All subjective and "projection" not based on any empirical observation of development under Herbert/Warinner
The actual season cannot arrive quickly enough...

Even his head looks thicker.
Most of the visual difference is illusion.
Let's hope it translates on the field. B/c if these guys are convinced that they've got a physical edge, and then get out there and find it the same as before, the confidence effect could go the other way.

This hit me harder than I expected. Guess I didn't realize how hard I was rooting for him.

But they set up nicely to wear again in the Pinstripe Bowl!
|08/15/2018 - 11:58pm||Didn't we call like 14…||
Didn't we call like 14 passes in a row in a monsoon or something? I think we could build a good case for an insanity plea...
|08/14/2018 - 12:09pm||Listening to coach's presser…||
Listening to coach's presser from yesterday, he seemed much more enthusiastic in his praise of the other positions than the "ascending" and "coaching the heck out of it" that he offered about the offensive line.
Is this an "under promise and over deliver" situation? A misdirection to try to keep it under the radar? Or, do you think it's a factor of "it's felt good in camp before then didn't translate into game performance?"
Thanks for every tid-bit you throw us. When there's not much else to gather, it's like cool drinks in the desert.
|08/11/2018 - 7:12pm||Those first few holes are…||
Those first few holes are the difference between him and the lead going into Sunday. He could very well take it, and I'm rooting for him to do so!
Lots of near misses, and still in good shape.
If he puts a round together, he may go 61-62 tomorrow
|08/11/2018 - 7:05pm||That's really encouraging,…||
That's really encouraging, because of the effort it takes to do and the diligence to develop. Great to have someone of that talent level putting in that kind of work.
This year's gonna be special! Feels like 1997.

I thought this was a thread about someone opening up their loins. Too much sexual abuse in sports news recently...

I like the details, and I don't mind buying optimism in fall camp :). I hope I never get so jaded as to not be able to enjoy it.

Kent will shut you up in a big way. I'm looking forward to it.
|08/08/2018 - 1:30pm||Which is in a deeper…||
Which is in a deeper submarine? The team or this board?
There's been some little bits out there, but the plummeting usability of the board has led to plummeting use and therefore plummeting usefulness.
I used to be able just to come here and find discussions on everything. Now, I have to poke around multiple sites and twitters to get my daily fix...
|08/08/2018 - 1:21pm||Yes, and that huge effect is…||
Yes, and that huge effect is going to be that as we win one big game after another, we are going to put ourselves in prime position for the CFP.
Prognosticators do not determine the CFP. The committee does. And the committee has made it abundantly clear that resume is extremely important. So a better prognosticator might instead give ND almost zero chance.
Michigan is doing it right. And thankfully, we have a coach who doesn't shrink away from hard jobs. Out on that football field, the truth will be told. And, this year, I think it's going to be a truth that Michigan fans like.

Then how about a summary for the rest of us that couldn't listen?
|08/08/2018 - 11:01am||Duke's is the only real…||
Duke's is the only real mayonnaise.
That said, I use the Aldi brand (Burman's? Don't even remember the name...) just because I'm too cheap, and we use so much mayo in our home.
But cooking for someone else, definitely Duke's
|08/02/2018 - 11:43pm||Or possibly another side of…||
Or possibly another side of the truth. No one here has ever seen a situation with a wife that is totally nuts acting like this? There's a reason these things are tried in court instead of on message boards... We don't have anything close to the information necessary to draw a legitimate conclusion one way or the other. Let's just reserve judgement until we see what pans out. (Though I am rooting for tire fire)
|08/01/2018 - 5:46pm||Yeah, it's been weird…||
Yeah, it's been weird clicking into other places to get my UMich Football fix. But post-site-update, I guess having the board in the submarine is the new normal...
|08/01/2018 - 3:48pm||So now, we demand both to…||
So now, we demand both to know what he knew and whether he ever brought it up in private conversation with Meyer?
Start a congressional investigation already. "Coach Warinner: did you ever ask Coach Meyer wtf he was doing about the Smith domestic violence rumors?"
This is a stupid thread. It wasn't his job to maintain any kind of organizational control over or accountability of Smith.

Seriously. I went straight from this to watching episode 8 of All or Nothing, and the opening paragraphs of the monologue at the start were just a brutal juxtaposition to his tweet.

23 is barely an adult. The real issue that I have is that it seems like he was trying to join with Jemele Hill on some level.
|07/31/2018 - 12:35am||On the Amazon show, he…||
On the Amazon show, he seemed pretty insecure and frequently blamed others for his own mistakes. I wouldn't say that makes him "not a good person" by most standards, but there was certainly room for maturing as a person... He was what--a 22 year old kid or something?

Every Harbaugh quirk makes me like him more, and I think the article is hilarious. But encouraging Jemele Hill should be a capital offense.

|07/21/2018 - 12:21pm||2 under on the back 9, great…||
2 under on the back 9, great save after a poor tee shot on 18, even after the wind picked up (which is links golf kryptonite). He finished well. I encourage you to note the average back 9 scores among the last 5 groups today. Very few of them will do as well as 2 under.
|07/21/2018 - 12:15pm||At least 6 or 7? Highly…||
At least 6 or 7? Highly unlikely at this point.
The short game is always good. The driving was very good, and the putting was very good. Even the misses were good, except the first putt on 16. Good reads, great pace. Even with luck going against him, he's in with a 66 that very easily could have been a 62.
Whether your ignorance is sincere or willful, it's just plain inaccurate to say, "there's no difference here to how he's been playing."
If people who love golf and know what they saw today are "Woods lovers," then I suppose that just makes you a "Woods _____."
|07/21/2018 - 11:19am||Could have been 10 under by…||
Could have been 10 under by now (through 14) very, very easily. Either I am in a surprising minority, thinking that golf is twenty times better to watch with Tiger contending, or this board is in a coma...
|07/19/2018 - 11:12pm||After watching the Amazon…||
After watching the Amazon series, I am
(a) Amazed at how uninspiring of a leader BP is in the huddle
(b) Convinced that, even with that most glaring of weaknesses, he was O'Korn's superior by more, and earlier, than I had thought before. Poor O'Korn kept trying to talk himself and others into hoping that he was good the entire season long.
|07/19/2018 - 11:07pm||Even more frustrating to me…||
Even more frustrating to me was the fact that if the refs get the call right on the DPJ TD, Peters never gets that concussion, and we could be 11-1 heading into a B1G championship game.
Just imagine. That call. Barrett call on 4th down previous year.
I'm not much for always blaming the refs. But, it's amazing how different the current narrative could be with two objective calls corrected...

That and, if you read his book, he focuses on pliability because ridgity puts you at higher risk of injury.

We're still being considered. We have quintuple as many CBs for him today as we did a week ago, and we were still being considered then.

TBH, it's just a position mismatch deal. Several of his recruits would have made great wide receivers, but he keeps sticking them in at guard instead WTH.

Add to that the game intelligence and the leadership... he's not just a freak. He's putting the MAN in Michigan Man right now
|07/13/2018 - 6:40pm||Winning cures all. A couple…||
Winning cures all. A couple freak things go differently (or go exactly the same and get called properly), and this isn't even a conversation.
But they didn't.
Even if it weren't a matter of being that close, I see the program addressing all of the problems in a meaningful way.
Winning is the only true remedy, so we'll keep having this conversation until the remedy comes.
The place where I think we need to put our foot down is that we have absolutely every reason to expect that the remedy is coming, and perhaps in a very big way.
I expect to see it this year, and I'm unwilling to deny myself the joy of that optimism just because of the things that went wrong the last couple years.
I look forward to when we no longer have this conversation.

OSU die-hards don't generally gush about how great Harbaugh is. If we had a recruit from Ann Arbor who all of a sudden was gushing about Urban, what might you be thinking?

By waiting a year, they just sign Kahwhi as a FA. Keep everybody. Good contracts, young guys with another year to develop. They could win by year 2 of the contract. They will win in year 3.

MSU/OSU/SEC negative recruiting UMich:
Have you seen their academic rankings? Across the board, way too high in just about every program. If you go there, class is going to be WORK.
What you want is the easiest path possible to the NFL. The only place you'll have to work hard is in the weight room and on the field.

Top SEC #90; eight B1G schools in top 46. Kind of odd that Purdue doesn't even make the list--maybe not great for more than engineering? It's apparently pretty not great to be a Hoosier or a Hawkeye either. And apparently asking for Nebraska's rank is the logistical equivalent of calling for a moment of silence.
