"We're tired of the killings and the injustice," Bucks guard George Hill told The Undefeated's Marc J. Spears.

Us too, George. Us too :(

[EDIT @6:10pm]: I'm taking the unusual step of locking this thread until 7:30pm.  Emotions in the thread are getting way too heated with insults being tossed left and right; I'm going to remove the most offensive comments.

"DonBrownsMustache" has been banned.

I'll reopen the thread at 7:30 and then hope to keep it open for meaningful discussion.

Everybody please calm down and maybe reflect upon what led to these postponements, what led to the protests and unrest in Kenosha and elsewhere.

[Edit #2 @ 7:20 pm]:. I'll be removing the lock shortly. I've removed 3 or 4 comments but when I did, some direct threaded  replies disappeared with them.  I've also edited out some insults in about a half-dozen posts.  Two accounts have been banned and a couple others are on thin ice.

Let's see if we can turn this into a civil MGoBoard discussion about an important major sports development, instead of yet another session of shit-slinging, Ok?  If we can't, it'll quickly get permanently locked and more heads WILL roll.

[3rd and final edit]  Re-locking (or should I call it "red-locking?) this thread. It's essentially run its course, and though I wish to thank the large majority who kept the discussion civil once I reopened it @ 7:30, I don't dare risk it going off the rails overnight, and I certainly don't have time in the morning to weigh in.  Also don't want to leave a mess for the other mods to deal with tomorrow.

Again, my appreciation to the many who made thoughtful contributions.

Welp, that solves it then. Guy didn't follow exact orders and deserved to be extrajudicially gunned down in the street. It really disturbs me that people with your terrifying authoritarian worldview exist in high numbers and vote.

He wasn’t supposed to be there as he had a restraining order against him, he had a knife, police tried to use less than lethal force, he still resisted and went to get in his car.  You can’t just walk away from police if you are a wanted felon, and if you put officers in an uncomfortable situation like going into your car, you risk being shot by police.  It’s that simple.

Come on man, it's impossible not to. The dumbest argument in these discussions is those saying it's inappropriate to bring up race. What's one of the first things you notice about someone when you look at them? It's not wrong to notice that! What is wrong is not having the basic empathy and compassion to still see them as human beings despite not resembling you or the people in your family visually.

But you're ignoring the problem. How often do white people with warrants out for their arrest do things like this and wind up being brought safely into custody? Many. This happens to black people a disproportionate amount.

"Viewing it through the lens of race" is all you can do. His race is the REASON it happened. There are countless other tactics the police could've used. The cop chose to put 7 rounds in his back.

Hey Don, Fuck all the excuses and the little bubble you live in.  How many more examples do you need...won't matter...You will, " Yeah, but" every shooting.

Just waiting for the "black on black violence" post to draw false equivalencies and stupify us even more.  Or the...he wasn't a good man because he did X 15 years ago.

Learn about the evolution of the "criminal justice" system in our country from slavery through Jim Crow and the statistics around arrests and incarceration and convictions to this day. Do that, then comment.

Police are NOT the judge, jury and executioner.  I know that would be much simpler for a fucking small minded, regressive, scared little man like you, but that's now how our country is supposed to function. You are an unpatriotic piece of shit if you truly care about upholding the Constitution and the best of this country.

Go bow at the alter of Trump (Given your comment about "ratings" I assume you are in his mold) or whatever other cult/conspiracy crap within which you bathe daily.

There’s that massive boner conservatives always get whenever they find out that a black person unjustifiably shot/murdered by police had a criminal history. You’re somehow suggesting that not following an officers directions justifies shooting someone in the back 7 times. You are sick. I pray you get help.

"DonBrownsMustache": Account blocked.

No explanation necessary.

(edit@5:35pm)

On 2nd thought, I feel I must say this much: Fanning the flames of racism is never OK and should ALWAYS be handled with an automatic banning.

lol "ratings"

And also TIL that having a warrant out and walking away from police means that they are allowed to shoot you 7 times from point blank range while having the ability to restrain you a different way

Great move by the Bucks.

This may be an insensitive question right now, but is it a boycott and a forfeit?  Or just a boycott?  If they just play tomorrow instead, I think the boycott loses some of its luster.  If they forfeit the game, I think that is way more impactful of a statement.

Honest question: do they just end up forfeiting in this case? What they choose to do as a team is their business and if they all feel this is the best course of action, then by all means go for it. I’m just curious what this means for the situation on the court, depending on how long they  hold out for.

If I’m playing for the Magic and my team is ready to go and the other team willfully isn’t taking the court, do I start asking if the Bucks are forfeiting the game? Especially with my being down three games to one?

Again, this is not a commentary in any way on the social justice aspect of this situation. I’m really just curious how this works on the court.

Presumably the Magic would've agreed to strike themselves the second they heard the Bucks were doing it. I assume the NBA postponed everything to get out in front of the strike, so they can try to play a role in ending it sooner rather than later.

20 million black babies aborted and nothing said, but I guess they were not human just like slaves were not really human.
