CFB Risk Week 5 Recap / Rally Call - You Can Kill Him Afterwards, Irving

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on February 27th, 2023 at 11:45 AM

One of my favorite musicians ever is Irving Berlin. He was arguably the Godfather of Pop Music with his jaunty tunes and catchy lyrics in the early 1900's.

When I was young, my Dad would sometimes sing one of Irving's most famous songs -- Oh How I Hate to Get up in the Morning -- to get me out of bed. The abridged story behind the song is straightforward. Irving was drafted to the military during WWI, and one of the things he despised during service was the early morning bugle wake up call, and so he wrote a little ditty about killing the bugler so that he could stay in bed.

Thinking about it in retrospect, singing to me about murder was a bit weird, but then again my Dad also loves the Tom Lehrer song "Poisoning Pigeons in the Park."

Anyway.....today, I'm the morning bugler (except it's almost the afternoon), and I'm asking you -- Michigan's soldiers -- to get up and go fight. We had an excellent roll on Saturday evening that put OSU on its heels and secured a region to take a stars advantage over TAMU. In order to take advantage, though, we need y'all to get back into the scrum.

And if you want to go back to bed (even though it's almost the afternoon), just wait until after you take the 30 seconds to put in your move. Then you can take your shot at me once Irving's done.

Fight Instructions

(1) If you want an order aligned with Michigan’s current battle plan before you attack/defend, go to Michigan Risk Central Command. You'll get a few options to choose from.

(2) If you identify as a rogue, head over to CFB Risk and attack any of the OSU (gray) or A&M (dark red) territories.

While I encourage ALL of you take an order through the site as that is the best way to allocate effectively, for those of you who will not, but rather will remain a Rogue.... Please consider hitting TAMU today, especially if we can break one of thier regions.  We got lucky, TAMU down one region to four BUT within striking distance of SEVEN and we're up one.  Might not get this chance to turn the tide against them again.

On a personal note, my sister-in-law is a TAMU alumna.  She's a wonderful person, except is downright insufferable when it comes to the Aggies.  She reached out for the first time yesterday about their lead in CFBR.  Please help me make it the last time I hear from her about this.

Attacking any color red will do, but either OSU or the leader TAMU would be even better.

We only border A&M on one of those 7 regions, which we should break up, but they could realistically end up with 6 regions even if we allocated all of our resources to breaking up the Flint Hills region.  We would very much benefit from Texas and ISU getting favorable RNG luck to hold onto their last territory in those key regions.  We'd also benefit from Bama and Tennessee pushing West, but it would make more strategic sense to defend their current borders and push East instead of West.

turtleboy is right.  If you stopped playing, today is a critical day to come on back.  And if you thought about playing but just never got to it, today is the perfect day to sign up and get an order from the link.

Ohio State cannot be allowed to rebuild.  Take an order from the site.

Right now people from Texas are just assuming they are superior to you.  Texas A&M beating Michigan in Risk would be a similar upset to TCU beating Michigan in football.  It should not happen but is definitely possible.  The more of us joining in the fray, the more likely we are to restore order to the universe and do our part to limit the self-aggrandizing of Texans at our expense.  You know what you have to do.

Notes for next year’s game: no delayed start, that was a big obstacle to overcome, do not form an alliance with any Big10/SEC school, create a large bot army from the start, and crush OSU before doing anything else.

Find a ruthless bastard to plan the attack, a General Patton type.
