I would expect/hope he had a pretty frank discussion about what the offense will look like under him.  Assuming they came to an agreement on all that stuff. 

Then again, the way coaching hires have been going lately, it might just be about the money.  'Who cares if I get to run what I want.  PAYCHECK'

My money is on there was a good discussion and agreement about the offense going forward.

I’d certainly be optimistic for sure.  Kinda torn that he hasn’t called plays, it was Enos and Locksley calling them for Alabama.  Since he spurned Maryland and his fellow coach it would be some combination of money and autonomy in playcalling, but will JH hand over the reigns to someone who has never done it before, I doubt it.   Either way this is a great hire and I’m sure the WR room is going nuts.   Great timing too, that’s a heck of a way to break the deafening silence of the last few days.

And in case anyone is worried “cause MD”, that was one of the better 2019 examples  I’ve  seen of understanding your skills and using it to attack an opponents weakness. They had the speed to  attack the peremiter and used it to their fullest advantage.   They withstood the in game adjustments and just kept bringing it.   It wasn’t because they were only an amazing pereniter team, they truly saw and exploited the weakness.  That’s a subtle but meaningful difference

I think the last one we got from Alabama (indirectly) was McIlwain.

That's the thing about hiring Bama staff...they always look great with Bama, but how much of that is simply the raw talent advantage they start with?

Looks like a cool pickup and all, but I also like the Don Brown method of hiring guys who had success despite a talent deficit relative to their opponents.

I said this a few days ago; still think it's odd.

During the championship game, the announcers mentioned the heavy coaching turnover at Bama and the stability at Clemson.

It may be nothing more than the difference in coaching styles, but I found it odd.  I would think that they would leave after 3 years and take something better, but they made is sound like a yearly revolving door.

Apparently Saban is difficult to work for and grates his assistants the wrong way.  He is going back to the NFL next year because he can't get along with anyone at the college level and his personality fits the NFL better.

At least that's what I heard.  Or maybe it was a differenc coach Paul Finebaum was talking about.

Saban is abrasive.  I read an article the other day, can't remember where for the link.  But it was about the difference in working for Dabo and working for Saban.  Dabo values family time for his staff, Saban only values perfection.  Continuity from a great working environment is essentially the gist of the article.  Dabo's staff loves working for him.  The main guy the article focused on was Venebles, who has had interest from numerous teams yet has stayed because he loves it there.  They also mentioned Scott.  It seemed like all the staff members were open to leaving for career advancement but gave the "it has to be the right opportunity" line.

I've been to Clemson several times and know Dabo personally after coaching high school ball in SC for 20 years. He is a great guy. The football facilities are awesome including a massive slide from the game room and bowling alley into the weight room. They have fun and they want to be there. I saw Coach Dantonio at Clemson last year during Spring practice. That's why the great players want to play for Dabo and high school football in SC is phenomenal. How about Georgia letting Trevor Lawrence go to Clemson? Idiot move.
