You have nothing to apologize for 1989! I also happen to agree with your comments in this thread. Free speech is fine. Disrespecting others, and doing it on purpose for two hours, is not. There are literally 3 people in this thread who can’t understand that, and none of them were there yesterday.
Immediately after I posted this thread, I realized that there would be discussion about the protest - so I opened this up on my own! It’s actually been a pretty civil discussion. Our family was at the ceremony of course, and we did not appreciate the protest there, in that environment, because we thought it was disrespectful to the speakers, to the graduates, and to the families and friends who were trying to enjoy a special day. We felt that the protestors did more harm to their cause than help. I’m sure the protestors think differently, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.
Also, the one you probably don’t recognize in the photo is author Brad Meltzer, the commencement speaker. His speech was excellent, and funny, and from the heart - a true blue Wolverine!
Maybe testing NIL possibilities - maybe he decides to stay - maybe he was told he won’t be the starter - maybe he likes another school. Now remove the word “maybe” from all of those, and this is what the “insiders” will say tomorrow.
My expectations/hopes were for May’s first year were for a team that would not be embarrassingly bad, that would work hard, and represent the university well. Seems like we are on track to do much better than that. I am really liking the May hire, even before game #1.

The point you are missing is that they are desperately trying to be Michigan. Which they probably need to be, after the last 3 years of getting their ass kicked, hard.
In their minds they HAVE to win the national championship this year. They look at recruiting stars and how much they spent - but they don’t have the team Michigan had last year. They will not win the national championship.
What an enjoyable read. the last part of your article about Michigan being the better team is absolutely right - we were the better team in every game. There were no flukes, no luck necessary, and no "upsets". What an incredible season.
They went 5-12 last season, so a Super Bowl would be a lot to ask for. But "marked improvement, make the playoffs" seems very possible, especially with a good draft and some off-season additions. Not discounting the Ben Herbert factor either.
Wow. That's an entire 11-man offense, every position - we literally had an NFL offense this past season. And the scary thing is that the defense WAS the better unit.

Yes of course they run sets and plays, but I just haven't noticed the "signs" for those before. If they are coming off the bench or off a time-out then there wouldn't be a "sign". Skeptical that "stealing signs" in basketball is any real competitive advantage. But I feel that way about football too, so I'm probably biased.
