Obvious grains of salt because it's Dakich, he's a basketball guy, he's an IU guy, and he's known to speak out of his ass.

Purdue and Louisville are historically very similar. Similar size stadium, similar overall win percentages, # of conference titles, and a few other things. Most of Purdue's success came pre 1970 however, whereas most of Louisville's success has come in the past 30 years. Purdue hasn't won more than 7 games in the past decade, Louisville has done so about 6 times, 4 times since the joined they ACC 5 years ago. Purdue has one coach since 1970 (Tiller) with a career record above .500. On the whole they're very similar programs tradition wise, but Louisville's success has been much more recent.

Is it wrong though?

Whether or not you think they'll turn things around, Florida State is a tire fire right now. At the moment, the ACC really is just Clemson. I don't think there's any doubt it's a cake walk today.

If your argument is that program with a history of sustained success will rebound, I think the point is even more correct. There are at least four programs in the Big Ten that have more historical clout than the best in the ACC.

In all seriousness, why would Purdue being a better school academically make the job more appealing to a football coach?

I remember an anonymous quote from a major college coach when MSU had their last coach search. To paraphrase, the MSU job is underrated. There's no problem getting your players in and keeping them eligible.

Probably the truest thing said by a coach about another school's job.

Seriously?

Cause if you're serious, well, Louisville's negative is a troubled athletic department given recent legal issues.

But it is otherwise loaded with positives. A modern new stadium. A strong recent history that includes BCS bowl wins and teams that flirted with national title contention. Looser academic standards that can allow him to get athletes on campus. Access to more, better recruiting areas. A P5 conference in which it's easier to be competitive but not so easy as weaken the prospects of the team.

But, ultimately, he's a Louisville guy. He played there. His family has all been there. We of all programs can understand that.

Seen this game before.  My guess is this is driven by intentional leaks by Brohms agent in order to get the people with money, regardless of the school, to loosen their purse strings.

Dakich isn't known for false news reports, is he? I can't believe he'd just report something that didn't have some substance behind it, even if it's Herbstreit-level shaky.

This isn't a huuuge surprise. If it flips Karlaftis to Michigan, it's good for us; it's unfortunate for the B1G, which has struggled with poor coaching. Brohm was a guy who quickly elevated a basement team to mid-level; good for everybody in the conference (except for, you know, OSU, but I for one enjoyed that).

That's funny. No words after Michigan's 27 point win last night?

Wonder why not? Maybe it's because you're an msu troll who has LITERALLY NOTHING ANYMORE.
