Should have gone by Tim Meils and he'd still have a job #eB4i #english

Gattis also said the line…

Gattis also said the line was a strength this year, which it certainly could be if Runyan continues to improve and whoever wins the RT job is functional to good and can improve throughout the year.

I wonder if they'd be able to still use the TEs mainly as pass threats and use playcalling and tempo to keep the D off balance enough that somewhat lackluster TE blocking can do the job  well enough? All the TEs on the roster are basically 6' 6" and between 230-250 lbs, so none of them seem likely to be strong blockers, though I agree Eubanks seems to have the best shot of the bunch.

I'm actually thinking about workshopping some standup on the board since anything goes.... Lets see.... Did you ever notice how I is before E except after C? Only sometimes it's not? What's the deal? Is it a rule? What is a rule when it's not a rule? I, for one, blame Scientology. They broke the rule right in the name.  And that's how you get Thetans. Couldn't we have gone with Sceintology, L Ron?

Sounds like a case of the…

Sounds like a case of the system working. Whatever he did  earned the punishment in the eyes of the University.  He's owned up to whatever it was, faced the consequences, and is working to earn a second chance at both school and football here.

What he did (given the context) doesn't really matter here as much as it seems the system is working and the system will or will not let him back in when applicable. In the grand scheme of college football this situation, while unfortunate and im sure regrettable for Chris, is a nice reminder that the student athlete thing isn't complete horseshit at every school. I'm sure we do our fair share of rule bending like every school but there is a line.

this is where being on the west coast is pretty nice, regardless of your sleep preferences. Give me a 9:00 AM football game any day and staying up till 10 local time  to watch the end of a game that starts at 9:30 PM EST is choice.

A lot can happen but UW is…

A lot can happen but UW is replacing their QB and doesn’t seem to be as daunting as UW of the past. ND is gonna be replacing a ton of production, Sparty is sparty and Frames is still coaching PSU. Could we win all those games? Absolutely. Should we ever be favored over OSU regardless of placed bets and coaching turnover and their entire starting lineup being replaced the day before the game? Absolutely not. Win and we will talk about letting us be the favorite next year, Vegas.

Can’t say I know much about…

Can’t say I know much about which of these kids deserves to be DFW player of the year. Don’t follow high school basketball in Texas that closely. Hope he wins for his sake though if he’s earned it

hes only got two feet - can’t  break them again - that’s how bones work if I recall my anatomy courses correctly and I don’t.

Wait just checked the roster and he’s got at least 6 feet according to that, so he definitely broke one of his other feet

Yep and now we are unhappy…

Yep and now we are unhappy with a season where we were a two seed, top 10 all season team because we got swept by state and came this close to another B1G tourney championship and regular season championship- fans gonna be fans - always unhappy unless we win it all baaaabbaaaaay!!

If I had to guess you need…

If I had to guess you need to be pretty elite to get paid - doubt they are offering cash to kids outside the top 100. Enough schools in the mix willing to pay mean they still get spread out. I don’t think Michignan or the B1G is completely absent from these practices across all sports ( probably far less actual coordination with  university staff) but it’s far less widespread

What are these points you speak of

The auto bench is annoying…

The auto bench is annoying and sometimes deployed in excess IMO. One variable to consider here as well is that Coach B uses the auotbench as a punishment. He obviously is foul averse (and for good reason - puts your players at risk and present opposing team with free points essentially) but it seems at least in part that this long time for X on the bench may have been a reminder that his foul was dumb. (Which it was).

You can argue the merits of that as well -  who knows - it may be the threat of the autobench is what prevents additional fouls and thus makes the guys less likely to foul out over the remaining minutes.

Would love to see the model above though!

Would be good to get some…

Would be good to get some games in March where a couple of these guys are scoring at this level like we had in the non conference. Shooting hadn’t been “bad” but we are middle of the road in conference play for fg % and a couple more buckets per game to get multiple double digit scorers would be great for the tournaments. Let’s hope we get hot

I agree in principle but…

I agree in principle but there is a LOT of love for the SEC and ACC right now and despite the B1G being a deep conference I could see how they could still get set up as a two. Gonzaga, Virginia and duke aren’t likely to take a huge step back to wrap out the season without a bad early loss in their tournaments and whoever comes out of the sec will get a look. I can’t see any way UNC could get it over us with the head to head.

Still think we play…

Still think we play ourselves into a one seed if we beat MSU and run the B1G tourney. May need some help across the SEC and ACC but we’d have a tough resume to argue with given non-con performance and coming out of a very tough schedule with only 4 losses. Will be an interesting couple weeks here.

I think scoring more points…

I think scoring more points than the other team is a good idea too but I don’t feel the need to be a screaming asshat in every thread I can fighting and shouting down every person who has even the slightest difference of opinion and generally being a prick. If I don’t even have to mention a username and you can   Infer someone in particular proves the point that he’s a bombast and a troll

Right but you can somehow communicate that without being an insufferable wretch of a human being, sir. Therein lies the difference.

welcome to Michigan kid, where some fans will crucify you before you get a chance to prove yourself and unless you win every game you play while you are here, many will question your effort, commitment and worth, along with your teammates because they have an unrealistic expectation of what this program should be so they can feel redeemed in their fandom. Nice welcome, Maizen. Thanks for beating your goddamn point to death yet again on every post that mentions recruiting in any capacity.

The correct answer is…

The correct answer is whatever you have time for - I love low and slow but some days I don’t have 10 minutes to gently stir  my eggs to perfection and the scorched earth version is a palatable trade off for time saved

if you're looking to run multiple things off the generator at once, finding a good one under $1000 will be a stretch from my experience, unless you can pick it up used.

I think the issue, OP, that…

I think the issue, OP, that I have it that your question presupposes a problem that may or may not be there. If you don't follow recruiting, that's fine, but then why assume there's a problem? If you do follow recruiting, I, like the Dr., would be suprised you would think there's a problem to begin with.

Look at Justin Rogers as one example. 5 star kid, tops in the state. CBs are split OSU and GA right now. People point and say "Michigan can't even get a top kid from in state..rabble rablle" - and yet over the last few weeks he's been to campus a couple times and is supposed to be back for the State game this weekend. Does that mean we will have a CB for him on Monday? No. But the staff is "in it" for this kid.

A lot can happen in a year. Would we have more 5 star CBs at this stage if we'd gone to the CFP or smacked around OSU? Maybe. If we lead for a bunch of 5 stars right now, would anyone on the blog feel good about us landing them in 10 months? doubtful.

I feel like it can't be the…

I feel like it can't be the latter - do people who don't "really follow recruiting" casually visit the 247 top 100 page for a recruiting class for shits and giggles? Or are we just looking to have a discussion of a certain kind?

OPs posting history seems to recently have focused on how Harbaugh isn't "elite" so maybe this is just a backwards way of continuing that discussion? At least we have a whole 10 minutes before the Hei2man/Maizen soliloquy of the day.

Ugh have fan days once we win some championships, right, WD?

Hey buddy -  it's not a…

Hey buddy -  it's not a reward or a carrot. It's an attempt to actually care about these kids and their education. It's a chance for them to travel and see a part of the world they might otherwise not & expand their horizons. How dare they work hard all year long, constantly bouncing from the weight room to practice to the classroom to the field, and be rewarded for that. Don't they know your expectations haven't been met yet? Can you let them know when it's okay to celebrate a win and feel good about themselves? I'm sure they're waiting on baited breath.

Love all these comments…

Love all these comments about how they need to win a championship first. "Hey kid, don't get a once-in-a-lifetime experience to gain perspective on the world, history, other cultures until you've made it so I don't have to get teased by Ohio State fans I work with every year. Brenda in accounting is relentless." How narcissistic is your fandom to even intimate that something like this isn't "deserved" until its been "earned" by winning championships?

Not true - some us are in…

Not true - some us are in point purgatory.

I would have preferred to…

I would have preferred to see Hamilton on Broadway, but I'm sure the D.C. version is fine. I heard the play's a little slow developing and uncreative at times. Not the best but better than average. I'm excited to see the sequel though - sounds faster paced and takes place in space.

Extremely like we are a 2…

Extremely likely we are a 2 seed unless we go on an absolute tear to finish the season. Sweep the remaining games and win the BTT, then I think we've got a case for a 1 seed.

Duke is basically a lock for a one seed, and barring Virginia falling apart over the last few games, if they finish with two close losses to Duke and maybe one other L, they've got a better case than ours.

The other two 1 seeds are between Us, Kentucky, Tennesee, and Gonzaga assuming we all finish strong. Need to win out to jump to the top of that group. Nevada seems unlikley to earn a one seed as they've played no one and have a nearly 30 point loss on their resume.  (edit: I should say I think this is what we need in the eyes of the committee, not what i think is necessarily deserved.)

Another win for Locksley…

Another win for Locksley over Taggart. Maryland has been piling on the Seminoles lately - second qb they snagged away from FSU after they got Lance LeGendre and they also flipped a 4 star safety commit on signing day who'd been committed to FSU all fall. Taggart's got James Blackman (who tried to transfer in January) and a transfer who needs eligibility approved or he has to sti a year and then.......nothing in the QB room. Woof.

Seems like a kid due for a…

Seems like a kid due for a ratings bump. 247 still has him at three star level on their own ratings but he's a 4 star in composite and is getting legit interest from Bama and Clemson as well as the B1G schools. Wouldn't be surprised to see him move into the top 2-3 in the state by the end of the cycle.

Mattison was his primary recruiter last fall but Nua and Sherrone Moore have taken over.

We still have a football…

We still have a football team? Thought we folded the program because we took a couple three stars in the last class thus ending life as we know it and bringing about the return of Gozer the Gozerian.

If Michigan led for a…

If Michigan led for a handful of five stars at this point, how many people on the board would be optimistic we actually land all or most of them? My guess is virtually no one. A lot can happen in ‘crootin, and that applies to  these other schools too. Would rather be out in front but anybody that thinks most of these kids stick with their leaders/verbals through signing day must be new to recruiting

Yeah it’s not great to be…

Yeah it’s not great to be sure but it’s also early so we will see. Staff is doing good work with a lot of four star kids who are outside the top 100 but we need a couple top guys in each class. Doesn’t help that the state of Michigan has one top 100 guy and the state of Ohio has two. Meanwhile Florida has 15 top 100 guys and Georgia has 12 or 13 if I recall. Gotta go get a couple 5 stars this year and round out the class with a solid group of guys

Nice testimonials for the parents of the 2020 class to hear.

The situation with the…

The situation with the player was a strange one. Player and his dad said he was hit by the coach at halftime. Later his dad walked it back saying "I stand behind the university and coach Leavitt 100 percent. I truly believe there was no malicious intent to hit anyone. He grabbed his shoulder pad, but it was like a motivational thing. After talking with Joel, he was satisfied there was not a slap, not at all."

Then the U investigated and Leavitt got canned. Whatever exactly happened there it wasn't exactly clear.

Certainly not condoning his actions but this was a less-than-clear-cut situation.
