|05/23/2018 - 1:32pm||no hoops?||
I liked it better when we had both the basketball and hockey teams involved.
|03/09/2018 - 3:26pm||Two points||
a) The Ice Cube is owned by the City and not the University which means the program would have to pay for ice time. Not ideal
b) Think about the times for both of those. Open skate was middle of the day while the players are usually in class. UM sports teams practice around mid afternoon and go to classes until about 2pm when in season. If I remember correctly open skate is Noon to 1pm and when we did Broomball it was CRAZY late at night (pretty sure I had a game start at 11pm once).
|03/09/2018 - 2:31pm||List of reasons||
1) EXPENSIVE AS F#&K - It costs a ton to field an ice hockey. Its truly prohibitive in that regard.
2) RED - I love Red Berenson. My favorite coach at Michigan ever regardless of sport. That said it was well known that he didn't want to create more competition for ice time and resources for the Men's team.

|01/30/2018 - 9:48am||Absolutely no justice||
The Atty Gen Bill Schuette should be ashamed. How the hell do you appoint a special investigator who has Spartan skeletons in his closet. Attorney friends of mine said Schuette is a real piece of garbage but this is really embarrassing.
The article said the Spartan booster who paid for the investigators retirement party from his old job had this to say about the Nassar situation:
“Secchia came under fire last week when he suggested in an interview that Nassar's victims' parents should take some of the blame for the abuse suffered by their daughters, questioning whether some were more interested in winning medals than raising concerns about Nassar.

Depending on the year typically 50-70% of the class gets in in December. There are still spots available. I think it'll be towards the lower of those numbers this year.
|12/15/2017 - 3:31pm||I back this||
If you get deferred you have about until the third week of January to submit new info including fall grades. They won't tell you this but if you have an extra recommendation, I'd send it. I'd also send a letter stating your interest. You would be surprised but if it comes down to making a decision between two applicants and one clearly states they want in, they take into consideration.
|12/15/2017 - 3:29pm||That will be your earliest notification||
It will go up on Wolverine Access way before anything else. Its a good idea to keep your eyes peeled there.

I do Alumni Student Recruiting for the Admissions Office. There isn't an exact date but I can tell you that for the last five years they've sent out early decision notification about a week before Christmas. Since the Common App came on the scene I believe the earliest I've seen it was the 15th and latest was 21st/22nd.

OSU isn’t really Recruiting the straight drop back type are they?
|11/30/2017 - 12:52pm||This is true, plus...||
Per the comment about potentially grabbing their players....most of these guys probably went to Ole Miss because of bagmen. Logic would state that the same would be true regarding wherever they choose to transfer.

He's a student at another college correct?
|11/06/2017 - 5:48pm||Hardly a bagman situation||
Some desperate autograph hawker literally stalked these guys around the Alabama campus and paid them a couple hundred bucks so he could turn around and hawk that stuff on ebay.
The bigger story on SI.com was that said hawker later realized the profit margin on doing said stalking wasn't high so he started up a multi-million dollar fake memorabilia ring on ebay and got busted.
All in all, Alabama's culpability on this is very very minimal and I wouldn't classify this as anything near the proverbial "Bagman" concept of shady alums/boosters stuffing cash into the pockets of recruits, parents, coaches etc. This was just a desperate dork trying to get stuff to sell on ebay.
|11/02/2017 - 4:51pm||You're off.||
5,000 to 7,500 people show up in a crappy neighborhood for fourth division NPSL soccer at Detroit City FC for every game. The players are basically all college kids or recent grads. I think that the quality of play will be able to drive significantly more. There is a big soccer culture among the millenials and among parents with young kids. It will do fine if they find a way to embrace those constituent communities properly. Conversely, the atmosphere of the game seems like it would take a hit being both indoors and in a large NFL stadium.
They also have to keep ticket prices reasonable.
|11/02/2017 - 4:47pm||THIS||
No way MLS turns down having Ford associated with it.
|11/02/2017 - 4:27pm||SO many issues||
Issues both ways:
1) PRO : This pretty much locks up the bid. No way MLS is going to turn down a bid that has the combined strength of Gores/Gilbert and now the Fords behind it.
2) CON: Indoor soccer kind of sucks. Plus, stadium is too big and not really meant for soccer. The stadium will be half empty most games and that really drags down atmosphere.
A lot of the new soccer only stadiums seem to build in some add ons that are soccer specific, particularly for the supporter sections like capo stations etc.
Further......then what the hell did Gilbert just do this deal for the FailJail site in Detroit for. He sold the deal to buy the land next to his casino on the notion that he would put up a soccer stadium. Now, less than a month later after the deal is either done or on its way to done, they say they're not and are going to play at Ford Field?!? This seems shady.
I'm a big soccer fan. I was already leery of the MLS deal without DCFC though I liked the soccer only stadium idea. This seems to be going further south.
|10/13/2017 - 11:46am||So who's next up||
Any early predictions on who both the interim and long term coach will be?
Do you think they'll give Tab Ramos the lame duck period to try to prove himself?
|10/06/2017 - 12:35pm||From the Weather Channel||
These are hourly forecasts starting at 7pm tomorrow night. That 10pm forecast is not looking good.
Further.....if thunder/lightning does in fact come, they have to stop the game for 30 minutes right. If I remember correctly they actually cleared the stadium for that Utah game a few years ago. What a frigging debacle that would be late in the game, especially if its close.

Here ya go:
|10/02/2017 - 2:02pm||Really??||
Was Dave watching MSU's offense last week? Our offense may be a question mark BUT at the very least our defense and special teams are going to give us some short fields to work with that should result, at the least, in field goals. If State's offense played like they did against Iowa and Notre Dame, I don't see them putting that many points on us.

|09/28/2017 - 10:35pm||Question||
How many spots do we have in this class? We have 4 commits already. There is room for another?
|09/28/2017 - 5:51pm||I've seen this before||
No the line of cars goes down Stadium St. waiting to get it.
|09/28/2017 - 5:50pm||I dunno man||
Those are usually the rowdier parking areas and I'm sure the owners were nervous in the first place about the night game and the amount of drinking that goes on. Add in the stresses of a rivalry game and that becomes a hot spot for trouble. If I'm the owner of those places, I'm doing everything I can to minimize the possiblity of trouble. If everyone in the lot has a game ticket, it cuts down on the number of people in the lot during the game.
|09/28/2017 - 4:21pm||Though you joke.||
Though you joke, it made me think about trying to explain to the powers that be at the University why it would be ok to auction off a jockstrap. Used or otherwise.
|09/26/2017 - 10:38am||Louisville again?!?!?||
Louisville again???? Aren't they currently on probation for the hooker thing? Does this mean the squeeky hammer gets put aside and they might actually get the Death Penalty?
EDIT: (From and article): In one instance, Gatto and the other defendants reportedly funneled $100,000 to the family of a high school basketball player to convince the player to sign with a "public research university" in Kentucky. The complaint doesn't name the university. Based on details provided, it is likely the University of Louisville, which signed a $160 million sponsorship deal with Adidas in August.

I wonder how much (if at all) the Feds have told the NCAA.
I could totally see this being the first the NCAA heard of any of this. Regardless, I sense the great squeeky toy hammer of the NCAA preparing to swing.

Looks like he used to be an NBA Ref but you're right, he's the one who got into an altercation with Dominique Wilkins a while back.

Does anyone recognize those names. One says U.S. v. Chuck Person.....didn't he used to play for the Indiana Pacers and now coaches at Auburn?
EDIT/UPDATE: That's the guy. Some of the other names ring a bell too. James Gatto is probably Jim Gatto is a big figure NYC HS basketball circles. Lamont Evans is an assistant coach at Oklahoma State.

JOK sort of has a Joker vibe about him. The cast off (from Houston) being set loose on Purdue to wreak havoc.
