12/18/2018 - 1:13am I realize you're not saying…

I realize you're not saying this but I wanna put this near the top. I'm NOT saying *I* think there was anything racist happening. In fact, my post is to point I don't think that's the issue (nor OSU etc) but that it's about injuries instead. Maybe others are blaming me without having seen the other comments but it's come up multiple times. I'm not spreading anything. It's already been spread, and I wrote my post in part to quash it. And if people are worried about players or recruits hearing about it, don't people think they get more insight into the program by being a part of it or close to those who are? We aren't important or influential here.

I was thinking specifically of one poster's comments here and maybe I should have mentioned since many others didn't see what was said. But he said he's a close friend of a family member of Hudson and they were talking about it. He didn't actually think it was the issue and was trying to be clear he was just reporting what he heard from someone who would know. He could be lying sure, but it didn't sound like a troll job. And again, he wasn't the only one who brought it up.

12/18/2018 - 1:02am Since none of those players…

Since none of those players were ever ineligible I don't think that's what the problem was. I never heard of anyone except Walker having academic issues.

12/18/2018 - 12:58am This is dumb as hell. I didn…

I didn't invent it. Multiple people mentioned it in the comments on the various posts here. And my post was to show that I DON'T think it's racism but rather something about the depth chart. But yes, only now, after someone so influential as a random message board reader as myself mentioned it will it go viral. I'm sure I'll be a big subject of debate on whatever Skip Bayless' current show is.

I don't think it was a miracle having a good D with those players along with Simpsons and Matthews and Teske playing significant minutes. Robinson isn't athletic but he's big for his position. Not surprisingly, he was fine when staying near the post. What makes you think it was so hard to make Rahk a good defender? Wagner still wasn't great at defense, but he's also a skilled player. Those guys weren't scrubs.

Yes, Beilein really underachieved in 2013 and the defense is to blame. Nevermind they had one of the best offenses ever in the Kenpom era and almost won a freaking national championship. Really an embarrassing season. The D has gotten better but the offense has gotten worse. Would this team beat the Burke et al team in a 7 game series? That's highly debatable. Again, Beilein was just as good then. He's just doing it differently now.

They can't ever beat the best program in their conference!

Seriously? You're gonna blame the Durkin shit at Maryland on Harbaugh after he's been gone for like 3 years?

I don't live in the area (or even the hemisphere), but I was there for the Wisconsin game last year. Loved it.

12/17/2018 - 7:28pm The highly ranked recruits…

The highly ranked recruits are the mostly freshmen still sitting on the bench, so no. Teske and Simpson weren't great recruits. Nor was Rahk, Robinson, Wagner.

People here just overreact to everything. I guess that's fandom but it makes this place unbearable sometimes. When Harbaugh got here everyone was talking about how Urban would be running scared and I thought "Uh well he's probably the 2nd most successful cfb coach in the last 20 years or so, so probably not." People hated Pep even though they really don't know how much succes or blame to attribute to him (although he does seem ridiculously overpaid considering it's Harbaugh's offense), and then they loved him because he seemed calm in the Amazon documentary, and now people hate him again. Now everyone is freaking out about the offense next year, but I've been saying it'll be much improved simply due to returning starters with more experience. Barring some big unexpected losses (please don't go Tarik), I'd bet money they'll be an S&P+ top 10 offense next year.

Same for Beilein. He's a great coach and he always was, but then there were a couple years where Michigan was just decent due to some injury problems and I had to stop going to the board here. Yes, Beilein was smart to hire a DC, but part of that is also the roster make-up. With guys like Simpson and Matthews leading the team, this needs to be a D first team.

12/17/2018 - 5:48pm Exactly. Players are now…

Exactly. Players are now transferring more often and surprisingly early. Players are sitting out bowl games often. This doesn't seem like a particular Michigan issue. It definitely doesn't seem like Solomon is a playing time issue but it happens. It wasn't just Harbaugh talking about the team being close. You heard it a lot on the Inside Michigan Football shows from players. Sucks for sure though.

Craig Ross made a good point on WTKA. Hill committed after the ND loss. It's not like Michigan was looking like a powerhouse when he chose.

You said we were winning an NC this year? Well then you're a moron.

You beat Ohio State by becoming a better team. People keep worrying about whether the team thinks enough about beating them but obviously Hoke put a lot of emphasis on it and he was 1-3 with the only win being at home against a mediocre OSU team and Michigan barely hung on for that one.

There's a big problem with relegation in college football, which is you can't relegate teams without them signing on to it and there's no way a school will give up tens of millions of dollars for a demotion. No one is in charge of college football. That made it quirky but now I feel it's a problem.

12/11/2018 - 9:56am I was never a big drinker…

I was never a big drinker but had a solid run when I was 18. I thought at the time "Oh I guess I just don't get hangovers". Now I'm in the same boat. I find drinking water is even more important than it used to be if I'm drinking alcohol.

Dabs are gross. I don't know why anyone would smoke that stuff. The only positive of it would be ease of transport and being compact. I didn't feel any higher. Just my head was cloudier and it was harsh on my lungs.

It being a grayshirt is a pretty important point you omitted. I think it's pretty well accepted that sons of players and coaches tend to be knowledgeable about the game even if they're not terrible talented, which is a nice thing to have and better than nepotism. Is it even nepotism? Doesn't seem so.

12/10/2018 - 6:22pm I'm much more interested in…

I'm much more interested in getting Harrison than Haskins leaving. It's not like Martell will be crap. We don't need all the 5 stars but it certainly helps having a few game changers. Would have been nice if one of those had been a safety.

12/10/2018 - 5:29pm Always crazy to see rent…

Always crazy to see rent prices in big cities in America. I live in Seoul and I pay a little less than 550 a month for a studio apartment. About 400 square feet I think. I don't know the exact size. Anyway its not big but it's also just fine for me. I'm in a very central area right near the train station, 2 subway lines, and a lot of buses. It's not a rich area but a nice thing here is crime isn't an issue when choosing a neighborhood.

I did actually have to put a deposit of 5000 dollars down but I get that back whenever I go. It's the system in Korea and Japan. In fact 5000 is low.

Utilities are cheap too. Paid 3 bucks for gas last month. Internet is 10 bucks a month with the fastest download speeds in the world. Health care as well, which is one of my biggest concerns about moving back to America. I got my MRI here for 250.

12/09/2018 - 12:46am I'll keep repeating it but…

I'll keep repeating it but we're not at Harbaugh's ceiling and it's dumb to think so. Michigan's offense vastly improved over last year with an upgrade at QB and with Warriner and not losing too many players. Next year we'll likely have the same QB but now better able to run a passing game like Harbaugh wants, continuity with Warriner, and almost everyone else back on offense. I expect the offense to take another big leap next year. Barring tons of injuries, if Michigan doesn't have a top 10 S&P+ offense I'd be really surprised.

12/09/2018 - 12:34am Well losing Hill is…

Well losing Hill is obviously a huge disappointment but we still might get Harrison and Karlaftis seemed far more dependent on Brohm leaving. It's not like Karlaftis is going to a program with a better chance of a conference or national championship.

12/08/2018 - 6:41pm And your "evidence" says…

And your "evidence" says this is the end of Michigan's progress on offense? This was probably Harbaugh's best offense at Michigan, and it returns nearly everyone.

12/08/2018 - 10:43am Ugh. This isn't Harbaugh's…

Ugh. This isn't Harbaugh's preferred offense. He's still working with an inexperienced QB and WRs. So tired of people acting like this is as good as a Harbaugh offense gets. The guy had a top 6 S&P+ offense his last 2 years at Stanford. Yes he had Luck but Shea is probably just as talented and it's not like they were recruiting like Alabama there.

12/07/2018 - 11:48am Totally agreed. Brian…

Totally agreed. Brian already wrote a long piece on him when all this went down before the season. Nothing about that has changed. And no one can say how things will go with Day, so I'm not sure what he's supposed to say about that either. Like we really need to hear more about Urban.

I think if you played a 7 game series in 2016 and 2018, Michigan wins those. OSU was obviously better in 15 and 17. The narratives spun out of only 4 games is insane.

12/05/2018 - 9:38am I don't like Urban but the…

I don't like Urban but the idea that he retired because he was afraid of losing the next 6 straight is absurd. He's one of the best on field coaches the game has seen. Sorry but that's the truth. Harbaugh can reach that too though in my opinion. I wanted him to beat Meyer once but if he's getting into the playoffs and winning a couple no one's going to give a damn he didn't beat Meyer while still in rebuilding mode.

12/04/2018 - 1:59am A few in the media like…

A few in the media like Feldman and Hinton keep talking about expanding to 8 but don't mention logistics. They'd have to play home games. Think of how unfair it'd be having Big Ten teams traveling to literally the opposite sides of the country (LA, New Orleans, Miami) for up to 3 games.

In regards to the OP, I'm tired of the matchups too, but I don't think it's the playoffs fault. It's because Clemson (helped by a weak ACC) and Alabama have been so dominant. Texas is down, USC is down, Michigan is still climbing its way back. Having said that, the playoffs do make it nearly impossible for a program as good as Alabama NOT to get in. Alabama would not have been in a BCS-style championship game last year. It'll be a lot more fun when Michigan crashes the party.

You were the guy talking about starting true freshmen just a couple posts above.

I don't think that's nearly as big a deal as different OC.

It's like people don't know the OC is Harbaugh.

Speaking of that. I knew there were a couple mgoblog articles I had missed recently. Looked back through and one was the story on Kinnel. Started reading it and just felt awful. Seemed it was really well done, but I couldn't continue.

No way man. I really think Harbaugh needs to incorporate some zone read and shotgun/pistol next year...

Nothing has changed in Michigan football in the past decade, huh? I can't believe this is getting upvotes.

But didn't they already have Oklahoma in last week? There's no way they could switch places after this weekend.

12/02/2018 - 12:56am Michigan fans think every…

Michigan fans think every year will be a national championship run. That's not a Shea thing. Shea was a true freshman in regards to playing in any kind of passing offense like Harbaugh likes to run. But you're right, nothing is going to change. It's not like this offense isn't worlds better than last year. And nearly every returning starter? Experience clearly doesn't matter.

12/02/2018 - 12:52am Obviously that's not…

Obviously that's not happening, but they actually might and at least on the field I feel like that'd be awesome. Not sure you can really argue Kiffin isn't a good OC.

12/02/2018 - 12:44am That's probably why we don't…

That's probably why we don't say "no hate lost"...

Natural language isn't logical. If I say "I didn't eat ALL of the cookies." Logically, it just means there's some cookie(s) I didn't eat. It would be entirely possible I didn't eat any. But when we say that we're implying we ate some of the cookies.

Considering there are 118 teams or so in Division I, that'd be a hell of a shot in the dark to even make a guess at.
