I am allowed to not care for the job he's done to date or is that still off-limits here?

FWIW i find the "defend all things Warde" crowd just as ridiculous as the "fire Warde now" contingent.

I do believe there is a middle ground where one can be generally disappointed in his performance but stop short of calling for his dismissal.

01/16/2019 - 10:56am Apparently this was LONG…

Apparently this was LONG overdue.  About fucking time.

01/16/2019 - 8:55am Common now.  I cant speak…

Common now.  I cant speak for everyone here but I know whenever I've got a food question the first group of people I think of to go to for insight and help are a bunch of dudes (mostly) who talk about Michigan sports anonymously.

I can think of no grouping of experts more uniquely qualified to render opinions on the quality of gravy options than that.....can you?

01/15/2019 - 2:48pm Let me know when you guys…

Let me know when you guys are ready to work on spelling.  Down here in Ohio they practice constantly on how to spell "Ohio" because candidly, I think they're unsure of what letters need to go where.

You'll see them walking along and suddenly someone will yell 'O.H." unsure of what comes next.  Luckily there is usually someone close by who is willing to help them out and will respond "I.O" so they can finish the word properly.

Al Borges was able to find a place that really, really hated bubble screens so there's always hope.

01/14/2019 - 1:21pm The coaches poll should be…

The coaches poll should be renamed the "unpaid athletic department intern" poll cause that's who fills the damn thing out most weeks.

Coaches are too busy in-season doing the whole "coaching thing" to actually pay attention to what other teams are doing.  So they find the kid who cleans up, brings everybody coffee and donuts and such and they give them the form with the instructions "here....fill this thing out" and other pearls of wisdom.

The good news is that it doesnt matter one bit.  Not even one little bit what we are ranked by either poll right now or even on selection Sunday.

01/14/2019 - 11:07am OK then he's completely…

OK then he's completely insane.  I was giving him the benefit of the doubt.

01/14/2019 - 9:56am I've read his comments…

I've read his comments directed to me and others and have come to the conclusion that he's most likely REALLY old.  I mean like an old guy that even I would look at and say "hey, that dude is fucking OLD."  With the normal reduction in cognitive abilities occurring.

Or he's nuts.  Like completely off the rails insane.  Where the meds have no effect and he's convinced authorities are bombarding him with gamma rays type crazy person.

Or both.

Most likely both.

01/13/2019 - 9:41pm Dude what in the fuck are…

Dude what in the fuck are you even talking about? You made comments about things you imagined i said last night that made 0.0% sense on this issue and here you are doing it again.

Read carefully what i wrote.  And try again responding to what i actually wrote and not what you have conjured up in your mind.

01/13/2019 - 9:29pm They are trying to make it…

They are trying to make it sound like she was never hired-just a consultant we're not contracting with anymore.

Here's what really happened-They tried to sneak it past everyone, got caught, tried to rationalize the hire, nobody bought it, so they fired her.

01/13/2019 - 9:11pm She's gone now.  Just…

She's gone now.  Just announced

01/13/2019 - 7:42pm Regents did what Warde was…

Wrong OP.  Some regents are asking for her to be fired.

Big difference

01/12/2019 - 4:36pm He also hasnt fixed the…

He also hasnt fixed the schedule anomaly which put OSU & MSU on the same home-away cycle, got completely bent over in the negotiations for resumption of the ND series, left Harbaugh out to dry when he went public with his displeasure over the officiating in the 16 OSU game, raised PSL fees the same year the tax deduction for the donation was eliminated and now this.

In all due respect to the non-revenue sports, Brandon was also pretty good to that group.  But im way more concerned with football first, basketball second and everything else a very distant third.

And this is pretty bad.

01/12/2019 - 4:25pm Um....that was my extremely…

Um....that was my extremely unpopular opinion (around here anyways) almost from the start of his tenure.

The dude has shown me nothing.  Can we please get Hackett back....please????

Im baffled as to why the first thread was locked.

Is it simply because it presents a bad optic on the University?  If so, i dont think shutting down a discussion on the matter is right at all.

01/12/2019 - 9:13am If you strip it down what it…

If you strip it down what it's saying is "dont run plays the defense expects."

Michigan struggles offensively because we believe we can "out execute" other teams even if they know what we're about to do.  With lesser teams that works.  With equal to or better teams it doesnt.

01/12/2019 - 9:09am Colts & Rams today

Colts & Rams today

Chargers & Saints tomorrow

Would bet a two team money line parley with Colts & Chargers as i think both will win straight up and that would pay nicely.

01/09/2019 - 11:26am Not sure how watching…

Not sure how watching Alabama getting their asses kicked is supposed to make me feel better about us getting our asses kicked, AGAIN, by fucking OSU in record fashion but hey, whatever gets you through the night.

01/08/2019 - 3:46pm FWIW multiple reports that…

FWIW multiple reports that the Browns look like they're going to make Freddie Kitchens their next HC.  Kitchens took over the offense once Jackson & Haley were fired and definitely clicks with Baker.  I would be very happy with this move if it happens.

01/08/2019 - 3:44pm AND Baker Mayfield.  Ran…

AND Baker Mayfield.  Ran Baker off and couldnt win with either one.

I mean who couldnt resist hiring a guy capable of that?

01/08/2019 - 12:43pm Yes.  If true we will all…

01/08/2019 - 12:32pm I think you're more right…

I think you're more right than you realize.

I heard a rumor the other day from somebody I trust that I wouldnt post here for anything but I can say that if it's true (and I dont know if it is or not) you have correctly diagnosed the problem.

01/08/2019 - 12:27pm 62-39 has consequences…

62-39 has consequences doesnt it Stephen?

I dont think even you knew how great they'd be though.  I'm sorry we can rationalize the past 24 hours all we want here internally - this is bad.

Real bad.

01/08/2019 - 10:25am This fucking post reeks of…

This fucking thread reeks of desperation.

01/07/2019 - 6:30pm That's exactly why he's…

That's exactly why he's getting negs.  It's a VERY plausible scenerio and nobody is in the mood here for more unpleasant news.

01/07/2019 - 1:17pm Get our asses beat by OSU &…

Get our asses beat by OSU & Florida back to back and now this. Yeah no problems in Ann Arbor problems at all.

01/07/2019 - 11:44am Thanks.  Just finished up…

Thanks.  Just finished up The Haunting of Hill House which was, IMO humble opinion, one of the fucking scariest things I've ever seen on TV.  My poor wife tried to tap out after episode #4 but I got her to watch the rest of them with me which has resulted in several nights of lights being left on in the house.

01/07/2019 - 10:49am I have zero desire to watch…

I have zero desire to watch the game and sincerely hope that feeling is replicated across the country.  Remember when they tried to have the semi-final games on New Year's eve and claimed it was going to be a "new tradition?"  Well the horrific ratings for those games finally caused the "brains" in charge of the damn thing to move them to a more user-friendly night for viewing.

If enough eyeballs are elsewhere tonight (and God bless ABC/ESPN for putting their horrible MNF crew in place instead of the coaches corner broadcast) then maybe the move for expansion will pick up steam.

The reason basketball is so much fun is because of the upredictability of the thing.  Did ANYBODY see Michigan making the finals last year?  I mean even here, in the very pit of unreasonable optimism I dont remember seeing it predicted.  But if college basketball had just four teams in it every year you'd see the same two teams (Duke & Kentucky) playing for the title every year.  And everybody would be bored with the game.

I could give two shits who wins.  I'm no fan of grits, stock-car racing and still have all my teeth so anything involving Alabama bores me to death.  And Clemson is not box of chocolates either so time to binge watch something new on Netflix.

I think I'll start watching "The man in the high castle".  I've heard that's good.

01/02/2019 - 4:00pm Can you point to any…

Can you point to any wrinkles you noticed for the 2015, 2016 or 2018 game?  I agree the 2017 game was schemed extremely well but executed extremely poorly.  The others we basically did we had done all season with little, if any, variations.

I find it amusing that you think negative view colors my view of Michigan football when you are exactly the opposite of me as it relates to the positive.  We're in a thread of 200+ comments and growing with the overwhelming number of them unhappy about the last two games and our coaching staff's preparation and game execution.  Some even going as far as calling for a coaching change.

But there you are.  As dependable as the sun rising in the east telling us all is well, everything in the program is great and if not for a few unlucky and unfortunate breaks that defied all odds we'd be undefeated every year under Harbaugh.

If I am unfairly pessimistic (and compared to the other posters I'm nowhere close to the lunatic fringe) you are unduly optimistic.

Sadly so did Bob Einstein. Better known as Super Dave Osborne and the great Marty Funkhouser from Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Sad day.

01/02/2019 - 1:44pm I've thought about that too…

I've thought about that too and I have a few random ideas why:

1. Harbaugh's play calling by committee probably works fine when there's no pressure but once things start going badly in a big game I wonder how effective it is.  Ask three co-workers where we should go to lunch and I doubt all will agree.  Tell them they have 30 seconds to decide and watch the yelling begin.  I think a lot of the slowness of play and seeming disorganization has to do with a "too many cooks in the kitchen" approach married with the pressure of time.

2. We fundimentally believe that if we simply execute our gameplan we will win, regardless of what the other team is doing so we dont save plays, formations or anything else for big games - unlike our opponents that do.  Instead of spending practice time on things they may only use for the OSU game, for example, they'll work on reps for plays they'll use every game to make sure they've got them down pat.  Can anybody remember EVER seeing a new wrinkle for the OSU game?  OSU, on the other hand, was doing things so differently Seth tweeted mid-game "why do I bother scouting these guys?"  They were unpredictable - we were completely predictable.

3. Because of point #2 teams by the end of the year know EXACTLY what we're going to do and when we're going to do it.  And  because they're also good teams they're able to shut us down pretty effectively.  Tons of film on Michigan by the end of the year and player after player for both OSU and Florida said post game to the effect "we were well coached and knew exactly what was coming before they ran it."

As MDog said above - entirely self-inflicted wounds and entirely fixable if Harbaugh will just let go of the offense but as Brian says, not likely to happen.

01/02/2019 - 1:32pm FWIW I challenge the claim…

FWIW I challenge the claim we have the #1 class in the B1G.  We have the largest class in the B1G so our aggregate number is higher but we are a distant 3rd in incoming player ratings behind OSU & Penn State.

IMO quality beats quantity.

01/02/2019 - 1:15pm You'll probably enjoy the…

You'll probably enjoy the new one then.  He's a dog walker who get tangled up in the leashes and cracks his skull on somebody's front steps.  You actually hear the crunch of his skull bouncing off the bricks in that one.

I think they're going to kill Mayhem in one of these soon.

01/02/2019 - 1:13pm Not sure about that.

Not sure about that.

2006 we were ranked #2 in the country until we lost to OSU

2016 we were ranked #2 in the country until we lost to Iowa and then OSU

2018 we were ranked #4 in the country until we lost to OSU

We have an OSU problem.  If we were beating them not only would national championships be possible recruiting for us would go way up and their's would go way down.

We have a huge OSU problem.  And it's getting worse, not better.

01/02/2019 - 11:06am So?

Shouldnt the best QB…

Shouldnt the best QB start for Michigan regardless of who was the primary recruiter?

2015 - Impossible to start one your own recruits - he didnt have any

2016 - Best QB on the roster was Speight by FAR.  Who should he have started in your opinion?

2017 - Again, best QB on the roster was Speight, at least at the start of the season.  The fact that Peters allegedly pouted when he didnt beat out O'Korn isn't really Harbaugh's fault is it?

2018 - Which QB should he have started over the 5 star transfer from Mississippi?  What did you not see in Patterson that you think McCaffery, Peters or Mixon would provide?

2019 - Now we have a returning 5 star QB for the first time since Christ was a kid but you think one of the three amigos should get the starting job over him?  Why in the heck is that?

There are a lot of things to be unhappy about right now with the football program.  IMO this is definitely not one of them.

For a professional athlete I think that's a great goal and one I'd most likely have as well if I played football for a living.

01/02/2019 - 10:39am Not to pile on the rumor…

Not to pile on the rumor mill but I've heard the same thing from several of my OSU friends connected to their program.

Just a rumor right now but I think the thing does have some legs.  Unfortunately.

01/02/2019 - 10:11am Different sport chap and…

Different sport chap and with 64 (actually 68) teams in the mix every year you get far more upsets and unpredictability than you do with football and four teams.

You're kinda making the OP's point here.

01/02/2019 - 10:10am That's different.  That was…

That's different.  That was wonderful....especially in 2016 when it was absolutely wonderful.

01/02/2019 - 10:08am Boy did you nail it.  My 14…

Boy did you nail it.  My 14 year old could give two shits about football and I dont know even one of his friends that cares.  We basically force him to go the Browns games with us (I know...I know) but this year was pretty damn fun there.  We have fantastic seats and are members of the high-end clubs so it's a great game day experience IF you like football.....and he clearly doesnt.  His comment when we told him he was going to the Atlanta game with us was the following:

"Oh goodie.  I get to go watch a bunch of colored jerseys for 3.5 hours run around"

Back in 1969 when I was 10 I remember fucking CRYING when Michigan lost in the Rose Bowl.  Every game through the 70s I either went to, listened to or watched (when we could) and I couldnt sleep before the really big games and was miserable for days afterwards if we lost.

Your example of baseball, boxing & horse racing are perfect too as those were the #1, 2 & 3 sports in America back in 1950.  Sort of like football, basketball and i guess hockey would be today.  But times change, people change and there's no freaking way football is going to be as popular nationally in 25-30 years as it is today.

We can argue the "why" forever (CTE, cost of attendance, video games, etc) but make no mistake the giant is slowly dying.

You do realize, even in your very angry state, that the act of giving up season tickets supports, not diminishes, the point i was making about caring less right?

Same.  Back in the 70's i was like a mini WD in terms of my emotions when M lost to OSU or especially in the Rose Bowl (we never lost to MSU).  I was a mess for days.

Nowdays it's just "oh well that sucked..what do you want to do for dinner" and that's about it.

12/28/2018 - 1:06pm Florida again.

Florida again.

Apathy. Boring game to play.

Will we win? Who knows
