CBS Reporting Trey Burke To NBA [Disputed]
It's been a long time, Henri, the otter of ennui. I hate you.
Trey Burke is leaving Michigan after just one season.
The Wolverines point guard, according to sources, is expected to forgo his remaining three years of eligibility and declare for the NBA.
Article also says Michigan's bringing Spike Albrecht in Thursday. You have permission to panic.
UPDATE: Nick Baumgardner pinged Burke's dad and got this in a text:
Benji Burke tells AnnArbor.com that "Trey has not declared"
I'll be in the bomb shelter.
UPDATE II: Burke's father also has a twitter account:
Trey Burke has not declared for the NBA draft. He is still enrolled at the University of Michigan.
UPDATE III: I have an unconfirmed email from a guy who isn't established with me stating that Burke already has his evaluation, that it's 20-35, and is gone. He's got enough of an online presence that I can confirm he's an alum with a plausible route to that information, but again: unconfirmed, not established. Given the way the wind is blowing I don't doubt it.
Let's not attack the kid. We can talk about how doomed the team is next year, but let's not attack the kid.
On another note, are we sure that Derrick Walton is only a junior this year? He looks pretty senior-ish to me.
LOL at Balas for calling out Webb on his info.
Derp
what did balas say?
To say that this is a really bad decision?
Because it is.
No, that's a fair statement. Trey wasn't as mature as we thought, just composed during games. I'm afraid he's going to learn the hard way that the NBA is a really big step up in competition.
a decision.
Damn, damn, damn, damn
Still hoping he stays.
"He has not declared". Well, he is going to. Cannot blame the kid. He must have been dreaming about this his whole life. He must think that once he gets into a camp, he will show them how good he really is.
Well, there's always football.
Where players get properly exploited by the dominant professional league in the sport, right?
Wrong thread for this argument.
Fucking shit. This wedding is horseshit.
So curious what advice (if any yet) he got from the NBA evaluators. I can't see any situation where he goes in the first round.
if true, best of luck to him, but i just wish he would've listened to more reasonable people.
Someone quick, get Hollis to tweet him.
and look into their options, etc., their focus naturally shifts away from school and toward moving on. All of a sudden, staying will not improve their chances, and why worry about school and studies when I can concentrate on BBall and get paid?
I believe that it does not matter what the evaluators say. That shift in focus happens and then you skew the report to the way you have dreamt it to be.
In short, this "process" instead of helping kids get a rational view is in practice encouraging them to go no matter what the evaluation actually states. Call me Mr. Pessimist but that's what has been happening.
Edit: He's gone.
hmmmm?? Me cornfused. Darn you internets and your mixed messages.
Does someone want to talk me down from a ledge. Like now please?
Wow now that is some serious fire power, I guess I need to update my pic now.
Apparently you should talk to Mark Hollis.
Fuck Mark Hollis.
[ED:BISB - Troll caved. Comments hereunder now make no sense. Deal with it.]
You cannot be serious.
Maybe this blog isn't the place for you.
Fuck you, loser.
this pretty much solidifies that this place is not for you.
there was a troll, he flipped out and told someone to F off, mods caved him, etc. nothing to see here, move along.
Losers upvoting you. This place is a pathetic.
Perhaps you should go for a walk, or maybe read a book.
I hear there are many wonderful sights in Sucre, though perhaps La Paz is more your style.
it may be the most idiotic early entry decision ever. Choosing an at-best mid second round position in the draft (actually a good chance of being undrafted) over a chance to play with elite talent next year at Michigan and significantly improving your draft position and chances at an NBA career. And missing out on additional time in college as BMOC for a year of sitting on the bench (if he's lucky) and living in hotels. Incredibly stupid.
Manny Harris leaving was pretty stupid.
Think happy thoughts. Think happy thoughts. Think happy thoughts...
Dammit! This is why we're a football school, people!
Funny!
it may not matter what "reasonable" people say-----if burke wants out of college then whether he is first round, second round, or undrafted free agent is irrelevant
it is a little discouraging to see how many players have felt they were better off leaving michigan rather than staying [just off the top of my head, morris, smotrycz, brundige, christian, now maybe burke].
And Manny. I don't want to raise a kerfuffle, but I have an ongoing debate with my father over whether this reflects some real weakness in our program or if it's all just chance.
It's the former. Too many cases now to be a coincidence. We may have the wrong coach.
Ok... but we now have had two point guards leave after only 1 good season each. This is not normal for any program other than kentucky to have guys leave like this. Manny, morris, burke will all go down as having the same legacy. Buried on depth charts or over seas. They are not representing michigan well by getting drafted like this.
