James Franklin fired his agent and is now repped by super agent Jimmy Sexton
Mentioned under the 3rd bullet point in this article.
There's also a very long thread about it on PSU's 247 site with the following post:
"In 2017 [Sexton] represented all but 3 SEC head coaches. In the '17 cycle there were 6 HC openings in the SEC and he filled 5 of them."
Franklin is clearly looking to get paid. Maybe he twists PSU's arm into a major raise, but this also seems like a clear precursor to Franklin seriously shopping himself around this offseason with the goal of jumping ship.

Having lived here for over a decade, I submit this:
His name is probably Giles James Sexton II, but because his family was too simple to be able to discern between Giles I and Giles II, he was always called Jimmy. It is overly common for southern folk to go by their middle name or by a name that is completely separate than their given name.

If we're talking Texas, where I went to high school, I submit this: Coy Raymond Lawson Jr., son of Coy Raymond "Ray" Lawson Sr., and grandson of Coyle Tyree Lawson, who was married to Alma Dee, nee Dunk, Lawson, daughter of Winton Wallace Dunk the 3rd, whose father, Shree Dunk, fell at the Battle of the Alamo. (I pulled all these names from my list of Facebook friends)

The Franklin hype for every top tier job is astonishing. This is a guy who is 8-9 in his last 17 Big 10 games. About to be 8-10.
He has a losing record against both Michigan and MSU. He's beaten OSU only once. If not for that blocked FG five years ago, he'd be out of a job.
October 25th, 2021 at 6:07 PM ^
I don’t get how some have lambasted Harbaugh and are so quick to forget how bad Penn st was last season, also dude hasn’t won many big games.
October 25th, 2021 at 6:10 PM ^
His road record is just as bad if not worse than Harbaugh's. That one 2016 season is doing a lot of work for his reputation, and as we know there are so many tiny variances that could have changed those talking points.
October 26th, 2021 at 6:42 AM ^
And yet everybody around here wants Harbaugh fired. Boggles the mind.
October 25th, 2021 at 7:40 PM ^
He's beaten and played OSU close in his tenure.
OSU unfortunately always peaks agains UM, and we shit the bed.
If Harbaugh had pulled off the 2016 robbery in CBUS and another upset of OSU during his tenure, we probably wouldn't be hearing many complaints.
A couple of the flukish losses against MSU also contribute to the "Harbaugh sucks!" narrative, but it's really about OSU.
October 25th, 2021 at 7:41 PM ^
During the last 45 years, UM has had 5 7-0 starts. Two of them under JH.
During the last 20 years, SF 49ers have had 4 winning seasons. Three of them under JH.

October 25th, 2021 at 7:38 PM ^
Atmospheres in all White Out Games have aided him, not just that Ohio St one 5 years ago. They would have very likely lost to Auburn in Auburn this year.
October 25th, 2021 at 7:52 PM ^
If Urbs calls a timeout to setup the field goal that game is over. Colossal blunder.
October 25th, 2021 at 8:58 PM ^
The only difference between James Franklin and Jim Harbaugh is a blocked field goal. Penn State was far from the best team in the B1G the year they won
October 26th, 2021 at 9:14 AM ^
Yes, as evidenced by the curb stomping we gave them and then getting left out of the playoff despite winning the B1G Title game.

Losing to Illinois doesn't provide very much leverage.
October 25th, 2021 at 7:00 PM ^
Meh, it's one game with an injured QB. Nobody serious is going to make a decision off of that.
But what they are going to make a decision on, his full body of work, still has some holes IMO.
October 25th, 2021 at 7:04 PM ^
Did the injured QB give up 357 on the ground to Illinois?
Even if it was the entire 2nd string DL, that's inexcusable.
October 25th, 2021 at 11:23 PM ^
Can we have those stats when we play them? I would 100% be satisfied if we Washington them unlike few others. But hey 357yds on the ground with our crew would make me giddy
October 25th, 2021 at 7:02 PM ^
Maybe the former agent was drawing up those two point conversion plays.
Or coordinating PSU's run defense.
October 25th, 2021 at 6:05 PM ^
Seems like this would have been a tremendous move in any other 48 hour span other than just after “lost as 24 point favorites in an OT game the nation is laughing at.”
