It will be interesting how the NET ratings effect the selection in the end. Due to (alleged) poor handling of opponent strength, it may favor mid-majors significantly more heavily than RPI, with the exception of the MVC which successfully gamed RPI. If that's the case, it will be difficult for the Big Ten to send more than 8 teams. Of course, the exact formula is not public, so it's hard to say until it's reverse engineered...which will probably occur by the end of the year.

Concerning or entirely expected? He's never going to be a shooter. The problem is when he takes 3 straight 25 footers on three straight possessions. Just what was up with his shot selection?

The internets need a gif of that asap.

Looked like Pardons had a pretty big travel there..

12/02/2018 - 1:13pm I think it would move things…

I think it would move things in that direction. Not as much as giving conference champs auto-bids in a 8 team playoff, but it would place more of an emphasis on winning your conference championship, than finishing the season a 1 or 2 loss SEC team. Conference champs with 2 loses would frequently make it over 1 loss teams, if they made that change.

12/02/2018 - 1:05pm They should have a…

They should have a requirement that only conference champs can make the playoffs. Then maybe everyone will start scheduling tougher OOC games.

Loving the lob play to Teske. Executing it like a pro...

11/28/2018 - 4:11pm I would rather play ND than…

I would rather play ND than not play them and have a slightly better chance at making the playoffs. Sometimes.

People actually want to watch Michigan play 4 tomato cans in the OOC season? That's just insane. If that's the case, then the CFP is just a cancer and I don't give a rip who wins it.

11/14/2018 - 2:02pm Uh no. When the SEC was…

Uh no. When the SEC was beating up on each other early in the year, the Big Ten and Pac 10 were doing the same since they play an extra conference game. The SEC just uses their extra non-conference game to schedule a complete garbage team.

And I will complain about it. If the CFP is going to be foolish enough to reward this kind of scheduling, then the Big Ten will inevitably follow suit and that will SUCK as a fan. Not only will we still get Rutgers and Maryland every year, but maybe Delaware State right in the middle of November too! No thank you!

It's decisions like this that would only put college football further in decline.

11/05/2018 - 1:12pm OSU/Nebraska also went from…

OSU/Nebraska also went from something like 21.5 to 17.5 Tuesday or Wednesday. Both seem like big movements with no corresponding news to explain that kind of movement. I don't follow this stuff enough to know if it's that unusual though.

Seems like they made the correct judgement call then.

10/27/2018 - 11:41am Product of the program,…

Product of the program, indeed.

10/25/2018 - 2:10pm My 9 year old son has done…

My 9 year old son has done the same since Michigan started playing The Rutgers regularly. Now, when The Rutgers score comes on the TV, he will laugh at the other team if they allowed The Rutgers to score a touchdown, often followed by "[team X] must be really terrible this year. The Rutgers are the worst." And I can't really disagree with him.

10/22/2018 - 1:51pm I would be shocked if they…

I would be shocked if they suspended Bush. I don't think it's about that.

That's a bunch of BS. They have no psychological advantage, just a talent advantage.

10/12/2018 - 8:47am Prices don't seem that low,…

Prices don't seem that low, all factors considered. Face value was probably overpriced for this game to start.

10/08/2018 - 9:46am Baumgardner is pretty easily…

Baumgardner is pretty easily the best UM beat writer, imo. Don't know why half the people on this board want to whine about him, unless it's just about holding a grudge about anything freep over their reporting from almost a decade ago.

10/06/2018 - 10:24pm Dumb play by Nelson. He…

Dumb play by Nelson. He lowers his head and takes a shot at the receiver instead of trying to push him out or wrap up. Total cheap shot.

10/03/2018 - 9:13am I always felt like Ray came…

I always felt like Ray came into the '98 season out of shape, and that really hurt us in the first couple games that season.

All the comments about Ray got me thinking about that again.

10/01/2018 - 4:53pm Outside of 2015, 2016 & …

Outside of 2015, 2016 & (hopefully) 2018, we've been a pretty average Big Ten team. So, it seems pretty normal that we haven't beaten too many teams that hardly anyone else beats on the road.

Maybe that's the "problem". Michigan hasn't been good enough to beat good teams on the road. So, there's the answer for the OP.

10/01/2018 - 4:23pm Ugh, I am getting old.

Ugh, I am getting old.

10/01/2018 - 4:09pm Harbaugh's road games:

Harbaugh's road games:

Year 1

Beat Rutgers 78-0, beat MSU by 11 or 12, were upset by Iowa, and unexpectedly took OSU to OT.

Last year (not a great team, mind you)

Beat Purdue by 18, Beat IU in OT, blown out by PSU, lost by 2 TDs to UW.

This year:

Lost to ND by a TD, beat NU by 3.

That's a 5-5 road record. Our expected record might be 6-4 out of those games. I dunno. Seems like we're doing pretty average on the road, relative to the quality of our teams and opponents.

Edit: and I missed some games that improves Harbaugh's road record (read below).

10/01/2018 - 4:01pm Which "metrics" back this up…

Which "metrics" back this up? I have not heard of them. They play about as well as other teams do on the road, as far as I can tell.

09/18/2018 - 5:06pm From what I've seen, I'd put…

From what I've seen, I'd put it at 85% chance of leaving. Don't get your hopes up.

How is Oregon so high?? Surprised they're even top 25.

09/09/2018 - 9:04pm The hold on Kinnel during…

The hold on Kinnel during that play was more egregious, and we would've stopped them for a long time had it not occurred.

09/02/2018 - 9:52pm NDs OTs were just as bad as…

NDs OTs were just as bad as Michigan's. Their coaches came up with a better plan to mitigate their weakness and their players made a few more big plays.

09/01/2018 - 12:03am I thought MSU's OL & RBs…

I thought MSU's OL & RBs looked pretty bad. Better hope they have depth at the QB position.

08/29/2018 - 9:02pm Brandon absolutely agreed to…

Brandon absolutely agreed to it because he didn't stop it. He didn't need to make any threats, all he had to do was ask them to change it and it would have been done. It makes ZERO sense to play those games both at home or away in a season, and I am convinced the league office would've changed it without a problem. But Brandon was a shitty AD, and he probably thought this fit well with his, "if it ain't broke, break it" moronic philosophy.

08/23/2018 - 8:59am I'm mostly disappointed…

I'm mostly disappointed President Drake did not resign over the BoT keeping Meyer. That would've created maximum chaos at OSU.

08/23/2018 - 8:46am Exactly. OSU clearly wrote…

Exactly. OSU clearly wrote the summary themselves, at the very least. Meyer was caught repeatedly lying throughout the investigation, then the summary says he did nothing wrong. It makes zero sense.

Not a lawyer, but it seems like the investigation gave the grounds to fire for-cause, if they choose to go that route. Just needed the alternate summary then.

08/20/2018 - 12:45pm Allowing NIL money would…

Allowing NIL money would benefit Michigan about as much as anybody (except maybe ND), as athletes would gravitate towards schools with the largest following. So I'm all for it.

08/10/2018 - 10:59pm Not a great start by the…

Not a great start by the Lions. They look like a poorly coached Syracuse team....

05/14/2018 - 6:38pm Pick up the beer drinker

Pick up the beer drinker guide to Munich:

The Beer Drinker's Guide to Munich

Or check out the old school website

Used it when I visited Munich 12 years ago and it was invaluable. Bunch of off the beaten path beer gardens and halls worth checking out.

05/10/2018 - 9:23am Taken out of context, it

Taken out of context, it sounds bad. But reading the press release, I took it as them explaining what occurred, not giving the "young and stupid" argument.

05/07/2018 - 4:45pm The Pistons were very public

The Pistons were very public in their gushing over Darko pre-draft, which is why I think everyone had him #2. I am more sympathic to their selection of Kennard, who looks like at least an average selection for a #12 pick. And a bunch of other teams passed on Mitchell as well.

05/03/2018 - 9:24am Gibby + Josh Lewin were a

Gibby + Josh Lewin were a really fun, entertaining combo. Gibson was a lot more dynamic and playful as an annoucer back then. I know a lot of "traditionalists" didn't care for Lewin, but I liked him too.

05/02/2018 - 8:48am That's gotta be an oversite.

That's gotta be an oversight. Other places have him going high in the 1st round, which would be great for us. has him #1.

05/02/2018 - 8:45am Considering his height, #47

Considering his height, #47 seems extremely optimistic for Bush. #80-100 seems more likely, even if he has an All-Big Ten season, as expected.

The other guys draft positions seem more plausible.

04/27/2018 - 10:14am He has too much potential as

He has too much potential as a game changing pass rusher to not be taken in the 2nd round, even with legitimate concerns about his size and health. I guess we'll see if NFL GMs agree with that assessment today.

04/19/2018 - 3:21pm I would put MSU, Purdue,

I would put MSU, Purdue, Nebraska and Maryland as the top contenders in next years Big Ten, so it seems like this is a slightly favorable schedule. Michigan is the clear favorite.

Big Ten could be pretty bad again next year, unfortunately.

04/19/2018 - 11:28am That's a great schedule,

That's a great schedule, especially for Lions ticket holders. All the tough out-of-division opponents at home, save maybe the Cowboys. Should be an interesting season.

04/19/2018 - 8:47am When did one of our coaches

When did one of our coaches do that?

04/18/2018 - 1:14pm I will be surprised if

I will be surprised if Castleton doesn't get most of the backup minutes next year. I'm not ready to give up on Davis either, but based on what I saw this year, he's the underdog to get the backup minutes at the 5 next year.

04/17/2018 - 3:14pm Amazing Everclear is the best

Amazing Everclear is the best selling band Oregon's been able to produce. They only have a couple of single platinum albums.

04/12/2018 - 5:00pm Seems like a much less

Seems like a much less suicidal decision for Comcast.

04/10/2018 - 12:59pm That's surprising because he

That's surprising because he looks pretty skilled and fundamentally sound for a HS big.

04/06/2018 - 1:37pm It would be against the norm

It would be against the norm if a few players didn't transfer before then. I'm guessing that will be a 3 man class.

Edit - this was meant as a reply to a comment above regarding the 2019 class.

04/02/2018 - 7:26pm That is awesome! Nice

That is awesome! Nice work.
