Great finish. Wisconsin is a good squad. I think UM, MSU, Purdue, Wisconsin are the 4 best in conference, Iowa and Maryland next in line.

Iggy just needs to not see Wisconsin again. Not good In 2 games. Nice to see a W with Poole and Iggy being pretty bad.

It’s PARAMOUNT that JB starts getting Matthews going with pick and rolls and post-ups early in games for his confidence . Truly never seen a player with such a big gap between how good and bad he can be. Lots of him is mental. Needs to gain confidence, once he does in a game, he can be a difference maker.

So as a staff need to try and play on that confidence. Get him a few early postups. See what he can do. Like Poole’s missed 3’s, you can live with it because he can shoot and it’s solid offense. Same with Matthews mid range game, and post turn arounds. Solid look, hope they fall. I love that a million times better than him chucking 3’s.

Don’t love that the team went 0-10 from 3 in the 2nd half, Iggy struggled all game, and Poole couldn’t make a shot to save his life in the 2nd half, but the team showed great grit and not enough can be said about how Teske and Matthews played in the 2nd half on both ends. Both were perfect from 2 in the 2nd half.

It pains you to watch this 22-2 team win? That was a terrific basketball game.

This isn't a great shooting team. If you can accept that it's really easy to find lots of things to enjoy about the way they play.

This Michigan team does everything right except shoot the ball consistently. They're unselfish, smart, they protect the ball, they play ferocious defense and they're tough as nails in crunch time.

I love watching this team, inconsistent shooting and all.

That was a great game, and a magnificent finish.

Terrific killer instinct by the guys, especially Charles!

Revenge is sweet!

I'm surprised Teske isn't getting talk as an NBA prospect. He checks a lot of boxes, and seems like a late first to early 2nd rounder to me. Hard to believe we get to have him and Z for another year.

LOL what?

Are you one of those "I hate the NBA" people? Because it doesn't seem like you follow it.

Teske doesn't really fit today's NBA game. He's not athletic enough. He's a solid defender because he's tall, but it's not like he's Rudy Gobert back there.

VERY solid college player, I'm not saying he won't play in the NBA...but please tell me what the Zeller's and Plumlee's are doing and if anyone is drafting someone in the 1st round to do what they do. Frank Zamanski...what's he doing? Riding the bench is what.

Again, he can play in the league...but you don't leave after your sophomore year to pile up DNPs.

Also, 2nd round picks don't have guaranteed contracts in the NBA...you don't typically leave to go be a 2nd round pick.

Mo Wagner doesn't even play. Teske ain't Wagner and Mo has a better shot and is far more versatile offensively.

Ethan Happ is a senior for a reason. Isaac Haas, what about him? Teske isn't better than those guys, he's got a shot get to that level in the B1G...but Haas isn't anything in the NBA and Happ isn't even on a lot of NBA mock drafts.

Uh, no. I like the NBA. I do like that you compare him to a bunch of mid to high first round picks, when I said Teske would go lower than that. Teske can play in the NBA because he can guard multiple positions, effectively runs the pick and roll, and can shoot the three a bit. Haas can't do any of that. Wagner has a more polished offensive game, but can't defend. I think Teske could be taken around the same position as Wagner, but I'm not hearing any Teske NBA hype either.

Christ.

That's what I'm saying!

Teske is NOT a National Player of the Year like Cody and Tyler Zeller or Frank Kaminsky. So you're talking about a guy with a similar game to National POTY candidates, when even THOSE guys never play in the league.

So...if those guys aren't playing.

...if their position, role and place in the NBA SINCE they've been drafted has diminished year-by-year.

...how the HELL is Teske a late first round pick?

Haas was undrafted last year. Just because he's tall and can set solid screens and hit 3's at an acceptable rate doesn't mean much anymore. He's far more valuable in the college game than he is in the NBA.

He's far more likely to be a 4 year player than get legit NBA interest and have a decision to make at the end of the year. And that's not a bad thing, he is going to be a legit 1st team All-B1G player next year.

Hopefully Castleton goes to Camp Sanderson this summer and he's the next in line.

You can disagree without the harshness that you open with (I can occasionally stand to back off myself sometimes). Not watching the NBA all the time is not the same as hating on it.

I think Teske has a future in the NBA myself, but just as a part of a rotation. He is excellent defensively, and can do well against stretch bigs that use the perimeter. There’s enough offense there that he can keep defenses honest.

But he’s not particularly athletic and he’s not a playmaker the way some less athletic bigs are, so his upside and utility are quite limited. Vandy’s Damien Smith had a similar stat profile to Teske a couple of years go when he came out, and he got drafted 30th. But he was on a different level athletically, regularly going above the rim in ways Teske never does.

I would think some team takes a second-round flyer on him. But after his senior year. He has nothing to gain by leaving early.

But he is college Rudy Gobert.  The fact that he's not actual Rudy Gobert, i.e. the best defensive big in the NBA doesn't mean he can't be an NBA player.

He does a couple things that the modern NBA loves: defends the pick and roll well and protects the rim without fouling.  He will get a chance to see whether those skills carry over against NBA athletes.

Casey Jacobsen said it perfectly after the game (and I'm paraphrasing here): When you're 7 foot tall, can move your feet, stay with guys, and contest shots, you are an elite athlete.

I do agree that he's almost certainly not going to get into the first round so there wouldn't be a reason to leave, but he'll get drafted as a senior or signed to a summer league contract to see what he can do.  I would be shocked if he didn't get an NBA contract as some point in his career.

I agree with you for the most part. Happ has almost no future in the NBA; he's not that tall and can't shoot.

Kaminsky and Zeller are similar players, but both are better shooters and can actually make a FT - Happ can't make anything but layups. Neither of them are lighting up the NBA, and they're better at pro ball things than Happ. Wagner is more agile, but he's also shorter with shorter arms.

Teske, OTOH, is a better defensive player than any of them, and he's taller and longer. He's also improving as a shooter. Wagner is more agile, but he's also shorter with shorter arms. Teske's length is a huge asset.

You're right, Teske's not athletic enough to be an NBA starter, but he could have a nice career as a back-up. He does a lot of things right.

The best thing that can happen for Teske is to keep learning from Coach Beilein - his improvement has been remarkable.
