In your defense, at least five other posters seem to have misremembered it as well (based on the upvotes).

11/18/2018 - 5:24pm Most onside kicks come in…

Most onside kicks come in obvious situations.  It would just eliminate the rare surprise one.

11/18/2018 - 5:13pm How about this?  A team is…

How about this?  A team is allowed one kickoff (either returning or kicking) per game, to be used whenever it deems appropriate.  In most cases it would be saved to the fourth quarter and if the game isn't close, won't be used at all.

11/18/2018 - 5:11pm If there were no kickoffs in…

If there were no kickoffs in 97, we wouldn't have beat OSU or won the NC.

Woodson scored on a punt return, not a kickoff.

11/18/2018 - 4:50pm Confirmation bias?  Ramsey…

Confirmation bias?  Ramsey was 16-35 for 5.6 YPA.  IU's two TDs were not set up by pick plays but by deep balls up the sideline.

This was Ramsey's second-lowest YPA of the year, the first time all season he was held under 50% completions and the first B1G game in which he did not pass for 200 yards.

11/18/2018 - 12:14pm And seven of their offensive…

And seven of their offensive points came in the final minute of the game when Meyer decided he needed to run it up instead of taking a knee.

11/18/2018 - 12:11pm That post is from September…

The ND game was Sept. 1.  Your post is from September 23.   You made your post after we'd already destroyed WMU, SMU and Nebraska.

11/18/2018 - 12:08pm Holding back some of the…

Holding back some of the defensive playbook =/= intentionally letting the other team score.

11/18/2018 - 10:16am People need to stop…

People need to stop expecting perfection every time out.  It was a classic trap game and  IU is a scrappy - and dirty - team that plays most teams tough.  Now we prepare to bring our A game next Saturday.

11/17/2018 - 11:59pm Everyone's freaking out…

Everyone's freaking out about the game, and I obviously wasn't happy about the performance during, but lets take a step back.

Everyone?

I think a lot of us are more upset about IU's dirty play and the O'Neill crew's continued incompetence.

11/17/2018 - 11:14pm I don't think anyone is…

I don't think anyone is dismissing him going 6-6.  That is awesome and really encouraging.

It's just that the "We lose without him" line of reasoning is questionable.  We gained over 500 yards of offense in this game.

11/17/2018 - 11:13pm 3rd-down playcalling may be…

3rd-down playcalling may be different as well if you can't trust your kicker.

11/17/2018 - 10:58pm With a less reliable kicker,…

With a less reliable kicker, our red zone playcalling would have been different.  We were confident Moody would deliver three points and kept it conservative as a result.

11/17/2018 - 10:55pm Is it too much to at least…

It's like he's pulling a George Constanza and trying to get fired so another conference can hire him. Please pull the trigger Delany.

11/17/2018 - 12:00pm 1.  Jumping out of a third…

1.  Jumping out of a third-story window will almost certainly result in serious injury and possibly death.

2.  Walking out the door will almost certainly not result in serious injury nor death.

3.  Ergo, walking out the door is the percentage play.

How'd I do?

11/17/2018 - 11:03am You left out the best part…

Punt - you left out the best part of the 2009 game - Bill Lynch angrily throwing his gum after the INT.

11/16/2018 - 5:55pm Miles needs good…

Miles needs good coordinators.  He looked good when Jimbo Fisher was his OC, and less so when it was Cam Cameron.

Instead of a cord carrier, a student manager will follow him around with a square foot of sod.

11/16/2018 - 11:21am The Spanish basketball team…

The Spanish basketball team seems to do this every Olympics.  They drop a couple of group stage games to get themselves in the opposite bracket of the U.S., which increases their chances of getting a medal.

11/16/2018 - 10:30am There’s a high school in my…

There’s a high school in my area that intentionally lost a football game so as to avoid playing a better team early in the playoffs.

Good move on their part.  They're looking at the big picture.

11/14/2018 - 10:03pm Nova had more turnovers (21)…

Nova had more turnovers (21) than made field goals (14).

11/14/2018 - 9:55pm We had those two games a…

We had those two games a couple years ago where we destroyed SMU and Marquette.  But beating the defending national champion in its own gym is tough to top.

11/14/2018 - 9:10pm Cue the Muppets!

Cue the Muppets!

11/14/2018 - 9:05pm I think Muppets are in order.

I think Muppets are in order.

They would make the night even better.

11/14/2018 - 8:49pm We could reach the Final…

We could reach the Final Four in football, basketball and hockey in the same calendar year.  Has that ever been done?

11/14/2018 - 8:38pm Yes, it should be.  More…

Yes, it should be.  More turnovers than field goals (they finished with 14) should be a rutger.

11/14/2018 - 8:36pm We've forced Nova into 21…

We've forced Nova into 21 turnovers - in their own gym!  Wow.

11/14/2018 - 8:20pm How can this be?  The expert…

How can this be?  The expert analysts in the Holy Cross game thread insisted that the season was lost already (some even went on to claim that we were just "lucky" last season).

11/13/2018 - 7:48pm So it's not even called the…

So it's not even called the Bust anymore?  I liked that name, it had a weird old-school vibe.

11/13/2018 - 6:45am I know the standard practice…

I know the standard practice is to assign a 3-point advantage for the home field.  But I definitely think it can be more valuable than just a field goal.  Take Purdue-OSU.  Is that a PU blowout win in Columbus, too?  I wouldn't think so.

11/12/2018 - 9:40pm So he defends MSU's…

So he defends MSU's academics by saying that he went to a different school instead?

11/12/2018 - 9:38pm Man.  The poor guy's feet…

Man.  The poor guy's feet keep betraying him.

Get well soon Caris.

11/12/2018 - 8:29pm So he's just not going to…

So he's just not going to cover their last couple of football games?  He's out?

11/12/2018 - 8:22pm That was 2007.

That was 2007.  In '09 they were favorites but not like that.

11/12/2018 - 4:23pm For the peanut butter cups…

For the peanut butter cups it's 18 points.  It's steep, but you do get the big one with four cups.

11/12/2018 - 3:56pm It seemed intentional to me…

It seemed intentional to me.  He was clearly beyond the marker (I don't think there was any confusion about that) and then it looked like he saw daylight to the left and tried to pivot into it, but he's just not that kind of runner.

11/12/2018 - 3:53pm Except that people were…

Except that people were obsessing about this before McCaffrey got hurt.

11/12/2018 - 3:29pm Actually, unbeknownst to…

Actually, unbeknownst to Brian, it's been reported that with 10 KFaTAofW points you can redeem them for a king size bag of Plain M&Ms.  12 gets you Peanut M&Ms.  15 for Reese's Pieces.

11/12/2018 - 3:24pm Yeah, I don't really know…

Yeah, I don't really know why people seem to be expecting Milton to be our top-secret weapon to beat Bama or something.  If he plays it's probably a single snap for a trick play.  Otherwise Shea goes the distance.

11/12/2018 - 3:19pm You have to understand, his…

You have to understand, outsidethebox's internet reputation is staked upon John Beilein being a failure of a coach for starting Zavier Simpson.  There can be no backing down from that position.  It's really, really important for him to die on that hill.

11/12/2018 - 3:17pm We shot 81% from the FT line…

We shot 81% from the FT line Saturday (17-21).  As for threes, well...

11/12/2018 - 3:07pm I'm pretty sure the U-M…

I'm pretty sure the U-M football program gets a certain number of exemptions from our normal admissions standards, which allows them to bring in some guys who barely pass the NCAA requirements.  I vaguely remember reading that RichRod lobbied for (and got, I think) a greater number than usual.  In practice I don't think our standards for athletes are too different from most schools, except for transfers where we seem to legitimately hold them to higher standards.

11/11/2018 - 8:03pm We've said that before every…

We've said that before every home game.  And then we cover by like 20.

11/11/2018 - 7:52pm So what happened to all the…

So what happened to all the OSU fans who confidently assured us that "The truth will come out and clear Zach's name ?”

Yeah, I don't think that's happening.

11/11/2018 - 1:48pm My best friend’s sister’s…

My best friend’s sister’s boyfriend’s cousin knows this guy who heard from his neighbor that the 1st guy passed out at 31 Flavors last night.  So it’s pretty serious.

11/11/2018 - 1:41pm Also, Lewerke is totally…

Also, Lewerke is totally broken and Lombardi may also be injured.

11/11/2018 - 1:40pm I’m assuming they don’t deal…

I’m assuming they don’t deal with them.  Guys get hurt a lot in this game, and many are limited to some extent by injury even if they’re out there.  Plus, sometimes you can’t tell if a player is injured or just benched.

11/11/2018 - 1:28pm That might explain Purdue’s…

That might explain Purdue’s terrible performance yesterday.  Brohm may have Durkined it.

11/11/2018 - 11:20am I get what you're saying but…

I get what you're saying but your examples don't make sense.   The Game is always at noon, even in 2018.  It's true that most big games other than OSU are later than noon, but I'm not sure why you chose the one exception to that rule.

And 3:30/4:00 are functionally the same timeslot.  (Most 3:30 games actually kick off around 3:40.)  The whole 3:30 timeslot itself is a TV invention in the first place.  Before television, games normally kicked off at 1:00 p.m.

11/11/2018 - 11:18am The one positive is that it…

The one positive is that it means the noon game usually doesn't run over and cause you to miss the beginning.
