I approve

Like what I’m reading on how he developed the young WR talent at Bama. Hope he has a long leash to open up the O. Start slinging that ball around! Go Blue!
January 10th, 2019 at 4:12 PM ^
not to mention the WR at PSU. Hell of a recruiter too.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:27 PM ^
was rated number 23 recruiter last year
January 10th, 2019 at 4:33 PM ^
I would expect/hope he had a pretty frank discussion about what the offense will look like under him. Assuming they came to an agreement on all that stuff.
Then again, the way coaching hires have been going lately, it might just be about the money. 'Who cares if I get to run what I want. PAYCHECK'
My money is on there was a good discussion and agreement about the offense going forward.
Go Blue!

Agree!
I'm encouraged by this hire!

Yes looks like a good hire young up and coming coach who has done some very good work. JH is looking to make a new infusion to the offense. Give him credit for going out and bringing in a new OC
January 10th, 2019 at 4:19 PM ^
I’d certainly be optimistic for sure. Kinda torn that he hasn’t called plays, it was Enos and Locksley calling them for Alabama. Since he spurned Maryland and his fellow coach it would be some combination of money and autonomy in playcalling, but will JH hand over the reigns to someone who has never done it before, I doubt it. Either way this is a great hire and I’m sure the WR room is going nuts. Great timing too, that’s a heck of a way to break the deafening silence of the last few days.

Because the last OC week took from Bama worked out well...

Somehow crg stands for craps in your cornflakes

Half the people on this board were bitching about Alabama’s offense after the NC blowout. Now today this is the greatest move ever. Lol.
January 10th, 2019 at 9:52 PM ^
Alabama’s offense did fine, their playcalling, particularly in the red zone, was less than stellar. Seeing as he wasn’t calling plays I don’t think those shortcomings fall on coach Gattis.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:24 PM ^
Wow! All the talk had been about him going to Maryland with Locksley.

Huge addition! Our currrent and future WRS are going to love this!
January 10th, 2019 at 3:52 PM ^
My BPONE tells me that the talk you heard may still happen. You only have to look at our ten minutes of having a new OC (Enos) last year.
F you BPONE.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:11 PM ^
I mean Maryland hired him 3 hours before we did, so if anything he would be Maryland’s version of Enos.

And in case anyone is worried “cause MD”, that was one of the better 2019 examples I’ve seen of understanding your skills and using it to attack an opponents weakness. They had the speed to attack the peremiter and used it to their fullest advantage. They withstood the in game adjustments and just kept bringing it. It wasn’t because they were only an amazing pereniter team, they truly saw and exploited the weakness. That’s a subtle but meaningful difference

What's an offensive coordinator?
January 10th, 2019 at 3:41 PM ^
A coordinator of offense, silly goose.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:57 PM ^
Whatever an offensive coordinator is- I hope its not like the last one we got from Alabama (Nussmeier)
January 10th, 2019 at 4:06 PM ^
I think the last one we got from Alabama (indirectly) was McIlwain.
That's the thing about hiring Bama staff...they always look great with Bama, but how much of that is simply the raw talent advantage they start with?
Looks like a cool pickup and all, but I also like the Don Brown method of hiring guys who had success despite a talent deficit relative to their opponents.

An Offensive Coordinator is someone that coordinates a group of two or more people in the telling of inappropriate jokes.

Good thing that guy sent the e-mail to Harbaugh about Alabama's change in offensive philosophy.

Prepare to be revolutionized.

did you see gattis' picture? i think if you don't revolutionize to his liking, he eats you.

The man in the photo of Feldman’s tweet is not Gattis.

I knew someone would have beaten me to it. Pretty funny coincidence.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:35 PM ^
I said this a few days ago; still think it's odd.
During the championship game, the announcers mentioned the heavy coaching turnover at Bama and the stability at Clemson.
It may be nothing more than the difference in coaching styles, but I found it odd. I would think that they would leave after 3 years and take something better, but they made is sound like a yearly revolving door.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:40 PM ^
I think it's simply that every year, people try to poach Bama's assistants, so they inevitably have turnover. This is probably going to happen more to Clemson in the future.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:11 PM ^
Agreed. It's incredible the kind of staff stability Clemson has had in spite of its success. His coordinators must LOVE working for him.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:17 PM ^
I could easily see them enjoying it more than Saban’s assistants enjoy their jobs.
January 10th, 2019 at 3:47 PM ^
Saban has lost 13 assistants I believe in last 4 years.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:25 PM ^
It's like his soul has been ripped into 13 pieces...
Merlin's Beard!
January 10th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
Apparently Saban is difficult to work for and grates his assistants the wrong way. He is going back to the NFL next year because he can't get along with anyone at the college level and his personality fits the NFL better.
At least that's what I heard. Or maybe it was a differenc coach Paul Finebaum was talking about.
January 10th, 2019 at 7:06 PM ^
Saban is abrasive. I read an article the other day, can't remember where for the link. But it was about the difference in working for Dabo and working for Saban. Dabo values family time for his staff, Saban only values perfection. Continuity from a great working environment is essentially the gist of the article. Dabo's staff loves working for him. The main guy the article focused on was Venebles, who has had interest from numerous teams yet has stayed because he loves it there. They also mentioned Scott. It seemed like all the staff members were open to leaving for career advancement but gave the "it has to be the right opportunity" line.
January 10th, 2019 at 4:40 PM ^
Double post. Sorry
January 10th, 2019 at 4:46 PM ^
this is no surprise. Saban is a prick (see the story about when he went to LSU from MSU); Dabo seems to be a good guy.
January 10th, 2019 at 5:16 PM ^
Clemson also has a massive play pen for players.
January 10th, 2019 at 5:53 PM ^
I've been to Clemson several times and know Dabo personally after coaching high school ball in SC for 20 years. He is a great guy. The football facilities are awesome including a massive slide from the game room and bowling alley into the weight room. They have fun and they want to be there. I saw Coach Dantonio at Clemson last year during Spring practice. That's why the great players want to play for Dabo and high school football in SC is phenomenal. How about Georgia letting Trevor Lawrence go to Clemson? Idiot move.
January 10th, 2019 at 6:01 PM ^
Did Dantonio ride the slide?
