03/24/2018 - 3:00pm As much as I want to have

As much as I want to have your attitude and not be hopeful or excited until it's proven on the field, I still find myself being at least hopeful, if not excited. Can't help it.

KBD will be a top 20 pick if not late lottery. He's built for the NBA.

Pretty good half. I would expect Poole to play a lot in the second half. I wouldn't mind seeing him get more of Z's minutes.

02/05/2018 - 11:34am Being in a physical game or

Being in a physical game or being tired does not account for poor free throw shooting. There's no doubt in my mind they practice free throws while they are tired in practice as well. I played college basketball and I was not a great free throw shooter and I can tell you that it had absolutely nothing to do with whether or not I was tired. I developed a mental block and so have some of our guys. Mechanics definitely are part of it with Matthews and Z. Matthews shoots from too high over his head at the line but not on his regular jump shot. Z barely uses his legs and has the ball a little too far out in front of him. Not sure what was up with MAAR poor FT shooting. In any case, if it doesn't improve, making a deep tournament run will be virtually impossible. That's the unfortunate truth.

01/31/2018 - 4:43pm Sadly, the way many trustees

Sadly, the way many trustees in the state of Michigan get elected, i.e. "broad name recognition" as the article puts it, is pretty much how we as a nation elected our current President.

01/22/2018 - 3:06pm Totally agree with

Totally agree with this.

It's hard to make the argument that Peters "improved" given the limited games that he played, the competition level, and the amount that he was asked to do.  He did almost nothing against Wisconsin prior to being injured and showed in that game and against SC very poor red zone decision making.  And against SC, he had some definite accuracy issues.

If Speight could have managed to stay healthy for the entire season, Michigan wins at least 9 regular season games and quite possibly 10.  I obviously don't think he is delaying his transfer decision to see what happens with Shea Patterson, but if I had to decide between Speight or Peters next year, I would take Speight based on what we have seen from both guys.  McCaffrey intrigues me with his family pedigree and the compliments that the coaching staff gave him throughout the year, but he's obviously a complete unknown at this point.

01/18/2018 - 10:47pm When a team calls a timeout,

When a team calls a timeout, it does not count as a media timeout. Michigan called timeout with under 8 minutes to play and then the next stoppage of play is the media timeout.

01/18/2018 - 10:21pm Plenty of time to make a run

Plenty of time to make a run but I have a hard time seeing that happen. The energy level is just not there.

01/18/2018 - 9:57pm Defense is not the main

Defense is not the main problem although it wasn't great. We shot 8 for 25 as a team. You can't beat anyone with that percentage.

01/18/2018 - 9:48pm Everyone is lost on offense

Everyone is lost on offense right now. They need to limit the damage by halftime and make sure this game isn't out of reach by then. I didn't get to watch the first half against Maryland. Does this look worse or about the same?

01/18/2018 - 9:42pm Another pathetic offensive

Another pathetic offensive first half. Everyone looks half asleep out there.

As a high school coach, I've always felt that having a player "accidentally" run over an opposing coach who likes to stray too far onto the court is an effective tactic.

Go Blue! Beat State!

01/12/2018 - 2:01am Bring him in. Why not? Tackle

Bring him in. Why not? Tackle is clearly the position that is most up in the air. Will Newsome be healthy? Will JBB be on the team? Can Ulizio or Runyan improve or have they hit their ceilings? Will one or more of the redshirt freshman be able to step in and play at a high level? Will they try out Bredeson at tackle if the interior ends up being Onwenu, Spanellis, Ruiz? Have I covered everything? So yeah...go get this kid. Might be a nice one year rental.

That was big. But it's still a deficit where you have to make a run to start the second half.

Way to give up momentum.

01/09/2018 - 9:49pm There are times when Wagner

There are times when Wagner could cut to the basket for a layup and instead he hangs out at the 3 point line. I hope coaches are pointing this out to him during film sessions.

01/09/2018 - 9:44pm It's pretty obvious that

It's pretty obvious that Livers and Poole are an upgrade to the lineup. It's just a matter of time for Beilein to trust them completely and increase the playing time.

They're making shots and we're not. Pretty simple story right now.

01/09/2018 - 12:26am Not to mention mental

Not to mention mental toughness. If Michigan took a sack like that on first down this year it would have been over.

01/09/2018 - 12:21am Tua might just make Alabama

Tua might just make Alabama unstoppable next year. They've won national championships with nameless QB's and now they might have an absolute star back there.

01/08/2018 - 11:47pm Fowler has been pretty

Fowler has been pretty annoying with his talk of "spinning" the ball ever since Tua came in.

Okay then. Tagovailoa it is.

01/08/2018 - 9:58pm Herbstreit just said that

Herbstreit just said that Alabama might go to their backup QB Tagovailoa in the second half because he brings more as a passer. Does he really think Bama is gonna throw a backup with practically no game experience out there?

01/08/2018 - 9:21pm Georgia displaying the kind

Georgia displaying the kind of creative offensive playcalling that Michigan lacked all year (except maybe the OSU game).

01/02/2018 - 12:57pm I would simplify it even

I would simplify it even further and say that Michigan, especially this year, has a losing mentality.  When you have a losing mentality, bad things happen.  As an athlete, if you don't have 100% confidence in yourself, your teammates, and your coaches, you open yourself up to mental lapses (the ball clanging off DPJ's helmet being my best example) and therefore lack of execution.  I look at yesterday as the prime example.  I can point to anything you want pretty much as the culprit, but I would say that it was a lack of belief that they were actually going to win the football game.  The defense began allowing big plays that had not happened all game and the offense began making mental mistakes that made us all scratch our heads and just want to scream, "WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING?"

I agree with the idea that Michigan lacked a go-to playmaker on offense this year.  However, is it because no one on the offense is talented enough to be that person?  Hardly, if you ask me.  Being a playmaker and the go-to person requires talent, of course, but even more so it requires the mentality and the belief that you are a playmaker and that you absolutely want the ball when a crucial moment presents itself.

It's up to the coaching staff and the players for that matter to develop a different mentality in the offseason.  Otherwise, I do not think anyone should just expect next year to be better because we will have more experience, depth, talent, yada yada yada.  Those things might help them win another game or so, but it won't put them over the top.

01/02/2018 - 12:34pm There are a lot of guys who

There are a lot of guys who could potentially do very well at Michigan but if you are looking for seven BIG name coaches, then yes, there aren't that many.  But since everyone wants to reference Clemson, Dabo Swinney had never been more than a position coach prior to taking over as the Head Coach at Clemson.  Michigan could go out and hire some no name assistant or head coach at a lower level (a la Jim Tressel) and yes, there are a lot of those guys who would love the opportunity if Michigan came knocking.  With all of that being said, I still think Harbaugh is the right guy for the job. However, this year there were some serious issues on his side of the ball.

12/09/2017 - 2:33pm Much needed win after the

Much needed win after the collapse at OSU. Still so much work to do for this team. As Beilein said, did everything they could to lose. If this was a road game we would have lost by 15-20. Gotta get better.

We are a bad offensive basketball team.

12/01/2017 - 10:22pm You can't really say that we

You can't really say that we would have won the Wisconsin game if Peters had stayed in. We were losing 14-10 when he went out and the offense did absolutely nothing the entire third quarter with awesome field position with Peters at QB. I agree that Peters was showing promise overall during his stint as the starter, but it's still too early to classify him as "well above average" or think that he is for sure going to take this offense to the next level. The reality is that he was playing somewhat above average and being asked to do very little in most of the games that he played.

11/27/2017 - 10:35am Yes thank you for pointing

Yes thank you for pointing out that we recruited a ton of OT last year and redshirted them. Also, James Hudson switched from defense to offense and projects to be a tackle. We won't have any experience unless Newsome comes back healthy, but Harbaugh is most certainly trying to build depth on the offensive line. That takes time. Also, Sam Webb pointed out earlier this year that Filiaga practiced a lot at the guard position this year so he may not end up being a tackle.

11/27/2017 - 10:28am If the QB makes a bad read

If the QB makes a bad read and a bad throw, then why was it a bad play call? It's his job to read the safety on that play and he didn't. Kekoa was open on the play as was Zach Gentry. You have to get some chunk yardage down by 4 with under 3 minutes.
