|11/20/2018 - 2:06pm||Another nail for OSU…||
Another nail for OSU recruiting coffin. They have good guys but only 15 in what should be a much larger class with nothing left on the board for top prospects outside one or two guys.
|11/20/2018 - 11:43am||Nordin's a good kicker and…||
Nordin's a good kicker and may yet regain his form. Seems he's got the yips a bit this year but even if that's not the case in practice, I think you have to go with Moody on most everything outside of crazy long distances. His 6 kicks looked better than the 8 that Quinn's made inside of 40 yards so far. Go with Moody, sort it out in bowl practice/spring.
|11/20/2018 - 11:31am||Feels a lot like it did with…||
Feels a lot like it did with MSU the first few years of Harbaugh. We outplayed and outcoached them, had better players at key positions, and still somehow lost more than we should have to Sparty. That ship has righted itself.
Same goes for OSU, though their talent level has been similar or better. Could have won each of the last two years with better QB play. Here we are. Real QB, Real O-Line. Same great D.
Can we lose? Sure of course, they're a good team with tons of talent. Do I think we will? Nope. We aren't a team who has to play out of their minds to pull it off. We will have a better gameplan on both sides of the ball, our team is pissed off and out for blood, and we've put a better product on the field the second half of the season. We should win.
Urban's checked out. Their captain quit on them. Their D is getting gashed by everyone.
Don't turn the ball over, play within our abilities, make the plays that are there and we win going away.
|11/20/2018 - 7:56am||Nah - bring it. If it's…||
Nah - bring it. If it's close in the 4th I'll be nervous but this year it's ours to lose. I expect a small lead at halftime to grow to a comfortable win for us by early in the 4th. This OSU team is different. They have it coming. Seize the moment. Break them.
|11/19/2018 - 3:59pm||Think this class will end up…||
Think this class will end up around 29. Perry brings us to 26 commits, drop Gray most likely which is back to 25 and assume one other guy falls out of the class because it happens.
I think they have spots for Harrison, Crouch, and Keegan for sure, with likely a backup/alternate option for Keegan (Jones, Ike), while the other two are must takes due to sheer athletic potential rather than specific positional need.
It looks like they want another WR in the class but are unlikley to get Ford - maybe Khafre Brown, Traevon Raphael, or Cornelius Johnson.
Only other position they seem to be after is maybe Safety with Sanguinetti, Jamal Hill and Jammie Robinson but they've got a couple Vipery guys and a couple Safeties in the class already so not sure if this isn't more of a fill if you think you have space thing.
Likely finish might be adding Harrison (hopefully), Keegan or other OT, a WR, and seeing what happens with Karlaftis/Crouch
|11/19/2018 - 3:35pm||Their recruiting, while…||
Their recruiting, while still filled with some top guys, has slowed to a crawl. Think they have only gotten 1-2 commits since season started and they are only in on a couple of undecided guys on the 247 board. Somethings up.
|11/19/2018 - 2:07pm||Why not. Bring their best…||
Why not. Bring their best game - watch how fast they roll over when we punch them in the throat to start this game. This rivalry is going the same way as MSU. We've outplayed, outschemed, and outcoached them the last few years despite the record and were functional QB play away from wins in each of the last two years. OSU laughed and said "same old same old" and assumed everything was fine. Well, now were back with a healthy QB, a working O-Line, and, again, a light's out defense. Knock, fuckin', knock, OSU. Time to open up and get your ass kicking.

|11/18/2018 - 11:07am||It’s a privileged position…||
It’s a privileged position to be in after the season we have had. The team had several players with the flu, we didn’t pull out all the stop in the game plan, we put up 500 yards of offense and the D gave up 3 points in the second half. If we put the ball in the end zone a couple times including that bullshit at the end of the half this game is exactly what we expected. It happens. There will be no mercy in Columbus. Chase will be out there in a cast or on crutches or from a damn hospital bed if he has to. This is Michigan vs OSU for the B1G Title and a shot at the playoffs. Time for payback, revenge and whatever else you wanna call the ass kicking OSU has coming on saturday.
|11/18/2018 - 8:23am||Have to wonder about the…||
Have to wonder about the remaining guys on the board and the numbers to get there. Do they just have guys like Keegan, Harrison, Crouch and Karlaftis as 50/50 at this point and if they somehow land all or most of them then there some unpleasant work to be done? I don’t think we’ll get all 4 of those guys. 2 seems more likely but 3 or 4 is also possible. it seems like the other guys on the board are takes for positional need reasons.

|11/15/2018 - 11:49pm||Nah this is a "shaping the…||
Nah this is a "shaping the narrative" tactic. Chances are we win but it's much closer than he's saying here as is almost always the case in rivalries. In that case, OSU looks like they exceeded expectations.
And in the event that they win The Game, wow, you have to put them in the playoff conversation - they beat a top 5 team that "everyone" said was a couple TDs better than them and that Purdue game was a fluke. Not that it'd work without insanity in the SEC the next couple weeks but...stranger things.
If he comes out and picks OSU to win, and they lose like we think they will, people think OSU is worse than we thought, and it's another strike against the program in a year where they suspended their head coach for 3 games for enabling a spousal abuser, got their doors blown off by a .500 Purdue team and lost to their big rival who they supposedly were so far ahead of that it was a rivalry in name only anymore. That's a shitty narrative to take into a boring bowl game and offseason.
So, paint your opponent as so much better than you - if they win big, no surprise. if they win close, moral victory. If you win, you've made a case you're MUCH better than people give you credit for.
Only thing to do - bury them.

Yeah doubt it. Haskins probably plays one more year and goes to the draft. Behind him they have Martell, Matt Baldwin who they picked up last year and a kid who walked on with no major offers Kory Curtis. And they have no QB in their recruiting class which is still at 15 and doesnt appear to be growing anytime soon based on top guys their in on that remain undecided.
Martell is a better fit for Urban's offense than the other two, should he remain their coach for two more years.
Edit: They do have Dwan Mathis in the 2019 class, sorry.
|11/15/2018 - 4:44pm||Harrison and Crouch are 50…||
Harrison and Crouch are 50/50 IMO. Harrison probably wants to go here and his family and everyone he knows wants him to go to OSU. Tough to tell everyone you're going to the hated rival. Gonna be a toss up.
Crouch seems to like Michigan but his other option is Clemson, way closer to home for family, and the best program in the area currently. A lot of pull there vs going up North. Both are good programs playing good football. If he loves the south, you could do worse than the Clemson network.
While I think we're in as good a place as we could be for both kids, it really feels like a coin flip on both. Unlikely we land both.
|11/15/2018 - 4:02pm||Pushing out from the class…||
Pushing out from the class might not need to happen as much as a mutual realistic look at them seeing the field. We've seen with increasing frequency this year across college football that players are looking at how they best can see the field vs sticking it out with the school they committed to - why not do that before you have to start dealing with the NCAA?
My guess is there will be a fair amount of late-early guys transferring as well. Guys with injuries who still haven't seen the field after being here a year or two and guys who can't crack the anticipated 2 deep will see the writing on the wall by spring. You either push to the top quickly these days or some talented guys coming in will bury your chances of seeing the field.
It's a new day in college football and in Michigan football. If you show up and don't show out quickly, the days of you having 3-4 years to break into the starting line up are going to be fading for reasons on both side. If that's the price paid to recruit at an elite level, I'm fine with it. Hopefully the NCAA can make it easier on guys to transfer out as well if it continues to move in that direction nationally
|11/15/2018 - 3:13pm||A couple of "insiders" have…||
A couple of "insiders" have hinted at as many as 6-7 already known potential underclassmen transfers on top of expected graduation/eligibility/firm hand shakes.
Who knows what exactly will happen but this is a process, not something that has to be completed on signing day. The final stretch of recruiting/attrition for the the class, the draft, spring ball, and the passage of time will sort the numbers out. This staff knows what it's doing.
It seems to me like we're most likely down to "takes" from Harrison, Crouch, Karlaftis, DeLoach, Perry, and Keegan and then some guys who might replace one of those guys if we don't get them.

|11/14/2018 - 7:35am||I think some of the more…||
I think some of the more rational criticism of Pep wasn’t that he couldn’t run a good passing game and offense in general but that we were trying to run a version of it last year that wouldn’t adapt to the personnel and problems we had. With less than solid QB play and a pourous o-line, it seemed at times like we’re still trying to run things like we were Stanford with Andrew Luck.
Not sure if that was more Harbaugh or Pep but either way it was another place to point fingers for fans who were frustrated by our elite defense being let down by our offense’s play. The same critics of Jay have fallen off as Higdon and Wilson have looked good and big recruits are being pulled in at the position. When things are going well we generally shrug and assume the coaches are all doing well. when it’s not we look for answer and assign blame wherever we can even plausibly assess it. the truth is somewhere in the middle in all likelihood.
|11/13/2018 - 2:25pm||also we landed the top 6…||
also we landed the top 6 recruits in the state (and 7 of the top 10) in 2017. We landed the top 3 in the state in 2018. we're in the battle/conversation for 6 of the top 10 guys in the state for 2020.
Depends on a lot of factors - positional needs, national recruits, kids' interests in UM, red flags that maybe keep UM away, etc..
Al Washington and Sherrone Moore seem to be ace recruiters added to the staff, and this could be another top 5 class depending on how it shakes out like we had in 2016 and 2017.
|11/13/2018 - 2:09pm||none of the recruiting…||
none of the recruiting people have mentioned it so doubtful. There's limited room left in this class with 24 commits and 28 being the very high side of how many we could take depending on attrition and firm handshakes and such. The guys you're hearing mentioned a lot - Harrison, Crouch, Karlaftis, DeLoach, and maybe a few others are the only realistics takes at this point and there's no reason to think these guys will flip from their current committed schools.
this could be one of our top all-time classes by the time it's said and done. can't win every recruiting battle. we continue to move in the right direction.

Good point. He had a bonkers year that year with 1700+ yards on the ground and 2500+ yards passing, over 4000 yards of total offense. And we went 7-6. GERG!
Combination of injuries, defenses adjusting, and other factors in 2011 and 2012 led to him posting 55% and 53% completion percentages those seasons.
But dang, what a year of output. I didn't remember it being THAT impressive.

OSU only has 15 commits so far? Usually I would assume because they're waiting on a bunch of top guys but didn't see their logo next to many of the undecided top guys.
Just a small class for them this year in terms of available slots or what? Seems like we'll move into a top 5-ish class depending on how we finish for guys like Harrison/Crouch/Karlaftis and Penn State will likely end up in the top-10 but not looking like a lights out class for OSU after being Top-5 most years Urban's been there.

Barring unforeseen circumstances, Isaiah Foskey and Aeneus DiCosmo aren't coming here. Foskey wants to play Defense and we are offering him primarily as a TE. He's going to ND more than likely. DiCosmo is going to Stanford once his academic stuffed is approved by all accounts.
Magnus has a good breakdown above about potential position fits for the other guys.
Wouldn't be surprised if a couple lower ranked guys looked around before signing day for places with a clearer path to PT.
|11/12/2018 - 3:07pm||If Gray ends up in the class…||
If Gray ends up in the class, have to wonder if some of these current RBs don’t start looking around. Turner got some camp buzz. Haskins was “coming on” during year but maybe kinda still could be a LB? Evans and Wilson seem to have their roles for next year and after that it’s gonna be an all out battle for snaps with one or possibly two outstanding freshman backs.
Had high hopes for Samuels coming in. Hope he can emerge next spring.

Players generally like comments like those I assume because it's a compliment. Let's not as a fanbase stoke the fires of rumors as was done with Gary and others where we all infer what a player is thinking based on limited knowledge.
Simplest answer is probably the right one. He's coming back from injury and still getting up to full weaponization (offensive wrinkles and timing with Shea) and it's goddamn Rutgers. There's still at least 3 and (we all hope) maybe 4 or 5 games left in this season. Lots of time to see Tarik at full speed killing it.
