Agree. NCAA has essentially stated each school should make their own decision. Miller is not coaching but Ayton is playing tonight.

Absolutely agree.   Don't forget Sean Miller, the Thad Matta disciple, who gets a consistent stream of 5 stars and now we know his secret.  Book Richardson has been at Miller's side for 13 years honing his craft.

Without the title 9 investigation both Hollis and Dantonio would still be business as usual.  After all, he learned from the Senator, Tressel.

Is he just tipping Terrell Lucas commitment announcement with the TL reference?

05/25/2015 - 5:04pm VRBO Park City

I have a Condo, VRBO in Park City.  I will be there for a month so I am trying to figure out how to get my tickets...will call maybe.

05/12/2015 - 4:13pm Sheriff Joe

He'll have a few days with Sheriff Joe to straighten him out.  No place to be 2x the limit.

02/01/2015 - 3:37pm Amazing Coaching job

Beilein and his staff continue to amaze.  No moral victories and no pats on the back in the loss but this group, under sized and outmanned just simply doesn't quit.  Great effort and a magician coaching!

12/20/2014 - 2:47pm Options

We have got a couple of good 3rd option scorers in the offense...need a 1 and 2.  We're playing in a hurry, not fast.  Everyone but Walton is playing a new role and this is going to be a project.  At least we do have a coaching staff that can develop talent and put the pieces together.

This team needs a win badly!

12/18/2014 - 10:23am You're kidding right Adam

Wow.  These folks simply cannot admit when they're wrong.  Michigan basketball certainly uses ipads including the girls team.  As for the private jets, two years ago I was flying from San Jose to Phoenix after a few days at Pebble Beach.

Jim and his family were at the airport.  It was a couple of weeks after the Super Bowl.  The flight was delayed and my friends and I had a table in the bar.  We gave up our seats to Jim and his family, including the nanny (in case Schefter is worried about baby sitting not being included). Our golf group all sat in first class, Jim and his family in Coach!  I don't think private jets are a prerequisite for Jim.

As an aside, we did get to chat a little in the bar.  You've never met a more genuine, down to earth guy than Jim...and yes he did give our group a "go blue" and thanked us profusely for giving him and the kids a spot to sit.

Regardless Jim's decision, he is a quality human being who won't be swayed by the trappings. As for Schefter, his writing is pure drivel.

12/01/2014 - 1:17pm Same

Same thing I did when he was hired.  I haven't gone to a single game, haven't contributed 10 cents to the University and tell anyone who'd listen what a horrible hire he was/is.

I cannot see him surviving but then again, I couldn't see Michigan hiring him..

11/26/2014 - 1:08am Foul Line

Five free throws (all in the 2nd half) on the night, versus 29 against Oregon. Free throw differential was the difference.  Kids played their hearts out and after 5 games in 10 days, didn't have enough left to finish. These young kids are growing up and Chatman is on the verge...a few big hoops in the 2nd half turn-a-round.

Villanova returned 4 starters from a 29 win team and started all juniors and seniors. Belein will do his thing and this group will be tough too handle in 2015.

11/24/2014 - 4:46pm Personally, I hope so.  His

Personally, I hope so.  His effort or lack thereof seems more fitting of the CFL.

11/24/2014 - 4:37pm The Head coaching position

Sorry Greg.  The job is to win football games while graduating seniors.  Take the PHD salary scale if your boss cn only do half the job.

11/23/2014 - 9:00pm Financial Implications

The cost of retaining Hoke far exceed the buyout and Hackett understands the math.  He dug out a fact on graduation rates which Hoke speaks to every chance he gets as a means of stating Hoke isn't a total failure.

Hackett will fire Hoke (Hoke resigns) but leave him with his dignity in the process.

11/22/2014 - 7:19pm Outcoached

We have been outcoached by every opponent over at least the last two years.  It is so sad to watch some of these kids play their hearts out with a coaching staff so inept.

It's also disheartening to see a few key players lay down and still see the majority of snaps.  I maintain this is a talented team which is terribly coached.

Get on with the coaching search and cross your fingers that we do not have a ton of attrition.

11/22/2014 - 7:05pm Enough already

Dear Mr. Hackett

Please do the right thing and now.  I really miss Michigan football and haven't seen any in the last three years.  I do not except excuses and hopefully you don't either.

11/22/2014 - 3:16pm Decisions

Keeping Hoke will thwart recruiting this year, next year and going forward.  Keeping Hoke will end the 100,000 attendance streak and ruin the financials of the athletic department.

Hackett and the regents understand this and as a result, he'll be gone after OSU. If somehow the excuses of "a young team, new system" are accepted, this will turn into a bigger debacle than it already is!.

11/13/2014 - 5:44pm I'll do what I've done since

I'll do what I've done since Hoke was initially hired...contribute no money to the university, attend no athletic events and continue to profess my disgust for hiring this incompetent buffoon.

And yes, I did contribute and did attend football games every year since the late 60's.  I guess I was just an early "have a nice life" fan.

11/13/2014 - 5:38pm Superb

This sir, was suberb.  The world of academia which professes diversity, opportunity and deep critical thinking all too frequently, practice none. Thanks Brian, for calling it out!

11/08/2014 - 7:36pm horrific

That was among the worst performances I've ever seen.  Receivers can't catch or create separation.  The only QB consistency is bad reads and equally bad throws.  I love Devin but this is difficult to even watch and based on the stands, not all that many did.

11/03/2014 - 3:16pm Academia

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Sam and Ira were spot on with their comments.  While everyone was revelling in Schlissel's press conference and Brandon's demise, very few heard his words beyond I accepted "his resignation".

In the world of academia, code words like restore the balance, linkage to the community and I'll develop a better position on big time football mean sports are secondary at the university and must be de-emphasized.

Now I am not suggesting that Schlissel is naive enough to not understand the financial implications of sports to the university. Rather, he thinks it is a distant third to research and academics and maybe appropriately so.

We should watch carefully, how the AD selection process unfolds and to what extent Schissel imposes himself in the process and selection.  More importantly, watch the Regents and their reactions as this unfolds.

If Schlissel has indeed become a Michigan Man in 110 days, he will understand the importance of football and make the appropriate investments to secure a winning football program.  If he's simply mouthing the words, I sincerely hope the regents take the necessary steps to ensure his short tenure at Michigan.

10/31/2014 - 3:34pm Hoke

Make the announcement before the Ohio State game and under no circumstances, keep him associated with the program in any manner.  All this "nice guy" stuff hasn't delivered and he needs to go away...far, far away!

10/26/2014 - 4:16pm Tent stakes

Maybe we were erecting the tent over the circus Hoke calls Michigan football.  Do the honorable thing and fall on your tent stake Brady.

10/26/2014 - 4:06pm Circus

Put a tent over this circus!

10/25/2014 - 7:44pm Offense

A line that doesn't run block or pass protect, receivers who can't catch or gain separation and running backs who miss the hole...other than that we're right where we want to be.

Must be the scheme

10/25/2014 - 7:38pm Dreadful

Eight weeks and counting.  Hoke should have never been hired, should have been canned after the bowl game last year and now must absolutely go.  Hoke simply is incompetent...a detriment not an asset.  Go home Hoke!

10/25/2014 - 7:31pm Pull the Pin

There is no downside to shit canning Hoke right now.  The offensive line hasn't made progress in three years, our receivers gain NO separation and make no tough catches, and our QB has simply lost all confidence.

We hired a buffoon and this is the end product.

10/25/2014 - 5:16pm Offense

Well oiled machine after two weeks to prepare. Two more great weeks of practices and we may get into the red zone.

10/20/2014 - 10:51pm Careful what you wish for

The world of academia may not produce the intended outcome, especially when the leader doesn't know a football from a hockey puck.  Ross needs to bite the bullet, help Sclissel form a search committee now, or this will turn into a complete cluster.

This cannot go on into December!

10/20/2014 - 10:22pm Well Obviously

I don't know about you but I'm brimming with confidence knowing Brady feels the team "practiced hard".  Do the right thing Brady, go home and stay there!

10/18/2014 - 2:21pm headsets

I prefer Hoke not use a headset.  The less involvement he has in the game, the better the kids opportunity to win. I was simply amazed, watching a variety of  todays games,  how far we are from being even an average football team.

The sooner the pin is pulled on Hoke, the better. He has been a wonderful fan with a great vantage point for every game and has earned 4 mil a year for doing so.  Go home and pay to watch the games like the rest of us Brady.

10/05/2014 - 10:14am Appreciation

I don't know Brady Hoke personally. I cannot evaluate the content of his character or whether he is a good man or not.  I can evaluate however, the product he assembled and parades out every Saturday, and it isn't very good.

I do not care how many hours he logs during the week, or how hard he works. He is paid handsomely for those activities. The objective measure of his work is wins and losses and he is failing miserably.

What I'd appreciate most from Brady, is his resignation.  Hell, I'd even give him a nice box in an empty Michigan Stadium suite where he can continue to closely watch the games, clap and encourage players and behave like the multi million dollar fan he is.

For the love of Michigan Brady, resign and go home fergodsakes!

10/05/2014 - 12:09am Disagree

The coaches aren't getting it done.  I am not defending Brandon but Hoke is a joke.

10/05/2014 - 12:01am Product of the atmosphere

This is the same culture as the Lloyd country club days.  These kids deserve so much better and they need it now.  Interim AD John Belein and Interim head coach Nuss...let's get on with it.

10/04/2014 - 11:57pm Regression

Coaches recruit and develop talent.  I am not sure what this is?  Unlike anything I've ever seen.

09/27/2014 - 11:06pm Hoke Has

3.5 million reasons to hang on.  Since Brandon didn't do the Kiffin, maybe the Board will do a two fer with Brandon on Monday.  These kids sure deserve better than having an absolute buffoon at the helm.

Make Belien the interim AD and a hot rock the interim fb coach.

09/27/2014 - 7:23pm Dreadful

Didn't even get a trainer to the kid the first few times he he got hurt.  Hoke cannot even organize or control the sideline...How long do we have to listen or watch this total incompetence which now has spilled over to player safety.

If Brandon doesn't have the stones to pull the pin on Hoke, I beg he turns in his whistle tonight.

09/27/2014 - 7:13pm Cluster

I have never seen anything like this in 50 years.  Where are all the Michigan Men clamoring to defend this cluster.  There isn't one phase of the game which resembles anything close to the caliber of talent on this team.

We need the Lane Kiffin treatment...pull the pin now!

09/27/2014 - 3:05pm Hoke

Enough chances.  We hired a mediocre coach and he has performed to expectation.  Every week the guy is terribly outcoached and these kids deserve better.  Time for some accountability starting with the head coach.

09/20/2014 - 7:31pm Regression

Our student athletes deserve so much better than they're getting.  If we're having great weeks of preparation, what on earth is the staff preparing them for?  We have clearly been outcoached in every game we've played in the last two years and it is getting worse daily.

For the love of Michigan Brady, GO HOME!

09/10/2014 - 2:22pm Student Athletes

I agree with Hoke on one thing...don't blame the kids.  They deserve better coaching and it is high time Brady comes to grips with the fact he doesn't have it.  We don't need tinkering, we need an overhaul.

09/08/2014 - 1:40pm True Fan

I always support Michigan's student athletes.  It's the guy that earns 3.5 mil for putting a mediocre product on the field I do not support.

09/07/2014 - 1:39pm Everyone asks how Hoke can

Everyone asks how Hoke can turn this around?  I suggest to you he already has.  From 11-2 and a Sugar Bowl win with RR's team, to 7-6 in 2013, the record is who we are.  Hoke was sub .500 when hired and he is returning the Michigan Program to those depths.

03/16/2014 - 5:58pm No team winning the Big 10

No team winning the Big 10 tournament has ever made it to the Final Four.  So we have that!

12/29/2013 - 8:58am 4 mil a year and I'd love the

4 mil a year and I'd love the tradition and values too!  Brady, if you love these kids and the university like you say you do, resign!
