So you are saying that if the money provided by these donors were to disappear, somehow through some magic beans they will be replaced out of thin air?  Makes sense.

It is totally fine with me.  I don’t see anything wrong with. Who are these donors hurintg? No one. But they are savings UM, fans and tax payers a lot of money.

I suggest that you find a different cause to fund.

Your take on 3 jobs in 3 years is not right.  He lost the job at OSU because he could not coach offense.  He left Minn because he knew he would get the OL job at UM. He did not get fired because he could not recruit.

What is the point?  So, we have missed on a few top in state players.  Everyone sees it, including Jim.  With success on the field, next year will be different.  If we finish 8-4 again, then we will have bigger problems.  For now, I am going with Jim, realizing that the likes of you were ready to fire JB because he did convince an 18 year old to pick UM.

A person close to the situation told me that JB's plans for his post UM career was an important factor in his willingness to talk to Pistons -- perhaps a front office position once he retires from UM.

06/01/2018 - 2:54pm He is a very QB

May not win the Heisman but he is going to be one of the top QBs in the country. We better be ready when we meet them in EL.

05/23/2018 - 3:32am He is very good QB. Last year was

His first year of playing and I think he set a couple MSU records. Some NFL draft sites have him as a 1st round pick. He scares the shit out of me.

05/23/2018 - 3:27am I don’t understand the point of this post

Freed is reporting on a lawsuit, which or may not have any merits. I don’t see anything wrong.

05/19/2018 - 9:00am Most of the items are from his NHL days

Only a few UM related items are there and not very valuable ones. There are a lot of stuff and I know that he has already donated a bunch to NHL and UM.

05/14/2018 - 9:55am Would you have said the same thing at the end of 2016?

Would you have said the same thing at the end of 2016?

I think a reasonable answer is no.  JH was considered to be on track.  If not for the injury to WS, we would have won at least 1 of the 3 games we lost.  Even a 10-2 in BIG was considered good.  So he was not clueless in 2016 and suddenly became clueless in 2017. He had a bad year which was partly his fault and partly bad luck -- 2 QBs getting injured.

I consider MD to be an excellent coach, but I am sure some were saying that MD was clueless after 2016 season.  We saw what happened in 2017.

Judging a coach with a good to excellent track record based on 1 year of data is stupid.

05/13/2018 - 1:25pm I believe the title should read "... WAS all over map"

I believe the title should read "... WAS all over map".  He has no idea what the game plan is for this year.   The criticism is valid with regard to last year.  As for this year, he has no idea how Patterson will be used or who will be the primary play caller.  It was not a well-oiled machine last year.  It could be something entirely different this year.

05/10/2018 - 7:57pm Hate to say it but Lewerke is really good

This was really his first year and was good. He scares the heck out of me with one year of experience.

05/09/2018 - 7:57am Assuming that the higher seeds win

I find it odd that we will have to play the second semi game and with no rest will have to play, while Minn will have a 3 hour break.

05/06/2018 - 8:28am Assists. James is leading his team in

scoring and assists. MJ was a great scorer and defender, but did not get his teammates as involved.

05/06/2018 - 12:28am He has surpassed MJ

Without James, this team would not even make the playoff.

05/04/2018 - 4:51pm What is he interested in?

As a Ross alum, it is sad to say that for Finance and Econ Chicago is much better. Too much turnover in finance dept at Ross.  Ross is better for strategic mgt and marketing.

05/04/2018 - 3:38pm Stupid series of articles by FP

and a stupid post based on them. First, there has been no “corruption” at the endowment. Lack of control does not mean someone has taken advantage of them. First, FP accused endowment of allocating money to funds run by alums, which is a very common practice among univ endowments. When it was shown that these funds had actually performed better than their peers and some had cut their fees for UM assets, FP changed its story and focused on the inflated tax benefits that the donors get. That did prove to be a common practice as well and now FP is changing its tune. Classic click bait. By the way, the reporters working on the story know less about endowment management than a junior Ross student.

04/17/2018 - 3:40pm But they don't account for Glenn Frey

being born in Detroit.  Glenn started Eagles.

04/17/2018 - 3:38pm Makes no sense

Glenn Frey, one of the two main members of Eagles was born in Detroit.

04/16/2018 - 4:31pm Watched the BTN review of Spring games

Watched the BTN review of Spring games. They were pretty negative on us. It was not clear if they watched any of the practices or the scrimmage on Saturday but was surprised by their negative tone of the offense. Even on defense they sounded a little negative because we give up too many big plays.

04/15/2018 - 12:57pm Very nice get

Welcome aboard young man.

04/12/2018 - 10:02pm Yes Yes Yes

Yes.  Just the same was Jets were affected when they were filmed for the HBO special.

For instance, everyone was wondering why JH was rather quite on the sideline.  Now we know why -- he was being recorded all the time.

It affected how the most important players -- the QBs -- behaved.

The only one not affected was Brown.

This was a terrible idea.

04/12/2018 - 1:38pm The most surprising thing is that

Texas is not #1 every year.  The have a lot of money and a large talent pool.

04/07/2018 - 9:15pm I watched them all and the first

reaction was that this must have been a big distraction. It was a great idea for fans to see the inner working of a college football program. But was terrible idea as it negatively impacted the performance on the field.

04/06/2018 - 4:33pm Actually, I think we are seeing a bump from

2013 run. The current crop of kids were just starting to become serious players and some became fans of UM back then. It will be a couple of years before we see the effect of this year’s run. All we need is some degree of success the next two years.

04/04/2018 - 11:43am Thank you

Very helpful and insightful: This post and the replies.

03/31/2018 - 4:24pm Ole Miss's decision to fight is not that relevant.

Ole Miss's decision to fight is not that relevant. It was always assumed that they would fight it as they are figthing the other violations as well.  This was going to be the NCAA's decision, and unless Ole Miss is disputing some of the case's facts, which means disputing the violations, its response will be not be a game changer.  Nothing has changed. Shea may be declared ineligible but not because of Ole Miss's response.

03/31/2018 - 4:07pm As fans there is only 1 reason we should care about the AD

The decision to hire or fire a coach.  That is the only one that an AD has almost total control over.  There are other decisions, but the AD is not in full control: e.g., ticket prices, scheduling, fund raising, new buildings, quality of food served etc.  When it comes to the most important decision that an AD can make, I have not seen even mild criticism of Warde's decisions to fire, hire or retain a specific coaches since his arrival on campus.

03/31/2018 - 3:21pm Some people were mad at him for asking Red

to stay one more year when he had just arrived on campus.  I think that was the right decision.  Then some people were mad because he did not schedule a night game.  The rest of the haters just want to hate.

03/31/2018 - 3:16pm The beard or the man? He is an excellent AD

He will be remembered in the same class as Don Canham. I worked with him in the past; he has a great eye for coaching talent.  Just look at the three most recent hires and the fact that he was able to convince Bakick to turn down Stanford and stay here.

03/26/2018 - 11:02pm I read that Luke never played basketball.

For coaches out there — how unusual is this? A good coach who never played the game. Is this why he is a defensive specialist?

My guess is that it might be more common in basketball than football, hockey, or baseball. Just a guess.

03/22/2018 - 11:19am I will go with a group

The OL is going to surprise us.  The expectation is so low that any type of performance will surprise us.  Also, I think they will be a lot better than last year's group.

03/10/2018 - 6:01pm Our OL will be just fine this year

I am believer in Ed Warinner.  He has been a very good college OL coach at multiple schools.  Besides OSU, he did a good job at ND. By his second year, ND's OL we pretty good.  Of course his OL was very good at OSU.  In his last year, he had only one starter back and the team still finished top 10 in rushing.  Having Ezekiel Elliot was a big help, but still needed an OL to open the holes.  Even in Kansas, a team that won only 4 games in 2004, he had a 1,000 yard runner and team averaged 4.1 YPC.

I see this year's OL play to be as good if not better than the OL of the last year of RR.

03/06/2018 - 7:51pm This is so depressing as I was hoping

to become BB coach one day. I know nothing.

03/05/2018 - 3:28pm He does not have an enlarged heart.

Had an irregular EKG, which is not normally used to detect enlarged heart.  X-rays would show that.  Not a doctor but both parents had serious heart issues include enlarged heart.
