If this is true, how could…

If this is true, how could the 13 big ten coaches/ADs possibly think they’d get away with this.. stupidity to no end

I don’t know. I wish so…

I don’t know. I wish so badly they do away with this new running clock rule next year, but that’d require these TV stations giving up new $$ they got for more ads. And that just never happens. May make people less likely to tune into G5 of weak P5 games, but everyone will still tune in for the big ones. Idk, hope it changes back but don’t think it’ll ever happen. Makes me sad

TE U!

Is there going to be…

TE U!

Is there going to be a hello post on Hogan Hansen soon? Would be fun to read up and see how the two compare / complement each other.

This is like going to the…

This is like going to the doctor with a broken arm and they amputate your leg.

There’s nothing wrong the the GAME. The problem is the obscene amount of commercials.

His exit was certainly…

His exit was certainly disappointing, but he was a huge part of finally getting us over the OSU hump and winning the Big Ten. We've a lot of great players & teams since our last title that couldn't do it. Obviously Cade wasn't without help, he had a lot of great teammates! But he played with great confidence and wasn't "faking" it, and I think that mentality (especially from your QB) went a long way with the whole team.

I’ve been to some rough ones…

I’ve been to some rough ones.. the Horror, the rich rod NW game in the snow/sleet storm in ‘08 I think. The trouble with the snap game. But by far I think 2016 & 2018 OSU games in the shoe were the worst. ‘16 made me so angry as we were the better team and just could not overcome those fucking refs. I couldn’t stand OSU fans celebrating their rigged win. Have never felt so cheated. And ‘18 just sucked cuz we were so confident going on and then just got our doors blown off, death by crossing routes.

But these past 2 years (& still going) have more than made up for all that mess above. God bless sports.

I worked in Cincinnati from…

I worked in Cincinnati from 2016-2019 and was very close with many coworkers. They were great people, and I'm close with many of them still, but they were HUGE OSU fans.. needless to say, I took my lumps mercilessly during that time.

We had an email thread pre-game, and post game I shared my favorite pictures from Saturday.

They let me know Day has a long way to go to reach Harbaugh's # of losses.. to which i said "Ugh, sadly he’ll never get there.. he’ll lay down and quit before reaching that foregone conclusion. You know, like his players on Saturday.

They pivoted quickly - saying they wished their players all faked covid in the 4th quarter.. to which I agreed, saying "Can’t be too careful.. better to keep punting and keep punting and keep punting and keep punting as long as you can.."

This is too much fun.

i'd say that score adds up to happiness in my mind

"During Brown’s time in…

"During Brown’s time in charge, the Michigan defense played man-to-man coverages on 48 percent of opposing dropbacks"

I will preface this admitting I am in no way that knowledgeable on the X's & O's, but 48%??? Feel like we were in man coverage on like 95% of dropbacks, and would only move to Zone after we were down 14 and our D was already shredded.

Hell after last year I'd be…

Hell after last year I'd be getting plenty chesty after a win in Madison, and super chesty if we get the W in east lansing.. I agree this Wisconsin & MSU team may not be as strong as advertised, but winning in Wiscy for the first time in 20 years and beating MSU, who every year makes our matchup their superbowl, would have me feeling niiiiiiice.

I, and I presume many others…

I, and I presume many others, come to this blog for an escape from the toxic bullshit in the "news". We're hear for Michigan news and fun discussions on the state of our favorite program's sports. Just 0 reason to throw politics intro a thread about a fun read about our program.

Damn, really going to miss…

Damn, really going to miss his recaps. I always looked forward to those hitting the front page an hour or 2 after gametime. Always seemed to perfectly incapsulate what went down and the pivotal moments.

Good luck Ace. Your Michigan content will be missed around here.

Too terrible to fathom…

Too terrible to fathom. Praying for his family today. Incredibly sad.

+20 in 16. Brown is so huge for this team.

Great call switching Wagner…

Great call switching Wagner to guard teddy allen in the second half. That length is so so valuable when you can throw him on a hot shooter.

I see this comment is in…

I see this comment is in negative point territory and I don't get it. Who the hell are we going to get? What coach has the talent to come in here and change the recruiting talent disparity vs OSU? There isn't one. It sucks but to be honest it'll take a miracle to catch luck on our side on the day we play OSU to beat them.

Back to the question though, who the hell wants to come here? Extremely demanding fan base, sky-high expectations, (assuming JH is canned) would have fired a legacy program coach who's been to a superbowl... Sorry to say it but the truth is we're not getting anyone better than Harbaugh.

It has been far from perfect since he got here but if you think we can snap our fingers and get a coach who changes our program overnight to a conference champion you're just not being real with yourself.

Yikes. If your CBs are that…

Yikes. If your CBs are that bad, you need a different gameplan. Just putrid all around. No pressure, horrible coverage from DBs, that's about game over in Don Brown's scheme.

I know we say "if it hits…

I know we say "if it hits your hands you should catch it", but man a lot of those throws in my opinion had way more zip on them than needed and make it tougher for the WRs to catch. I 100% agree there were a few drops today, but Milton delivered a few balls that were tough to catch.

It's only great when we're…

It's only great when we're playing bottom tier shit teams. Against capable offenses that can hold off our rush we get gashed. And it pains me to think MSU is in the "capable" category that ended up exposing our weak ass defensive backs.

On the bright side, we'll be…

On the bright side, we'll be .500 with 56 games left. Would've taken that in March.

I invested in PXG irons a…

I invested in PXG irons a few years back and they are awesome. I got the 0311 P irons 4i-gap wedge. They're expensive relative to other new iron sets but i justified them saying i'd have them for the next 10+ years and usually play 20-30 times/season. The ball just flies off the club face and have a much higher ball flight than my usual low-flight launch, and picked up about a club length on each iron (i.e. my 8iron goes as far as my old 7i). I'm a mid-single-digit handicap but they have other models that are more forgiving for higher handicaps that are less expensive too. Obviously not a necessity, but if you have the means they're pretty fun clubs to hit.

I don't know who's to blame,…

I don't know who's to blame, but I don't think Harbaugh and co. can completely escape it. With an athlete of DPJ's stature, aren't there more ways the staff could've gotten more out of him? With all due respect to Ronnie Bell who has been excellent 2yrs in, we're taking a ~1000 ranked guy and feeding him the ball, but we can't find ways to get it to the #1 WR in the country out of high school? Could DPJ just not cut it in the slot like Ronnie? Just feel like we could've done a better job getting the ball to a rare ELITE athlete that Michigan lands.

There's 40 fast, then…

There's 40 fast, then football fast. Not calling Taylor slow, but Swift's one-cut is deadly and he EXPLODES out of his breaks. I like the pick.

Van Jefferson drafted before…

Van Jefferson drafted before DPJ. Who would've thought that 2 years ago?

Player interviews would be…

Player interviews would be great. I’d love to hear from some guys that we’re great players but didn’t necessarily stay in the NFL, get a life update post-Michigan.

" In basketball recruiting,…

" In basketball recruiting, relationships and buzz-factor surpass tangible factors such as on-court performance to a large extent. "

Spot-on quote in that last paragraph, one that was a constant frustration under Beilein, even though it wasn't his fault. The relationships, "buzz-factor", and NBA experience of Howard paying off early, something that we just didn't have before.

Today was some of the best golf I've watched in a long, long time. Will be interesting to see how the weather affects play tomorrow. I'm on team Tiger but Molinari looks so steady right now; if he keeps it up he's going to be really tough to beat.

Raferty is a treasure of the…

Raftery is a treasure of the college game. One of the few commentators, in my opinion, that has the gift of adding to the experience rather than just narrating it. He doesn't force it like so many aspiring announcers do. One of the best, hands down.

My one complaint all year…

My one complaint all year has been that Michigan can dominate a half, but when the second half starts, if the other team hits a couple 3's right out of the break they're right back in the game... Today, we're that other team. Start hot in the second half, and we're right back in it. Let's go boys.

I understand your point and…

I understand your point and for a long time I 100% agreed with this logic that all student-athletes should be content with a full ride academic scholarship. But by allowing a student-athlete to profit off their name/likeness rather than just pay all student-athletes a pre-set amount, that sounds pretty fair to me. By allowing student athletes to be compensated for a commercial, endorsement, etc, this system could end up in paying the student-athletes that actually attract attention and drive revenue for the institution (i.e. the university, and wouldn't necessarily pay those that don't make as big of an impact on the field). It's a bit "capitalistic", but our society was built on capitalism.

This system wouldn't come without flaws. If two players work extremely hard and put in the same amount of effort, they're not guaranteed to benefit the same. An offensive lineman would never be rewarded the same as a skill position player. Having certain student-athletes earn some extra money compared to their teammates making nothing could undoubtedly create some turmoil and strife within a locker room. But while it may seem unfair, that is the reality of the entire sports industry. US Olympic athletes make morsels compared to NFL/NBA/MLB players. Less popular sports just don't drive the same revenue. And while those athletes from less popular sports may work just as hard or even harder to perfect their craft, that is the society we live in. Allowing popular athletes to prosper off their image and likeness is not evil or unfair, it's just the way that things are in our society.

Granted, to actually implement this and prevent under-the-table payments it would take a competent organization to carry it out, and the NCAA has far from proven they're capable of this. Completely shutting down under-the-table payments would realistically never happen which is a huge roadblock to this idea. But I still think allowing student-athletes the opportunity to make some money, while the they bring home millions in revenue for their institutions, is the most fair option for these individuals.

I 100% agree that players…

I 100% agree that players should be able to make money from their own commercials/endorsements from their likeness/image. But to your other points I'm not so sure. I doubt many high school kids would consider IRS trouble from taking money under the table, especially when it's gone on for so long and 99% of cases seem to go unreported. I don't think that the under the table payments would cease to exist at all, though the NCAA could at least make progress to stopping those payments IF they let the kids profit off their image/likeness through endorsements/likeness (which they should be able to do already).

I'm not 100% sure, but it…

I'm not 100% sure, but it always seems pro day 40 times are between 0.10-0.20 faster.. generally the worse a player ran at the combine, the more he magically improves at one's pro day.

Quote at top of the article: "We hate this for Josh and our team, as he was one of our leading scorers, one of our top 3-point shooters and one of our two best defensive guards."

Yeah those Levert injuries crippled our team for 2 years.. Those were some dark times around these parts.

Hell of a performance by Z, way to run the offense against a quality defense in OSU. Pretty cool for the kid from Lima to be the star of the show. Congrats to him and the rest of the TEAM!
