that's unfortunate, but at least the interest is there on both sides

Anything that causes college basketball to more closely resemble the NBA game is a bad thing, [btw, I like the NBA, but I like the differences between college and the pros]. But I think that the shorter the shot clock, the less time there is for the current variety in college ofenses.

|24 weeks 1 day ago||on oct 29 i got an automated polling phone call ref: brandon||
on october 29, i got an automated polling call on my home phone in michigan
the beginning was pretty standard: if you support rick snyder [r] for governor, press one, if you support [d] mark schauer, press two, etc, then to the us senate race, and so on
then the call turned to the election of msu trustees and u-m regents [i do not recall getting "robo-polled" about those races before, but maybe i have just forgotten]
then the call asked if i strongly approved of dave brandon [press one] approved of db [press two], disapproved db [press three] strongly disapproved [press four]------the strongest negative option i heard was "four"
then the call asked if i thought brady hoke should be fired----yes [press one] no [press two]
i hit 4 for brandon and 1 for hoke
anyway, i was surprised to [apparently] learn that the brandon/hoke situation was important enough to a political party [i am assuming that a political group must have paid for the poll] to poll voters about
could it be that MY strong disapproval of a.d. dave brandon was the final blow from which he could not recover??
this is what i'm going to tell people, anyway
|36 weeks 1 day ago||colors||
i do not get the criticism brandon/the athletic department has taken is relation to the colors worn by michigan.
brandon is a michigan man, he played for michigan and in service to the michigan "brand' he bleeds highlighter-yellow-and-blue

tom hemingway was absolutely the best michigan play-by-play guy [he also had a short run doing piston games on [wjr?].
and tom slade [r. i. p.] was an excellent color guy----i remember an outburst one day where he said something like 'i sure wish we had run plays like this when i was playing'.

.......that the player is fat, lazy, takes plays off, is not a true "Michigan Man", etc., etc.,?/s
actually, good luck to him, i'm disappointed, but hard to say that alabama is not a good choice, too

|1 year 29 weeks ago||thomas wilcher once said about campbell||
i don't remember when i heard this, but, cass tech hs football coach thomas wilcher was being interviewed on wtka by sam webb and wilcher said that campbell went to defense at michigan because the team needed him there, and that wilcher thought campbell was better suited to the offensive line.
i don't even remember whether rodriguez or hoke was the michigan hc at the time

if center is an issue [i agree it is] is there any chance of a patrick kugler sighting??
or is he too inexperienced/not yet recovered from injury?
|1 year 29 weeks ago||my experience with weintraub||
In August, when the issue of closing main st on football game days was discussed, Mr. Weintraub criticized people who called themselves "citizens" who were opposed to the policy. Mr. Weintraub's point was that a person may be a "resident" of a city but not a "citizen"----which to me implied that the people against the policy must be wrong because they weren't even smart enough to know they were "residents', not "citizens".
I e-mailed the station pointing this out, however, since I share the frustration discussed by other posters in this thread, I [in a not very charitable way] added:
Do I need to add that by far the best portions of the program are when you are not speaking? [Even the commercials are better.] While it must be extremely difficult to be on the radio, or in the public eye, day after day, I still must point out that I find you neither entertaining, nor informative.
Holy cow! Weintraub went off like a rocket. This little gem earned a ten [fifteen?] minute spot on that morning's show where the above was called the e-mail of the month [year?].
Anyway, I suggest that he has watched a lot of sports, but really has not learned as much as one would hope from what he has seen.

would you ever sell a used car to a friend or a relative?
or would you worry about the possibility that they might become angry if somehow something broke?
|1 year 45 weeks ago||honestly||
there is rarely such a thing as a "good used vehicle"
but whenever you find a car with the right features, mileage, and price------set aside another grand or two------for extra repairs
once you have done that----you can end up with a pretty decent car for a lot less money than a new one

|2 years 18 weeks ago||hardaway shooting||
I share the writer's concern as to hardaway's falling shooting percentage-----however, it looked to me that binghamton packed its defense in so tight to the rim that good driving opportunities were rare for hardaway, and almost everyone else.
|2 years 19 weeks ago||knowledge question||
Thanks for the informative post. BUT did you have to get a special permit to write "Here is the knowledge"? Or should rookie posters like myself already know that there is a difference between "the knowledge" and "THE KNOWLEDGE"?

above is a photo i tried to copy from the 1927 dedication game @ michigan stadium----michigan v osu
this should be the link
|2 years 21 weeks ago||in the old days.....||
....teams wore their "colors" whether home or away. However, as time passed, both fans and coaches complained that was hard to distinguish between, for example, scarlet-jerseyed Ohio and cardinal-jerseyed Wisconsin. So, white jerseys for a visiting team was considered [and actually was] a reform, at the time.
I really think that if you go back far enough you could find a photo of a Michigan-OSU game where the teams are wearing "color" jerseys. So I think that this idea would actually be a return to something done in the past.

|2 years 29 weeks ago||i agree with this||
and this is what drove me so crazy on Saturday. The offense ND ran said to me:
1---ND does not trust either of the qbs
2---So ND will run a VERY conservative offense
3---But it does not matter because Michigan will not score enough to catch ND
It reminded me of what Perles did in the M-MSU game where Demetrious Brown threw all the interceptions
|2 years 33 weeks ago||packaged plays||
The idea of packaged plays to counter defensive schemes like the double-a gap blitzes seems really good but:
Does not the quarterback have to make a lot of reads super fast? It seemed last year that michigan did not trust the qb very often to make the read on relatively simple read option-type running plays.
Tthe packaged play reads seem a lot harder. Or did I misundestand the article?
|2 years 35 weeks ago||throwbacks||
I am afraid that the current adminstration thinks that an authentic throwback would irreparably harm the Michigan "brand". The modern uniform example to be followed is that of Oregon or Michigan State, not the New York Yankees, or even Alabama.
|2 years 35 weeks ago||one small thing||
One of the retired jerseys belonged to wr #85 Chuck Hughes who passed away on the field during a game [heart attack, I think]. Because the Lions were behind and there was not much time to play, the radio announcer originally thought Hughes was pretending to be hurt, so that the officials would call a time-out. When the announcer was quickly informed how bad it really was, the radio went silent for a bit before the announcer recovered.
