|07/20/2018 - 7:12am||I sit right on the 50 yard…||
I sit right on the 50 yard line on the tunnel side high up. We are not at all lethargic or boring. Actually I always kinda wish the guy in front of us doesn’t show up because he jumps up, does a little dance, and screams for every first down. It gets very annoying by midway through the 2nd quarter.
|07/17/2018 - 7:55pm||I visit much less for a few…||
I visit much less for a few reasons in no particular order:
1. The app was easier - see it and hit the button, this site I forget about.
2. Far less board content I care about - I leave threads fast as they devolve to complaining about the recruits we are getting or complaining about those complaining (irony that I’m on here possibly complaining about it?)
3. Far less front page content and more content I don’t care about - NBA, USMNT, World Cup stuff, hockey, I have no interest or patience to read any of that or listen to any podcast titled, “Not Just a Shooter”. Hoping for no Draftgeddon this year.
|06/03/2018 - 7:22pm||2. Hair||
Applies to way too many players on this team. Nordin? Metellus? Evans? Denard? Didn’t Crawford have a Mohawk at some point?
|05/31/2018 - 12:21pm||Anyone else see McKeon there?||
I was at the game and ended up waiting for hot dogs with Sean McKeon, Greg Robinson,(#79 not GERG) and one other player. I wished them luck and told them I couldn’t wait to start going to games this year.
|05/27/2018 - 2:58pm||What exactly do you sign?||
When you walk-on what do you sign? I don’t recall any of my walk-on teammates signing anything ever.
|05/23/2018 - 10:28pm||Catchafire||
You seem like a well intentioned enough fellow. However I cannot abide anything you say in this thread. My goodness those are some terrible posts. You have to be joking. Or at least attempting a joke?
|05/20/2018 - 9:38pm||Stripper advice||
I met a gorgeous stripper from London this weekend who’s much older boyfriend is taking her to Istanbul where he will be getting a hair transplant. She is very excited about going to Istanbul and then Ibiza afterwards to go clubbing with his new hair. So maybe that’s a 3rd option for you?
|05/17/2018 - 2:23pm||NU alum here||
This is a 39,000 seat field.
Your only concern is being too low to see the whole field. Sit 2/3rds or 3/4ths of the way up in sec 126-131 or sit in the first few rows of sec 226-231. Sitting too low there is obstructed view on the sideline from camera cranes and you can’t see across the field or at least one end zone. Sitting too high isn’t really a thing but you probably can do better than last few rows. Avoid the corners of the field as they don’t go up high enough to see much and forget the end zone.
|05/17/2018 - 9:49am||It’s possible he uses||
People in high level sports come back from surgically repaired injuries. Plenty of Olympians and CrossFit competitors and even baseball players recover clean.
But as a former amateur pitcher who once had a roommate using (and knew plenty of other guys who did) and having met Verlander a few times my gut tells me he’s clean. Plenty of pitchers have overcome similar injuries to go on to long and effective careers without using. Sometimes it’s just genetics and luck.
|05/17/2018 - 7:13am||JV Success||
Hard to imagine JV on PEDs. His physique is not ripped by any means and he doesn’t have the appearance of a lot of muscle compared to other big league pitchers.
His success has always been contingent on his ability to use his changeup for outs. Good fastball and a big “show me” curve that hitters have to respect but when he had his 3rd pitch working especially when it was the changeup is when he would frustrate hitters the most. Watch his no-hitters or any playoff appearance against Oakland or NY to see what I mean. Injuries slowed him down because he had trouble keeping the ball down as much as he lost velocity. Sure he had a few years he didn’t throw 95-97mph but hitters strikeout on 91-93mph fastballs every single day across baseball so the drop in strikeout rate is NOT strictly a function of him losing velocity. It’s a function of him leaving the ball straight and up in the zone at times when hitters knew they didn’t have to respect his curve because he wasn’t throwing it sharply for strikes and he didn’t have his changeup. Sometimes this would happen even when he was throwing 100mph (like the All-Star game when he put the AL down like 4/5-0 in the first or second) because he fell in love with his fastball and forgot to mix it up. Injuries have affected his velocity but also his ability to get the ball down in the zone and his ability to have command of his change and curve/slider. He has of course overcome those injuries with time.
|05/15/2018 - 7:59pm||Yes and no||
When Caminiti won MVP while juicing he said his biggest advantage was that every day felt like opening day. So much of the drug use in baseball is around recovery and stimulants (greenies in the coffee) because it’s so important to performance. The advantage is undeniably huge.
|05/15/2018 - 11:45am||I liked moving to the 50||
Last season I finally crossed that point threshold and we got seats in section 1. I really like the majority of people we sit around. Engaged fans - many of whom work at the University and know some of the players personally. Very enthusiastic. Of course the guy right in front of us who has to celebrate every first down (literally) by jumping out of his seat is obnoxious and the Ohio family who are SO TOTALLY pessimistic about the team/game/state of program yet drive up every week from Cleveland (MGrowOld? Is it you?) are not ideal but they are the minority. So for the games you do attend you might enjoy the atmosphere more in the prime section.

|05/10/2018 - 8:17pm||Riverside Hospital?||
Were you born at Riverside Hospital?
|05/02/2018 - 8:25pm||Yes on Ripken Jr all day!||
That guy was sooo over rated.
|05/01/2018 - 11:18am||She was so pretty too!||
Really wish she had made like 1 or 2 different choices.
|04/30/2018 - 9:36pm||Now that’s funny!||
The athletes aren’t the ones hanging out smoking and drinking? Plenty of high school/college athletes are in the popular crowd and smoke and drink a lot. I would bet good money starters on Michigan’s football team will smoke a cigarette or a joint or two on non-game weekends. I know many of my teammates did in college. One guy bought his softball playing girlfriend a pack of smokes for her birthday and then immediately bummed one off her. Oh and even in the season plenty of players will pop a lipper of dip.
|04/27/2018 - 10:38pm||I was a non-revenue Big Ten athlete as well||
I say pay the football and basketball players. You don’t have to pay anyone else. Billions of dollars are generated every year from those sports. The players deserve it. When my sport generates $1b for the Big Ten then my successors can get paid too but it’s doubtful that even with inflation it ever will.
|04/19/2018 - 10:58pm||Never have / never will||
For all the reasons you state above I have been stone-cold sober for every Michigan game.
|03/09/2018 - 1:07pm||Oh! I know! I know!||
User name checks out.
|03/06/2018 - 4:18pm||I came this far into the thread||
To say no way. I had dinner with Paul Allen in London just two nights ago. Bateman?!? He’s a dweeb! Hilarious you think he could do that!
|02/21/2018 - 3:26pm||Anti-Semitic comments||
Anti-Semitic comments - March 3rd 2002 NY Times.
Recommendation to use nuclear weapons on Vietnamese - master thesis Eastern IL Jan 2017
AIDS comments - Columbus Ohio 1993
Did he retract some of these with a very soft “I don’t know why I said that” apology? Yes some. But that is pretty weak sauce compared to the vigor and certainty with which he delivered those messages.
|01/31/2018 - 2:53pm||This is the post I have waited for||
Been waiting since Friday. Thank you Brian for putting it all together in one place and asking the right questions.
|12/23/2017 - 9:40pm||People using their phones||
People using their phones to comment on MGoBlog during movies. Especially when they sit right in front of me.
IS LUKE SKYWALKER NOT ENTERTAINING YOU ENOUGH???

Do you mean east side of the state?

I️ asked a brain doctor in charge of a concussion clinic who sees a lot of football players. She said that there is a very good chance a player with a concussion could play the next game and many do pass the protocol after a couple days. Without specific knowledge of Hill’s injury you have no idea if he will play or not.
|11/11/2017 - 5:58pm||Update on Lavert Hill?||
I️ haven’t seen him out there in the 2nd half. Am I️ missing him or is he on the bench somewhere?
|10/30/2017 - 9:12pm||FWIW - Balas||
My friends and family who primarily read Balas as opposed to MgoBlog have been confidently proclaiming for weeks that Harbaugh should be held accountable for Peters being a complete bust. Whatever Balas said it was a clear indictment of Peters ability to play and Harbaugh’s ability to identify and coach.
|10/24/2017 - 3:23pm||Mostly agree BUT||
When Brian writes:
“Nor is there a point in arguing with people who don't think Brady Hoke and his #37 and #20 2014-15 recruiting classes don't still have an impact on Michigan's performance.”
MSU was #26 and #23 and lost a lot of those players to discipline and McDowell to the draft. Why does it seem like that impacted MSU less than being #20 and #37 and retaining most of those players impacted Michigan?
Michigan must have at least 8-10 players more than MSU does from those two classes still on the roster and being coached. It feels like that kind of personnel difference should be more noticeable.
|10/22/2017 - 9:56am||Further along?||
Wasn’t Dantonio 7-6 in his 3rd year?
|06/29/2017 - 3:25pm||Correction - I just looked it up||
Alums are not considered boosters. Only if they have represented the athletic department or a particular sports team do they become boosters. So Love's table tennis doesn't count. The other way one becomes a booster is making a donation including the PSD for season tickets. It's hard to imagine being a local alum and charitably inclined that Love hasn't made donations to the AD or purchased season tickets but if the NCAA cleared him then he's ok.
|06/29/2017 - 11:38am||NCAA definition||
If you have a connection to the school - including a degree - you are a booster for that school in the NCAA's eyes. You are also a booster if you are a season ticket holder. Per NCAA definition (unless it's changed recently) the guy is considered a booster for both IU (his undergrad) and Michigan (his MBA) as well as any school he buys season tickets for. For Michigan's sake this guy should NEVER TWEET AT RECRUITS. Or do other illegal things.

Of how you are presenting this information.
|04/02/2017 - 8:26am||Harbaugh Toolage||
Is what he does on Twitter to ol' Petey Finebaum.
|03/29/2017 - 3:36pm||4 years guaranteed||
Johnnie signed a scholarship guaranteed for 4 years. I don't see why manipulating or pushing him out to any degree is acceptable no matter how he and his mom react.
What is this "academic only" scholarship you are talking about? It's been a decade since I played at NU but they were pretty clear that any scholarship money counts against the team. If the kid has an academic scholarship but plays basketball that counts against basketball's athletic scholarship total. What has changed or what am I missing?
|03/20/2017 - 7:34am||WHY?!||
After 24 years I think it's time to leave Nancy Kerrigan alone.
|03/17/2017 - 9:47pm||Yes||
If I knew how to post a pic I would post a pic of Harbaugh and Jerry Hanlon hanging out by the students at a game last year.
|03/14/2017 - 7:33am||The most 1993 guy ever||
Your username is even "The Great Cornholio". Classic.
|03/14/2017 - 6:58am||Stupid idea||
Maybe you are a really cool guy that kids just relate to or maybe you found one or two exceptions to the rule.
If Coach Partridge is telling you not to do it - don't do it.
I can tell you as a former recruit who was friends with other former recruits and also did my share of recruiting that generally recruits do not want to hear from you. They already think they are cooler than you (and everyone) and they want their social media free of clutter so that they can use it to stay in touch with their friends and girls - whom they also think are cooler than you. There are people they want to hear from, famous people, hot girls, coaches (like Wheatley or Harbaugh) but they don't want 1,000 messages if those messages are just regular people they don't have all that much respect for.
So don't tell people to interact with recruits when your only success is "a couple guys who went elsewhere" and the risk is "Aubrey Solomon almost didn't come specifically because adults who like Michigan couldn't keep it together online"
|03/13/2017 - 12:19pm||Just Harbaugh, Meyer, and Saban?||
Any concern about your kid playing for Dantonio? His competitiveness might not rub you the wrong way as a parent but how about those locker room issues? Rumors of kids being told they don't have to do their school work, sexual assault, racial slurs, teammates sleeping with other teammates girlfriends. Guys maybe being kicked off the team or quitting and then suddenly showing up to the bus for a Penn St. game?
I much prefer those other 3 locker rooms you mentioned.
|02/11/2017 - 7:38am||No||
That would be a violation.
|02/06/2017 - 2:08pm||NCAA||
Because the NCAA is careful not to allow any profit off a player's likeness. If you sell a UTL Adidas jersey that's #16 Denard's lawyer might argue Denard is entitled to part of the proceeds of that sale assuming the jersey can be authenticated. However cut that jersey up into wallet pieces and lose track of which jersey's were used it sure isn't the player's likeness making you buy.
I learned this from an authenticator I asked about my Michigan helmet cufflinks.
|02/04/2017 - 10:06am||Tressel liked Shazor a lot too||
Tressel could always count on his receivers to past Shazor even if the rest of the defense was doing its job.
|01/30/2017 - 7:43am||I thought football had to be||
I thought football had to be a full ride or nothing? If they take 1/2 from one kid what happens to the 1/2 they didn't take?
|01/28/2017 - 9:11am||I agree they are losing a lot||
I agree they are losing a lot and it will be be very tough for them Who is the "top QB" you think they are losing? In my view Lewerke had the most upside of anyone I saw them play and supposedly DeWeaver has a lot of potential too. QB is one spot where I think MSU could be better in 2017. Especially if Corley can help.
|01/13/2017 - 11:31am||I was also at the game||
I was also at the game sitting up high at midfield and didn't notice it. I don't recall it being a story either. Today it would be Instafaced and Snappered all over the world.
This is the very first I have heard of it.

Bring back the troughs! Seriously speed this up. Oh and also have a Homeland security officer at the Out door of every restroom to violently tackle and send to Guantanamo all those who try to skip the line by going in the out door.
|01/06/2017 - 7:17am||You can do loans but you||
You can do loans but you cannot get financial aid as a walk on football player. This is to prevent schools from giving out the equivalent of extra scholarships through, "financial aid" to athletes. All he can do is private loans.
