Someone said it yesterday or Friday, I think Yahoo has a ton more on this and is dribbling it out to last through at least March Madness. Like you said there's just a ton of evidence provided by just Dawkins thus far, has to be more coming from the Adidas execs minimum.

The same organization that can takes decades to solve a case...
Decided Bridges was clear to play after a day.
Am I missing something here?

While it took them years to investigate Nassar.

That Appling Payne assault was reported on August 30, and the prosecutor announced there would be no charges on September 28. Wondering if this is a typical time frame for an investigation ?

for a CSC that is beyond fast, that is light speed X 100. only in the most extreme circumstances, such as a victim denying the charge and their being no physical evidence whatsoever, would a prosecutor make a decision on a charge that serious in that time frame. you have a duty to investigate, a duty to follow up, gather corroborating data even (and especially) when that data points to innocence.

Even worse, they'll take years to solve a case, lay down a punishment while somehow managing to sound almost apologetic for finding things as they did. Indeed, they've even retracted sanctions *coughPSUcough* because in their very myopic view, they'd been such a good school and could have their dinner after all, no need for them to be in their room for the rest of the evening.

In a statement, MSU interim athletic director Bill Beekman said MSU conducted a “thorough internal review”... MSU’s players have showed a mental toughness in recent weeks as their program and coach have been under siege after an ESPN Outside the Lines report questioned Tom Izzo’s handling of sexual assault and violence toward women in his program over the years. Meanwhile, the Spartans have won 11 straight games
What a horrifying article.

Cannot conduct a "thorough interview" in 2 days.
I would rather them come out and say, "We took a quick look. There's not enough time to honestly review the information."
Give me a break.

Yeah, we had to vacate some wins but no one takes that seriously so why not let him play.

Graham Couch is amazing.
I don't mean that well. It amazes me how predictably bad he is. He can technically write with acceptable skill; it's the stuff he says that shocks and appalls.

IF YOU CAUSE THE SIEGE!! msu scum.
GO BLUE!!

I found footage of Beekman's press conference announcing the decision.
As someone who went to school with the Beekman's, it's pretty sad to see MSU turn Bill into a joke. So he's the acting AD now? Will he take over as acting basketball coach when Izzo is fired?

So it's not really about whether rules were broken or not that matters to the NCAA, but whether the school offered a "thorough" report. Got it.
Watch them lose at the Trohl Center though. Ball don't lie.
February 24th, 2018 at 5:29 PM ^
don't rule them out. happ has been playing damn good lately.
February 24th, 2018 at 4:38 PM ^
Man, the NCAA is really hoping MSU will lose by double digits to Michigan again, this time in the BTT.

I have my doubts the schools knew. I have seen these rumors on message boards, but can you cite a reliable source reporting this? I haven't seen any reporter saying this. I just think the schools DGAF for the rest of the 2017-18 season.
Compliance probably went to the coaches, players and families and asked if it happened. They deny it. The agents and runners are facing federal charges so they aren't going to talk. What else can you look into when most of the evidence collected by the FBI is not public yet? Despite Sean Miller's assistant coach getting caught up in this probe months ago, Miller was considered clean until the wiretap info got leaked yesterday.
February 24th, 2018 at 4:52 PM ^
I wouldn't doubt that they are generally tipped off in advance.
February 24th, 2018 at 4:57 PM ^
Why would the FBI tip off the people they are investigating? Most of these schools probably did not find out until the reporters called them for comment. If they knew already, I think they would have had a statement ready for the press.
And like I posted in the OP, I think Arizona handles Sean Miller differently if they knew about this weeks or months ago.
February 24th, 2018 at 4:57 PM ^
It might not be deliberate but I'd suspect info like this would get leaked out.
February 24th, 2018 at 5:02 PM ^
And back to my original question: have you seen a reliable source reporting that the schools knew in advance?

The NCAA doesn't have any actual evidence to clear or suspend the players or coaches in the leaks. They are leaving the decision of whether to play them up to their schools. That doesn't mean the schools won't eventually be punished if they do,
If I was making the decision for a school, I'd play them if I knew the violations were big enough that the season was going to be forfeited anyway. Not much more to lose. If the only violation was very minor, then suspend the player for a couple of games just like you normally would.
