r/cfb is the complete opposite of almost every college football message board. Posters there are rational, down to earth, and surprisingly polite.

10/14/2018 - 1:50pm OU only lost to Texas…

OU only lost to Texas because the defense had another meltdown, which led to the firing of Mike Stoops.

I thought Harbaugh said in one of his press conferences that Black started running again?

10/11/2018 - 1:48pm My theory is that he has an…

My theory is that he has an ankle sprain, similar to the injury Mo Wagner had last year. Its an injury that will keep you out two weeks, but feels significant when it happens. I got a sprain while trail running a few months ago, and when it happened I thought I for sure destroyed some ligaments or broke my ankle. Could explain why they brought out the cart for him.

10/11/2018 - 12:54am Come on man, thats stupid.

Come on man, thats stupid.

It was clearly the Illuminati

10/10/2018 - 10:39pm You could have worded that…

You could have worded that better, but for the most part I agree.

Coming off injury and playing Wisconsin's Oline isn't the greatest matchup. I think he will play on Saturday, but I can't see him having a huge role outside of a few snaps. He will gradually get back up to full strength as the season goes on.

I propose Don Kelly and C-Mo

10/10/2018 - 1:41pm I feel like Gibson and C-Mo…

I feel like Gibson and C-Mo could compliment each other pretty well. Gibson clearly knows his stuff, but is too monotone. He needs a high energy counterpart.

10/10/2018 - 1:39pm I can just see Mario just…

I can just see Mario just wailing on Rod Allen screaming "How about this for a Big Fella!"

10/10/2018 - 1:12pm The NFL is filled with stars…

The NFL is filled with stars who were not highly recruited. Sure you have the Matt Staffords in the NFL (guys who were graded as can't miss guys coming out of HS) but you also have several guys like JJ Watt who started out as a two star TE at Central Michigan. Projection and Talent Development matter big time.

But John Oliver told me all new stadiums are evil.

Texas has a pretty damn good defense actually.

I hate when football cuts into my commercials

I don't know about that. Fox showed the end of the John McCain funneral over the start of Oklahoma vs FAU.

10/04/2018 - 1:12am Considering last year we…

Considering last year we were struggling blocking against inferior opponents with guys that beat out our two starting tackles, you got to admit that this line is much much improved and headed in the right direction.

10/04/2018 - 1:09am Creativity could be better,…

Creativity could be better, but I don't think thats the problem. This staff has a supposed offensive guy in Harbaugh, and three guys that had success as coordinators at given points in time. I find it very doubtful that all four guys can't think of creative plays. I think the problem is that they are running a complex offense with too many plays, that is better suited for the NFL. This can cause the offense to have struggles getting into a positive rhythm. I think they, could really use a modern college coordinator with some pro style elements mixed in.

10/03/2018 - 7:42pm The line is improving, and…

The line is improving, and this is despite the fact that our two starting tackles couldn't win jobs on last year's line. Its pretty great. Lets hope we can get Warinner some NFL talent in the next few classes.

09/30/2018 - 2:43am It was pretty similar to…

It was pretty similar to this game in my opinion. Michigan started that game playing like complete garbage first half, and then they got all kinds of momentum in the second half. Also that Wisconsin team turned out to not be that good.

09/27/2018 - 2:42pm Whats Devin up to these days…

Whats Devin up to these days besides doing these breakdowns? Is he not going to be playing in Japan this year?

09/26/2018 - 1:56am Oklahoma fan here.

Oklahoma fan here.

Mike Stoops is a terrible defensive coordinator who holds them back. He cost them a national championship last year.

09/20/2018 - 4:43pm Broken Arrow is on of the…

Broken Arrow is on of the top 40 teams in the nation this year. For reference, Michigan's highest rated team is in tje 80s.

09/19/2018 - 9:58pm Oklahoma talent is far…

Oklahoma talent is far better then New Mexico talent. Dax Hill isn't dominating because Oklahoma talent is inferior. The top programs in that state are very comparable to the top programs in Michigan.

09/19/2018 - 4:18pm Former Oklahoman here.

Former Oklahoman here.

Oklahoma high school talent is more quality over quantity, in that they may not produce a lot of talent, but the top guys are elite.

That being said, there are some powerhouse programs, Union and Jenks being the main ones.

Overall, I'd say its very comparable to Michigan high school football, albeit with less people and they run different types of systems.

09/13/2018 - 12:14pm I used to work in a couple…

I used to work in a couple of athletic departments, the most noteworthy being Oklahoma's. I came across many athletes and the personality trait that all the good athletes have in common is that they are some of the most insanely competitive and driven people that I have ever met. The athletes that play a lot are very competitive in all things in life. I remember playing laser tag with a just graduated softball player, and she was treating laser tag like it was life and death. It was unreal. Some football and basketball players don't put a whole lot of emphasis in school, but that is only because academics were never stressed that much to them growing up.

So to answer your question, I think some of them see message board stuff, some just laugh at it and cite it as crazy fans, while others use that to fuel them and motivate them. I think a lot of athletes on teams that disappoint (like Michigan last year) go into their training looking to shut people up. Many other athletes on great teams that fall just short of a championship are driven insane that their goal of winning it all was so close, but uncomplete, which is why I think many athletes were quick to criticize Kevin Durant from leaving a great OKC team.

09/12/2018 - 5:44pm Statistically speaking, DPJ…

Statistically speaking, DPJ was one of the best freshman receivers in the country last year. He's now a true sophmore and has only played two games this year. Lets calm down a bit.

I think this is a 10-3 team. But after last year, I'll take that.

"You see, my heart was acting up, so I had to take my memory loss pills, and then write my apology for my most recent apology statement, all while visiting some former players of mine in prison. All of this made me just mismanage ZS, not lie about it."

I would be ok with 10-2, estatic actually.  My only want is that we beat MSU and Ohio State this year.

08/27/2018 - 1:27pm Whats the news on Gary?…

Whats the news on Gary? Rumors were circulating he was hurt.

08/26/2018 - 8:55pm I doubt they are going to…

I doubt they are going to live stream McElwain humping a shark.

08/26/2018 - 8:52pm Kingston Davis was recruited…

Kingston Davis was recruited to be a fullback, he decided he wanted to stay a running back and transferred out in an attempt to be one.

Nate Johnson, was a miss and had some legal issues. It happens. and every respectable program cuts bait on those guys quickly.

Eddie McDoom, transferred because a higher rated Jim Harbaugh recruit passed him up on the depth chart.

Kareem Walker had grade issues as well as some other personal issues. It happens. Every university in the nation has kids that don't cut it academically.

Ahmir Mitchell, had some personal issues, he was shown the door pretty quickly.

Kekoa Crawford: See Eddie McDoom.

Every coach and every program has people that transferred out. You are really reaching. And also, yea last year was Harbaugh's first year with mostly his recruits. But while that's true, they were all first year starting Freshmen and sophomores on a team that had to replace 10 defensive starters, lost their no.1 received week 3, and playing with their 3rd string QB. Guess what, every team will fucking struggle with that. They still went 8-5 and only got blown out in one game. Every other game they lost was close. Also, crazy thought, teams improve. Georgia was 8-5 before last year, MSU (with mostly 3 stars) was 3-9, Notre Dame like 4 wins. Seriously, people who are against Harbaugh at this stage of his career are either idiots, or trolls who clearly don't have lives if they are commenting on other teams message boards.

08/26/2018 - 7:23pm But i thought he was a…

But i thought he was a generic 3 star that Harbaugh only got because he is desperate and can't recruit anymore?

I'm actually really excited for this game. Good MW game.

This is also the only time we will ever care about UMass and Duquesne.

08/25/2018 - 1:06pm Georgia was 8-5 last year…

Georgia was 8-5 last year. They returned everyone and got better at QB. Why not us?

08/24/2018 - 2:07pm I think we are…

I think we are underestimating Notre Dame a bit. Sure it seems like a good matchup on paper, but this is still a dangerous team that was a couple bad breaks away from beating Georgia.

08/24/2018 - 2:06pm Except Hoke was never a…

Except Hoke was never a coordinator. When he did become a coordinator, it did not end well for Oregon. His talent development skills were lacking, but by all accounts he was a good recruiter.

Also I'm pretty confident Hoke would never treat a walk-on like McElwain is accused of, nor would he ever bang a shark.

But, Hoke would also never win a championship as a coordinator.

08/24/2018 - 1:38pm This confirms what I thought…

This confirms what I thought of McElwain. He's a very knowledgable coach (you have to be if you are the OC at Bama and had success at Colorado State) but he just lacks the leadership to be the head of a major college program. He's much more suited to be a position coach or an OC for a team with solid leadership.

08/14/2018 - 8:13pm Why do we want this? Lets…

Why do we want this? Lets keep our talent as long as we can, and then watch them get drafted high.

08/08/2018 - 2:11pm After five years of…

After five years of undergraduate, a gap year, and two years of graduate school, I started my first job at age 26 and immediately started saving and placing money in my 401K. A year later I talked with our company's financial adviser and he was gushing about how great it was that I started saving at a young age and how far ahead of the game I was. Its free money that is only going to build over time and will allow you to retire earlier.

08/08/2018 - 2:07pm I assume most of the posters…

I assume most of the posters on here are an older crowd, but here are some life hacks for incoming college students:

1.) Never ever resort to the all-nighter. It never ends well.

2.) If your professor has office hours, stop by and visit, even if you have nothing to talk about.

3.) Be friendly to your RA. As a former RA, I know for a fact that RA's have favorites and they let their favorites get away with a lot. They also have good advice.

4.) For the most part, make sure you get good sleep. However if you have a big test, I've always found it beneficial to wake up early and do a cram session the day of. The information stays fresh.

5.) Don't limit your social circle to the people in your dorm. People will go their separate ways at the end of the year, go to different living situations, and it becomes harder to maintain contact with them. Join some kind of club or activity.

I met a guy on counterstrike the other day who said he's friends with one of the GAs. He said that Milton will start vs Notre Dame, and Patterson will be moving to slot receiver. Peters will move to TE. He then killed me and then Tea bagged me.

If Stoops does for some stupid reason goes to Ohio State, I hope he brings Mike Stoops with him.

08/03/2018 - 3:56pm I'm calling bullshit on this…

I'm calling bullshit on this. Stoops retired in part because his dad died coaching on the sidelines at a similar age. In addition, the game was starting to pass him by. His recruiting rankings were down before Lincoln got there, and his defenses were not adapting to todays wide open offenses. In addition, I doubt Ohio State has begun looking at coaches when they haven't even fired theres yet. I'm saying this all as ab Oklahoma fan and alumn.

1. Has zero connections to the Midwest, and a nice gig right now with a team in a nice city, little competition, and less pressure to win.

2. Prime candidate

3. Interesting idea that might work, but needs to have one hell of a year with MSU this year

4. LOL

5. If he hasn't left Utah by now, not sure he ever will.
