I hope he goes first overall.  Kid gave UM 3 years of unpaid labor worth millions of dollars.

I have no idea why 247 let Hole go or why rivals hasn’t picked him up. The guy takes his job seriously and just plugs away. Very trustworthy. It feels like he just hasn’t caught a break, but when he does he will have a solid career.

Mods please delete this.  It's over the same way an ex says "I'm just so confused right now." This is making UM look ridiculous.

Heard that Sam had issues with how 247 let bucknuts shame Courtney Smith and how Steve Wiltfong more or less tweeted in support of domestic violence.  Don't blame the guy.

OP here: ya I think its 100% fake.  It's just bizarre that it popped up on a bunch of different platforms at the same time. It is coordinated.  He will not go down without an incredible fight--putting him on leave gives him time to mount things like this.  We all know who he is--everyone does.

Of course he did.  Everyone remotely connected to OSU did.  He wasn't in a position of power--I mean the police knew-- he can only do so much.

if ESPN doesn't run this I am canceling them today.

08/01/2018 - 10:54am The B1G died when it added…

The B1G died when it added Rutgers, Nebraska, and Maryland.  There is zero utility for UM to be part of it anymore.  If the Pac-12 calls it would be criminal not to look at options there.  The schools: Stanford UCB, UCLA, USC...not to mention that the present and future of the US economy is centered there.  In the last 10 years the B1G has added the three schools, endured Penn State rape scandal, endured MSU rape scandal, about to endure OSU sex scandal/whatever else that no one talks about there.  And we act like the NCAA should punish these schools--what about the effing conference we share with them? Are they completely powerless to enforce a decent image policy, like "ok MSU, you have to stop redacting every other word of these title 9 requests. You're making us all look bad." Grab NU, UW and Texas and bolt West.

08/01/2018 - 10:29am Ya, I bet some coaches…

Ya, I bet some coaches looked at OSU roster last year and said its a waste of time to over-prep/empty the playbook/break tendencies vs OSU because we will still lose anyway.  The type of team that needs to win 7 games to be successful like Purdue.  They say if we prep and circle this game vs OSU there is a 10% chance of winning vs if they do the same vs UM its a 40% chance of winning.  A win against Harbaugh grants the coach near equal utility. Everyone in the conference hates UM except for like Maryland.

08/01/2018 - 10:08am From a narrative stand point…

From a narrative stand point it changes from "can Harbaugh beat Urban?" to "its a matter of time before he over takes urban." Urban didn't stick around long after Saban got things going. 2 years? It was one of the more disgraceful exits in cfb history as well.

From a recruiting standpoint OSU misses on Browning, Wade, and possibly Okudah

UM would gain Najee, possibly a few of Isaiah Wilson, Leatherwood, Becton, maybe even browning.

and I'm guessing the momentum carries into 2018 recruiting, where OSU blew our pants off.

It's hard to imagine that 06 team shutting down UF. I know it happened in 2007, but that was Carr selling his soul to the football devil in exchange for 10 horrendous years.

The 2016 team was the best since '97

08/01/2018 - 6:31am Agreed, but it's a different…

Agreed, but it's a different world now. Recruiting isn't regional and due to the massive recruiting industry a lot of guys don't fly under the radar like they used to.  It results in the best players clustering at a few programs, and if you aren't one of them its SOL.  Also, Harbaugh is a marked man.  He will take the best game plan shots from OSU, MSU, Wisconsin, ND, and likely Nebraska this year.  There is only so much he can do week to week to prepare for teams that have had this game circled all year.  In this conference today you need the ability to execute a simple game plan for most the year and unload the book on OSU at the end.  It's the only way it will work.  A big reason why I think OSU hasn't had more B1G championships under Meyer is he has focused so much on UM.  Look at 15--he had the best team in the nation, overlooked MSU, and then crushed Michigan.  Weather and all, but he left a lot more in the bag vs MSU than he should have. Same goes for '16 PSU.

08/01/2018 - 6:13am More OSU game opinions (and…

More OSU game opinions (and you should rewatch it, will make you feel a ton better about the O-Line, besides Kugler)

1. JOK had some throws where he was dialed in and some bad throws that weren't entirely his fault. Like, what the hell is the umpire doing here at 32:10? Link.  Overall JOK lost his mind, but that umpire was an extra LB on that play--and I'm very surprised he didn't see the open receiver.  He didn't seem to be looking at the line play there. And on a 4th down conversion attempt in the 4th quarter....

2. Metellus was brutal even discounting the dropped INT. A weak link in Browns defense is the difference between no gain and a TD.

3. Evans was great, made just about every correct read.  Higdon's vision left a lot to be desired.  He gave up multiple first downs/game breaking plays due to bad cuts. UM could have rushed for 200.

3.  This might be the hardest to watch: When Watson gave up the third down to Mack he tried to tug his jersey early on. He missed his jersey and grabbed his towel.  He didn't drop the towel, he carried it in his right fist and tried to swing it at the ball as it came in.  If he drops the towel its an easy pass break up and the temporary momentum ends there. Truly sickening.  Link at 1:59:00 (not for the faint of heart)

4. On third down and medium with Haskins OSU ran pick plays to great success. If that isn't going to be called Michigan needs to play some zone. 1st time @ 29:50, 2nd time at 32:45

5. The Weber TD was a designed hold on Gary. The game again was horribly ref'd, but even then I have no idea how you don't call this: @ 35:20

6. Not only did UM out-scheme OSU in this game, they out played them.  They were the better team. The OL/ run game were churning.  The bad bounces the last two years are mind boggling.  O'Korn getting his foot stomped on, JT recovering his fumble, the towel, the ref stepping into an obvious open passing lane.  The missed PI on DPJ coupled with the bad PI call on Hudson, the brutal hold on Hurst for Haskins big run.   And to respond to an earlier reply-- while not the '16 standard, this game was poorly ref'd as well.  I mean, as a fan base we've settled for only getting screwed a couple times a game and we are ok with it.  That isn't how it should be.

Harbaugh is 2-1 against Franklin and the 2016 beating was the most brutal thing I have seen done to a P5 conference champion.

Jason PriestasSTAFF6 HOURS AGO

I'm going to clue you in on three facts:

1) Everything in our piece was first reported by Brett McMurphy earlier this morning. We mentioned that early on in the piece, linking to Brett's report.
2) We've known about the 2009 and 2015 incidents for a few years but did not feel comfortable running them because charges were dropped. It's a judgment call, but one we stuck to. It would have been easy to trot that out last week when a chunk of you were questioning our phrasing after he was cited for criminal trespass, but we didn't.
3) To talk to people at Ohio State in the football program, you have to go through the SID, Jerry Emig. We reached out to him before publishing and he declined to make a comment. We included that in our piece. After we published, he offered a new comment, and we also updated our story.

Bonus 4th fact! 2009 was nine years ago, not 15.

But sure, go ahead and keep slinging baseless accusations at us.

07/19/2018 - 1:39am How is it that every OSU…

How is it that every OSU scandal turns into an OSU guy actually being the victim?

Conley: Victim

Elliott: Victim

Smith: Victim

Schiano: Victim

Webb: Victim

He broke a restraining order and was cited for it.  These things aren't in place without reason. So far we have heard from two people, the police and Smith's lawyer.  The police say he was warned not to break the restraining order back in January and did so four months later.  His lawyer painted a story that he was only trying to return his kids and that.....he's the real victim here.

The way this story broke was bizarre.  A new user on 247 simultaneously posted a thread on bucknuts

and wolverine247:

Ohio State media likely knew about this as several posters on bucknuts knew of the incident, however the media sat on it without reporting.  Three hours after the posts linked above there was a simultaneous wave of buckeye news reports, as if a shot caller had decided, "ok, the news is out and we can't ignore this."

Anytime this guy is brought up, surprising what nice things people have to say about him.  REDDIT

"Played for is a strong term because he was the wide outs coach and I was a true freshmen d-linemen on the scout team the only year he was on staff. But he did run the scout team from time to time so i had my fair share of interactions with him

Things that he would say/do to his own position group

Plenty of Homophobic slurs, racist jokes hidden under the guise that he’s the “cool young coach”, openly bragged/joked about cheating on his pregnant wife to our star players. Went out of his way to alienate underclassmen who may have been underperforming.

For example, he made a true freshmen( who ended up getting drafted at CB) Do up downs in the end zone every indy period of a camp practice one day. Because he looked “soft” in an Oklahoma drill vs a RS sophomore. Allegedly he threw a couple footballs at him too. I didn’t see that though.(and the player wouldn’t admit to it)

I’ve seen him put his hands on two players, nothing more than a shove but he shouldn’t be doing that shit at all. And probably more that I’ve forgotten about.

Edit; i made these comments before i even read the article. Who woulda thunk that him and his wife would get a divorce?"

Imagine if this was Jay Harbaugh.

07/13/2018 - 4:10am I mean, I understand why the…

I mean, I understand why the pros get pissed in these tourney things.  Poor play is the equivalent of a kamikaze attack for those guys.  I'm sure its maddening for people to show up in your profession, who have no business being there, and just wreck your shit over dumb play and luck.  Bad players are incredibly unpredictable land mines that they have to navigate, and they kind of turn the whole thing into a circus.

07/11/2018 - 2:19pm I mean, they don't care…

I mean, they don't care. Wilson, Schiano, LJ, they are somehow smothering the wrestling scandal thing.  Everyone knows what they are, and they don't care.

This weirded me out a bit, but a quick search of family member twitter shows a heavy OSU preference...

07/06/2018 - 8:45am This seems to be picking up…

This seems to be picking up more steam and due to its political nature I doubt it dies down.

Here is Mike DiSabato talking about the situation.

What hits me is he has the same tone that Chris Spielman had when suing his alma mater about using his likeness.  They both said how shocked they were with the stonewalling OSU gave them over transparent grievances and how the university takes advantage of their athletes with little regard for them after they're no longer of use.  I mean, OSU is a master at controlling the narrative with their complicit press.  Look at the Schiano/Tennessee thing, the numerous assault scandals against women with Conley, Elliott, Webb, Hyde etc... I shudder to think about the skeletons in that closet.

07/05/2018 - 7:10pm A lot of smoke here putting…

A lot of smoke here putting UM in a good place, but I can't shake the feeling that Bama wants him bad and he would be passing up a huge amount of money if he were to come here.  However, we are getting shout-outs from a ton of 5 star guys so maybe after last years recruiting debacle our boosters have mobilized.

06/01/2018 - 11:20pm Holy s*** no one has

Holy s*** no one has mentioned Stevie wonder. Easy way to play this game— check out the cover versions and see who comes close. How often do you hear people cover Stevie wonder? Not often because people would look damn silly.

2. Freddy

3. Aretha

Pains me to leave prince off— as a musician he blows these 3 away, but his voice isn’t what made him great.

05/31/2018 - 5:07pm 1. Jim Harbaugh. If Harbaugh

1. Jim Harbaugh. If Harbaugh leaves the trajectory of the football team and the athletic department budget nosedives. There isn’t a person near his ability to replace him, including Don Brown. His 2016 team was the most talented team in a decade plus and the 2018 team should be on par. A few bounces one way or the other and he would already be considered a legend after 3 seasons and rightfully so.

2. John Beilein. The perfect coach for this university and we are blessed to have him. Last year was amazing and the program has a sky is the limit feel right now. Near Harbaugh, but if Michigan could only keep 1 coach between the two it would be Harbaugh hands down.

05/30/2018 - 12:46am Sometimes I think I have bad days

Then on days like today I see that other people have bad days too.

05/28/2018 - 2:56am Watch the Meyer interview

Watch the Meyer interview after that game. A win there breaks him.

05/27/2018 - 11:18pm 2016 changes the whole

2016 changes the whole narrative going forward. OSU loses that game they dont get every single recruit that was there and meyer's heart starts hurting again.  That game was palpatine vs mace windu.

05/23/2018 - 9:45pm Goal, but another super

Goal, but another super dangerous penalty after the goal. Refs need to get control of this game.

05/23/2018 - 9:40pm Ovechkin missed a wide open

Ovechkin missed a wide open net early on and Caps had like 10 great opportunities in the first few minutes.

....but ya since then Tampa has dominated.

05/23/2018 - 9:22pm You need scorers, but man

You need scorers, but man does oshie just stand around out there.  Kid has great hands but just a horrible skater.

05/23/2018 - 9:17pm dont see how you miss that.

dont see how you miss that.

05/23/2018 - 8:28pm Ouch--that puck to the back

Ouch--that puck to the back of the head-- brutal.  Hope he's ok.

05/02/2018 - 1:02am Best Argument for debunking

If I understand the map correctly it uses the top 400 for blue chips then uses every player the from states that make it to the NFL.

Well, there is a ton more opportunity for players in the North to play D1 football than there is for players in the South when adjusting for talent.  That gives the option for players that show potential but are 17 years old to put it together over the next 4 years.  My guess is a lot of the smaller schools up North recruit a ton more players from their local areas, giving them an opportunity to continue playing football.

I mean look at it this way:

Alabama has 7 division 1 football schools. The same amount as Connecticut.

Georgia has 7. Illinois has 12.

Louisiana has 12, same amount as Indiana.

New York has 22, Texas has 21.

Also along this same point-- the lower ranked players in georgia end up at South Georgia, Alabama A+M etc... The lower players in Michigan end up at Michigan State, Wisconsin etc... Those schools have wayyyyy more funding to develop players than Georgia Southern.  And sure, it might not be the rule, but it definitely skews that way. At the end of the day, schools are way more exposed to local talent and more likely to get offer scholarships than kids way out of state.

02/24/2018 - 4:36pm He wasnt

Cleared by NCAA. MSU presented evidence, then he was cleared. It doesn’t say NCAA cleared him. MSU made statement to sound that way. Why would anyone believe a word from anyone associated with that university? They have circled the wagons on every issue

07/31/2016 - 11:01am Brutal. Could you imagnine

Brutal. Could you imagnine what's happening at Tennessee?

07/18/2016 - 9:16pm I heard he covered up for a serial child rapist

and we all know Urban has a zero tolerance policy for that.

03/17/2016 - 3:34am I played HS hockey at Eden

I played HS hockey at Eden Prairie before everyone in Minnesota started going to the USHL.  If you are a hockey player at CC and have given up opportunites to play elsewhere, you are only cheating yourself.  Congrats on that state championship.  Good luck against EP/ other legit teams--you will get blown out.
