Fake news. Matt Leinart was on one of the afternoon radio talk shows (Sirius XM CFB channel) and clearly said it wasn't true. It was a cool thing for Kiffen to do - as a joke - for his kid. There is no actual offer.
Edit: Matt denied the offer was an offer on Thursday afternoon.

I don't doubt that production thing one bit! No difference in taste, though... I can eat circus peanuts, but I won't buy them to do so. Necco wafers are horrible - so we agree there! But Mary Janes? Those things are great! Almost as good as Bit-O-Honey's!!
With all the rain we've seen this year, TP would only last a day, or two. Send him over - it'll be fun...

It doesn't matter what the weather does. This Michigan team is not the 2015 team - it won't have to play out of its collective mind to stay in it against a Sparty playoff team (deserved, or not). This isn't the 2016 team, led by a respectable game manager at QB and content to run out the clock after going up 30-10 with 11 minutes left. This isn't the 2017 team that had no OL, one WR, and backup QB's that couldn't keep its defense off the field.
This team is one that doubles up on ToP and total yards over its opponents. It's one that has the best defense in the nation - by any stat, by any measure. It's one that can move the ball in chunks, with short passes, with TE's, FB's, RB's and WR's all over the field. It has an actual QB that can drop dimes at all three levels, hit passes on the run after bailing out, and take a keeper for 81 yards. It has an OL that has been paving opponents since game 1.
This is a complete team that will not lose to MSU. Doesn't matter where it's played, when, or what the weather does. Both teams have to play in the same weather...

This is a shitty piece of guessing, and you should feel bad. You basically just said the guy has no heart. He came back from an ACL tear and got on the field this year, he can fight just fine.
Instead of offering up a bunch of unsubstantiated, crappy hawt takes, how about we just wish him well for the future?

|10/17/2018 - 1:54pm||I'm going to defend Drevno…||
I'm going to defend Drevno here (for the second time since last night, too!). First, I'll say this: last year was an abortion, and he deserved to be canned for it. However, I don't think it was all his fault. He got teamed up with Greg Frey, who has a very different OL strategy and wants very differently shaped guys from what Drevno wants. We grew up hearing that OL needs to be together as a unit to mind-meld together, but Frey and Drevno split up the OL coaching duties, and the OL. Instead of practicing as a unit, the OT's and TE's practiced together, while the OC'c and OG's did other things. I have to assume they came together for some drills, probably when the TE's practiced TE stuff.
I don't think Drevno and Frey got along very well, either. No reason to say this other than some of the comments we heard last year, and the overall fractured feeling of the entire staff.
None of us really whined about the 2015 and 2016 OL's, in fact, we liked 2016! The line play was trending up both seasons. Although we did recognize some limitations based on the players left over from Hoke, and the poor state of OL recruiting that Harbaugh inherited. And that bore out in 2017 - along with the above mentioned issues. I do think the OL (17 version) would have been better had the OL coach been only Drevno - or even only Frey. But both together played a part in the overall horrid performance.
All of that said, I believe Warinner is an upgrade. Probably because he started from ground zero, and I don't think Drevno, as a singular OL coach (because Frey left), would have.

Did you even watch the game? Someone's facemask cut it open, and he made it worse on his zone read into the end zone when he kinda dived in. Landed on his left hand. It took 5 stitches to close up, and he said it isn't bothering him in practice.

Marc's wins against Michigan came during what is probably the worst 10-year stretch in Michigan football history. There may be some other stretch that is worse, but you'll have to go back a LONG way to find it. It also coincides with PSU's demise as a top performer because the world learned the truth about Joe Paterno, and was disgusted by it.
The simple fact that Mick has won some games should not surprise. He's a solid coach that seems to get an extraordinary amount of luck, while playing with some loose ethical boundaries. Luck runs out, and then talent takes over.

I've had occasion to visit Wright-Patt a few times. In the system admin control room, they had an OSU flag hanging. So I changed the console window default color scheme to a blue background with a yellow font. I did it as the admin user and set the change in one of the startup scripts. Took them half an hour to find the buried script, and they were not happy. This was back in the day, before all this fancy cyber security stuff was put in place.
Nice area, though, despite the proximity to the world's largest truck stop.

|10/16/2018 - 11:22am||Man, the Negative Nancy…||
Man, the Negative Nancy takes in this thread are hard to read!
First, Michigan's defense is going to stop Lewerke, which means that MSU's offense will be stopped. They rely on him for everything. And their running game is crap, I don't care if LJ Scott plays, or not - he's been crap since his freshman year. Perfect weather, rain, wind... Doesn't matter, MSU will be happy to score 17 points (I don't think it will be that much).
Offensively, Michigan is far more diverse and fast than they were in 2016 - when they put up 30 points and started garbage time early. Bring the wind and rain, there's a much better running attack, fronted by an OL coming into mashing form, to eat the clock. What gap will MSU abandon? Which one will UM attack on a per play basis? As the season has come along, Michigan has improved in all offensive facets.
MSU is going to get the Wisconsin treatment. Only with less remorse, because Harbaugh likes Puntin' Paul Chryst. He does not like Mack Dentonio.
|10/16/2018 - 11:02am||The line I like best was…||
The line I like best was written last week: "...bringing a one-dimensional offense against this Michigan defense is just asking to be debacled."
Ask Wisconsin if this is true...
|10/16/2018 - 11:00am||If Orlando Prince continues…||
If Orlando Prince continues to be the matador he's been this season, we will see exactly how well Haskins can respond to pressure. Gary, Winovich, Paye, and Uche will come through and around Prince so fast that Haskins will be happy to hand it off to the guy we passed over and duck out of the way.
|10/16/2018 - 10:51am||It's interesting that you…||
It's interesting that you crap on a fan base for wanting to get rid of a guy that couldn't recruit 5* OL. Because, that is essentially the main complaint against Drevno - that he whiffed on every big time OL he tried to recruit.
The comparisons in actual coaching aren't good, although everyone of us enjoyed how the 2015 and 2016 OL's played (all Drevno, all the time). We knew the personnel had issues, but the lines generally played above their talent on the whole. The 2017 OL was a mash up of two OL coaches coaching the OL. All we hear growing up is that the OL must be a cohesive unit, and spend time together, to be any good. So we split them up with two coaches that had very different OL strategies. That plan didn't work...
I will readily admit that the improvements we've seen with Warinner this year, appear more impressive than what we saw in both 2015 and 2016. But I'm not sure that the addition of Greg Frye last year didn't derail some goodness that was growing with Drevno. Then again, I don't that anyone could have made last years OL decent at football...

|10/16/2018 - 10:24am||So why do you give them the …||
So why do you give them the 't'? The word 'The' is not part of the school name - that crap was started by some blustery alums during the little intro videos for NFL games. So, basically, you're indulging their self-importance. Why?
Personally, I will never give them that credit. If they can't figure out that 'OSU' is their school, well, uh, I got nothing for 'em...
|10/16/2018 - 10:13am||Maybe, just once, someone…||
Maybe, just once, someone could ask a question that is targeted enough to get some reply - other than the generically basic "talk about..."
Something like 'What's going on with Nordin? He'd been hitting them solid, and tonight they wobbled all over the place.'; or 'You brought Milton in on a first down in the first half, what did you see that made you think UW would be fooled?'...
Heh, that second example wouldn't get much of a response, other than the poker being knocked away from coaches eye.
|10/16/2018 - 9:41am||I'll assume the same thing…||
I'll assume the same thing for App St that I'll assume for UCF. In a one-off game situation, ie: App St-PSU, UCF-Auburn, they are tough to beat and will hang close if nothing else. But on a weekly basis playing the P5, those two teams will show plenty of cracks. Injuries will mount up, and they won't have the depth to keep up. Teams will be better prepared for their personnel and schemes. They'll be taken more seriously as an opponent.
It wouldn't end well on a weekly basis. But one game per year, I like they're chances...

|10/15/2018 - 1:33pm||I just can't see MSU staying…||
I just can't see MSU staying close in this game. The 2016 game was 30-10 before some weirdness, and then Harbaugh brought it in tight - real tight, to close out the win before anything else could weird happen. MSU's last score was with less than a minute left, so the game wasn't nearly as close as the score would say. This year, I say Harbaugh keeps the pedal floored...
