We dont agree on much but man do we agree on what you just wrote.

Well said.

11/18/2018 - 9:52am I sure didnt.  i had us at 9…

I sure didnt.  i had us at 9-3 with losses to ND (got one right anyways) and then two of the four of Wisconsin, PSU, MSU and OSU.  Thot 8-4 was a more realistic possibility than 10-2.

Didnt forsee the impact Shea would have on both the offense and the defense too now that they are getting rest between series.  Absolutely did not see the amazing impact Warriner has had with the offensive line.

What a wonderful thing to be wrong about.

11/17/2018 - 11:30am I wish.  I was one of the…

I wish.  I was one of the initial investors and sat on the BOD for a couple of years before taking active role in executive management.

FYI the surgeon who worked on Denard was one of our guys and the device was used to try and repair his ulner nerve.

11/17/2018 - 9:41am "I want it clear and dry and…

"I want it clear and dry and a quick game with no injuries."

Except for my guy Rocky.

11/17/2018 - 9:11am i honest to God have no idea…

i honest to God have no idea what he's going to do or for how long.  All I know is he's going to be a guest on the show so I'm just hoping he somehow gives a shout out to our company Checkpoint Surgical.

Now that would be awesome.

11/17/2018 - 9:07am I just found out last night…

I just found out last night one of my employees is going to be a guest on Game Day today.   His name is Rocky Ross and he's an ex WR for UCF!  No idea why they picked him yet but he's going to be on.

How cool is that?  Real happy for him.

11/17/2018 - 8:59am These threads crack me up…

These threads crack me up cause me up cause they never, ever change:

OSU root to lose.  Always and forever

MSU root to lose.  Always and forever

ND root to lose. Always and forever

PSU root to lose. Always and forever

Any and all SEC teams root to lose.  Always and forever

The rest just depends on who you're betting on.

11/17/2018 - 8:54am As promised last week's…

As promised last week's Costansa line bets:

MSU +4.5 (loss)

Wisconsin +8 (loss)

Northwestern +10 (win)

This week I like

Michigan/Indiana under 55.5

Nebraska -1

Syracuse +9

And because I really like those three lines and I'm a stupid glutton for financial punishment I'm parlaying them as well

11/16/2018 - 5:04pm My guess is they'll long for…

My guess is they'll long for the good old days of Charlie Weis within a couple of years

11/16/2018 - 9:51am I hope so.  I think no team…

I hope so.  I think no team should draft him in the first round until the Browns are on the clock.

To answer ur question tho not a chance in hell.

11/14/2018 - 4:09pm Tonight we get to experience…

Tonight we get to experience what it's like being a Indiana football fan.

But not very optimistic

11/14/2018 - 2:46pm Very well put Stephen. …

Very well put Stephen.  Absolutely agree 100% with all of it.

You know, if we beat Indiana I sure hope Brian writes something special for this game a-la 11 Swans.  When he's dialed in and motivated he's about as an accomplished writer as you'll find anywhere.  If you're a Michigan fan and you go back and read 11 Swans, dare you not to be filled with goosebumps and chills as you do.

11/14/2018 - 2:29pm Man we are really going to…

Man we are really going to do the whole "Ohio State Experience" this year arent we?

1. Win at Columbus

2. Lose a bunch of talented underclassmen to the NFL

3. Win the B1G East

4. Win the B1G Championship

5. Get selected for the final four

I could get used to this actually.  I mean they can keep their shitty city, lack of academic prowess and protecting wife-beating assistant coaches but the rest of the stuff's pretty cool.

11/14/2018 - 1:21pm The 1986 Minnesota games…

The 1986 Minnesota games waves hello here too.

11/14/2018 - 12:05pm Boy if we can finish out…

Boy if we can finish out this season strong and these projections by Kiper are even close to accurate you're going to see a huge upswing in our ability to land the most coveted of recruits.  That's how OSU has made hay here - high profile program playing for all the marbles more time than not that places a lot of players in the NFL.

Man.  So much is riding on that OSU game this year for us.   I mean even if he do get screwed by the committee a 12-1 B1G Championship Michigan team (and yes I'm putting the Northwestern game in as a win already) would put us squarely back in the middle of the elite programs, provide a huge boost to recruiting and get the media off Harbaugh's ass.

11/14/2018 - 10:27am I know this sentiment will…

I know this sentiment will probably be as well-received around here as a fart in church but I really like their uniforms a lot and would say they are easily the second-best in the B1G behind ours.  And gun to head I would probably admit I like their traditional road unis a bit better than ours.

I give my OSU buddies around here and all the Ohio sports people I follow on Twitter shit for OSU's seeming refusal to ever wear their "normal" jersey's when playing us anymore.  They started screwing around with them when they were beating up on RichRod and havent stopped since.

11/14/2018 - 9:44am FWIW my earliest memory of a…

FWIW my earliest memory of a Michigan game was that 68 team.  I remember listening to WJR's broadcast (virtually nothing was televised back then) for the famous 347 yard game for Johnson and I remember listening to the butt-whipping we took in Columbus later that year and how pissed my brother & dad were when Woody went for two at the end of the game.

I was nine.  That started a love affair that has lasted to this day.

11/14/2018 - 8:53am FWIW this morning the ESPN…

FWIW this morning the ESPN talking heads all agreed that there was no way Alabama will get left out if they lose to Georgia so they were debating which team between ND, Clemson and Michigan would likely get left out.

Joel Klatt has a much better platform than me but we are both saying the same thing.  If Georgia wins the committee will put two SEC teams in and they sending clear and very easy to signals of their intentions right now with how highly they are ranking SEC teams despite all evidence that points otherwise.

11/13/2018 - 10:22pm Pat Forde just tweeted that…

Pat Forde just tweeted that the Kentucky AD has two former assistants on the committee.

Man if i didnt know that the committee was completely objective I'd SWEAR they were getting a benefit from that..

11/13/2018 - 9:50pm Leave the SEC and join the…

Leave the SEC and join the B1G.  That'll drop em good son.

11/13/2018 - 9:49pm Yes Joel…

Yes Joel been saying that quite a bit lately.

11/13/2018 - 9:46pm Joel and i think alot alike.

Joel and i think alot alike.

11/13/2018 - 7:34pm This is good news tho cant…

This is good news tho cant believe they moved Florida up two spots after BARELY beating a shitty South Carolina team, only moved Kentucky down to 17 and left OSU at 10 after their win at MSU.

They SO over rank the SEC its not funny

11/13/2018 - 6:16pm No.  This one's closer to…

No.  This one's closer to when i was super duper sure neither Dantinio nor Izzo would get fired despite the seemingly hourly posts and hundreds of posters claiming otherwise.

11/13/2018 - 4:53pm Oh I'm sure if that happens…

Oh I'm sure if that happens I'll find something else to worry about.

I'm really good at it.

11/13/2018 - 4:30pm Sadly no.  Each week the…

Sadly no.  Each week the thing resets so when they evaluate the quality of the wins/losses they do so based on how the team is ranked at that time, not what they were ranked when they played.

This is why I've been screaming for a week now about what's coming.  By consistently over-ranking the SEC teams all wins are quality wins and all losses are quality losses.  By consistently under-ranking the B1G teams wins are not considered quality wins and all losses are considered bad losses.

It's a shell game where they cant lose.

11/13/2018 - 4:17pm Good point.  I had not…

Good point.  I had not thought the timing of the games.

My core point remains though regarding a one loss Alabama team vs a one loss Michigan team.  But I do think you're right that we'd move back to #4 in two weeks if everything goes as planned.

11/13/2018 - 3:43pm Yes, exactly.  That's…

Yes, exactly.  That's exactly what i've been saying here for a week now.  A one loss Alabama team will trump our Michigan ace cause the committee wants two SEC teams in the final four.

An Alabama win is what he need to have happen.  They wont take a two loss Georgia team before us.

11/13/2018 - 3:41pm You're referencing AP voting…

No, they arent.  You're referencing AP voting and that's not what the committee uses.  They are unranked, as of last week, by the bowl committee.

11/13/2018 - 3:35pm I used last week's data.  In…

I used last week's data.  In all probability MSU will fall out of the top 25 this week as will Auburn giving us one quality win and them two.

11/13/2018 - 3:34pm They arent ranked in the top…

They arent ranked in the top 25.

11/13/2018 - 3:31pm Ok was hoping somebody would…

Ok was hoping somebody would start a thread on this topic cause I didnt want to do one myself.  Watch what happens tonight - I'm fully expecting the committee to put Georgia ahead of Michigan based on their higher number of "quality wins" on the season.  This is the payoff the committee gets for over-ranking the SEC teams and under-ranking the B1G teams all year long.  Take a look:

Michigan quality wins 2: MSU (#18) & PSU (#20)

Georgia quality wins 3: Kentucky (#11), Florida (#15) and Auburn (#24)

Both teams have one quality loss: Michigan to ND (#3) and Georgia to LSU (#7).  I heard at least three different people today on both Fox sports and ESPN say Alabama is in the final four no matter what they do against Georgia and if Georgia wins they will obviously be included as well.   I know that nobody here wants to here that and very few believe we'll get left out but I'm telling you I can see this coming a mile away and if Georgia wins we're gonna get screwed.

Let's see what happens tonight.  If I'm right we're about to move back to #5 while OSU stays at #10 and the committee will put two of their beloved SEC teams in the final four and will make the B1G east title game of 5 vs 10 not nearly as important as 1 vs 4 in the SEC.

11/13/2018 - 12:24pm FYI.  Minutes ago the…

FYI.  Minutes ago the university President Michael Drake just unloaded on McMurphy calling the report "outrageous and false".   Further described this report as "irresponsible, Inflamitory and a severe invasion of privacy of a student athlete."

Methinks Brett crossed a bridge too far on this one.

11/13/2018 - 10:50am FWIW multiple OSU players…

FWIW multiple OSU players who were there that day are defending Smith on the twitters and claiming that the event never happened.

So there's that.

11/13/2018 - 10:21am We banned Yoder for being a…

We banned Yoder for being a full-on liar with no sources or credibility.

They banned McMurphy cause they dont like his message and then news he's reporting.  Big difference IMO.

11/13/2018 - 10:19am Maybe so and I certainly…

Maybe so and I certainly understand why you'd say that but trust me when I tell you that down here things are very different this year.  Last week I listened to an interview with Eddie George on local sports talk radio about the current situation in Columbus and all he could say was "something's wrong".  He said he couldnt put his finger on what it was but there was definitely something going on in the program and it wasnt good.

Nobody down here is very confident about the game this year and that hasnt happened since about 2002.  There is very different vibe in the air with the fans and the program itself IMO.

This IS our year.

11/13/2018 - 10:16am "If you had told me Denard…

"If you had told me Denard Robinson had one of the ten best season completion percentages in the last 50 years, I would have called you a liar.  If you told me he threw for 8.8 YPA, I would have thrown my shoe at you. If you told me it was in 2010 while we went 7-6, I would have demanded to fight you in a duel"

Safe to say you take statistics and records more seriously than most around here.

11/13/2018 - 9:58am Good Lord.  If you saw any…

Good Lord.  If you saw any of the sideline pics of Meyers this past Saturday it was pretty clear to me anyways that the man is definitely not well.  I've got to believe that between the issues the team is having, Zach's periodic twitter meltdowns, his health (allegedly) and knowing what he knows that I'm sure as hell he hopes nobody else finds out about, he's not sleeping much these days.

You've got to know there is more coming.  A LOT more and my guess is McMurphy will start releasing stuff the week of the game when the media attention is at it's highest.

Can't wait.

11/13/2018 - 9:33am I'm biased as hell here…

I'm biased as hell here obviously  but give me a senior Ricky Leach (1978) all day long.  As Ufer called him "the guts and glue of the maize n blue" could not have been more fitting.  The dude was tough as nails, ran the option I offense unbelievably well and could throw when asked.

Remember when you look at completion % that almost NONE of Bo's passing trees included anything underneath.  It was usually a two man route and 15+ yards downfield so no real opportunities to "pad" his stats with short stuff.  And because Bo seldom passed unless it was 3rd down Leach almost never had the opportunity to throw without the entire defense knowing it was coming.

11/12/2018 - 10:18pm It wasnt bad IMO.  Had this…

It wasnt bad IMO.  Had this gem:

Michigan’s defense was a schoolyard bully who accidentally let a kid get a good shot in on him, so as retribution the Wolverine defense gave Rutgers a swirlie in every downstairs bathroom at school.

I mean it was Rutgers for God's sake.  What did you expect, 11 Swans?

11/12/2018 - 7:06pm Is it considered a mortal…

Is it considered a mortal lock that Brohm is leaving? I know it's his alma mater but its a shitty one at best and not sure its an upgrade-prestige wise-over Purdue.

11/12/2018 - 12:28pm I 100% co-sign this.  And I…

I 100% co-sign this.  And I likewise believe that if the doomsday (for us anyways) unfolds with Georgia winning and us being left out it will definitely usher in an expanded playoff format to include all the power 5 conference winners plus one at large team.

11/12/2018 - 12:24pm ESPN has a multi-billion…

ESPN has a multi-billion dollar contract with the SEC & ACC.  ESPN controls the media narrative of who's good and who's not in college football and shockingly the SEC and ACC are consistently and massively overvalued by the committee (see Kentucky at #11 or NC State at #14 for proof).

I think it absolutely IS about the money.  It's always about the money.

11/12/2018 - 11:49am Did you happen to hear Lee…

Did you happen to hear Lee Corso on Gameday?  He said "any final four without Alabama would be a farce" regardless of the outcome to Georgia.  And I know I'm in in the minority here worrying about it but I think he speaks for a LOT of the talking heads at ESPN which controls the money which controls the committee.

And FWIW the arguement that a one loss Alabama wont hip-check us out because it wont happen is silly.  The whole POINT of the discussion is if Alabama loses.  If they dont then it's a completely mute point.

I had the honor of sitting at the same table with Ron, George Lilja, Desmond, Elvis and a couple of other players from Ohio back in 2001 when Lloyd spoke at an Ohio All Academic football banquet.  He was so friendly and nice and we talked a lot (he was sitting next to me) about life, careers and family.  If memory serves he was in the insurance business at that time.

RIP Ron.  True Michigan man.

Very true.   Thx for the reminder.

11/10/2018 - 10:11am Dude.  No worries on getting…

Comrade.  No worries on getting to that state.  She just doesnt want me to START in that condition and then go from there.

If they've got an open bar (and pretty sure they will for the the reason you accurately state) I'm a gin and tonic guy.  Hard to screw those up.

11/10/2018 - 10:08am You are obviously a married…

You are obviously a married man or a very smart single guy.  Rest assured whatever the misses has on tonight will be complimented lavishly by yours truly given the insane amount of effort she's put into selecting it.  And I've been sworn to not say a word tonight to the people at our table about it (I've made several comments lately re the time that's gone into the selection)

To be fair though I'm sure to her it's just as bananas to spend as much time as I do worrying about the implications of the bowl committee selections so I've got to cut her some slack here.

11/10/2018 - 9:46am When they announced this…

When they announced this game was going to be a 3:30 start I was really, really bummed cause my wife has us going to some local school fundraiser that has basically consumed her for the past two months in trying to figure out what to wear.  Night after night she'd be on her computer looking at dresses, looking at what other women wore last year to the damn thing while trying (unsuccessfully) to find the perfect dress cause God knows none of the 200 or so she already owns would work.

So I knew that there was no way in hell for me to get out of this thing and with the gala starting at 6 in a bar there was no way for me to record the game and duck the score.  It also means i cant drink much (if any) during the game cause no way it would be OK for me to show up to this thing more than a little buzzed.

But then I remembered two things.  One - that with any luck OSU will lose to MSU thereby basically locking us in for our first B1G East championship while also making all my OSU honk friends I'll see tonight really, really sad.  And two - that it's fucking Rutgers and the game should be in the bag by halftime.
