Bummer

You hate to see it...
April 18th, 2024 at 11:53 AM ^
But even more than that...
That's a shame
56-0 this year
April 18th, 2024 at 11:43 AM ^
grief counseling is available
on a more serious note, does that say anything about sparty's new coaching staff, team outlook next year, or is it simply more of an 'i want some serious NIL $' move on the player's part?
April 18th, 2024 at 11:47 AM ^
Per message boards, it seems to be yet another case of SEC bag-dropping.
April 18th, 2024 at 11:51 AM ^
Given that we have two NFL caliber D linemen and a less than robust (allegedly) NIL program AND a new coaching staff I will hold off on throwing any rocks at the portal's glass house until May 1st.
Agree 100%
While that's probably true, it's also likely just an assumption.
April 18th, 2024 at 11:46 AM ^
He would be a great depth piece for Michigan's DL, but this seems to be some SEC tampering per the interwebz.
April 18th, 2024 at 12:08 PM ^
I'm not normally one to run to the boards and type "no thanks" in a quickly dismissive manner, but really ... anyone on that 22 "Tunnel" team, I'm just going to be a pass. Maybe he wasn't an active participant, I don't know. I'm also not one for painting with big brushes, but in this particular situation, it just feels like a non-starter.
No thanks. DL "depth" can be found in many places.
April 18th, 2024 at 12:12 PM ^
Agree 100%. Don't want any part of that team.
It's also his 4th time in the portal. This does not seem like a good fit.
April 18th, 2024 at 12:25 PM ^
I have been perplexed in hearing we need a DL from the portal. The backups, inside we have Benny, Pierce, and perhaps Etta. Outside we have Guy, Etta, Brandt. And others. Seems like we are solid here, unless the concern is Benny not coming back full strength.
EDIT: Pierce is also hurt, and didn't realize it... maybe thats why the DL transfer talk.
April 18th, 2024 at 12:42 PM ^
Per the roundtable, Etta has been playing some OL also. So I believe UM will be looking for depth at OT and DT
April 18th, 2024 at 12:59 PM ^
Did they say he was playing OL or that he is playing both Edge and DT?
I've listen and confirmed it is DE and DT.
April 18th, 2024 at 12:56 PM ^
Our 9 man rotations replaces Kris Jenkins, Cam Goode, Brandon McGregor, and Jaylen Harrell with Guy, Pierce, Etta , and Brandt. While I would take that rotation over many alternatives I think it is easy to see how we could upgrade.
April 18th, 2024 at 12:33 PM ^
anyone who chose to play for sparty 3 different times can't be trusted.
Michigan has offered Kent State DT CJ West.
Not sure if I seen it on here.
April 18th, 2024 at 11:50 AM ^
I saw some Spartans on Reddit saying this is his fourth trip to the portal, but they believe he's actually gone this time. On a related note, they also said that their DL has been the bright spot on the team this spring, so this has got to hurt.
April 18th, 2024 at 12:27 PM ^
Yep—I think the last time he entered was the Monday after the 49-0 pantsing Michigan administered.
It would be foolish for an all B1G caliber player to NOT explore their value in the marketplace.
April 18th, 2024 at 11:59 AM ^
Isn't this like his fourth trip to the portal and previous 3 times he's returned to MSU? I'm assuming an NIL ploy but will be interesting with the new staff if they take a harder stance on him returning. Although they may not have a choice. Brian Kelly at LSU basically said they were going to be shopping for DL when the portal opened.

He’ll look good in Turquoise and white…Oxford has some lovely young ladies as well. Smart move
April 18th, 2024 at 12:06 PM ^
I KNOW those credits wouldn't transfer.

MSU Syllabus
art 101: crayon art
health 101: don't eat the crayons
engineering 101: how to make a fort with your crayons
April 18th, 2024 at 12:48 PM ^
Econ 101: What's a good price for crayons?
Math 101: Counting all 64 crayons in the big box (AP class)
Colonial History 101: Give me liberty or give me crayons!
MSU Math 101 professor/classroom aide:
"Okay, now let's try this one last time. You have a box of 64 crayons. You take one out. No, no just one. Please take that out of your mouth. Why are you peeling the paper off? Oh, okay. How did all of your crayons fall out? How did all of your crayons get broken already? That's not funny or safe putting them up your nose like that. Not your ears either. Don't even think about putting it there. Oh for the love of God! The answer is one, you were supposed to take one crayon out!!!! I quit!!!!!!"
That's a schedule not a syllabus, but you still earn an upvote because it's funny and probably true because MSU.
And people on this board would still complain that UM Admissions would not let him in.
Rocks for jocks and the ever popular Greek and Roman Sports from the U of M playbook back in the 70's. (Oh, and Behavior Modification which was elminated before I could take it.)

He must fear for his safety, hence why he is transferring.

Unpopular opinion: I'd be excited for this upcoming fall if I were a spartan fan. Jonathan Smith and Aidan Chiles bring some new excitement, even more than if Tucker wasn't a pervert and they were in desperation mode(no chance they would have made a bowl game if Tucker was their coach for all of last season).
They won't come close to competing with Michigan, OSU, USC, etc....but they have something exciting to look forward to IMO.
Another unpopular opinion...UM better sort out its QB situation or MSU with a good QB may do more that 'just come close to competing with UM'.
I don't know how anyone can have any idea what to expect from UM, especially in rivalry games, when the most important position on the team is so far from being sorted. Sparty is going to be desperate for a win over UM in year 1 of both teams w new coaches.
I have never seen a QB have succes throwing while on his back.

I'm excited for every MSU football season to begin. Sometimes it's warranted: Kenneth Walker ripping off a long TD run against Northwestern on a Friday night in the first quarter. More often it's not. See gestures to recent history
One thing I will never ever forget is the 2003 season. MSU started out 2-0 before losing to noted powerhouse Louisiana Tech 20-19 at home. After the game one of my roommates came home utterly dejected and said, before us, his girlfriend, and God, "Well, I guess there goes the national title run this year" with a straight face. I've never laughed harder at something someone admitted in all my life, and I doubt I ever will.
Oh nooo
Real shame for them.
Dude is a good player maybe we should get him.
