Can we please stop with the politics?

Can we please stop with the politics. This site is getting ridiculous. I’m not talking about the front page stuff from Brian, I’m talking about the blatant political talk by so many people in many of these threads. I don’t care how you feel politically and I’m getting sick of being subjected to seeing this in a good chunk of threads. The subtle interjection by some to try and say how they feel is pathetic. This is a call for the mods to please start banning people who have to run their mouths about their political beliefs. At the very least please start a separate area for political conversation so the people who can’t help themselves can go there. Be kind to each other everyone and stop putting your angry comments in threads to try and get your point across. The vast majority of us don’t come here. Better idea, have an open mind and talk with friends about it, not random internet people. PLEASE STOP RUINING THE BLOG I LOVE!

A hard, fast, 100% no politics/religion (even from the mods) rule was the smartest thing this board ever enacted.

What makes you think that? Society is demanding the discussion to actually start happening. It is a difficult conversation to have, but we need to challenge ourselves, teach ourselves to have productive conversations on the topic. Maybe we can grow as a society. My entire generation was raised to think politics is a taboo topic, and I think it's done nothing but repress that conversation until it formed this toxic environment we are currently in. I mean Nazi's literally walked proudly down thru the streets of America last year, but we can't talk about it on MGoBlog? Fuck that.

I honestly can't stand politics in 2018. In the last 6 months, I've personally lost two good friends gradually when they found out that I had different political views than them. I rarely even discuss politics, but for some reason good friends of mine assumed that I was on the opposite side as them(in reality I'm extremely moderate), and I honestly don't care enough to assuage their assumptions.

I think I'm moving to S America soon, where literally everything is better.

My instinct wouldn’t have been to put Peru in the top 3 or 4 “talent producing” countries. I’d say Venezuela (though the women that still have meat on their bones have a reputation for being Gold diggers), Argentina, Colombia, Brazil.

Mexico tops all of South America though, and I’m definitely not biased at all.

Peru doesn't rank high in SA in terms of talent in that regard. My rankings would be

1. Colombia - Quantity + Quality (Probably tops in the world) especially the paisa region

2. Brazil - Quality but not Quantity

3. Venezuela - I've never been so going on what others say and pageant results but could be higher

4. Argentina

I’m pretty sure the whole Bolivia thing came about because of, possibly a typo, someone asking Brian to send another poster into oblivion for making a political post . Instead of oblivion, autocorrect or whatever, turned it into Bolivia ??. This was years ago and I may actually have imagined all of this, but for now I’m sticking to my version of history. I’m sure one of these guys remembers exactly how it went down.

No, pretty sure it's a reference to the Mike Tyson quote after he lost to Lennox Lewis in 2002 (or something like that).  When asked where he goes from here, he says, "I don't know, I guess I'm just going to fade into Bolivian."

So Bolivia(n) became a euphemism for some fictional place far, far away and someone started using it to reference getting bombed from the blog and it stuck.  That's my recollection anyway.

I'm talking good friends like people I was roommates at Michigan with who all live in different parts of the country. So they are people I only see a few times per year nowadays(mainly on trips to exotic destinations in S America), but we have an extensive history and have been through some shit together.

One thing I've found is that people who haven't found their expected level of success by age 30 start to cling to politics(needing someone to blame for their disappointment in themselves) and get a little desperate. I'm sure both friends will be fine as they are smart individuals, but I'm choosing to distance myself a bit while they get things figured out.
