I don't think the amount of money they've made is any indication that it was the right choice to leave when they did...ie, they potentially could have made more money and for longer had they made a different choice.

However, of those players listed, I don't think any of them outside of DJ made a hotly debated choice.

I’m confused. In one sentence you’re saying nobody could be dumb enough to think that Harbaugh’s lack of animation affected the team, and then in the next two you’re saying it affected the team...

Peppers was a difference maker on returns, but as far as "both sides of the ball" goes...he was a negative difference maker when he lined up on offense (except for against Rutgers).

On the MGoBoard, the "Last post" column doesn't seem to be accurate. I just looked at the first page, and it said that the most recent post on the Dylan Larkin Red Wing's signing was 6 seconds ago. But there haven't been any posts made today...

08/07/2018 - 11:12am Not the very first time, but…

Not the very first time, but still with only the learner's permit. Was going just around the corner to the breakfast spot (Mark's Midtown Coney Island) with my older brother. It had snowed a considerable amount the previous night and it was my first time driving in the elements.

I went to turn left onto State street from a stop and totally spun out. I think we made two full rotations. Luckily, nobody else was on the road. But, needless to say, my brother drove home.

08/03/2018 - 12:17pm I meeaaaannnn...the…

I meeaaaannnn...the undergraduate school needs more teachers who are fully committed to teaching, and not research, ie lecturers. If I'm taking an undergraduate course at just about any level, I'd rather have a dedicated lecturer who is putting in the time to prepare lecture slides, be engaged during office hours, and write reasonable exams than a top researcher in the field who obviously has no interest in teaching.

And as to that op-ed piece, it loses credibility when the author can't have the self-reflection to realize that the credentials of the average lecturer are not the same as those of a tenure-track professor.

"Severely punished" would be getting kicked off the team and being forced to find a new school to play football.

"Ruin his life" would be go to jail or something similar.

This was a slap on the wrist in comparison.

Thanks for updating, Seth. Nice to know people aren't screaming into the void.

If everything on that priority list gets fixed before the season starts, and the hamsters can handle the inevitable increase in traffic during the football season, then I would consider this a very successful site upgrade.

07/16/2018 - 7:13pm The point is that the…

The point is that the education is not the compensation that a lot of the athletes are actually looking for.

For one, an intensely rigorous education is less valuable to a person who has way less time to spend on academics because they are playing a sport.

For two, the academic requirements for D1 athletes is lower than the average student. There are therefore going to be many athletes that don't have the necessary knowledge base to succeed in that kind of academic situation. So for many, the education is inherently way less valuable.

07/09/2018 - 4:41pm Argentina may not truly be…

Argentina may not truly be the 5th best team in the world (as they are in Fifa rankings), but Group D was by no means a weak group.

I spoke too strongly in saying that England has only ugly wins. They've beat who is in front of them (except for Belgium). I just think that Croatia (even though they're gassed) is much better than anyone else they've faced so far.

07/09/2018 - 4:23pm I'd just rather watch…

I'd just rather watch exciting plays. In a world cup filled with amazing goals, it's annoying that the likely winner of the golden boot hasn't had any amazing goals.

I'd much rather watch Brazil, flopping and all.

07/09/2018 - 1:19pm True. Croatia looked great…

True. Croatia looked great in the group stages, whereas England barely eeked out a win against Tunisia and then shut down their best player(s) against Belgium. Now, Croatia seems to be sputtering to the semifinal, whereas England hasn't really been tested yet.

07/09/2018 - 1:01pm Hope: Belgium vs. Croatia…

Hope: Belgium vs. Croatia with Belgium winning

Prediction: France vs. Croatia with France winning

England's run reminds me of Michigan's run to the championship game this year. They've played relatively weak competition and had a lot of ugly victories. Major difference is that, unlike Michigan, England is not fun to watch and I don't like them.

I spent some time compiling old UFRs into an excel sheet, but I didn’t know how to write a script that could do it for me and it was mind numbingly tedious.

I really don’t understand your argument. It sounds basically like “both sides are the same,” which is an obnoxiously wrong one, but it is also mixed with “neither side matters,” which is equally off-base.

I will obviously agree that more sides has the potential to add more nuance to the political arena, but we have what we have right now, and it’s important to fight to make the best of it.

I don’t understand your last sentence. Having political discussions on a Michigan blog where we all respect each other on a basic level because of our shared interest and love of Michigan sports and the University of Michigan.

Refusing to allow political discussions on this blog is a tacit admission that we are too divided to have overcome that.
