You might be right, but still his 2011 season is tied for the best Michigan record of the 21st C.

If you're going to blame Brady Hoke for the regression of 2017, you logically have to give him credit for the back to back 10 win seasons of 2015 and 2016.

On the other hand the 2014 M offense being shutout by ND did portend things to come for Michigan.  Much more so than putting up 52 on Appy St. the week prior.

I'm thinking Keegan is waiting to see if: A.) Warinner can work his magic at Michigan, and B.) if yes, will he be staying at Michigan?  In any case, AFAIK, he has yet to take an official visit anywhere.

When he grows another 2 or 3 inches.  He's not of prototypical height therefore he must be inherently challenged, therefore anything he does is a surprise.  Hey, not my logic, but it is to some.

Looking at UM's depth chart, either they are phasing out the TE, or they need to get extremely busy for both 2019 and 2020.  I believe there are no sophomore TEs on scholarship and only one freshman.  The other seven scholarship TEs are juniors and seniors.

I don't usually follow the coaches much so only notice more macro issues but the insipid 11 man stack formation was a waste of practice time that fooled nobody and was only included because Jay is related to Jim.

I don't, and I could live my life in serenity if I never knew the status.  Still, for those who hang on every last bit of information regarding a recruit up to and including the LOI, I should think they would be interested to learn that the recruit they know will transform the football team will in fact be enrolled and be part of that team.

Why?  How is researching the academic status of recruits remotely creepy?  People have no problems researching their athletic prowess, so how is this different?

Per his interview he says it wasn't that he turned on Michigan, rather that after being offered in 2015 he didn't hear from Michigan again until late last year.

Does anybody have insight to the apparent falling out between Meyer and Warinner?  Don't get me wrong, I think he was a great hire if for no other reason than he brought freshness to a stagnant position group, but I find it rather unfathomable that Urbs let him get away.

Here's to hoping he'll be giving back those gold pants for many years to come.

I think you missed the better correlation.  The five losses are against teams which had winning records, the three wins were against teams with losing records.

06/24/2018 - 2:02pm I think comparisons with…

I think comparisons with Clemson are quite relevant.  Swinney and his staff do more with less year in and year out and are playing for and winning both conference and national championships.  I think every program in the country would be smart to at least take a look at what Swinney is doing.  Not necessarily about running their version of football, but what they do to get the most out of each individual player.

Could be a great get, but have to disabuse him of the notion that playing as a true freshman will be a given.

06/23/2018 - 10:06am Perhaps I wasn't clear, I…

Perhaps I wasn't clear, I was concerned.  I was concerned through most of the first decade of the 21st C as, IMO, Carr was going through the motions.  I was concerned during the RR and BH years for various and multiple reasons.  I was overjoyed that Michigan was able to finally land Jim Harbaugh, somebody I thought was an opportunity Michigan had missed a few years earlier.  It is not 'wringing of hands' to point out that after the excitement of having a new coach wears thin the lifeblood of the program which is recruiting, becomes a product of past performance.  Short of achieving at least playing for a conference championship this year, I've come to an acceptance and resignation, Michigan football will likely not return to national relevance in my remaining years.  In other words, I'm no longer concerned.

06/22/2018 - 8:27pm "It sure does if we want to…

"It sure does if we want to consistently beat OSU and make it to the CFP. Personally though, I can wait as long as a Clemson fan can."

2009, Swinney's first full year as HC, Clemson played for the ACC championship.  2010, a losing season.  2011, Swinney's third year as HC he led the Tigers to the ACC championship and it's been uphill ever since to include winning the National Championship.

2011 was the 20th anniversary of Clemson's previous ACC Championship, are you saying you're good with waiting until at least 2023 before Michigan wins another B1G championship?

06/22/2018 - 8:04pm Winning has to be better now…

Winning has to be better now, recruiting should follow, but I don't see winning getting any better.  I imagine many of the top flight players are now looking at Rashan Gary and saying, "There but for the Grace of God go I."  Simple fact, winning players want to be part of winning teams.  Gary is getting a great education and will likely, if he remains healthy, be well regarded by the NFL and be paid handsomely for his services.  But man, on some level you have to feel sorry for him that he gave up the chance to be a National Championship contender to being part of a 2nd tier B1G East program.

06/21/2018 - 7:57pm I agree, nine wins is not…

I agree, nine wins is not enough but to get there would mean changing Michigan's ability to win road games against opponents with a pulse.  Over the past three seasons just two (2) road wins against teams with a winning record, PSU in 2015 and Purdue last season.  With four road games against very credible opponents and two more home games against Nebraska and Wisconsin, that is a lot of inertia to overcome.  Having said that, I fully expect Coach Harbaugh with his revamped offensive staff will have the team in the national discussion the first week of December.  I wish them Godspeed.

06/20/2018 - 9:53pm All P5 teams play that…

All P5 teams play that weekend, most on Saturday, a few on Friday, and the Mississippis will play on Thanksgiving this year.

This is a function of the twelve game schedule and having bye weeks at meaningful times of the season, e.g. not the first or last week of the 13 week season.

Playing The Game the weekend before Thanksgiving wasn't a tradition, playing The Game as the last regular season game for Michigan and OSU was the tradition.  People tend to forget that The Game is played following Thanksgiving from time to time whenever the first Saturday of November falls on the third of fourth of the month.  The one exception that I could find was 1984 when evidently the Big 10 didn't schedule a bye week though they started the season a week early.

That's true of all golf courses.  Is it fair when groups go out in the morning with the sun shining, fair temperatures, and no wind but just as they finish their round the leaders go out into a cold driving rain?  Welcome to championship golf whether it be at St. Andrews, Augusta, Pebble Beach, or Shinnecock Hills, the weather is always a changing element that everyone knows will change.
