13/2019 - 9:39pm Way to go Warde, you fucked…

Way to go Warde, you fucked it up and only made it right when doing so was the only available option.  You didn't make it right because you thought it was the right decision.  You're tenure is on thin ice - it's a good thing Harbaugh seems to like you...

01/13/2019 - 9:20pm Thanks for the running…

Thanks for the running commentary tonight.  My DirecTV signal crapped out on Sat-1, which means BTN can't be seen.  And the BTN2GO app for streaming won't even let me log in.  So nothing for me...

Gotta say, the BTN streaming website sucks ass.  I click on my TV provider and it just goes back to the screen telling me to pick the provider.  Every damn time.  Fuck BTN...

So I read it was a good game to watch!

True - because he's a much better blocker than either Gentry or McKeon, and they kept using McKeon to take on more and more blocks.

You're a week late - there was a thread titled "Bring Hoke Home" just last week!

01/12/2019 - 5:52pm Bonzo is still every bit as…

Bonzo is still every bit as revered as a drummer that Paige ever was on the lead guitar.  Same with John Paul Jones (base), and the entire world celebrates Robert Plant's lyrical stylings.  Think about this:  Eric Clapton said no thanks when Cream evolved into LZ.  That's some shit, man!!

01/12/2019 - 8:28am Whaaa???  Did you read the…

Whaaa???  Did you read the fine print on the bottom?  It says that the chart charts 1st down plays that gained 5 yds or more, 2nd down gains of 4 yards or more, and converting 3rd into first.  That is all this chart says.

It says nothing about long bombs, other than that they were successful plays that make the chart.  All it does say is that getting a good gain on first and/or second, generally leaves you with a makeable 3rd conversion...  And I think we all knew that!

01/12/2019 - 8:22am The chart says you're…

The chart says you're correct.  So Mike Leach is a moron for running his air raid?  LOL!!  Lets not take it that far, but it is an interesting chart...

01/11/2019 - 3:05pm Seriously?  You're better…

Seriously?  You're better than this!

Hinton was a 5-star that dropped simply because he opted to NOT attend any camp last year.  He's still the 5-star that showed up to camps two years ago.  And the same guy that showed very well at his all-star game last weekend.  He's fine...

A bunch of other croots just ran out of time as they ran up the board to higher ratings (Charbonnet, Jackson, Johnson, Smith, Jones, etc...)

This is one of Harbaugh's better classes in all of his college crootin career.  Simmer down...

This is, indeed, much better than the fail you posted earlier this morning!!

And yes, the bball team is in dire need of bench swagger.  Maybe Poole could offer a Master Class in Bench Sass to players numbering 9-14 on the roster (or however many players there are)?  Coach could bring the subs...

Haa!  WTF is going on in Tuscaloosa?  I guess modern football has passed Saban by.  Perhaps the Bama faithful are yelling UNACCEPTABLE!!!! ??

And it makes me want to go listen to see what Pete Finebaum is saying...  Almost.  Not really.

If I could predict the game they'd lose before hand, I'd be all for it.  Only because I could make bank like Biff did...

Otherwise, no.  They must win all of the games or UNACCEPTABLE!!!

01/11/2019 - 9:33am "I helped my mom set up AOL…

"I helped my mom set up AOL once."

Ugh, no thanks!  Mostly because I live ~600 miles from my parents, I refused to help them get started with a computer.  I did not want that hand-holding over the phone from hundreds of miles away, with the sure knowledge that my siblings (who visit them every day) would not help me!  They never asked, and I never offered.  Some things are better left to rotary dial phones...

01/11/2019 - 9:29am I feel bad for him, too - to…

I feel bad for him, too - to a point.  He backtracked (or regressed, if you prefer) when he came back from his legal problems.  He had to (rightfully) earn his way back on the field, and others had caught up to him before he could do so.

He had the pole position to be a starter and show that hard work and leadership can keep you on the field.  But he gave that up when he acted incredibly stoopid.  WTH was he doing in E Lansing to party just a couple days before the game there?  And grabbing ass?  Yeah, college kids do college things, and I'm glad he got all that behind him, but he should not have put himself in that position to begin with.

I wish him luck in the future, he did earn his way back and show leadership during his last season - and those prove his character more than the dumbass thing he got into trouble for.

01/11/2019 - 9:18am I look around the 'crootin…

I look around the 'crootin rosters and see no evidence of your "10X better" statement.  Could you please clarify this?  I mean, I don't see where the defense has 10x more players, or 10x more starz, than the offense has.  It seems pretty balanced, to me.

01/11/2019 - 9:12am I do agree with this. …

I do agree with this.  However...  I also believe that the team follows the lead of its coaches.  And I find it plausible that the coaches were somewhat concerned about their ability to pass protect, and to rush the passer.  This concern could lead to some tentative vibes from the players.  And once it started going downhill, we all know things snowballed.

So yeah, I can believe that the OSU players sensed some tentativeness, or caution, from Michigan's players.  Maybe some lack of total confidence in the way they approached the line before the snap?   I can see where a teenage player would then say 'they wanted no part of us, man!'...

01/11/2019 - 9:00am Holy Hell - this guy's WR…

Holy Hell - this guy's WR coaching bonfides are fuckin' BONAFIDE!!!  DPJ, Collins, and Black must be frothing at the bit to get him on campus and start working!
