Good to have depth, Danna should be in the rotation if he catches on.

02/12/2019 - 10:58pm 1-11 Penn State.  Losing to…

1-11 Penn State.  Losing to them is bad.

02/09/2019 - 9:36am Frankly, neither Patterson…

Frankly, neither Patterson nor Fields has a good enough reason to get a waiver IMO. There was zero chance Fields wasn’t getting a waiver after Patterson got one.  I said that from the start.

02/08/2019 - 9:54am RB is a huge problem. …

RB is a huge problem.  Charbonnet is a really good recruit, but I do not expect him to be able to step in and be our lead back as a freshman.  I love his agility and vision, I wish he had a little better speed and burst though.

I am 100% in favor of finding a grad transfer RB.  We need someone to carry the load.

I really like Christian Turner, but if he was better than Chris Evans he would have gotten more carries last season.

Does anyone really think Tru Wilson getting 20 carries a game is going to be a good thing?

02/04/2019 - 2:04pm I'm with you.  This kid got…

I'm with you.  This kid got lied to and the impact for him is pretty shitty.  And his GPA and ACT as a football player gets him into any program including Northwestern and Stanford.

This is what we signed up for with Harbaugh, I gave him the benefit of the doubt with the first couple kids, but it's no longer a situation where he gets the benefit of the doubt.  There are too many kids and families who say they were lied to and misled.

This one seems especially egregious since it seems like it cost him an opportunity for a scholarship at another program at least for now.

It's pretty simple really, don't offer kids a scholarship if you're not sure you are going to honor the offer.  If you do make an offer like this, be clear it's not an acceptable offer until X, Y, and Z happens and then when X, Y, and Z happen honor your word.

It is what it is, Harbaugh is trying to win at all costs.  Bama and OSU have done similar things, but it seems now the frequency we do it with has surpassed those 2.

02/03/2019 - 1:04pm Had over 100 yards on 16…

Had over 100 yards on 16 touches vs Ohio State in 2017. Over 100 yards on 17 touches vs Maryland, 191 yards against Minny, 125 yards on 16 touches and 2 TDs vs Purdue the same season. Has a nice game vs Florida. This season he had a nice game vs Penn State. Was also good against a few teams in 2016 including FSU.

Evans was banged up last season or I think he might have split carries 50-50 with Higdon. He certainly has shown a lot more than any other back we have for this Fall.  But now maybe he’s gone and are fans are crapping on him. This happens too often.

02/03/2019 - 9:07am This is where some fans lose…

This is where some fans lose me. Evans has 344 career touches and 20 TDs and averages over 6 yards a touch. Turner has a career long run of 19 yards and has shown almost nothing at the college level. Evans is a proven commodity, he was hurt last season, but he’s shown he’s  a big play threat at this level.

Im hopeful Turner can replace him and I’m hopeful Charbonnet can replace Higdon, but those things aren’t likely and it’s most likely it’s RB by committee all season.

02/02/2019 - 1:16pm Yeah, if this is true it’s a…

Yeah, if this is true it’s a loss, there was about a 75% chance Evans would be our leading rusher in 2019.

I love Charbonnet and think he’s going to be a stud here, but the chances of him being a big factor in 2019 are not more than 30%.

02/01/2019 - 11:00pm I think we’re atill a very…

I think we’re atill a very good team. Not perfect, but still a top 5 team. It’s teally hard to win on the road in the Big Ten. Iowa player with a ton of energy and took it to us.

I think we have some weaknesses, teams can score when they go fast. On O  we can struggle from distance.

Anyone verify this?  As I’ve said in other similar threads, the longer this thread stays up the more likely it is to be true.

01/30/2019 - 6:53pm They’ve been better without…

They’ve been better without him. He was the lone player in their team who regularly took poor shots. When he was hot they were really really good, but when he was cold it made them a worse team and he wasn’t consistently hot.

This makes them better short term, but a guy like him would be needed in the tourney.

That’s not how it works I think.

01/26/2019 - 11:53am Wow. 10 additional transfers…

Wow. 10 additional transfers would bring the total number up to 15+?  I’ve never seen that much before without a head coaching change.

When is the logical time for some of these to be announced?  Before Spring practice?

01/22/2019 - 9:24am So basically 3 or more…

So basically 3 or more additional transfers.  If we add a transfer or 2 ourselves, that number could rise.  That's not a big number to me.

01/19/2019 - 3:14pm Wisconsin has just lost 4 of…

Wisconsin has just lost 4 of 5 including 1 to Western Kentucky. They played well today, but they are slumping.

01/15/2019 - 7:41am So a guy who’s never called…

So a guy who’s never called plays before is calling plays and we’re supposed to swoon?  Hope Gattis is the next super star, but it’s wait and see until we see it.

01/10/2019 - 5:17pm LOL!!!  The only power 5…

LOL!!!  The only power 5 school with a worse offense than MSU was rutgers. And they’re keeping their entire offensive staff!!

LOL!  MSU will never against contend in the conference. They are finished. Point and laugh, Dantonio is a joke.

01/10/2019 - 3:59pm Decent hire, he's been…

Decent hire, he's been really good as a WRs coach.  Sounds like Saban picked Dan Enos over him and he took a hike.  Never called plays before, so Harbaugh will continue to be the decision maker on play calls.

Not a big flashy hire at all, but could be solid.

01/10/2019 - 3:04pm Sometimes this site makes me…

Sometimes this site makes me laugh.  Of course fields will get to play, he's got a better case than Patterson.  Both should be eligible immediately.

01/10/2019 - 10:37am Glad we're keeping DB!

But…

Glad we're keeping DB!

But Mattison and Washington are still losses.  And it's sunshine blower central to say Mattison and Washington were why OSU put 62 on us, but DB was not.

Any USC recruits we were in on?

01/08/2019 - 2:39pm Day knows one thing.  He's…

Day knows one thing.  He's taking over for a coach that went 7-0 vs Michigan.  He loses to us next Fall and his time at OSU could be brief.  Ohio State fans and donors will not accept losses to Michigan.  Furthermore, he loses to us next year, and he's got assistant AD Meyer waiting in the wings, it;s not an ideal situation for him.  So I view these 2 hires as pulling out all the stops to beating us next Fall.  That one game is all that matters to Day.

Beating Ohio State next season could be the 1 win to completely change the trajectories of each program.  More will be on the line in that game than just a win or a loss.

01/08/2019 - 1:51pm These weren't staff changes,…

These weren't staff changes, these were staff defections.  We offered Mattison an extension and a raise, he left for our arch rival.  And we certainly didn't want to lose Washington.

01/08/2019 - 1:10pm All I know is that I am…

All I know is that I am really concerned that Don Brown is leaving now.  2 of his assistants jumped ship, maybe he's already told them he's gone.

01/08/2019 - 12:33pm I'm not panicking or…

I'm not panicking or anything, but this is not good.  Losing 2 of your best assistants doesn't improve your team.  We will replace them with good guys, but it will be 2 new guys to have to break in.  And Losing them to OSU is really bad, they are taking our playbook with them (Maybe not literally, but they'll be talking all of our plays in their heads with them).  They'll also know our personnel.

01/08/2019 - 10:13am Ohio State had a bad defense…

Ohio State had a bad defense last year and still won the Big Ten.  Mattison and the other moves they're making will help get their defense back on track.

This was an odd move, but considering he's co-DC, it's a really good one.  When you can pull your rivals best position coach away from them, you do it.  It hurts Michigan, it helps OSU, and the optics of it are really bad for Michigan.

01/07/2019 - 9:38pm I don’t think even or WRs…

I don’t think even or WRs are at this talent level. Just a lot more speed on both teams. Line play is ridiculous.  And RB play is light years beyond ours.

I don’t think Gary starts for Clemson. Might for Bama.

Blind drunk is the only way to view this game.

01/07/2019 - 7:50pm I don't see him raiding…

I don't see him raiding Mississippi State's nor Clemson's defensive staff, so not likely.

01/07/2019 - 6:55pm If a kid really wanted to…

If a kid really wanted to make a stink, he could probably get out of his LOI if the coach that recruited him is gone.

01/07/2019 - 5:09pm Durant would be in reference…

Durant would be in reference to Kevin Durant leaving OKC to join a powerhouse rival in Golden State.

Traitor.

01/07/2019 - 2:58pm I hope you're wrong, but…

I hope you're wrong, but this is my take as well.  Mattison heading to Ohio State is a slap in Harbaugh's face.

01/07/2019 - 1:56pm If he takes Washington with…

If he takes Washington with him, it's a major loss.

01/07/2019 - 1:49pm I hate this for us.  But I…

I hate this for us.  But I don't get it for Ohio State.  Ohio State can have whomever they want, and they pick a 70 year old D Line coach?  Is he going to be co-DC?  If so, with who?  Larry Johnson?

It sucks for us in that Mattison knows our defense, our offense, and our players.  It's not great for OSU outside of that it will certainly give them an advantage in the Game.

Also, OSU had a really bad defense this season, any change is bound to be a big step up for it.

01/07/2019 - 1:32pm Wow, this is awful news!

Wow, this is awful news!

At this point, maybe Don Brown will leave and that will help us, because without a new defensive scheme, Mattison is going to feed OSU every single concept and defensive call we have.

I hope he’s not being Washington with him. That would be terrible.

01/07/2019 - 12:31pm Brown definitely made a…

Brown definitely made a difference vs Penn State, but Penn State not having maybe the most dynamic football player on the planet in Saquan Barkley was a big reason we contained them well this season.  Barkley was a freak for Penn State, and now he's a freak in the NFL.

01/07/2019 - 11:07am There's a lot we can do to…

There's a lot we can do to make the offense more potent.  One thing though, I feel we have 3 possession receivers in Black, DPJ, and Collins.  DPJ has more speed, but I feel he's gotten a lot bigger since he's been here and that's probably cost him some speed in his 40 time.  Those teams that are running 4 and 5 wide generally have 1 big guy maybe and then 3-4 guys who are all small twitchy guys who can get open in small spaces.  If we go to more 4 wide sets, I'd think maybe some of the smaller guys get more reps.

We return 7 starters on O, not 9.  We lose JBB, Higdon, Perry, and Gentry.

The issue I see is that the person who used the racial slur against him was part of Georgia Athletics.

Just prepare yourself, Fields is playing for Ohio State this Fall, period.

01/04/2019 - 12:28pm Fromm a lesser recruit?  I…

Fromm a lesser recruit?  I guess so, but he was still the #44 composite player in the country, darned near a 5 star himself.  It's not like Fields got beat out by a 3 star.  Rivals had him as a 5 star.

01/04/2019 - 11:57am I'm a realist.  Losing the D…

I'm a realist.  Losing the D Line and losing Bush is a massive impact.

And I know I'll get negged for this, but people need to cool their jets with Charbonnet, I love his film too, but freshman RBs have to be special to do much their first year.  Charbonnet lacks the top end speed to be our starter IMO.  I love his agility, vision, and toughness, but the speed is simply not there yet.  For a big back, he has some speed, but if we think we won't miss Higdon (our best RB in 15 years) they must not have watched the Peach Bowl.

And Gentry was a weapon, all TEs have some drops, even Gronkowski drops balls.  We do not have a threat at TE close to Gentry in 2019.

I was thrilled that Patterson got to play right away, I think the Ole Miss staff lied to him, but I also knew he probably should have had to sit a year.  Glad it worked out for us.  But the door has been opened, Fields 100% guaranteed will be eligible this Fall.  Regardless of the merits, the NCAA is going to let Patterson play for Michigan and not let Ohio State play a guy right away too, that would give the appearance of uneven treatment.

If it was documented that he was threatened on campus like he claims, it's a slam dunk for immediate playing time.  More o than Shea.

I have no idea how he looked at UGA, but Fields was supposed to be a phenom.  Athletically he's a freak, my guess is he splits time with Martel this Fall.
