isn't it just as likely that some of Michigan's under the radar recruits jump up, since they will also get scouted more?

not sure what the caveat is point #1 when the likelihood of a bump up is just as likely as a bump down, especially since these kids are supposedly under scouted, leading to their current rankings... a guy like Ojabo for example has made a jump up... i would expect the drops would be evened out by the risers...

07/15/2018 - 12:02pm He is dead to me.

I'll be…

He is dead to me.

I'll be curious to see who Beilein Watts the kid that's next in line?

07/14/2018 - 3:07pm Carton had given OSU a spot…

Carton had given OSU a spot in the top 3 even without a visit IIRC... so it seems like he always had a soft spot for OSU for whatever reason...

was there a previous connection between him and OSU's staff?

Disappointing, but not at all worried with Beilein at the helm...

we'll see how Carton's career turns out compared to whomever Beilein picks up in his spot

07/10/2018 - 3:45pm pretty amazing story! Glad…

pretty amazing story! Glad to see Duncan get an NBA contract...

Beilein et al are the best talent developers in college imo

07/03/2018 - 1:01am its amazing how light this…

its amazing how light this kid appears to be in his commitment video doing the ladder drill... for a 300lbs 2020 kid to move that quick, it sure is impressive...

seems like a great kid from a humble family... hopefully nothing changes for them in the next couple of years

07/02/2018 - 7:22pm 9 wins should be the minimum…

9 wins should be the minimum.

its not an easy schedule, but Michigan has be able to win 2 out of the ND, PSU, MSU, Wisky and OSU group shouldn't they?

Its year 4... if michigan loses 3 out of those 5 games plus another versus NW or Nebraska? to get to 4 losses, that is awful

06/30/2018 - 12:18pm this guy is a kid with a lot…

this guy is a kid with a lot of potential...

he's definitely going to get a bump down the road

06/24/2018 - 8:50pm nice get...

getting a top…

nice get...

getting a top RB was really important for this class.

credit to the staff for their efforts

06/22/2018 - 4:57pm that's very very cool...

that's very very cool...

now that Michigan and CWebb are talking, i am hopeful that CWebb will rejoin the program.

06/22/2018 - 2:20pm presumably, with the…

presumably, with the Michigan offer and verbal, other teams will start to offer?

with Khaleke Hudson, its not like the kid was a complete... 386 nationally with 30 offers...

kid would have been a player at any school, not just the viper position

06/22/2018 - 12:27pm wow... really surprised that…

wow... really surprised that McDaniels made that much of a jump? Possible number 1 overall?

that would be quite the coup for Beilein et al if they could land him

06/21/2018 - 10:21pm Congrats to Mo!

not a huge…

Congrats to Mo!

not a huge Lakers fan, but definitely will be rooting for him in the Association.

validates his decision to leave as well... not like he ever needed it

06/07/2018 - 10:14pm definitely cheering for the…

definitely cheering for the Caps.

no offense to VGK fans, but the caps fans have been supporting them for 40 years without a Cup and 20 years since their last SC appearance...

i'm still not convinced VGK fans won't pull a Florida Panthers/Caroline Hurricane disappearing act once they aren't consistently winning.

06/06/2018 - 10:42pm Great News to hear...!

Great News to hear...!

was slightly more nervous after Quinn's article, so i am really thankful to see Coach B's tweet...

Hope that the Assistant coaches salary pool got a well deserved bump too.

06/05/2018 - 8:26pm wowza...

its like a brand new world here! will have to get used to it again...

i'd be scratching my head if i were part of the Wilson family...

i hope that staff has kept them in the loop at least about what is going on

presumably the person that downvoted you isn't an Oliver fan?

06/01/2018 - 7:38pm totally...“But then we come

“But then we come in and we’re learning middle-school drills, and I’m just like, ‘Wow,’” Livers said, shaking his head Friday after practice before tonight’s clash with Florida State for a berth in the Final Four.…

While Sanderson is in charge of transforming the bodies of Michigan players, Beilein takes responsibility for skill development. His approach emphasizes fundamentals like jump stops, chest passes and pivots so much that first-year assistant coach DeAndre Haynes remembers thinking at first, “Man, this is like you’re going back to high school."…

06/01/2018 - 5:39pm love coach B, but the NBA is

love coach B, but the NBA is a different animal...

not going to get NBA veterans to focus on fundamentals like chest passes...

as others have stated, i believe the NBA is less about coaching and more about managing a roster... its a league of Caliparis or Selfs...find the right mix of talent and then get them on the same page...

05/30/2018 - 5:32pm Thrilled he decided to

Thrilled he decided to comeback.

i think we'll see a big time leap in consistency in him in the upcoming year.

05/30/2018 - 1:27am sure... and i think everyone

sure... and i think everyone believed Harbaugh was way ahead of schedule in years 1 and 2... which is why people were disappointed in the double whammy of last year... both on the field and recruiting wise.

at a certain point in time, one has to turn the page from blaming hoke and RR... 2018 is Year 4 for Harbaugh, and even though his first recruiting class was a transition year, it was still 'his' class... so the roster turnover means that there are almost no Hoke recruits left on the roster.

Has Michigan suffered bad luck? Sure. But luck is cyclical...if luck is the determining factor between success and failure, the program is sure paying a lot of salary to Harbaugh...

some coaches seem to be able to manufacture their own luck...

05/29/2018 - 8:42pm absolutely agree with the

absolutely agree with the article.

1-5 versus MSU and OSU...

beating PSU and Wisky...? Wasn't that always the case before Harbaugh?

Since when did PSU and Wisconsin become big games for Michigan?

Its Year 4... expecting Michigan to actually be in the B1G title race seems like a low bar... at least it should. Michigan's stated goal every year is the B!G title...the 'narrative' only gets louder from this point forward.

I believe in Harbaugh, and love having him as the Coach and think that Patterson will win us at least 2 more games on his own... but we'll have to wait and see.

05/28/2018 - 1:36pm i thought Michigan had quite

i thought Michigan had quite a few targets on the D/L at both tackle and addition to Herron and Newburg... Hinton is probably a kid that ends up at DT... from my count:

harrison (doubtful, but Michigan is in the race)

In addition to these names, there are a number of other kids they have offered, but to be honest, there doesn't seem to be too much 'buzz' on any of them, so i don't know how likely any of those other offers would be to drop...

edit: i think the staff does want Fletcher, so if they don't i don't think it will be because they slow played him...imo at least

05/24/2018 - 9:20pm he sailed ship a long time

he sailed ship a long time ago.

not a position of need for Michigan, so i'd stick to kids who committed to the program

As someone

Best Wishes Ace!

As someone who has gone through and will be going through health issues, I find strength and inspiration in your stories and the strength you have show to us in telling them!

Hoping your recovery goes well and by the numbers and look forward to the future verbal jousting on the Mgoblog round tables!

05/17/2018 - 11:10pm Really can't say enough good

Really can't say enough good things about this opportunity that the two donors and the University provides for the players.

a lot of kids are not lucky enough to travel overseas, and certainly not with a huge group of friends...

watching the kids enjoying themselves puts a smile on my face... hopefully, a number of them choose to go on extended study abroad courses after Paris...

Never been to South Africa, but Toyko is an amazing city

05/16/2018 - 7:44pm Glad to see Mo is going to

Glad to see Mo is going to get some pretty decent guaranteed money out of this debacle....hopefully, he has a good financial analyst that can help him to invest that signing bonus wisely...

seriously hoping he doesn't miss a beat in the NFL and makes all those GMs that passed on him look like the fools they are.

05/15/2018 - 10:46am Beilein needs to retire as a

Beilein needs to retire as a wolverine.

Anyone that watched his pc or interviews during the tourney knows how much he loves the University of Michigan. He's a great ambassador for the University of Michigan

Hopefully they will also bump the salaries for the assistants too...

Folks just need to start filling Crisler the way we fill Michigan stadium

05/11/2018 - 1:17am i'm of the beilef that a

i'm of the beilef that a higher stipend and/or compensation based on the use of your likeness should happen.

IMO if would help level the playing field.... would it prevent crooked boosters from happening? no, but the sums they would need to pay out increases if it needs to be significantly higer than gauranteed stipends.

05/03/2018 - 11:37pm wow...that's great news.

Glad to hear things have gone so well!

All the best to you and your daughter!

04/28/2018 - 3:19pm yeah, i love Mo... but i

yeah, i love Mo... but i think people let their emotions get the best of them in internalizing his draft fall.

Picks have value, both percieved (ie what they are worth to other teams trading for them) and actual (contract value, opportunity cost of players picked or not picked).

an ACL is one thing... but football folks understand that, they know the rehab schedule, the process etc...

the Heart... well, that's another thing entirely... its a complete unknown and can literally end a players life...

The Red Wings Jiri Fischer's heart stopped beating while on the bench a long time ago... might have been the second scariest thiing i've seen in a sports event, just behind Clint Malachuk having his jugular sliced on the ice.

Hope Mo's condition is stable and can be managed... because he can be dominating force, even if the Raiders decide to use him situationally to reduce potential strain.

04/28/2018 - 2:27pm The NFL can judge

The NFL can judge talent.

What the NFL can also do well is Risk Management.... Maycock said this during the draft:  teams loved Hurst, loved his tape, loved his character.

But they were scared of his heart condition...

could be nothing, could be something that is catastrophic on the field...or doesn't allow him to play a snap...

He fell a bit further than i thought.. i was thinking late 3rd...

But if this condition is stable, the Raiders got the steal of the draft.

04/27/2018 - 9:36pm Feel terrible for Mo...

Feel terrible for Mo...

not super suprised though; the NFL is a business and is risk adverse....add in group think and i can see how Mo has dropped... in their mind, the picks have value associated with them and right now Mo's heart condition is a huge drag on his value...

i think that whomever drafts him (and i do believe he does get drafted) will get the steal of the draft when you compare pick value vs production...

hope Mo doesn't have to wait too much longer

04/27/2018 - 7:03pm Great week?Go

Great week?

Go Blue?

literally the most innocuous pro michigan in this thread gets 2 down votes?

04/25/2018 - 4:01pm since we didn't have a public

since we didn't have a public scrimmage, i guess folks will just have to read the tea leaves sort to speak.

the Defense is promising, with Brown, you don't really have to be worried about the D losing games... hoping that they are good enough to steal the program a couple of games this year good as they were last year, i don't think they were able to do that.

encouraging to hear all three qbs are looking good... if SP isn't eligible, we all need to pray to peters or dylan can take command of the offense.

04/20/2018 - 3:34pm For Matthews, there's

For Matthews, there's literally zero downside to this... gets to talk with NBA scouts and front office folks... gets additional time with Michigan's staff that isn't counted as part of the limits placed on student athletes...

Gets a feel for the process and will get feedback from the pros about what he needs to work on next year.

Good for Matthews, and I am pretty confident it will be good for Michigan basketball too.

Looking forward to Matthews having a big jump next year, as it can be argued that he's in line for Beilein's second year bump, even though it is technically his third year in the program, its only his second year playing in the system.

04/19/2018 - 6:46pm thank you for that post.

thank you for that post.

I know a lot of people are pulling for Grant to make it back, however, the lengthy delay on any medical clearance and Grant's own recounting of the situation made it appear, at least from this layman's view, that a full return was unlikely.

i was hoping he might be able to make it back as a backup... but your description is sobering.

That said, i am hoping for the best for Grant; seems like a helluva kid.

04/16/2018 - 10:44pm I love listening to Beilein's

I love listening to Beilein's press conferences... man is so genuine and humble to a fault... i am always struck by how he never fails to mention the University of Michigan and how he always thanks fans during these tournament runs.

add to that, he's a heck of a coach... and his integrity is beyond reproach.

He has a lifetime role at Michigan imo, in whatever capacity he feels comfortable at.

04/14/2018 - 5:24pm sure, but he already had 2

sure, but he already had 2 national championship at Florida and turned a Utah team into a National Championship caliber team in 2 years.

Don't like the man, but Meyer is a great coach.

Harbaugh is entering Year 4...Everyone on the team is a Harbaugh recruit now

regardless of what he inherited, all of the players will be gone by 2019, including his first recruiting class, which was handicapped by his late hiring.

04/14/2018 - 4:32pm can't blame them for

can't blame them for cancelling based on the forecasts.

however, they could have rescheduled if they had wanted too, but chose not to.

i think it was a missed opportunity for Michigan, especially to get recruits excited about the program.

however, at the end of the day, the biggest recruiting tool is winning games...not spring practice games

04/14/2018 - 4:11pm "Close" only counts with

"Close" only counts with grenades and horseshoes...

Meyer doesn't have to throw 'shade' at Michigan - he's 3-0 versus Harbaugh...and hasn't lost to Michigan while at OSU... 6-0?

04/14/2018 - 12:17pm good luck Mo!
thanks for the

good luck Mo!

thanks for the memories!

04/14/2018 - 11:25am Selfishly, i wanted him to

Selfishly, i wanted him to stay, however, I am not surprised, as this was expected after testing the NBA waters last year.

However, it was truly a pleasure to see Mo on the courts - he brought so much energy and passion to the game it was infectioius...

Truly one of my favorite Michigan players...

Good Luck to Mo - he'll always have Michigan fans rooting for him in the NBA

04/12/2018 - 11:31pm Despite the great 2017 WR

Despite the great 2017 WR class, I think not having a dedicated WR coach hurt michigan in its recruiting efforts last year, and now kids are taking a wait and see approach with coach Macelwain...

that South Carolina game was a brutal as any in memory, which is why i think many posters are so down... i mean after a month of prep they gain under 100 yards of offense versus the 40th ranked defense in the first half? That's as bad as the M00N game

Now if Shea is declared eligible for next year, i think the offense will look much much better and some recruits will take notice...still optimistic, but really based more on Shea being eligible...if not, its a total unknown...

but to be clear, the "no coach could do better" argument is running thin... Franklin won at PSU in the fifth year after sanctions gutted that program. 2 years under BoB before he bolted and then a Rose Bowl in Franklin's 3rd year.

PSU went from dumpster fire to Rose Bowl in 5 years.

04/12/2018 - 9:09pm Good Luck Ibi..!
sorry it

Good Luck Ibi..!

sorry it didn't work out for you at Michigan, but hope you land somewhere great!

04/10/2018 - 9:01pm thanks for your contributions

thanks for your contributions to the BBall program

Good Luck to you wherever you end up.
