no wonder those guys are so successful and that their players love them.  can't be enough people in the world like that.

my exact response as well.   pass-happy offense with the 8th pick of the draft throwing them the ball.

wanted to add this detail…

wanted to add this detail from ESPN, looking like blake is highly likely not only to make the team, but get signif touches: Post-Draft Analysis

Kyren Williams is coming off a breakout year but he has missed 12 games over the past two seasons -- and the Rams don't have great depth behind him. Corum gives them a talented one-two punch and insurance if Wiliams misses time. -- Muench

they just had the raiders on the clock with blake as the 'best fit' for what they needed.  ranked at 48, still hanging around in the 70's.  who will take him?

certainly that's true and i…

certainly that's true and i recognize that.  i was asking more of a macro-question about that. in general is it a 'steal' to get, say, the # 32 player in the #58 pick, or is it because the #32 guy has some issues.   anecdotally, anything can be a legit explanation, but the generalization and how strong the correlation is, that's my question.

secret look at the notes: …

secret look at the notes:  ohio only had one player taken in the first round, just like michigan.  then we had two more taken, waaaayyy more than ohio.  so there, ohio.

question:  trying not to…

question:  trying not to read too much into the 'overall rank' of the various players, but would it be a fair conclusion that if a player is taken way off of his rank, for instance a texas receiver ranked 28 was just taken at 52, is there some issue of either character or injury there?   maybe one at a time, not too much, but overall, would be curious if there is some correlation between the rankings and guys taken way high or way low in relation to the rankings.

ohio tears are so sweet.  like honey from heaven.  thank you for posting those.  may they go through decades of frustration for their incredible unaware, hypocritical, and psychotic fandom.  they have literally an entire state that is focused on one school and one team, and they can't get it done....

i think that guy is a value pick there.  athleticism is outstanding.  unless there are character issues (none that i know of), they done good getting him.

i agree that it's risky, thus my post above.  and as a lions fan, other than JJ, i hope their draft is an epic failure.

and for all or nearly all of the game v. illinois, the sun was out.  granted, it was windy and all, but it wasn't an ugly day.  we knew what we were headed into though, but proudly claiming my yooper roots, it was no big deal, holy wah!

Prefixed with a word that rhymes with ducking.

it was the drive home up…

it was the drive home up north after that game that made that game such a zinger for weather.  absolute blizzard, white-out conditions, cars littered on the side of the road the whole way home.  i was passing county plow trucks like slalom gates on a ski hill, but we made it home.

i said last season that…

i said last season that campbell (MCDC) was the NFL version of harbaugh - took character over flash, toughness over stats, and it paid off big time.  i loved his line in the team room, 'these seats are not for everybody'.

was at that NFC champ game in SF.  despite the loss, glad that i went.  like virtually all of us lions fans (excepting don, who built the pyramids and watched the lions in the coliseum), it was by far the most memorable lions season of my life.

when i played out west i was…

when i played out west i was one of two guys from michigan on the team, the other was our #1 RB who had played at iowa.  when it would rain in socal and temps would be in the 40's or 50's, our teammates would complain about the weather.  we would shame them mercilessly, using words you cannot say in polite company.
