Ravens Appreciation thread
Guys, how do I go to sleep?
thanks to John Harbaugh for bestowing upon us Mike Macdonald and Jesse Minter. Minter has been a goddamn wizard this year. NFL level defense. He shoved Mike penix in a locker today.
We couldn’t have been able to do it without brother John.
after the lions I will be cheering my heart out for the Ravens
Guys, we did it.

The Harbaughs own football.

I really would love to see the Lions win it all. But if that doesn't happen, a "Harbaugh Grand Slam" would be pretty cool.

Same. I'll be rooting for the Lions, but if they go out I'll be a Ravens fan.

I'm a Michigan fan first and foremost. I typically only care about the NFL in relation to any Michigan connections a team has.
So now that Brady is out of the NFL picture, I will be a big Ravens fan.

I think wherever coach goes they will be a mini-michigan to me. If Jim is coaching against the Lions it wont be a tough decision for me.

You know, we might clown on Brian Kelly, but football really is all about Faaahmilllly.

Family is a hell of a thing.

It's a well that very few can draw from. Coaches pick each other's brains a lot but it was definitely a help to be able to pick the brain and talent from John.
You still gotta do it so I'm not saying it's all credit to anyone but Jim, staff and these players but having that well to draw from turned this program around.

The beauty of this is that there's probably not another coaching family that can replicate this. Add in Jack Harbaugh spending time every week with Ravens and Michigan film, and it puts this whole thing over the top. There was an interview with Jim where he said many times he and his coaches would be working on something and he'd go to his dad for advice. Many times his dad had already identified the issue from his own fil sessions and had a solution. Jim said it saved them HOURS of work each time.

My SO is a die-hard Ravens fan, so we have NFC (Lions) and AFC covered. Things could get tense here if we get a Lions-Ravens Super Bowl. But that would be a first-world fan problem, so we're not sweating it.
In any case, the Harbaugh clan really did pull together on this, and the coaching we've got from MacDonald and Minter has been superb. The defense was playing chess and the rest of college football was in the pre-checkers era.

"Everything's coming up Harbaugh."

No word of lie, I used to have this mental fantasy scenario: What if Michigan had an actual NFL defense? Would it completely shut down even the best college offense it came up against, to the point where it would not even matter what the Michigan offense did?
The NFL team I choose for my thought experiment was the Baltimore Ravens because I live in Maryland and they've always had a strong defense.
So, give me the Baltimore Ravens defense and a completely non-descript Michigan offense and let's see what would happen against any college team, even the likes of 2019 LSU.
Holy cow, I can't believe how close that fantasy scenario came into being. Michigan has the Ravens defense . . . the Ravens defensive scheme, the Ravens defensive coaching, and even many (future) NFL players.
So now I know how that thought experiment turned out in real life . . . a National Championship!

I think our defense would have done better than anyone else against 2019 LSU, but that team was absolutely loaded. Jefferson and Chase can burn even good NFL defenses.
