Angelique predicts 10-2 (7-2)
Losses to Wisconsin and OSU...
Detroit News: Michigan football game-by-game predictions https://detne.ws/2oeEMBb
I'm sorry, but that would be an awful season IMO.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:36 PM ^
Depends on who you're talking to when you say it would be awful.
To many Michigan fans who are sick and tired of losing to OSU every year, yeah it'd suck and be a somewhat hollow season. But it would also mean winning 10 games with easily one of the toughest schedules in the country. If not THE toughest. Would mean beating at least two ranked teams on the road in ND and MSU, and beating what should be a very good, if not elite PSU team.
That's an NY6 bowl, playoff chatter through the end of the regular season and definitely some recruiting momentum is gained back. Yes, I'd rather beat OSU too. But it wouldn't be a total disaster of a season.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:41 PM ^
Naw....14-2 losses to bookend the year ;)
August 27th, 2018 at 11:12 PM ^
congrats on being the first team to play 16 games
August 28th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
See, UofM wins the CFP, but finish #2 in recruiting rankings.
So slightly, disappointing ;)

The pimple on my right butt cheek (no, the other one) predicts a 7-5 season butt then what does he know about our new QB?
August 27th, 2018 at 1:14 PM ^
Ass pimples are the worst.
I have nothing more to add.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:45 PM ^
Will we ever beat OSU again lol fakkk
August 27th, 2018 at 12:48 PM ^
They have the talent to be 12-0. Realistically they shouldn't lose a game. But that doesn't factor in a grueling schedule and injuries and whatnot.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:03 PM ^
We have the defense to be 12-0 bound, but until proven otherwise our offense may be 9-3 caliber at best. Hope l'm wrong.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:05 PM ^
Shouldn't lose a game? Are you serious? OSU has more talent than we do. ND and PSU arguably have as much or more talent than we do. And MSU is right there too. Wisky has close to our talent too and are really rolling coming off a big Bowl win.
Shouldn't lose a game? What are people smoking? We will be better than last year, that much I am sure of, but the schedule is brutal, we could be much better and still go 8-4.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:36 PM ^
Realistically we shouldn't lose, but that doesn't factor the schedule or any possible injuries. That doesn't sound realistic at all.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:51 PM ^
I’m sorry, but your expectations are not realistic.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:54 PM ^
10-2 isn't really awful though...
while i understand that losing to OSU again is awful, objectively 10-2 is a very good year with this schedule.
i'd gladly trade down to 9-3 if that meant beating both MSU and OSU though
i don't now how Branden f'd up, but having both games versus MSU/OSU on the road in the same year is pretty ridiculous...need to get that fixed sooner rather than later.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:55 PM ^
LOL, some folks in our fanbase...
Franklin: "Back to back 10 win seasons, how is it he is doing better than Harbaugh"
Harbaugh: "Ugh, if we only get our 3rd 10 win season in 4 years its this year is a total failure"
August 27th, 2018 at 11:15 PM ^
LOL franklin won a championship. Nice try though.
August 27th, 2018 at 12:58 PM ^
12-0 or bust!
August 27th, 2018 at 1:01 PM ^
When will the “Beat ND” start in response to any topic? I have us at 8-4, unfortunately due to the brutal schedule.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:02 PM ^
Awful season? Beating ND, PSU, and MSU would be outstanding. 10-2 would be fantastic too. I have us 9-3/8-4, so 10-2 would be a pleasant surprise for me.
August 27th, 2018 at 7:12 PM ^
Same. Anybody that says 10-2 is a disappointment must live their lives in constant disappointment because they're setting unreasonable goals.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:13 PM ^
I'd like to know what constitutes a good season then if losing to the numbers 4 and 5 teams in the country and beating everyone else would be considered a disappointment.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:17 PM ^
2016 was a "good" season. Losses were very close and could have easily gone the other way.
We have to beat OSU to have a great season. Even 11-1 wouldn't be satisfying if we lose to those cousin fuckers again.
August 27th, 2018 at 3:31 PM ^
Hatter! Glad to see you back!
August 27th, 2018 at 1:15 PM ^
Everyone will say we'll lose to OSU every year until we start beating them. This won't change.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:22 PM ^
I say that, with decent quarterbacking, we beat OSU. We had the gameplan to beat them the past two years and despite the shitty refs, we'd have spanked them with solid play at QB. We had damn near everything we needed to build the house, but somebody forgot the saw.
Regardless, this schedule is too tough to predict an undefeated season. Wisconsin is going to be damn tough, and Sparty, despite having what I believe to be an inferior team, is going to be a dogfight after having to face the Badgers. PSU is going to be tough too. I just don't see any reason Harbaugh isn't going to be very well prepared for OSU, though. Give us some solid quarterbacking and I think we take that one. Urban looked like he was going to have a nervous breakdown on the sidelines these past two years.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:27 PM ^
If we must lose one, let it be vs Wisconsin at home, sin Black. Win the east and rematch vs Wisconsin after hopefully our tackles have 6 more weeks of technique.
If we have to lose a second, let it be northwestern. They will be under the radar good this year (and possibly ranked at the time), and it's away.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:36 PM ^
I'll take 10-2 with loses to ND and Wisconsin because then we are in the Big 10 Championship. A win there, then a 2 loss Michigan is going to the playoff as the #4 seed.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:32 PM ^
I’d rather lose to ND than OSU.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:33 PM ^
Who gives a Fuck what anyone predicts?
Beat ND.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:42 PM ^
If I had to predict the season right now, I think I'd do the same. It'd be an objectively good season, even with a loss to OSU. Though I think I'd take 9-3 with a win against OSU.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:43 PM ^
10-2 with this schedule would be outstanding. At worst, we'd have a shot to win the Fiesta or Peach Bowl or something like that. And at best, if the B1G champion gets called into the playoff, we could be on our way to the Rose Bowl.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:53 PM ^
I would be ok with 10-2, estatic actually. My only want is that we beat MSU and Ohio State this year.
August 27th, 2018 at 1:56 PM ^
Against MSU. defense "has to" be the difference. Reads like she is praying.
August 27th, 2018 at 2:12 PM ^
I remember when I cared more about things newspaper people said in newspaper articles.
August 27th, 2018 at 2:16 PM ^
A 10 win season does not cut it for me. ND to me is a slightly better 2017 Florida. Any road game to start the year against your rival is a tough challenge, but Don Brown has studied this ND offense when he was in the ACC, and now in the Big 10. He has all the tape, experience, and players he needs to go get this one. 27-17 Michigan with the defense getting at least 1 TD. Any loss to PSU, or WI at home would be a major disappointment to me. This team is good enough to beat both of those teams. It is time for us to field a real home field advantage, similar to what PSU did to us last year. If our defense plays to the level they are capable, we should win both of those games with an average to good offensive showing. A loss to MSU would absolutely crush me, and I hate to say it...but cause me to lose a lot of faith in our coaching staffs ability to ever get over the hump and win the rivalry games consistently. I do not think that happens this year though. I am hoping with a QB who is more of a leader, and a team that is still pissed off about last year we go into EL and put MSU back in their place.
I truly believe we go into Columbus with us and OSU undefeated...its hard for me to predict that as a win with what we witnessed the refs and BIG 10 do in the last game there. You know OSU fans will treat this like an "us against the world" type game, still being pissed about urban being treated so poorly (in their eyes). I think we lose a dog fight, 11-1 regular season, finish second in the Big 10 East but end up making the playoff due to our tough schedule along with undefeated OSU, Bama, and Clemson. What happens there is anyone's guess.
Obviously I am looking at this in my maize and blue tinted glasses, but we are due for a season where we catch some breaks, and finally perform our best in the biggest games...From what I've seen and heard from Shea, I think we have that leader who can push us over the top...we are in for a great year.
August 27th, 2018 at 2:35 PM ^
ESPN has Michigan beating OSU, winning the East, but losing to Wisconsin in the conference championship game. Oh.....and has Harbaugh as the conference coach of the year.
*Scroll down to the section that breaks down every conference*
August 27th, 2018 at 2:39 PM ^
I understand Wisconsin is ranked top 5 in the preseason but I have yet to hear a convincing argument that they are (will be) good enough to beat Michigan at Michigan. No doubt they will be good this year. But so will we. We have revenge factor. And we're home. If the line were set today I think Michigan would be favored by a few points.
August 27th, 2018 at 2:45 PM ^
ESPN predicts Michigan beating Wisconsin during the season, but losing the title game rematch.
Personally, I feel that this potentially is the best team Michigan has fielded since 1997. Definitely the best team since the (1 vs 2) 3 point loss to OSU....and BS championship snub.
August 27th, 2018 at 7:10 PM ^
We have more questions to answer than Wisconsin. They have a plethora of all-B1G caliber linemen too, and if you can control the line of scrimmage then you're going to be much better. Michigan hasn't been had a good offensive line in ages.
August 27th, 2018 at 3:11 PM ^
we gonna lose to Wisky at home?
with our D?
yeah, that dog don't hunt
August 27th, 2018 at 3:15 PM ^
Beat OSU or the season is yet another failure. Harbaugh hasn’t had a successful season yet.
August 27th, 2018 at 3:29 PM ^
Beat MSU, lose to OSU.... it wouldn't be my ideal but its not an awful season.
August 27th, 2018 at 3:47 PM ^
I'm thinking 10-2 at least. UM arguably has more talent than 11 of their 12 opponents. I think 9-3 is underachieving. Schedule is not an excuse.
August 27th, 2018 at 7:07 PM ^
Michigan has had more talent that 11 of their 12 opponents almost every year in recent history. It doesn't mean they're going to win 11 games.
August 27th, 2018 at 7:48 PM ^
It's true that UM is a classic underachiever for the better part of a decade. Jim Harbaugh was hired to get over the hump. If he contines the UM trend of doing less with more, he will be a former coach too.
August 27th, 2018 at 3:53 PM ^
12-0 Relax guys - we got this
August 27th, 2018 at 4:00 PM ^
I'm good with 10-2, as long as little brother and the ball cuddlers of oh are in the 10, not the 2.
August 27th, 2018 at 4:06 PM ^
12-0 is possible (IF Warriner turns out to be an OLine whisperer and Patterson is 'as-advertised')
11-1 - same deal with one hiccup game.
10-2 totally doeable.
9-3 possible if the oline makes little progress.
8-4 only acceptable if we beat OSU and MSU with some unexplainable bad losses against teams we were suppose to beat (Northweatern or Indiana-ish).
August 27th, 2018 at 5:56 PM ^
10-2 isn't an awful season, but losing to OSU would be an awful end to the season. Losing to ND hurts. Losing to MSU is irritating. But, losing to OSU damages my soul!
I definitely can accept another 10 win season, but make the losses Wisconsin and Penn State. LOL For the record, a convincing argument can be made that the schedule sets up well for this Michigan team to go undefeated. I don't think Wisconsin will be as good as the experts think. Michigan is more talented than MSU. And, we have a bye before the Penn State game. As far as ND and OSU, Michigan's defense should shutdown ND. OSU is a tough matchup, but we've had them beat in the last 2 years with one physically hurt qb (Speight) and one qb with a hurt psyche (O'Korn). We have played OSU pretty evenly, the difference has been our quarterbacks mistakes. If Shea plays better than the last 2 guys in THE GAME, Michigan should leave Columbus with a win.
So, I'm pretty much calling 12-0 this year.
August 27th, 2018 at 7:05 PM ^
Lol. 10-2 with losses to Wisconsin and Ohio State would not be "awful." That's better than I'm expecting.
August 28th, 2018 at 9:44 AM ^
The msu beat writer (i assume) for the DetNews predicted a 10-2 season for the spartans, with losses to penn state and Nebraska which, uh, is an interesting take.
