3 days 13 hours ago	This wasn't a bad speech, but	This wasn't a bad speech, but a surprising a choice.  I attended a graduation at Michigan Tech many years ago and the speaker was Rosa Parks.  The vast majority of the graduates were engineers and the composition of the audience was beyond vanilla white.  Seemed like a nice lady and she gave a decent speech, but I never would have guessed the speaker beforehand to say the least.  Not much civil rights activity occurred in Houghton, MI.
4 days 25 min ago	I still have a hard time	I still have a hard time viewing a 5'10 corner who weighs 176 lb (per the spring roster) a half year before his freshman season starts as small.  The NFL has a bunch of CBs that are around 5'10 and under 190 lb.  While important, I just think CB height can sometimes be over-valued.

4 days 23 hours ago	Great to hear the Wilton has	Great to hear the Wilton has a strong arm, since that was one concern some people had when he committed.  While he needs to improve his footwork and over mechanics, he's got a few years to accomplish it.  I will be curious to see how quickly he progresses with all the training he is getting.

5 days 16 hours ago	Bo would occasionally call a	Bo would occasionally call a reverse where the QB would pitch the ball towards the running back, but the WR would catch it going the other direction.  Jim Smith was the WR and it would typically result in a solid gain.  Smith had good size and was quite an athlete.  He was preceded by another good receiver, named Gil Chapman.  Chapman wasn't as big, but was another really good athlete.  I think they used to refer to the position they often played as a "wing back."

1 week 1 day ago	I think someone showed that	I think someone showed that it's not significantly worse for injuries to play kick-returner, but I still hate seeing a key player return kick-offs.  There are some violent hit with two guys running full speed at each other.  Would prefer to see a back-up get the job.

1 week 3 days ago	In their write-up of the	In their write-up of the recent Chicago NFTC, Scout basically said that Watson looked short and slow.  Shortly after that camp, Michigan started to cool on Watson. I loved the way he hit, but he just didn't look like a top linebacker on his film.
1 week 4 days ago	I just watched his junior	I just watched his junior film and I think you hit the nail on the head, it doesn't have a "wow factor."  He looks good, which is why he's a 4* player, and he get's the job done.   However, he doesn't tackle with a lot of force and make big hits.  On many plays he wrestles the ball carrier down.  He also appears to be a pretty smooth athlete and pretty efficient in his steps, so it tends to make him look less dynamic. All that said, I'm really happy with his commitment.  With his size and speed, along with some Mallory/Mattison coaching, I expect him to be a good player down the road.  I think a bunch of coaching staffs missed the boat by not offering him a scholarship....although it wouldn't have mattered after the UM offer.

1 week 5 days ago	Here's his combine	Here's his combine numbers: 6'4, 236 lb, 4.78 40 time, 31.2 vertical, 4.22 pro-shuttle, 8-9.6 broad jump, 7.37 L-cone, 36.9 power ball.  There's conflicting info on whether the 40 time is electronic or hand timed.  Either way, the shuttle and L-cone times are blazing for his size and 40 time, and better than almost the entire field at the combine.
