This does not explain why he was absent during the parade and the celebration. There were no discussions of coaching change or who should be the OC. If it was not a health issue, then it must have been something besides wanting a promotion.
There is nothing new here. But reading what we had read before in bits and pieces in one place is ugly. What has taken place in private seems very consistent with what we have seen from Howard in the public. Someone who treats his son in front of everyone as described in the article should not be a head coach at UM.
I would guess these rumors have started with people in the AD who want to see Howard go. It seems Warde is not going to deny or quash them, hoping Howard would see the writing on the wall and leave on his own, thus avoiding any backlash from some alums.
Speaking of my institution, our AD reports to several committees and the President. He has three Associate ADs. Warde has the final say, but he needs to get everyone on board, including prominent alums (e.g., Rose); otherwise, the next coach will be at a disadvantage—remember Rich Rod?
They have 5 QBs, and they all think they should start. Are they all going to get enough reps? How many will leave after the spring game, having cashed the NIL check and realizing they are not starting?
It is a weak year because there are no 1st round talents. However, in most drafts most of the top RBs are picked in late 2nd and 3rd round. So, if he comes out of combines as 4-6 best RBs, still will have a chance to go in round 3. Salary wise the difference between 3rd and 4th rounds is not that significant. The problem is that RBs have a short shelf life and cannot count on the 2nd and 3rd contracts where the real money is made.
He is ranked somewhere around 4-6 best RBs. If we go by previous drafts, on average, 7 RB are picked by the end of 3rd round. So, the most likely spot for him would be the middle or the end of 3rd round.
Is it safe to assume that the scheme could be in trouble if the defense faces a mobile QB? Perhaps that is why Wink's defenses have not been as successful in recent years -- there are more mobile QBs in the NFL. How many mobile QBs are we going to face this year?
Current players and recruits can choose not to sign or leave. I am not saying that JH should be kept at all costs. But having a relationship with those teams has some value.
I can see Warde making a move if some elite coach expresses interest (through agents). Either way, it will be a tough call.
JH has one year on his contract. I would assume that JH would walk away once his contract expires and his son graduates. Warde will not fire him with one year left on his contract so as not to destroy the program's relationship with the FAB5 group.
I hope you are right. We are putting a LOT on SM's shoulders. I expect some transfers through the portal and serious hiccups in coaching both offense and defense.
Harbaugh with good coaches = 13-15 wins per season
Harbaugh with average coaches = 8-9 wins per season
As for high school coaches, both Bellamy and Partridge came from HS. They can recruit.
If I were SM, I would go hard after some NFL coordinators — teams that run the same system. How about Ravens and Chargers?
Seriously, the next 2 years are lost. I will bring a group of young coaches from lower division and even high school with small buyouts. Use this year to identify the right coaches and then go after them hard next year at the right time, not in February
You sound as if Moore was a potted plant during the interview. Easy stuff that novices like you and the rest of us notice are very low-hanging fruits for Moore and Wink. I believe that Moore has assurances from Wink that there will be continuity in the system. Also, I believe Wink has come here to freshen up his resume and get back into the big league. He is not stupid to set up a new system with some teenagers. He has seen Minter and Mac's success and would certainly want some of that.
Does he have the knowledge to run that system? I think so. Does he think the system will be successful? I think so. Maybe he came here to learn more about the system his assistants perfected. Given the circumstances and the fact that every team is looking at the Ravens system and wants to hire from the tree, this is the best Moore could do at this moment.
You are posting BS. SpaceCoyoto has both positive and negative things to say about him. If anything he seems to disagree with this Excel guy.
Wink isn’t all downside. The major benefits is he’s an established play caller and game planner and can own the defensive rooms, which is a major benefit for a first time head coach, especially coming from the O side.
Why? I am pretty sure that these coaches dreamed about coaching in the NFL. Just like players, they want to go to the big league. NFL offers more money and a better lifestyle. Do you really think coaches get up each morning, looking forward to traveling around the country begging 18-year-olds to sign with them? It sucks.
Do you seriously think Jim is not trying to win a Super Bowl? He wants the best coaching staff money can buy. If he could, he would raid his brother's coaches. He does not care about anything but serving himself and the people paying his salary. Every one of us would do the same.
Also, SM makes $5.5 mm per year on a 5-year contract. The next two years are going to suck. We will lose players and will have an 8-4 team. If he is worth the money, I expect him to field a competitive team in year 3.
I am pretty sure that if Kirby were to go to the NFL directly, he would take a few Georgia coaches with him. This has nothing to do with SM, Warde, AD, and so on. The NFL is a better deal, and JH wants to work with people he trusts. I am sure SM is doing everything he can to keep them, but the NFL offers more money and a better lifestyle for the coaches.
Jim left to win a Super Bowl, and he is not going to give up on his dream to support UM. He is going to try to get coaches who can help him win. Besides, the coaches who are living want this. Who is excited about the recruiting process and working with teens?
I’m not sure that will work. They will be looking for head coaching job next year. I like our young hungry group of coaches. Jim brought a group young coaches and the program took off.
The problem with this setup is that we could lose both Clickscale & Elston. Elston left ND because he was passed over for the DC job, and Clickscale already has the Co-DC's title.
As always, thank you for a great summary. Very disappointing. KBA teams were never consistent, but this one seems to be the worse. One night it is turnovers and last night was rebounding.
Perhaps she she needs a fresh start by replacing her assistants. Just like Howard.

They are going to wait until the sentencing is done. Most relevant facts will be known by then.
Most good coaches are going to the NCAA. So, I do not expect any announcement until their teams are eliminated.
Great summary. Medved is my candidate. We are somewhat unlucky as OSU is in the market too and they have a head start.

Thank you for the information. Which ones do you think would be a good matchup for us?

My money is on the Broncos.
The fifth one is an inverted map of Michigan. If it were a stamp, that would be worth a small fortune!

Fuck! Yesterday, visited a friend in the hospital, recovering from the surgery for colon cancer. It is a horrible way to go. RIP Craig.

Crazy that Nabers is the highest and graded higher than Harrison!

They beat us last year, too (Women's Gym), but our program is in excellent hands.
You are right about Softball. They are doing better than expected so far. Tholl could be the real deal.
Actually, Warde asked me to gauge what MGOBLOG people think. I think he is freaking out.
But no coach worth having is free to talk to them or make a decision. Nothing is gained.
There will be a recruiting coordinator and will be a football person; e.g., Denard could get promoted.
He worked under Minter at Mich as an analyst.

Unless, there were any misconducts, why not wait until the end of the year. Maybe some violations?

My mistake. It does end in 25-26. Damn, I do not want him to stay another 2 years.
JH has one year on his contract. I would assume that JH would walk away once his contract expires and his son graduates. Warde will not fire him with one year left on his contract so as not to destroy the program's relationship with the FAB5 group.
Excellent. I felt good about Wink and now feel much better.

I would move Bellamy to Safety. He is not a good WR coach and could connect with our DBs.

Tholl said that she is using the turnaround in the football program as the blueprint. She was serious.
pitching = running game, and of course defense is the same everywhere.

Let's go, Wink.
I said positive and negative. He likes the fact that he is an established guy and can run the defense with no help from Moore. That is a big plus.
Hmm. Isn't this you?
You are posting BS. SpaceCoyoto has both positive and negative things to say about him. If anything he seems to disagree with this Excel guy.
You had already posted this. Do you think having it here again will make it better?
I think Jim was fired too
This makes clear. Jim wants to surround himself with people he trusts. That is why he hired from his staff at UM and then this guy.
Here is why coaches are leaving
Why? I am pretty sure that these coaches dreamed about coaching in the NFL. Just like players, they want to go to the big league. NFL offers more money and a better lifestyle. They make more money and do not have to recruit.
Moore has been the coach for one week. Besides, this is a good hire.
UMass was terrible but their offense was functional. Had a RB with 1500 yards rushing and a WR with 12 TDs. A promising hire.
I’m not sure that will work. They will be looking for head coaching job next year. I like our young hungry group of coaches. Jim brought a group young coaches and the program took off.
I am going to take the bullets, but here is a reminder about Warde's statement to BIG back in November:
The problem with this setup is that we could lose both Clickscale & Elston. Elston left ND because he was passed over for the DC job, and Clickscale already has the Co-DC's title.
The best approach is to have Clickscale+Elston as Co-DC and then get this guy to be LB coach:
