09/10/2018 - 1:01am Bears looked better than…

Bears looked better than Green Bay, especially if Rodgers is out for any length of time.  That leg could lock up now that he doesn't have the adrenaline pumping.  Better for the Lions that Green Bay pulled it out.  Maybe the NFC will suck and they can get one of those coveted 7-9 wild card spots?

09/02/2018 - 9:13pm This weekend has really…

This weekend has really demonstrated how asinine it is that there are preseason rankings that are actually posted on the scores during the week one games.  Make the rankings after week one.  Even if everyone knows they are meaningless until the CFP ranking, it's just a lame hype tool.  Also can we unpin the snowflake threads?  Does anyone really want to look at that garbage anymore?

09/02/2018 - 2:57pm There is just no reason to…

There is just no reason to schedule this game first on the schedule. I don’t care if it was Arkansas or ND or Bama or Washington. Make it the second or third game. Michigan is a national name that doesn’t need a high profile game on day 1 of the season just to get some publicity when everyone else is playing cupcakes. We would have gotten the same airtime and hype in week 3.  Stupid scheduling.

Is this Matt Millen doing color for the PSU game?  Sounds like him.  Did he get a heart transplant?

09/01/2018 - 6:47pm Our schedule is looking…

Our schedule is looking easier with every game this weekend.  Really hoping we're the real deal.

09/01/2018 - 12:36am I actually find Wojo pretty…

I actually find Wojo pretty entertaining. If you really listen to him he’s actually very smart and quick witted masked as a dumb fat guy. Makes me like him more because he doesn’t take himself too seriously.  That said, listening to part of Angelique’s new podcast today made me realize those two aren’t really for us, in the sense that I think most avid readers of mgoblog and especially those who read this and maybe another pay site are much more informed than they are.  Although they get the personal stories by being around the team a lot, they’re still just mainstream media putting out the same played out hot takes without much real inside info.

08/31/2018 - 11:43pm The Wisconsin game may…

The Wisconsin game may actually be more significant in terms of the team not being as good as expected.  MSU always does this.  The last few years Wisconsin has won these games be 50.  Doesn't look like the number 4 team in the country, not that the AP poll means anything.

08/31/2018 - 10:50pm BTN bringing up Urban…

BTN bringing up Urban doubling down on his own bullshit in the postgame.  Glad they're not totally letting OSU sneak under the radar.

08/31/2018 - 10:32pm Air quotes don't translate…

Air quotes don't translate well in print I guess.  They were there in my mind.

08/31/2018 - 10:27pm Has Utah State done anything…

Has Utah State done anything that fancy on offense??  Doesn't seem that gimicky a la one of the service academies?  Seems like they just straight up put a beat down on the vaunted Spartan defense.  Not that it will help us any given how well MSU plays against us even when they suck.

08/30/2018 - 5:13pm I appreciate the sentiment,…

I appreciate the sentiment, but I can’t imagine he had much of a shot at the NFL. Isn’t he like 5’6”?  Still blows nonetheless.

08/30/2018 - 9:35am Anyone else think it was a…

Anyone else think it was a little weird in Kelly's pump up speech he says "ND" instead of Notre Dame?  Just doesn't seem like it would stir up as much pride to me, though I guess having him as a coach in general wouldn't either.

08/28/2018 - 12:19am Guys I'm watching the OSU…

Guys I'm watching the OSU game from last year right now on BTN and am about halfway through the second quarter.  It's making me very confident for this season.  We THOROUGHLY outclassed them up to this point, up 14-0.  Literally the only thing we needed to cement this game was a quarterback who knew what a quarterback does (Metellus without the yips would've been nice also).  We have everyone back, with a quarterback who knows what a quarterback does, and an Oline that at the very least is marginally better, and that's all we need.  Could be a big year.  Can't wait.

08/27/2018 - 1:17pm What workout causes bone…

What workout causes bone weakness? And what workout strengthens the muscles of the foot so much as to reduce the risk of a foot fracture? Knee ligaments I can understand some relationship. Foot bones? Nah.

08/26/2018 - 8:33pm At this point the most…

At this point the most annoying part about this whole thing to me is that the Big Ten basically just said "Great job Ohio State. You handled this fairly and impartially."  My dream is that the national medial (ESPN) just goes on a vendetta against him for calling fake news and either mentions the scandal every time OSU comes up or just doesn't cover Ohio State games so they get zero exposure.  Will never happen but it would be great.  What will actually happen, what a lot of the media even predicted will happen, and certainly what OSU anticipated will happen, is that after the 4th game of the season no one will ever mention this again until he either retires or OSU badly covers up his next scandal.

08/26/2018 - 12:25am He will if he needs to.  And…

He will if he needs to.  And neither does Dwumfour, Ross, Ruiz.. All guys expected to contribute at a high level.  Nico has been called the best wide receiver of camp and Martin was pushing Perry.  You're confusing what is necessary with what is ideal.  When injuries happen guys have to step up.

08/25/2018 - 8:45pm If needed we have Ambry…

If needed we have Ambry Thomas who was one of the best WRs at The Opening as a DB.  DPJ, Collins, Perry, Martin is a good list... Just can't afford any more injuries.  Losing Black for another year really blows though.

08/24/2018 - 8:14pm Just saw an ad saying Jansen…

Just saw an ad saying Jansen will be joining as a co-host of Inside Michigan Football? Could they be grooming him to replace Brandstatter as a play by play guy as well? I would be ok with that. Brandy must be getting close to retirement.

08/23/2018 - 12:03am It's shocking that these…

It's shocking that these things are actually in the report as apparent explanations.  Medication?? Unreal.  They may as well have just said fuck you guys he's a good coach.

08/22/2018 - 10:11pm Just was watching the…

Just was watching the presser on College Footbally Live, and quite frankly it's insulting that they think anyone would buy that bullshit.  Urban knew about the 2015 stuff but forgot during Big Ten Media Day?  And they were impressed by his commitment to respecting women??  And they didn't report the issue to compliance but they basically just didn't care about that?  Such a joke.  Hate OSU so much.

08/14/2018 - 9:47am Didn’t realize personality…

Didn’t realize personality for tv translated into coaching? I was pleasantly surprised with how he did on the the set because he was not very likable during the schembechler hall segment.

08/14/2018 - 1:15am Sorry to burst your bubble…

Sorry to burst your bubble... I like Peters too but not sure where you're getting your info.  Seems like you're believing coach speak over insider info.

08/13/2018 - 4:48pm The only thing that worries…

The only thing that worries me about ND’s offense against our defense is my own lack of worry. He’s going to need to hit football sized windows while getting the ball off in less than 2 seconds. He ain’t that good.

08/08/2018 - 5:17pm Eh.. some kids just want to…

Eh.. some kids just want to get away. I actually always think it’s a bit of a disservice how so many recruits’ parents seem to mandate that they stay close to home. If my kid had the chance to go any school in the country for free and he wanted to experience something new I’d say spread your wings. To each his own though.

08/08/2018 - 3:21pm He was talking to Karsch…

He was talking to Karsch this morning about how incredible the transformation has been for the Oline in terms of strength.  Said they do a drill where a guy tries to push a sled weighted with 850 pounds 10 yards.  In the Spring some guys couldn't do it and most were doing it in 45 or 50 seconds.  Now some guys are doing it in 9-10 seconds.  He talked about how that drill and that type of improvement is very important for the Oline especially because it is a unifying experience as a guy is drooling and grunting his way for 10 yards while everyone is cheering him on.  Said the way they're attacking at the line of scrimmage and getting push has had a similar improvement and is night and day between last year to now.  Karsch mentioned that we haven't had a "Michigan" Oline in 10 years and he said this will be the best one in 10 years.  Maybe not as good as the 97 Oline because they had 3 first rounders on that line.  So they have less raw talent than that team but this will be a great O-line and there will be a noticeable difference.  He mentioned the way they're chipping and stepping across to help pick up linebackers is making a huge difference and they just seem to be on the same page as a unit this year.  Because of that the running backs are also doing a better job in pass pro.  Said he's seen a lot less linebackers running free into the backfield.  In short, he's very optimistic.  Had similar things to say about whatever QB comes out of fall camp being better than what we've had the last few years in terms of reading the defense, changing plays at the line, and escaping pressure to make accurate throws on the run.  Summer fluff and all that but I tend to trust former players more than other talking heads, and Jansen I don't think of as being the type to blow smoke.

08/08/2018 - 3:00pm Wouldn't you rather give…

Wouldn't you rather give other teams as little info as possible to improve the chances you get to watch more wins with your season tickets?

08/08/2018 - 10:24am I’ve said right from the…

I’ve said right from the start he isn’t going anywhere.  OSU doesn’t care about perception or morality.  They care about winning. That’s the way it’s always been. Why should they care what the rest of he country thinks of them? Everyone hates them anyway outside their own fan base, who again, only care about winning. There’s not a lot in Ohio to claim superiority for. This is their one thing.

08/02/2018 - 10:51pm The things that jump out to…

The things that jump out to me about this fake story are 1. That he mentions her being a stay at home mom and living off his child support as some sort of attack on her character which.. wow. And 2. I'm not in law enforcement so maybe someone can help me out, but aren't the police required to respond to every call regardless of the situation and if its a repeat faker they can charge the faker with something?  If the Columbus police just didn't respond to that many calls I would think they would be in hot water as well.  Any way, don't get caught bringing a logic to a stupid fight i guess.

Sorru Courtney not Kelly.  I don't know who Kelly is.  This is how rumors start.

08/02/2018 - 10:23pm Don't forget the text where…

Don't forget the text where Shelly Meyer told Kelly directly, "I need to tell Urban," and Kelly said, "Tell Urban."  I guess she forgot to hit send on the text that said, "I told Urban," and by the time she realized it the moment had passed.

08/01/2018 - 11:27pm That's just documenting in…

That's just documenting in the chart for future legal reasons.  Mandated reporters are only mandated to report on abuse of children/minors and elderly.  Domestic violence between husband and wife doesn't fall under that unless there's a child potentially endangered by it.  It's on the woman to report it herself.

08/01/2018 - 3:25pm Haven't read through all the…

Haven't read through all the comments in here, but according to the OP it sounds like the coaches were told by their wives and the coaches told Meyer?  Sounds like if that's what Warriner did then he did the right thing.  They could go above Meyer, but ultimately they don't have control over firing/retaining Smith.  We don't know what went on behind closed doors as far as how much conflict there was over it.  Based on Meyer/OSU's history, we assume probably not much, but we ultimately don't know.

The other component to this is that Smith's wife didn't go to the police.  If Meyer fired Smith and his wife didn't press charges to get a restraining order, it very well could have set Smith over the edge and actually put her life in danger.  Meyer has a history of overlooking things, but that's something anyone in his situation should think about.  These are not easy situations to handle by their very nature, and it's always easy to pass judgment until it involves you.  Tough to know what to do if Warriner knew, but I certainly don't know that I would fire him.  Just one more thing to learn from among all the recent scandals.  If it happens in the future on our campus how will we handle it?  That's the thing to learn from it all.

08/01/2018 - 12:23am What elite program has…

What elite program has played a schedule this tough in recent memory?  Alabama is the elite of the elite and they play cupcakes in the OOC and half the SEC is garbage.  The only ones that jump to my mind are ND when they went to the national championship game (but that was the exception to the rule of their annually murderous schedule biting them in the butt), and Clemson.  It could be said that elite programs don't play tough schedules, or that Clemson is the only elite program by your logic.

07/31/2018 - 9:35pm Sorry no editing.. But also,…

Sorry no editing.. But also, if the offense is effective enough to put up that many points I just don't see us losing, because this defense is set up to be the best yet under Harbaugh.

07/31/2018 - 9:29pm Can't really deny the…

Can't really deny the possibility of a loss to MSU based on recent history but a loss by that many points is just not going to happen.

This would be my exact description of Sam Webb.

If he loses those again this year the guy you're thinking of replacing him with will have a full cupboard so no excuses!  Who is that guy again?

I've never had the opportunity to go to the bank for some cash because I was too busy watching the painters like a hawk to make sure they didn't jack something up.  They always found a way those sneaky bastards.

Also I would much prefer having a dedicated mobile app than having to go to my phone browser which in itself is unwieldy.

Total computer illiterate here but I'm not a fan.  I'm not even sure I can put my finger on it but the site seems more outdated to me now.  Could be that it looks more like every other site out there now whereas the old site was unique.  Could be all the white space. The size of the font in the right sided columns is also a bit big. I like how on the old site I could see more of the recent topics without clicking around.  Although for some reason I was never able to go to the next page of Mgoboard topics on the old site, so that part is better for me anyway.  Overall downgrade.

06/03/2018 - 8:24pm Coaching for a Gores owned

Coaching for a Gores owned team would be just about the worst end to Beilein’s career that I can imagine. He would be miserable.

05/30/2018 - 1:04pm May have missed his shot. He

May have missed his shot. He basically showed that he can’t manage even the college egos of a bunch of five stars he never really had before. How’s he gonna handle a bunch of NBA egos? If he benches the best player on his team in the NBA it would be a short career. Also his whole scheme/philosophy is becoming outdated.

05/30/2018 - 12:59pm I agree it would be great to

I agree it would be great to have that third down missile after our first second and third down missiles of Winovich, Bush, and Hudson. Seriously I agree.

05/30/2018 - 12:51pm Unfortunately you’re

Unfortunately you’re incorrect. Absolute perfection would have included breaking up the pad in the end zone against FSU to win the game.

05/03/2018 - 9:22am I would imagine if tenet can

I would imagine if tenet can find a buyer for dmc the affiliation will be started up again. No one wants to deal with tenet. Must be one of the worst corporations in America.

Stay on the hill. You’ll meet everyone.

05/01/2018 - 9:51am I’ll take a little more of

I’ll take a little more of the terrifying part as long as we have someone who can make SOME plays.

04/26/2018 - 10:36pm The 12th best record gets you

The 12th best record gets you out of the playoffs early or just outside the playoffs with a shitty draft pick, and that's exactly what they've gotten.  And I don't care if they were let go to save money, they were stars that had to be replaced.  I'm just saying that's the reality of the Lions.  They run out of time with their stars before they can construct a team around them.

04/26/2018 - 9:01pm Lol Browns could’ve taken

Lol Browns could’ve taken Barkley at 1 and traded down and still got mayfield.

04/26/2018 - 1:12pm The problem is every year it

The problem is every year it seems like the lions are drafting to replace one of their best players who’s inevitably leaving rather than to fix a glaring problem and build on what’s there. This year it’s Tate and Ansah. Two of our best players (although injuries have hampered Ansah) who are very likely not going to stick around. Before it was Suh, Megatron, Levy.. could go on and on. We just have a culture of losing that is rivaled only by the Browns in all of sports.
