sounds like the most grifting, self serving option so of course it will be the one the NCAA takes.

01/17/2019 - 12:17pm I am going to assume this is…

I am going to assume this is Saban clearing the decks to try something new. The rate of attrition is always bad there but this seems like something else. Maybe a lot of firm hand shakes after the title game loss?

01/09/2019 - 2:20pm what I meant was the offence…

what I meant was the offence they had Jalen run. Everyone makes a big deal out of how effective Tua was in the national title game last year where Jalen wasn't but the playbook changed when they put Tua in. I also think some of the changes to their offence this year are because Tua has a tendency to have happy feet and bolt early.

01/09/2019 - 2:13pm Ya I only like Nebraska and…

Ya I only like Nebraska and Oregon for coaching fits. USC would have been a solid one year option but handsome Cliff has gone pro. Thinking of it though Oklahoma would be an awesome fit with a coach who might be the offensive mind of his generation

01/09/2019 - 1:48pm There also isn't any deep…

There also isn't any deep receiving talent there or a line that won't risk his career behind

01/09/2019 - 1:47pm My wife is a Gump so I watch…

My wife is a Gump so I watch a decent amount of tide football and Jalen Hurts is fun to watch. His pocket presence is amazing(granted behind that line most people would be) and he was really judicious in most of his decisions in what one would charitably call an Iowa-esque play book. I have a bunch of places I think he’d be awesome but there is someone established there like Oregon or Nebraska.

I just look forward to him shrugging off the shackles of a Saban offence and balling out to get a higher draft slot than Tua

01/09/2019 - 1:13pm Well you could do a series…

Well you could do a series of think pieces on all the scumbags and ne'er do well’s Saban has hired as analysts over the years including the current crop. It’s hard to tell the gators from the swamp with college football

well that was the most out of left field laugh I've had on here in a while. Have an upvote

01/09/2019 - 8:40am I have had a thought growing…

I have had a thought growing in the back of my mind for some time about how there will come a day when I won’t be able to watch college football. The idea that these kids are risking their future health for my entertainment and not being anything like properly compensated for it. That the NCAA does nothing substantive to protect these kids or ensure that they are truly taken care of down the line for the injuries they suffer playing this sport is repugnant. The NCAA is a cartel that launders advertiser money and clutches their fucking pearls about the pristine lily white virtue of amateurism.

Having the best recruiting class for every year from now to eternity probably means they'll be competitive for as long as saban is interested.

Michigan fans and the scouse aren’t quite the same sort of entitled. Also less hub cap thieving and Heysel business in the Michigan fan base, and never ever red

12/14/2018 - 11:39am Every article on the…

Every article on the possibility of the super league always leaves out the glaring and obvious reason that it won’t happen, TV rights. The top flight in the top leagues have a solid share of the profits from their leagues. Apart from Spain and the premier league very few league champions even come close to the amount of money that runners up make in their respective leagues. The TV deal would no doubt be massive but likely not enough to make it make any sense for some of the smaller clubs to join like Ajax, Bayern, PSG etc.

If you’re looking for who Michigan is comparable to it’s Tottenham. They taught their rivals how to play the sport and boy were they something back in the day (first side to win the double). Now they are young and energetic with great players and many things hoped for but haven’t been able to live up to possibly unrealistic expectations.

12/12/2018 - 3:36pm they gave away two of their…

they gave away two of their best players for nothing this year. It seems like their talent evaluation is bad. Cooper saw a 10 fold improvement the second he left. I'm not saying its the right decision but it still might be the one they make

12/12/2018 - 1:57pm the raiders have at out the…

the raiders have at out the end of next season and all reports are that he's lost the locker room. Now would be the exact time to draft qb of the future. Also its the nfl contract values mean next to nothing

12/12/2018 - 11:24am To be fair Josh Allen was a…

To be fair Josh Allen was a sales job from the beginning. The Bills are terrible at evaluating talent from the top on down, but holy mother of God are they historically fucking terrible at QB evaluation.

12/12/2018 - 10:55am I think most would agree…

I think most would agree that 6 of the top 10 are in need of qb's but some will pass because of slot and perceived value (Cardinals & Raiders) and others will pass because they are coached by a sentient camo hat (Bills)

My fiancee is a gump. She always wanted a fall wedding, so when we got engaged last year the first thing we did was compare our schedules looking for soft weekends(Rutgers, Maryland and the like). Luckily both Michigan and Bama have the same bye week so we're getting married tomorrow.

I’m with Dave on this. Kudos for keeping a level head in all of this when I’m sure I would have gone completely Eeyore.  I need to remind myself that I am having a mope because some 20 somethings who aren’t being paid lost by a single touchdown on the road to a ranked opponent. Sucks, sure, hurts, yup, but given the other truly criminal things going down in the B1G lately I can take solace in it just being a loss.

It’s finally here the stretch of months where I find some way to unnecessarily raise my blood pressure for 3 hours every Saturday (I’m getting married on the bye week so there is no break this year).  Beat them, beat them badly, and leave no doubt. These Irish, why do they fight.

Go Blue!

08/26/2018 - 11:40pm I listened to this and it…

I listened to this and it genuinely bummed me out. That’s what it absolutely should have done as well. I have always wondered how long I could keep watching football knowing how toxic and outright harmful it is for a lot of people. The collateral damage of college football seems to be more and more obvious. To say nothing of the young men whose lives are changed and sometimes shortened by this sport for my enjoyment. A full ride scholarship is a great thing but not if you have a hard time stringing sentences together at 40. I know there will be a time when I stop watching and I think it will be sooner rather than later, but that doesn’t help either. How do we make this sport better and more equitable for the young men who play it and those who have their lives negatively effected by their proximity to a sport that pretends to be about the betterment of the “student athlete” but is mostly about lining the pockets of the previous generation while they whistle “Glory Days”

I've spent enough of my life in SD to love both stone and ballast point.  I love stone but its really variations on a theme. I will give Ballast Point this, they have tried branching out in their style and being owned by constellation has been really helpful in me getting their brews more widely than just california

Watch out for the ending of “The House at Pooh Corner”. It’s going to make you weep in front of your child. I say this as the jerk friend who buys this for every single friend who becomes a parent

05/25/2018 - 3:31pm The MLS really seems to have

The MLS really seems to have its’ graft on. The team valuations are excessive even by North American standards, and while the league is perceived as on the up attendance is dropping in a lot of locations. The home grown supporters culture is showing signs of being strangled out (go to a TFC or LA Galaxy game and compare it to 5 years ago). While in principle I never have a problem with Columbus being held to ransom another team in Austin isn’t going to do anything. The local TV contracts are a mess and watching a lot of teams games are really difficult (again see the Galaxy for this). I just don’t see how this constant expansion is helpful to the league when the talent pool is stretched so thinly.
