You keep using that word. I don't think you know what it means.
|3 days 15 hours ago||My bad||
My bad...carry on.
|3 days 15 hours ago||Religion||
The poster I was replying to directly mentioned Anti-Semitism. Thus, I was not the one who brought up religion. I sad that it shouldn't matter. We are basically saying the same thing: it doesn't matter what your race/religion is, in short, don't be an asshole.
Also, I replied to a guy who made an account today and has 0 MGoPoints due to being negged...and I'm the troll here?!?
|3 days 16 hours ago||Jewish Fraternity||
I don't think the fact that Sammy is a Jewish Fraternity shapes most of the people on this board's opinion one way or the other...at least I hope not. It doesn't matter to me if they are white, black, orange, Muslim, Jewish, Scientologist, or whatever; what happened is terrible and there should be consequences for those involved, irrespective of their religious beliefs.
I would argue that you bringing up the contributions to the endowment is more "subtly anti Semetic" (your exact words) than most of what is said on this blog.
|3 days 18 hours ago||Entitlement||
The biggest issue I see today with new undergrads, or more accurately 18 year olds in general, is a sense of entitlement. We have a recruitment workshop to teach our members how to ask useful questions to probe information about a person's character and how to do so without being creepy. Past actions are the best predictor of future behavior. There are a lot of these kids who have never had to work for anything and don't appreciate how much work needs to go into an organization to allow it to be sucessful. We try to identitfy this and target people with a sense of values and only getting what one earns, but that isn't always the case. Our pledge program helps to remedy the problem, but you can't fix an 18 year problem in 8 weeks; it's not possible.
|3 days 18 hours ago||My take||
As a Chapter Advisor for a Fraternity at the University of Michigan, I feel I can speak to this more than most. As a mentor to these men, I completely agree with the University sanctions and would stand by them 100% if it were my Fraternity that had been the damaging party. To the point that only a handful were the ones that did the damage, I would argue that in a Fraternity, like a team, you are always representative of the name on the front moreso than the name on the back. We choose who we decide to initiate into our Fraternity, thus we have vouched for their character. Any negative action committed by them is directly reflected on our character, both individually and as a unut.
We had an issue about a year ago where a small group of brothers did large amounts of damage to the chapter house. Long story short, those brothers are no longer in good standing with the Fraternity and have been sent to collections for an amount equivalent to the damage done. What bothers me isn't the fact that occasionaly damage happens, it's the lack of accountability by those that do the damage. If you break, something, fix it or pay to have it fixed, appologize, accept the fact that there are negative consequences and move on.
I only ask that all of you don't judge the entire Greek system by what you see in the news. Greeks do many great things that go unnoticed. Honestly, most of us are good human beings who care about each other, our school, and our community. Don't let the actions of a few drunked idiots change the perception of the entire system.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||R Squared||
I also looked at the R Squared value for the data for YSHS for both Offense and Defense.
Off - .3821
Def - .0005 (negative correlation)
The analysis, like that of previous starts says that experience (be it years since HS or prior starts) is substantially more important on offense than defense.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||2008||
After looking at the data, I was curious to see what the data would look like without the 2008 data point with 0 QB starts as that is such an extreme data point.
Upon further review, after removing the 2008 data point, the updated numbers look like this:
QB - .1324
OFF - .0634
TOTAL - .0966
This shows how sensitive data of such a small sample size is to data points on the extreme to either side of the scale.
|8 weeks 2 days ago||starts versus wins||
I plotted the data in excel and plotted each column versus wins to see what the R squared values would be for each position group. Results:
QB - .2157
LB - .0034 (actually had a negative correlation with winning)
ALL OFF - .226
ALL DEF - .0176
TOTAL - .2391
Seth's assertion that QB experience means the most of any position group is backed by the data. I was also very surprised at how much greater the correlation to winning offensive starts were.
|9 weeks 3 days ago||Hope and Competence||
Simply, hope and general competence. I want to be able to play good teams, namely Ohio and MSU, and feel like we actually have a legiitmate chance of beating them.
|13 weeks 4 days ago||leading tackler||
He has a very good shot at taking over the all time tackles record. The current record is Jarret Irons with 296, Morgan currently has 229 tackles. I like his odds of getting the 68 tackles he needs to set the record, if he can stay healthy. I see him being a captain and setting the record next year; he will deserve it after the adversity he has seen in his career.
|1 year 2 weeks ago||Traps||
In HS everyone in our conference ran inside traps. We were tought to "wrong shoulder" the trap to keep our inside shoulder in the whole the play was designed to go. My ability to take on traps was the only reason I started, so I very much enjoy traps. High speed collisions were way more fun than low speed collisions.

With his hair and the fact that he will start out at fullback/power back, the similarities to Tim Riggins are tremendous.
|1 year 38 weeks ago||Priority||
I would think anytime you can grab a consensus four star recruit from within your own state, that the coaching staff would make it a priority to do so. Then again, we certainly aren't hurting for dline talent that is interested in playing here. Essentially, I think he would be a solid get, but if he ends up at MSU or elsewhere, it is far from the end of the world.
|1 year 48 weeks ago||Here's to Penn State||
They played like their lives depended upon winning this game. They outhustled, outplayed, outshot, and quite frankly, out "give-a-shit'd" us in all facets of the game tonight. They won this game much in the way we had won games the past few years, with heart, grit, determination, and some timely shooting. They capitolized on every opportunity and embraced every bit of adversity that came their way, we did not; it's that simple.
Call it an overreaction if you want, but I miss the days of having the less talented team but knowing we had a shot to win anyway because our players would be the ones doing the little things necessary to win a close game. The only hope I have is that this loss (and I would have thought the embarassment at Breslin could have achieved this) lights a fire under our players and inspires them to play with the heart of a champion. I keep waiting for someone to have a Novakian moment that lifts this team to the level of play we have come to expect from a team this talented, and I will continue until it happens or the season ends upbruptly due to the absence of such a moment. A win over Sparty can cure most anything, and let's hope it happens.

Would that stop people from saying that Hoke can't land an "elite" skill player?
|2 years 4 weeks ago||ESPN||
ESPN confirms he is committing on Friday, and that we may or may not still be in the running; neither he, nor his dad are saying who his top three are.
|2 years 8 weeks ago||how many years||
How many years has it been since we have been able to say that?
|2 years 39 weeks ago||I liked the part||
where he said it was going to be weird running behind offensive lineman that were actuallly bigger than him.
|2 years 39 weeks ago||jeffrey||
Jeffrey to the Bears might be scary if he actually plays hard. If he and Brandon Marshall can stay on the field (ie not get suspended for the off the field issues) that duo could be difficult to cover, especially with the Lions corners (or rather lack thereof).
|2 years 41 weeks ago||Poggi and Isaac||
Poggi and Isaac didn't get any love from ESPN. Poggi being ranked only a 79 was probably the biggest surprise of the day sans Conley being ranked so high.

can troglodite and retardeder be used in the same sentence.
|2 years 43 weeks ago||5-tech||
Magnus, what do you think of his ability to play the 5-tech if need be?
|2 years 44 weeks ago||We aren't Ohio||
We don't have two separate types of offers. If Treadwell doesn't go Blue it will be because, A) he liked somewhere else better or B) he waited too long and don't have an open spot.
|2 years 44 weeks ago||my coach||
As my HS coach would say, "You can't coach give a sh-t!" I would much rather have my quarterback care a little too much and put the pressure on himself than someone who doesn't care. If you watch the video, it is obvious that this kid legitimately cares about being the best that he can be. His teammates will play harder for him because of it (this is already showing up in recruiting, people want to play with him, that is a big deal). Is he a bit raw as a quarterback; yes. Footwork and touch on his passes are coachable things, arm strength, competitiveness, and the desire to improve are not. I have all the faith in the world that with our coaching staff and his skills, he can be a great quarterback one day and like was previously mentioned, barring unforeseen circumstances, he shouldn't have to be the starter from day one.
|2 years 45 weeks ago||Mattison||
"This isn't cross country. They can run all over the place, but if they won't hit anybody, I'm not gonna like 'em as much." I literally laughed out loud when he said that.
I love how he talks about every single player like they are his sons. It is easy to understand how seemingly every recruit we have signed talks about the family atmosphere here. It is obvious that this group of coaches truly cares for every member of this team like they would their own son and wants them to grow as football players and as men.
April 14th can come soon enough.
|2 years 45 weeks ago||remember when||
Remember when Bobby Boucher came back at halftime and the Muddogs won the Bourbon Bowl?
|2 years 45 weeks ago||Horford||
Does anyone else besides me think that losing Horford was a huge loss this year? He looked really good early in the year. I haven't heard much about his recovery up to this point, but if healthy, he gives us a fourth legitimate big man. I am so glad I won't have to suffer through Smot getting dominated in the paint anymore. Don't get me wrong, I think he is a good player, but he cannot defend the post or rebound with 5s in the B1G.
|2 years 47 weeks ago||Agreed||
He has the frame to set an edge in the run game and makes good plays in space. I'll take him at Sam. If I remember correctly, you LOVED James Ross, so I will assume you project him at Will?
