Absolutely agree, and of course that’s not what the article is about. Thoughts and prayers to that family…

I thought this was an…

I thought this was an enjoyable and interesting read - thanks for posting. I think a poster or two may not have actually read it…

Haha I upvoted you Blue. My…

Haha I upvoted you Blue. My daughter screamed her lungs out at every home game this year. I’m fairly sure that both Blake and JJ heard her and were that much better…

You have nothing to…

You have nothing to apologize for 1989! I also happen to agree with your comments in this thread. Free speech is fine. Disrespecting others, and doing it on purpose for two hours, is not. There are literally 3 people in this thread who can’t understand that, and none of them were there yesterday.

Immediately after I posted…

Immediately after I posted this thread, I realized that there would be discussion about the protest - so I opened this up on my own! It’s actually been a pretty civil discussion. Our family was at the ceremony of course, and we did not appreciate the protest there, in that environment, because we thought it was disrespectful to the speakers, to the graduates, and to the families and friends who were trying to enjoy a special day. We felt that the protestors did more harm to their cause than help. I’m sure the protestors think differently, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

Also, the one you probably…

Also, the one you probably don’t recognize in the photo is author Brad Meltzer, the commencement speaker. His speech was excellent, and funny, and from the heart - a true blue Wolverine!

Maybe testing NIL…

Maybe testing NIL possibilities - maybe he decides to stay - maybe he was told he won’t be the starter - maybe he likes another school.  Now remove the word “maybe” from all of those, and this is what the “insiders” will say tomorrow.

My expectations/hopes were…

My expectations/hopes were for May’s first year were for a team that would not be embarrassingly bad, that would work hard, and represent the university well. Seems like we are on track to do much better than that. I am really liking the May hire, even before game #1.

Samaha will be fine.

Samaha will be fine.

Dunlap definitely needs to…

Dunlap definitely needs to be higher. He looked good - and he’s a lot bigger than when he first got here.

Nice to feel optimistic…

Nice to feel optimistic about the basketball program again.

There were no major injuries!

The meltdown that will ensue…

The meltdown that will ensue after they fail to win a national championship will be glorious.

Michigan coaches were…

Michigan coaches were drafted too imo. Harbaugh, Minter and Herbert = +3.

Van Boven is still on State St. I remember going to Fiegel’s as a kid before it closed…

Article mentions Al Renfrew,…

Article mentions Al Renfrew, who won a national championship as a player, and also a national championship as coach of Michigan hockey. He also started the tradition of the Go Blue M Club Supports You banner at football games.

Day is looking more and more…

Day is looking more and more like a truck driver. An unhappy truck driver. No offense to truck drivers.

The point you are missing is…

The point you are missing is that they are desperately trying to be Michigan. Which they probably need to be, after the last 3 years of getting their ass kicked, hard.

Unlike Staee's past quick…

Unlike Staee's past quick decision to extend a big contract to a coach that had been with them only a short time, this is probably a good move.

In their minds they HAVE to…

In their minds they HAVE to win the national championship this year. They look at recruiting stars and how much they spent - but they don’t have the team Michigan had last year. They will not win the national championship.

Cheaters.

Yeah, I’m with you, but let’s face it, the student-athlete today is a lot different than the student-athlete of even 3 or 4 years ago.

Michigan won the last true college football championship.

Yes.

Yes.

Was hoping for a Tuttle…

Was hoping for a Tuttle-esque transfer before the season and we got Tuttle in a Tuttle-esque waiver. Yay!

What an enjoyable read. the…

What an enjoyable read. the last part of your article about Michigan being the better team is absolutely right - we were the better team in every game. There were no flukes, no luck necessary, and no "upsets". What an incredible season.

They went 5-12 last season,…

They went 5-12 last season, so a Super Bowl would be a lot to ask for. But "marked improvement, make the playoffs" seems very possible, especially with a good draft and some off-season additions. Not discounting the Ben Herbert factor either.

Wow. That's an entire 11-man…

Wow. That's an entire 11-man offense, every position - we literally had an NFL offense this past season. And the scary thing is that the defense WAS the better unit.

Edit - "might have been" now out, WAS now in!

[Buckeye fans everywhere] No…

[Buckeye fans everywhere] No way we won’t win a national championship now!!! [heavy mouth breathing and nervous head-nodding] But OSU will not win the national championship next season. And thus, schadenfreude will exceed any previously-seen schadenfreude from any team, at any level, in any season, in any time in all of human history. It will be glorious.

Yes!!!!  Those who stay will…

Yes!!!!  Those who stay will be champions. Even though those who left were champions. It’s good that we have so many champions.

NFL hires over the past…

NFL hires over the past couple of seasons has been unprecedented for Michigan. Very impressive.

Not surprised. They do this…

Not surprised. They do this every year. Unfortunately. Screw them. F OSU!!  @#$&!

Would have been surprising…

Would have been surprising if he stayed. So far, the only unpleasant surprise has been Herbert leaving, but even that was not shocking.

Came here to post the “I” formation with 11 guys making the “I”, and you beat me to it, with a picture as well. Well done!

Great piece - Jim Harbaugh is a good man. I hope you get an opportunity to write for Mgoblog in the future.

Nothing against Balas, but I would like another source to corroborate this.

Yes of course they run sets…

Yes of course they run sets and plays, but I just haven't noticed the "signs" for those before. If they are coming off the bench or off a time-out then there wouldn't be a "sign". Skeptical that "stealing signs" in basketball is any real competitive advantage. But I feel that way about football too, so I'm probably biased.

I honestly didn't even know…

I honestly didn't even know that basketball had signs.
