As far as OT recruiting:

Filiaga and Becton are still on the board and are the ones the coaching staff has had the most contact with.  There's also Torquye(sp?) Bateman from AL if he has his academic house in order.  Plus who knopws if there are any late bloomers out there that the staff can get in on, I have a feeling there's a lot of OL film thats being reviewed right now.

From what I recall of the Wilson scouting reports he sounds as if he was pretty raw, so it may not have been an instant solve kind of thing like we need for next year.

Agree that it's a good idea not to disparage the kid or chase wild conspiracy rumors, there were several reports that he wanted to play in the SEC, Georgia is a good school, with a good program that has a lot to offer and he had a great visit that changed his mind, these things happen and will continue to happen.  I don't see this as being a Treadwell situation at all(alkthoguh I never understood the optimism around him, the tea leaves were always there).

Or maybe this is all part of the plan. DPJ's recruitment saw late rumors that it was between OSU and FSU, which made it seem like a big win over those schools even though most thought he was going to Michigan the whole time. What if Harbaugh decided to take it a step further, in retaliation for Kirby opening his mouth last offseason, and they planned out a Wilson commitment to Geaorgia now, so that we can completely crush their dreams and leave them scrambling with a NSD filp?

We can dream, right?

To be fair, it's a tad differentl. With Partridge and Bush, you're talking the coaches at two of the better football programs in the country in areas with high talent. The simple connections that they have to not only their respective high schools, but their home states is very beneficial. Partridge can go to NJ and recruit well because he knows the area, knows the high school coaches, and in some cases he knows the players. Same with Bush. And again, you're talking two of the better high school coaches in the country. They can contribute on this staff schematically as well. In this situation, Georgia is hiring coaches from a prep school in NYC. You're talking a 5-3 prep school in an area where recruiting prospects are slim pickings. This is a move for Wilson and that's it. There's really no other benefit.

Youre judging that before the class is finished. We lead for Ruiz (connections to both Florida and New Jersey), Singleton (plays for Paramus, where Partridge coached), and Jordan Anthony (Florida kid). We also have Herbert committed. The OL from Florida. So congrats on your comment being completely off base.

the UG hires with a complete understanding of how they will impact Georgia's recruiting in the future. Man, your omniscience is truly amazing. How you know that those guys will just be bumps on the log for the Bulldogs, that is some advanced stuff right there.

As far as Ruiz and Singleton, since you bring them up. It was rumored that Ruiz was headed to Bama until the Tide had no more room for him and Singleton was a heavy Clemson lean before they backed off recruiting him. If positioning yourself to be someone's Plan B is considered good recruiting, then so be it.

As for Jordan, he preps at IMG but is from Maryland so that makes him as much of a Florida kid as Kahlee Hamler.

Nice try though.

the coaching hire before you even know who it is.  Maybe it is a really good coach.

But more importantly, three of the top five 2017 NY recruits are from Brooklyn, and the top 2018 NY recruit is from Brooklyn and two of the top 5.  It doesn't really matter that the state isn't deep like FL (just like it didn't matter that NJ isn't a deep talent state when we hired Partridge).  If this guy can help you monopolize the top guys out of the NYC area and you like the top guys in the next couple years, it's not necessarily a bad hire or a one guy hire.  It might be, I'm just saying, there's some more context you might not be considering.

That, and I think Harbaugh's moves benefit Michigan in more than just recruiting. Partridge seems to be doing pretty well coaching linebackers and special teams afterall. Bush also won state titles in Florida, and let's not forget how instrumental Momma Gwen has been either. I just don't see how a coach at a 5-3 prep school in NYC is going be helpful to a major D1 team.

Sort of like how Partridge got a job right after Peppers comitted and right before Gary did? Or bush got a job after his kid commited? Rocks and glass houses and all that.  Wilson liked what Georgia had to offer better. It happens and it sucks.

He got a job long after Peppers committed to (and played for) a different staff. He was first hired by Rutgers. That job fell through and in the meantime one of Harbaugh's former players had replaced him at Paramus Catholic.

Was Partirdge hired as a recruiter? Sure. Was there some sort of quid pro quo? That's ridiculous.

He was an unemployed former coach. Maybe you don't see the distinction, but it's pretty significant. People are saying UGA will hire coaches from Poly if Wilson comes. We hired Partridge hoping it would help eventually land Gary. He's helping us with Singleton too. There's no quid pro quo. Partridge would have had more influence if he stayed at Paramus. Gary was certainly free to choose Clemson. Apparently he gave them serious consideration even though Partridge had been here for a whole season.

Objectively, Partridge has been a very good hire outside of any connection to Gary. Maybe it's fair to give Harbaugh credit for recognizing that in advance.

Saban oversigns, Jimmy has the firm handshake

Saban is a snake and pulls scholarships at the last minute, Jimmy is committed to meritocracy until signing day--causalities may ensue

SEC hires high school coaches to land their players, Jimmy hires high school coaches only after a thorough vetting process without ever knowing that their son is a highly ranked prospect.

For heaven sake. Are you blind man!?!?!?! Can you not see the difference?

I'm not saying Georgia has nothing to offer.  In the last decade, obviously they've had more football success overall than Michigan.  But assuming Isaiah did his due diligence on both staffs and understands that to a large extent, a school's previous track record has little correlation with future success when a game-changing coaching hire is made, you can't tell me there's any ambiguity in the decision between the two schools based on the factors I named:

1. Coaching - Harbaugh and Drevno vs Smart and Jim Chaney.  Clear win on the HC and there's plenty of evidence on the quality of Harbaugh's staff top-to-bottom.  Just look at the threads on the subsequent success of Harbaugh's Stanford staff.  Plus Harbaugh is an offensive coach vs Smart who is defensive.  Drevno has always been a line coach including at the pro level while Chaney's background is primarily focused on the QB position.

2. Pro-level development - In addition to all the players who Harbaugh has turned around at Michigan at various offensive positions (AJ Williams, Kalis, Khalid Hill, Speight), he and Drevno staff turned two three-stars (Martin and DeCastro) into high draft picks.  Plus the turnaround at SF where multiple linemen made the Pro Bowl in their first year there.

3. Winning - compare this year's records and projections under Harbaugh vs Smart

4. Academics - top 5 public school (at least) vs top 20
