CFB Risk Day 7 - F*cking Sparty (They Still Gon' Die)

Submitted by EastCoast Esq. on January 27th, 2023 at 11:30 AM

Sparty was cornered yesterday. They had some powerful and some not so powerful enemies all around them with us pushing up from the South. So....what did they do? Attack us of course.

They threw 17 of their stars at Toronto (which was by far their biggest concentration of forces) and hung their hopes of survival on beating the biggest army in the game. And in a fight where we had an over 5-to-1 advantage....the luck of the dice favored Sparty. Because OF COURSE.

That's why we need MORE dedicated Wolverines. Our numbers went DOWN yesterday, which is not #TheMichiganDifference that I know. There are going to be outrageous rolls that go against us, but the more we can stack the odds, the less the b/s rolls will prevent us from winning. SIGN UP AND PLAY EVERY DAY.

Now, ordinarily the Sparty situation would be a very annoying problem. With Ohio State, Wisconsin, Penn State, and Georgia(?) next door, we would have to be strategic with our deployments so that we don't get our backdoor kicked in trying to eliminate Michigan State.

Well....thanks to our excellent Risk diplomats, that potential problem has been nipped in the bud! The greatest teams of the B1G have joined together in a corn-fueled alliance to take the fight to our other rivals in the SEC.

You read that right, we're joining up with Wisconsin, Nebraska, Ohio State, and Penn State to ensure that North America enjoys the fruits of Midwestern values, including borderline annoying kindness, good beers, and a bunch of people who pronounce "soda" incorrectly (I'm from the East Coast...sue me).

And notice who was NOT invited to the party....SPARTY. The Spartans are weak, petulant, and simply not worthy of the world conquering plans the B1G has set in motion.

So once again, let's go kill Sparty! And then we can all turn our attention to the SEC and ACC folks (looking at Syracuse, Georgia, South Carolina, Virginia...) who have staked out various territories in the Northeast.

With that said, Go Blue and f*ck everybody in our way!

Also, check out some fun memes below today's map.

Steps To Play Every Day

(1) Sign up for a reddit.com account if you don’t have one already

(2) Visit collegefootballrisk.com – Click Sign in with Reddit – Select Michigan as your team

(3) Join the Michigan Risk discord by going to https://discord.gg/9xtrWhyR

(4) Go to the "vetting" channel and type in your MGoBlog username and Reddit username.

(5) Once vetted, get your orders from the "orders" channel.

(6) Return to collegefootballrisk.com – Click on the blinking "target" icon at the bottom of the page (3rd button from the right), and then click on the territory you're attacking or defending.

(7) Talk trash with your fellow Wolverines as we prepare for tonight's roll.

How Does the Game Work?

It is up to each team to recruit players and coordinate moves. You can choose to defend any territory that your team currently holds or attack any adjacent territory. A "roll" happens each evening to calculate which teams have won which territories that turn based on the moves that were made by individual players. The ultimate goal is to conquer as much of the map as possible for your team. There are a number of different ways to do this, such as through recruiting players in sheer numbers or forming alliances with other teams.

The region bonuses could end up being a big deal.  I know we're in a truce with Wisconsin (and I'm not advocating that we break it), but once we rid ourselves of Sparty, Wisconsin will have one territory in 2 of our regions that we could otherwise get a bonus for.  OSU, I believe, already has a bonus for the Rust Belt, so that's something to watch.  If we let OSU gather region bonuses while we don't have any, that could be a real factor down the stretch.

Thank you for posting these. I use it as my reminder. With a daughter in HS basketball, sometimes it's easy to forget the rest of the world exists. I usually check MGoblog in the evening. Two nights ago, this reminder prompted me to make my move 10 minutes before the end of the day.

Now let's wipe Staee off the face of the earth. The sound of their women lamenting as the realize their "men" aren't coming home will be music to my ears.

It wasn't just sparty that got locked out of the Big Ten alliance... Minnesota was also.  Wisc probably wants to off Minn just as we want to get rid of sparty (and OSU seems bent on taking out ND and Tenn at the moment).  Penn State seems to be fighting off Georgia & South Carolina that a made forrays into the NY/NJ region.

OK, just joined. Not to take this TOO seriously, but wouldn't it be better for some of this discussion to happen on Discord instead of out here in the open. You know, spies...

I signed up on the Risk site but, for a variety of reasons, will not sign up on Discord. Thus I will not be privy to the meta plan. Should I therefore dedicate my moves to defense and try to protect areas bordering SEC territories? What is the best strategy for a lone wolf?

We have the most players in the game right now, but WE NEED MOAR!  Sign up and hunt Sparty and the SEC on collegefootballrisk.com, at least.

This is as fun as you want it to be.  Even if "fun" for you is reading (or ignoring) the daily posts.

Get as involved as you want, but we want to be the team that runs off-tackle 9 times in a row daring our opponents to stop us, BUT THEY CAN'T because WE  HAVE MOAR!

Got signed up the other day and bringing my 2 stars with me (vet from the previous two seasons).  I do have a question though.  I am pretty sure I was up to 3 stars at the end of season 2, what happened?

It’s going o be difficult to break out and expand while we are completely surrounded by our allies. If we can beat Penn State to Nova Scotia, that would be huge, because we could take zip south and take the fight to the underbelly of Georgia Tech.

The alliance is great for OSU and Wisconsin, but not for us.

it gives OSU access to more regions more quickly.

we need better access to other regions than we currently have.

whoever agreed to this current alliance got fooled
