Cannot stand to watch them

Ideally yes, but how do you…

Ideally yes, but how do you do a Meritocracy when Big Ten and SEC teams play significantly harder schedules than the ACC, Mountain West, etc?

9 times out of 10 the Big Ten 4th best team would smoke the ACC/Mountain West/Big 12 runner up.

I haven't heard of any…

I haven't heard of any relationship issues between Hart and Moore.  I think Hart is just a really ambitious (and talented) guy who wants his shot as a HC somewhere.  He's probably going to need to be an OC at some point first, and that' difficult when we have Moore (also a young guy) as coach.

As much as I love Hart, he probably needs to move to another program if he wants to move up.  Many of us have faced similar roadblocks in our careers and lateral moves are the way around this.

Sounds like Moore is really…

Sounds like Moore is really doubling down on young/experienced guys.  He's either going to look like a genius (and likely start a HUGE coaching tree), or he's going to fail spectacularly.  I'm here for the ride.

I suspect it is.  I worked…

He made the right choice for himself.  Also this team is so bad he would not have saved us.

Could not disagree more. …

Could not disagree more.  What makes sports fun are the close games and the coin flips.  Who wants to just watch blow outs all day long?

I love FGs and extra points…

I love FGs and extra points.  Some of the most dramatic college moments involve FG attempts for better or worse.  The Iron Bowl return, all those crazy FSU games, our 2000 Orange bowl, that game vs NW where Dileo slides in for the hold, MSU's fake for the win over ND, I could go on and on...Lots of memorable games decided with the kicker.

Similar to your suggestion…

Similar to your suggestion about having a middle post, I was thinking during bowl season it would be fun if a kick that shanks off the upright and goes in should be worth extra points because it's hard to do.  Middle post would reward accuracy.  Bonus points off the side would add to the risk/reward (you get 0 or you get bonus).

When I was in high school…

When I was in high school our football coach required that we go out for another sport to help keep us conditioned in the off season.  I chose wrestling because I thought it would translate well into football and because our high school was the premier wrestling program in the state.

I am not proud to say I washed out in a week.  Our coach was no BS.  We ran stairs till we puked.  I (a novice who had never wrestled before) was often tines paired up with a multiple time State Champ since we were the same weight class. He repeatedly rag-dolled me every day for a week.  I had bones and muscles so sore from being contorted into shapes I did not know were possible with the human body.

Wrestlers have my respect....but it was not for me.

I wonder if this hire is any…

I wonder if this hire is any indication that Moore could see what we all saw the last few years with JJ/Cade.   Maybe it was Harbaugh after all who handcuffed our QBs

I'm reminded of a tweet (I…

I'm reminded of a tweet (I think it was from Anson) when Hackett brought Harbaugh back:   "We're bringing the band back together".

We have Harbaugh to thank…

We have Harbaugh to thank for how late in the cycle it is.  Yes, both genuinely (thank you for the NC), and sarcastically (thanks for dragging out the NFL flirtation so Warde/Moore couldn't have a plan in place).

Campbell also was OC at Old…

Campbell also was OC at Old Dominion, IIRC.  Is there anything to glean from his playcalling in that role?  Curious in particular if we will pass more.  I have to imagine Moore wants to "Smash"...but you never know..

That worked so well last…

That worked so well last time we tried it...I still have Carlos Spicyweiner's banner etched in my brain.

They should be able to…

They should be able to address it in the draft this year.  They need a stud DE opposite Hutch, probably upgrade OLB and of course secondary.

Pass defense was questionable but I felt like the biggest weakness of the team was in facing mobile QBs (and Purdy beat them there too).  Too often Hutch gets doubled or goes too far up field and the D line loses contain.  They MUST get better at containing QBS.

Where is Ono in all of this?…

Where is Ono in all of this?  Remember how he was this cool president that embraced athletics and was competitive when it came to sports?   How is he not furious with Warde right now for gutting our coaching staff?

I want Sherrone to succeed…

I want Sherrone to succeed just like anyone else.  The last three years have been AMAZING.  But we need to set proper expectations:

1. Sherrone is no Jim Harbaugh.  Harbaugh was a unicorn.  Successful as a player, an NFL Coach and a College coach.  Sherrone (and really any candidate we choose) is going to be a step down from Harbaugh.

2. Moore was 4-0 this year but he had the benefit of Minter's defense.  Minter and the Baltimore defense is a bit of a unicorn in itself.  It is unlikely Moore gets a DCoordinator as good as Minter.

3. In the games this year where Moore was head coach, it felt to me the offense was not as efficient.  I hoped to spend some time reviewing data to see if it was true or just my gut feel.  Even if we remove JJ's injury at Penn State and how it impacted the 4th quarter...I feel the playcalling was disjointed and offense wasn't clicking as well as when Harbaugh or others were calling plays.   Is this fair to Moore?  Probably not.  He was trying to run Harbaugh's offense and we dont know what Moore's offense will look like...but it's a data point.

Jim has been handling…

Jim has been handling contracts since Warde was a baby.  He knows how to leverage both sides.

It may not be the money as…

It may not be the money as much as the status of being highest paid.  By all accounts Harbaugh is an ULTRA competitive person.  Maybe that means something for him to be THE top coach in the country.

Sainristil slammed more…

Sainristil slammed more doors closed on our opponents in his career than any other wolverine I remember.   Including Woodson.

There is my hot take.

For me:  Jake Thaw falling…

For me:  Jake Thaw falling on the ball at the 1 yard line in the title game.  It was the biggest emotional roller coaster I have felt in a long time from "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" to "THANK YOU FOR HAVING THE AWARENESS TO SAVE OUR SEASON!".

I feel bad for the shit Jake took on some of those plays, he probably had more impact on our season in his limited snaps than Corum/McCarthy, etc.

Can I at least cameo with…

Can I at least cameo with him to find out why my vacuum cleaner isn't working?

That would be my list of…

That would be my list of what changed also:

1. Sheila Ford Hamp took over and actually knew what she was doing when she hired...

2. Brad Holmes.  Who knows how to identify talent and is a wizzard at drafting...

3. Talent like Hutch, Gibbs, Branch etc.  These guys are "winners" and know how to build winning culture in the locker room.

This seems doable to me.  …

This seems doable to me.   Break his salary down into a more granular level:

-Recruiting/Fundraising/off season stuff: $X per year

-In-season weekly game prep:  $X per week

-In-game coaching: $X per game

Then you add a clause that says he is immune from firing, but if any NCAA/Big Ten sanctions prevent him from doing any of these tasks, then his salary for said task goes to $1 and his pay will roll to the assistant who takes his job duties for that time period.

1. This protects the U and doesn't lock in his salary if he gets in trouble.  The coaching staff salary is flat, it just reallocates who gets the money if Harbaugh gets in trouble.

2. It rewards the assitants (like Sherrone) who gets stuck with double the work.  Harbaugh believes in meritocracy and paying people fairly so he should be on board with this and it should force him into a corner here, he cannot refute that having an assistant wear two hats shouldnt get paid more.

Priority one should be…

Priority one should be retaining Ben Herbert.  Then proceed with your list

Yes, this.  In an age where…

Yes, this.  In an age where offenses dominate we just won an NC by keeping every opponent under 25 points.

In many games this year the defense was forced to keep the game in check while the offense shot themselves in the foot.

Jay sits at the head of the Big Person's table.  This National Championship just booted Jack from the head spot.  Sorry Grandpa.

But going deeper than that,…

But going deeper than that, JJ is at BEST going to be the #4 QB taken this year behind Wiliams, Maye, and Penix.  He likely could drop further.

If he comes back next year, who is he drafting against?  Shadeur Sanders and??   I'm sure there are a few but I think he moves up 1-2 slots in the draft order.

I feel very similarly about…

I feel very similarly about the 1997 team and last night.  Maybe we are about the same age. I lived/breathed that 1997 team.

As good as WillJ is at…

As good as WillJ is at shutting people down, there is no doubt in my mind that Mikey has had more clutch moments.  Whether it is game changing INT or getting his hand in there cs an open Cade Stover in the End Zone.

"I said that everyone was…

"I said that everyone was going to float that night, but the people who had invested more would find themselves lighter, and go higher."

This accurately sums up why I am a college fan above NFL.   The lows are lower.  The highs are higher.  The NFL, while a higher level of competition is...sterile and misses the emotion/passion of the college game.
