Seems like the hires of the last two days have recruiting focuses in the northeast. I'd like to see this next hire be someone who can replace Coach Washington's inroads in Ohio.

Somone I know with a name at the end of the alphabet got one

12/11/2018 - 7:56pm Usually. This letter was…

Usually. This letter was ultra confusing. Not sure if it meant they were pushing back the EA deadline or just setting up the alums with kids who applied for deferral process. It’s very unclear and considering the amount of stress right now knowing the usual notice date is about two weeks away, kind of badly timed. I would have waited until the day that they send out the EA notices or sent something a little more clear.

12/11/2018 - 7:48pm it usually is by Christmas…

it usually is by Christmas which is what this year’s applicants were told but what the OP is referring to is a bizarre email that was sent only (pursuant to the language of the email) to alums (not the kids) who had kids applying for Early Action this cycle. It was an extremely poorly worded letter that when I saw it made me think it was somehow softening the blow of an impending rejection. That said, nobody gets rejected in Early Action. It’s really poorly timed and poorly worded. My kid isn’t applying. I just know people who got this email and sent it to me to decipher. I do work with the Alumni Student Recruiter corps and I’ve never heard of this letter. It must be new.

No, but the last several years a few players or coaches show up. Not a team activity so to speak.

11/16/2018 - 5:35pm Just got the text back -…

Just got the text back - Gravewalk is this coming Tuesday (Nov 20th) at 6pm.  Meet at the Fountain in Ingalls Mall next to the Bell Tower for the walk to Forest Hill Cemetary across from Stockwell Hall.

Flowers or other mementos to leave at the graves are always appropriate and I'd strongly recommend a flashlight.

11/16/2018 - 5:11pm Its usually 7pm the Tuesday…

Its usually at night the Tuesday before The Game and you meet at the Fountain by the Bell Tower. I just sent a text to the people who usually organize and I'll post in this thread to see if that's the deal this year.

If you're interested I'd definitely block out Tuesday night though. Can't imagine they'll change it.

10/11/2018 - 3:56pm I've been wondering why…

I've been wondering why Winovich and Bush aren't appearing in the umpteen million mock drafts? Are they too small or don't project exactly into a pro defense?

10/06/2018 - 12:10pm Is the Stadium open yet?

When you say "our" are you saying MGoBlog or Michigan?

09/27/2018 - 10:32am Kind of horrible in the way…

Kind of horrible in the way that the Stanford tree is. I like that company.

08/09/2018 - 11:54am Detroiters is a great show…

If you didn't click the link, Jim Harbaugh is going to be in tonight's episode.

Detroiters is a great show. I do wonder what people who aren't from or didn't ever live in the Detroit area think of it? Lot of inside jokes and local characters.

07/02/2018 - 3:28pm Not to thread jack but there…

Not to thread jack but there is also some online chatter about Steve Lorenz post indicating we lead for a 5star that isn't Harrison. Anyone have any idea who?

05/23/2018 - 1:32pm no hoops?

I liked it better when we had both the basketball and hockey teams involved.

03/09/2018 - 3:26pm Two points

a) The Ice Cube is owned by the City and not the University which means the program would have to pay for ice time. Not ideal

b) Think about the times for both of those. Open skate was middle of the day while the players are usually in class. UM sports teams practice around mid afternoon and go to classes until about 2pm when in season. If I remember correctly open skate is Noon to 1pm and when we did Broomball it was CRAZY late at night (pretty sure I had a game start at 11pm once).

03/09/2018 - 2:31pm List of reasons

1) EXPENSIVE AS F#&K - It costs a ton to field an ice hockey. Its truly prohibitive in that regard.

2) RED - I love Red Berenson. My favorite coach at Michigan ever regardless of sport. That said it was well known that he didn't want to create more competition for ice time and resources for the Men's team.

02/18/2018 - 9:33pm This helps

This helps Pairwise ranking significantly correct. Particularly the road win. Where does this put us?

02/01/2018 - 1:13pm Heard this too

Apparently this is in lieu of a dedicated WR coach. Been in the works for a couple of weeks.

01/30/2018 - 9:48am Absolutely no justice

The Atty Gen Bill Schuette should be ashamed. How the hell do you appoint a special investigator who has Spartan skeletons in his closet. Attorney friends of mine said Schuette is a real piece of garbage but this is really embarrassing.

The article said the Spartan booster who paid for the investigators retirement party from his old job had this to say about the Nassar situation:

“Secchia came under fire last week when he suggested in an interview that Nassar's victims' parents should take some of the blame for the abuse suffered by their daughters, questioning whether some were more interested in winning medals than raising concerns about Nassar.
Secchia also told WZZM-TV in Grand Rapids: "I would say to (parents) that if you don't feel comfortable with your children at Michigan State, take them somewhere else because we've got a long list of people that want to go to Michigan State and there are some wonderful people left."

01/10/2018 - 4:37pm Is this if

Is this if we lose Partridge?

Elston is a defensive coach at Notre Dame. Thought the D staff was pretty set

01/05/2018 - 8:17pm Are the

Are the guys who played in the World Junior tournament back yet?

12/20/2017 - 5:19pm You have a few months. The

You have a few months. The last two years the kids I know who applied didn’t hear from Ross until March

12/20/2017 - 4:25pm A very large percentage

A very very large percentage of applicants apply Early now. I think it’s like 85%/90% of the applicant pool applies Early Decision

12/18/2017 - 2:43pm .....

Image result for clubber lang pain

Sorry.......had to...........what's a call for predictions on the MGoBoard without a Clubber Lang reference.

12/16/2017 - 6:19pm One of the WLW

One of the WLW coaches is a Michigan grad and former manager under Gary Moeller

12/15/2017 - 3:34pm Just Engineering

and I think the arts programs

12/15/2017 - 3:33pm Also true

Depending on the year typically 50-70% of the class gets in in December. There are still spots available. I think it'll be towards the lower of those numbers this year.

12/15/2017 - 3:31pm I back this

If you get deferred you have about until the third week of January to submit new info including fall grades. They won't tell you this but if you have an extra recommendation, I'd send it. I'd also send a letter stating your interest. You would be surprised but if it comes down to making a decision between two applicants and one clearly states they want in, they take into consideration.

12/15/2017 - 3:29pm That will be your earliest notification

It will go up on Wolverine Access way before anything else. Its a good idea to keep your eyes peeled there.

12/15/2017 - 3:28pm I do Alumni Student Recruiting

I do Alumni Student Recruiting for the Admissions Office. There isn't an exact date but I can tell you that for the last five years they've sent out early decision notification about a week before Christmas. Since the Common App came on the scene I believe the earliest I've seen it was the 15th and latest was 21st/22nd.

12/07/2017 - 4:31pm From NAHL website
"The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights of the North American Hockey League (NAHL), are pleased to announce that forward Jack Olmstead has committed to play NCAA Division I hockey for the University of Michigan.
Olmstead, 19, is Wilkes-Barre/Scranton's leading scorer through 25 games, helping the team to a 16-6-3 start.
The 5’10/170 lbs native of Troy, Michigan, has taken the NAHL by storm in 2017-18. Olmstead’s 13 goals and 12 assists in 23 games leads his team in points and is second-most among all NAHL rookies. His +13 is the fifth-highest total in the league, while his 1.09 points per game ranks eighth among players who have played in at least 10 games."
12/06/2017 - 4:28pm Other way around

Zordich does safeties, Smith does CB's

12/06/2017 - 4:19pm Sort of amazed after 4 posts

Sort of amazed after 4 posts that the inevitable "Charles Woodson for defensive backs coach" hasn't started.

.........and no, there is absolutely positively no way.

12/03/2017 - 9:53am They aren’t

OSU isn’t really Recruiting the straight drop back type are they?

11/30/2017 - 12:52pm This is true, plus...

Per the comment about potentially grabbing their players....most of these guys probably went to Ole Miss because of bagmen. Logic would state that the same would be true regarding wherever they choose to transfer.

11/27/2017 - 7:32am Milton

I could see Milton switching positions.

The 2019 QB will be an important pull. They need to land someone big there

11/26/2017 - 6:14pm Malzone

Malzone is a redshirt sophomore.

11/15/2017 - 7:33pm Tuesday 6pm at Bell Tower

That’s correct. I’m in touch with the guy who runs it and usually a participant. and Its the Tuesday before OSU game. Meet at 6 pm at Bell Tower.

11/13/2017 - 2:28pm MSU has jumped

MSU has jumped recently. They used to be second to last and in the 100's but they've made some gains the last couple of years.
