Brian Kelly and his replacement will be Bob Stoops.
Barry Odom at Missouri is in over his head.
Herm Edwards won’t finish the season and he won’t be fired - probably just wander into the desert and never come back.
|07/15/2018 - 9:54am||So a 5* picks a program with…||
So a 5* picks a program with a coach who has 1 player drafted in his HC career - an inherited player who was B1G POY but drafted 2nd are at 48th. Recruit claims a desire to win NC for a coach with 1 trip to the Sweet Sixteen.
He turns down a coach with 10 players drafted better than 48th and 8 1st Rd picks, plus 6 trips to the Sweet Sixteen and 2 NC games. He also elevated a 3* PG who was 6’ to National POY and 9th pick in the draft.
“Gut feeling” is clearly a substitute for “best choice”. On the upside, this opens a spot for Rocket or a better shooter than Carton.

Shenanigans. Welcome to top tier basketball recruiting.
The AAU world and “perks” for these recruits are a cut throat environment. Beilein just won’t get entangled in that environment and UM has little chance without the perks.
It’s ironic that UM recruiting will probably rise once he retires even though he is a fantastic developer of talent.
|07/14/2018 - 4:13pm||Don’t be baffled - the…||
Don’t be baffled - the reason for Beilein’s struggles to recruit the top 50 is obvious and already recognized by his peers. Is this the sole reason or the deciding factor in this case? Unknown.
UM just has to keep building a track record of great player development so the short-term “sacrifice” by players/AAU coaches/parents is clearly less than the long-term gains.

Nope, have to cut off the B1G money train.
They would gladly play a bunch of MAC or FCS teams to register some wins, but they need the $ to keep their AD even close to viable.

Awesome. Great 2019 class of RBs with Gray and Charbonnet.

Start recruiting 2020 - just a couple guys on board so far and a QB (Harrison Bailey, please) would get things really rolling. Put together a strong season to grab a couple late stars for 2019 and real momentum for 2020.
|06/25/2018 - 3:42pm||Awesome. DJ has upside as a…||
Awesome. DJ has upside as a safety with good angles, ranges well, and high points the ball. Plays big time ball in GA so he’ll adapt quickly. Just needs some weight/strength, which is a win-win as we don’t wamt a true frosh at safety.
Congrats to DJ. Go Blue.

Boom. That’s a key piece to add to the board. Congrats to Mazi. He will get great development with Mattison and Herbert.

Awesome news. He should be a great fit as a JH running back - versatile, fast, physical.
|06/24/2018 - 6:38pm||What’s even more painful is…||
What’s even more painful is the # of close losses. Yes, Minnesota was close. But FSU, MSU and Iowa were all decided in the final minute or two just like MSU 15, OSU 16, OSU 17 and SC 18.
The program is close to reclaiming the winning culture that evaporated by the end of RR/Hoke. It’s not there yet. I think Shea’s arrival is crucial in two ways - playmaking skill and attitude. The youth and bad luck last year obviously sapped the confidence by the bowl game. Believing they can win close games and then actually doing it will raise the program to the next tier.

Awesome - he looks physically ready now and he tracks the ball so well. West Coast guys are a tough pull but always a chance once he visits.

It’s borders on neurosis when it becomes an obsession like his perpetual posts. Someone commented that he is Shawn Martin on Twitter who repeatedly berates Dudek and others about recruiting - that dude needs some help.
What is truly bizarre is the motivation for the behavior. Is he trying to persuade UM fans to turn against JH? Does he want misdirected attention because he lacks personal achievement to get attention otherwise?
|06/24/2018 - 2:55pm||Bryant (3 Star) just pushed…||
Bryant (3 Star) just pushed Johnson (5 Star) to transfer and Trevor is behind Bryant largely because Bryant is a true dual threat with a willingness to run between the tackles 10x per game. Plus, Bryant seems underrated with his size, athleticism and arm as the #420 recruit - probably attributable to small town SC football. He is a good fit in their current scheme.
Net, I agree that fit is very important and Trevor’s skills will require some changes to their scheme.
|06/24/2018 - 12:40pm||Congrats to Erick. Harbaugh…||
Congrats to Erick. Harbaugh knows how to develop rangy kids into TEs and he joins a very talented group. Give him a year or two to add weight/strength and he should be a solid contributor.

I think Turner already specified 6/25 as his commitment date - which likely means UM since it follows so shortly after this official and other positive signs.
I think someone else will commit today.

Sorry for being way behind the news cycle today ... but this shitshow just wont end as long as their admin has people devoted to a quick solution rather than leadership committed to resolution. Engler is a buffoon and the BoT are worse.
MSU alum should be enraged by this point, but sadly no. I cannot imagine the outrage and embarrassment for every UM alum with one of these incidents, let alone weekly stupidity.

If he is a PWO, then it’s a sound move to add B1G experience at low cost. Supposedly a good teammate so he can mentor Dylan and Joe even if he doesn’t win the job at any point.
If he holds a scholarship, then it seems shaky.

Well done. Evans could have a big year with some OL improvement and Shea to keep the D honest.

Fully support actual recruiting news and even OT recruiting news.
This post, though, is simply a pessimistic diatribe about the overall state of UM recruiting with the excuse of one crystal ball for the #252 recruit. The mods need to snuff out this type of BS.

No surprise, but disappointed to lose two guys with lots of physical skills. Their PT seemed like a challenge with the depth at WR and RB so hopefully they find PT and success elsewhere.
|06/02/2018 - 9:34pm||Could be a UGA season||
with a good QB and a great defense. Also should have outstanding STs with Anthony, Singleton, Woods, FurbushSt Juste, Thomas, Paye and other 2nd string athletes who can run.
With some life from the O and scoring at key points, this will be a great year.
|06/02/2018 - 11:12am||Dunmore seems like a JH type||
of player with the back half of his tape as a QB and some cockiness. McElwain hooked him at UF - suspect that is helping for UM now. Still, FSU seems the most likely landing spot.
What other WR targets are really in the mix for UM? Seems like WR would be a high priority in this class with only Bell in 2018 (who will require a lot of weight/development to be ready by 2019) and Black/DPJ possiblly early NFL entrants.
|05/31/2018 - 8:37pm||Head says 9-3 and||
fandom says 11-1 so I’ll settle at 10-2. Really believe this could be a great defense and an explosive offense (if not dependable). Need a few bounces and playing well at the right time to break through.

Shea > Speight
|05/27/2018 - 6:10pm||Jaden is worth the likely one year||
DJ, Jaden and Jalen would be a fantastic class. I don’t expect any one-and-done from the 2018 class (even Iggy seems like 2 maybe 3 years) so the squad would be extremely loaded for 2019-20 season.
I agree with your assessment - Jaden has incredible upside.
|05/26/2018 - 11:34pm||FBI probe has not hurt us||
The blue bloods appear unscathed at this point. Perhaps the neutering of Louisville and Arizona is helping UM, but the recruiting by the two key assistants has really raised UM’s profile. They are both strong recruiters.
It only takes a little luck in bball recruiting with 1-2 recruits to change the entire class, so maybe it’s luck. Still, I give Beilein credit for the good luck.
|05/26/2018 - 9:28pm||Bluey will be silent re Beilein||
if Wilson and Carton pick UM. If there is room for McDaniels and he picks UM, that would be a great class.
Yaklich and Washington have significantly boosted recruiting. Have to give Beilein all the credit for hiring them, 2 or 3 top 30 recruits will raise the national perspective of UM.

|05/25/2018 - 8:43pm||So several blue blood programs and||
top public universities have offered him — and he includes MSU in his considerationlist but not UM.
OSU, USC, Georgia and Clemson are all really good football choices. Good luck to him.
|05/25/2018 - 7:44pm||He has high upside||
As a safety. DB can turn a 6’2” safety with good cover skillls into a key part of the D.
It also should not be discounted how these types of athletes can contribute to special teams.
Yeah, a 3* has high upside after a year or so in the system.
|05/25/2018 - 5:57pm||Clemson has prioritized him||
I’ll trust Dabo and JH on the 3* or low 4* recruits any day.

|05/20/2018 - 6:22pm||An impressive record and||
clearly a Michigan thread - where posters cannot celebrate outstanding contributions by some college athletes because national titles are supposedly a standard of achievement.
Well done by this group of UM athletes. Go Blue.
|05/19/2018 - 7:03pm||Except JH prepares players||
for the NFL better than Dantonio. And obviously so does Beilein for the NBA ...

|05/18/2018 - 2:59pm||I would have gladly settled||
for the 4* John Embry Jr . . .
|05/14/2018 - 8:15pm||We can only hope||
Trade labor shortages are a huge governor on our national economy and far too many college “students” would be better off to pursue technical professions. We are pushing kids to college and debt for menial jobs when many of them could have a trade skill and $80-100k job by 20 yrs old.
That perspective comes from a huge proponent (me) of liberal arts education to improve the quality of life and citizenship for the common man. However, we simply need to find ways to provide broad education in addition to technical skills. There is honor and value in young guys and women who want to run their own business and learn a trade like plumbing.
