It’s hard to name another WR class with as much NFL potential as UM’s 2017 commits.  So it’s hard to say the recruiting isn’t  there.  I’m saying that I believe some of these recent commits can stick around and develop into very productive weapons in the big ten even if tgey don’t contribute immediately.  See Karan Higdon for example.

Question for anyone who might know: is Roundtree able to recruit? Or is his position one of those which prevent off campus recruiting per NCAA bylaws?

08/04/2018 - 3:59pm I thought I heard back…

I thought I heard back during spring that this kid took a visit to AA and was ready to commit then but was told to hold off by the coaches.  I.E. we are waiting to feel out where we stand with some other higher ranked recruits (Ford, C.Johnson).

It would seem to me the take is indicative that the staff doesn’t feel good about where they stand with those others.

Either way if you are in blue and winged helmet I’m behind you.  Count me in the camp which believes a player can develop and produce beyond the rankings, the offer sheet is concerning, however he camped and the coaches saw him live.

Also I’m of the opinion that Ronnie Bell is going to surprise, there is a place in the B10 for good athletes who run crisp routes but might not be 6-4 with a 38 inch vertical Wisconsin has managed some all big ten players at the WR position with similar backgrounds.

So basically MSU took out insurance policies to cover for sexual misconduct liability....and kept Nassar employed after 2014 scandal which was dismissed but provided for Nassar to be chaperoned(witness anyone?) when conducting “sensitive” procedures....

there is no doubt that the powers that bee at that institution where well aware of what was happening and basically forced any victims to make them change.  Disgusting and terrible no way in hell should anyone that was in a leadership position there be retained.  How there is not a team of NCAA incestigators/ compliance officers mandated to monitor this univerisity in person is beyond me

07/26/2018 - 1:14pm Would it be out of the realm…

Would it be out of the realm that a recruit gets added last minute to the BBQ this weekend?  I say that because I’ve read a couple comments from program insiders which have alluded to there being some forthcoming announcements at the BBQ. If Hill isn’t going to OU this weekend maybe his camps trying to sort out last minute travel plans ups to AA.  The players and recruits seem confident Hill is leaning Michigan too.

Also on a side note I’ve been thinking about our staffs pursuit of certain positions which predicted the Herron flip as pursuit of WDE prospects ramped up a couple weeks before the the flip to Stanford.  I’m wondering if in the same vein that the staffs lack of LB targets is any indication of where they believe Crouch is leaning.  I think he plays LB in college, imagine a 235 lb viper who can cover could be a good sell to that prospect as there would be no one else in the country playing that type of spot at that size. Would be nice to have a will who can cover too.

Sooo....I’m going to throw this out there due to the chatter about a surprise 3rd transfer that never was really came to light and with the addition of all these kickers including moody to a scholly...aaaaand that little sideline bark at JH during the season but I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Quinn Nordin is leaving.

06/25/2018 - 2:04pm In fairness there’s really…

In fairness there’s really only one team that pulls pretty much any player it wants from the blue chips and that team is not in the north. Michigan is firmly on that second tier in recruiting along with ttds, Clemson, SC, Georgia, Okie and the Catholics etc.  I try to look at some of these three stars and see what the coaches might be seeing a maybe not a complete athletic freak but 2-3 things they might be able to do better than the rest with the coaches putting them in a position to be asked to play to those strengths.  That’s how games are won IMO.

06/25/2018 - 1:55pm Bluey...or maizen (or…

Bluey...or maizen (or whatever) I haven’t been on this board a long time but I actually kinda like you...hardly ever agree with you but you are a consistent dude.  You have to admit though that Harbaugh and his 7 million dollar salary are doing a much better job with the direction of the program than predecessors, I no longer fear 5-7 or dropping one to the likes of Appalachian.  Maybe you issue is the turnaround isn’t happening fast enough.  Patience buddy.

06/25/2018 - 1:27pm I 100 percent agree too bad…

I 100 percent agree too bad he didn’t have the Jay Riemersma (Zach Gentry?) revelation. I enjoyed watching him play the game of football.

06/25/2018 - 12:59pm My 2 cents for what it’s…

My 2 cents for what it’s worth is position projection.  Could be he was telling teams he wanted to be viewed as a QB.  Current rankings would be him evaluated at that position.  It’s pretty well accepted that Michael Barret for instance would have had a much higher ranking at RB or ATH. Another example would be somone like Tebow who’s last NFL team was a training camp with NE.  Heard had he been open to playing TE or H-back he would have made the team.

06/22/2018 - 2:41pm Great signing IMO.

Great signing IMO.

06/21/2018 - 4:06pm I will make my point clear…

I will make my point clear again because you sound confused.  If a kid can play then he can play, regardless of ratings.  Maybe watch some tape on them before dropping a steaming pile of indifference.

06/21/2018 - 1:52pm If a kid can play he can…

If a kid can play he can play... I get the ratings sites as a barometer but this staff has done a great job recruiting.  2016 and 2017 were tremendous classes.  I’d much prefer the staff identifying 3 star kids that are going to develop and take to coaching(Khaleke, Higdon, Paye) than signing a bunch of 4 and five stars that never live up to the hype such as hole those were paper classes.  This program is competitive at a national level.  Had a tough season this past year.    Shit happens.  I wonder what the purpose is of your 3 star posts?

06/06/2018 - 7:15pm I saw this a little while…

I saw this a little while ago and got a pit in my stomach as a father of a a little girl and as a law enforcement officer.  I get working with the community but the clear evidence of priveledge in this case just let these young people believe that this behavior is not a problem.

06/06/2018 - 7:10pm Honestly I think it’s not an…

Honestly I think it’s not an ability thing with him I think he’s fine technique wise, I think it was a combo of suspect line calls and the tackles, interior guys and backs not knowing what each others responsibilities where.  Happens when you have separate philosophies and young men aren’t sure who to listen too...good thing that problems a moot point.

06/06/2018 - 2:44pm Seriously though at about 5…

Seriously though at about 5’9” or so he looks about 195-205 but no bad weight looks like he can be a nice 3rd down back at nfl level.  Good to see the teams best players buying into the new program.  Heard Evans is up to 215 which would be tremendous.

02/04/2018 - 10:44am Going after the TCU transfer hard

Has me thinking M is way out of the NP-F race...also Reese took off the Michigan M from his twitter feed for what it’s worth. I’m thinking he wants Georgia really bad and is hoping one of the LBs they are waiting on doesn’t commit M is a 2nd option at this point. I think Barret, Bell, and Gray sign and the 2nd QB goes prep. All in all I actually like this class sleeper pick is Haskins reminds me of young le’veon Bell in some ways now if he can turn out that way I’ll be esctatic.

01/25/2018 - 7:54pm Ridiculous

This dude just staffed 2 weeks ago now going to Alabama Pep Hamilton is awe full.

01/25/2018 - 5:10pm Successful men

Can identify mistakes, correct, and move on...evidence suggests JHhas been successful at every level. If pep is retained I believe it will be in a much reduced role. The o line stuff that came out about Drev last week has me thinking Coach had that uncomfortable talk with an old friend. Time to focus what your good, which isn’t game planning apparently Enos should have a much bigger say title not withstanding.

01/25/2018 - 4:56pm I don’t get the Canada lust

Also F Saban and his window treatments

01/25/2018 - 4:54pm Coach wide receivers

Officially...unofficially I think JH is/was hoping pep got another gig Enos replacing what pep does is much more realistic than a Drevno swap.

01/25/2018 - 4:49pm Hutchinson

I’m honestly surprised he didn’t get a bigger boost in ratings after crushing the UA game. McGrone the real deal.

01/25/2018 - 4:46pm It is

About time

01/25/2018 - 4:25pm Good information

Lots of work I bet

01/25/2018 - 9:52am I think

The reason for all the Defensive backs being signed is that they were light on them last years cycle and the coaching staff thinks the top 2 guys are not going to exhaust their eligibility before leaving for the NFL

01/25/2018 - 9:46am Kinnel

Think kinnel gets drafted after after his M career is over late but drafted. He is very good on special teams which is what’s needed from a depth safety. The only time I really remember him looking bad is when opposing offenses lines up in a formation that required him to cover a highly skilled slot guy 1:1. Mettelus? Who knows.

01/24/2018 - 8:35am Jerrick Mckinnon

I see a lot of similarities. Same homestate, star ranking, bunch of production in tough high school division, stature, position and position switch. Some quick stop and start to get defenders out of position and rur with power through arm tackles created by out of position defenders. Young McKinnon turned out very well and I bet if he had opted to play RB before his recruiting the offers would have been there. I’ll take it.

01/09/2018 - 3:26pm Khaleke Hudson

Was a S/DB until August, Jabrill was the # 1 CB In his class...just saying

01/09/2018 - 11:07am Reese

Gone?

01/08/2018 - 11:42am Drev

Drevno runs power the zone stuff was Frey. As a former O line coach at this level you should pick one and coach the hell out of it so your top 5 know it inside and out.

01/04/2018 - 7:06pm Anyone else?

Reading the coaching stuff and think there’s dysfunction I mean why even bring in his guy and Hamilton for just a year. And then Jaybaugh as TE coach to RB coach now he’s going back to to theTE room, I know if I was a player I’d be thinking in the back of my head it’s a bit of a circus.

01/04/2018 - 6:30pm No way

JH won’t be messing with his d coordinator at all Brown has and earned everyone’s respect. If Partridge feels he needs to move along to somewhere like bama which position wise he will be making lateral move then so be it, but you don’t do silly things like promote a 3 year coach to co defensive coordinator to try and keep him around. Pay his dues and the time will come.

01/04/2018 - 4:51pm If I’m reading between the lines

Sounds as though Reem is transferring, not surprising given the odd nature of his first few years, also sounds like JBB isn’t getting a 5th year, I think he was better than ulizio but I kinda got the feeling he wasn’t dedicated to improving plus Hoke recruit.

12/31/2017 - 7:23pm Sorry to hear that

God bless

12/30/2017 - 7:33pm I don’t even think

That it’s a lack of mobility thing I think it’s more yo do with 18 year old kids throwing a bunch of weight on a bar cuz it looks cool forgoing proper form and doing those infamous “half squats” you see from the planet fitness crowd the result is under developed stabilizing muscles. For what it’s worth there’s a tone of methodology and science out there not everyone will agree. Been powerlifting 20 years just my 2 cents.

12/30/2017 - 6:21pm squats

I agree the good old fashioned rear loaded squat performed with great form getting low enough is a premier lift in relation to strength, explosion, and power for a football player. However as I’ve grown older I’ve also come to realize individual bodies don’t respond the same to a generalized routine and a more tailored approach for a specific athlete has its merits...think of it like this if an athlete is having trouble getting low and is prone to injury or decreased weight then the effectiveness is going to be curtailed anyway. The adjustment s could be to compensate and prime until the proper form for the basic squat can be reached. Either way it looks like the guy has produced results in my eyes it buys him a couple seasons of optimism before results can really be had.

12/30/2017 - 5:00pm Your facetious comment game

Is tight

12/30/2017 - 4:54pm Good luck

...so I guess this means Petite-Frere is coming and there’s room for Jarret Paterson now?

12/30/2017 - 4:32pm Could be

That coach wasn’t seeing significant gains in the weightroom; core lifts like squat, bench, and power clean are often taken as baseline for each individual athlete then map the growth over time. We as fans aren’t going to have access to the weight room sheets, he might’ve been expecting more.
