I agree. Not a fan of the font choice.

I apologize for your comming to the board in a season like this. Not that the internet will ever be rid of idiots, but their prevalence here has suffocated the normal informative repartee.
|2 weeks 1 day ago||Interesting||
Mattison is onto something, I think, with the Safty swapping. I remember watching a predraft show with Bill Parcells and Bill Polian, and Parcells mentiond that if he were a D-Coordinator, he would essentially switch to a permanent nickel package with an extra saftey on the field due to the extra WR's and the faster tempo. This is thinking along the same lines (even though I don't know how useful it will be agains Iowa).
|2 weeks 2 days ago||Wait||
I've been following recruiting since 2004, and I have no idea who the hell Curtis Grant is.
|3 weeks 5 days ago||That's interesting||
Thanks for posting something informative. I'm hoping the Colts somehow aquire Martin in the offseason. Between what I know about the Colts (I had a friend who worked for them until last summer) and my impression of people like Mathis, Wayne, and even MacAfee (some through media, some through inside information), PLUS the fact that there are something like 5 former Stanford teammates, it seems like the perfect place for him to continue his career.

I wonder if the Coaching staff would have tried a few things.
1) Moving Schofield to gaurd, starting Glasgow at C, and Magnuson at RT from the begining of fall camp;
2) Given how the past few weeks have gone, just leaving Kalis in so that the presumed Bosch-Glasgow-Kalis interior of the line for next year could get used to playing with one another;
3) Most importantly: give Magnuson all of Williams snaps as the extra lineman du jour.
|4 weeks 1 day ago||One question, SC||
One thing that bugged me about "Max Protect" was that the interior of the line isn't helped as much by extra lineman as tackles are. Is this just my being dumb, or is this part of a reason why we didn't do more of it? Tackle over seems like an attempt to help out the gaurds by turning their tackels into interior-ish lineman. WHY NOT JUST MOVE SCOFIELD TO GAURD?

Other than having gone to the same university, they don't have any direct connection. Their careers there haven't crossed at all.

NEVER insult UM's Engineering program.
|5 weeks 5 hours ago||I agree with him:||
I think Michigan gets about 17-20 points in the game. The real battle will be whether or not Spary puts up enough. I predict a score of 19-17, Michigan.
A few more baseless predictions:
Fitzgerald Toussaint will get 23 carries. With 22 of them, he will get 45 yards. His other carry will garner for 40+ yards, which makes everyone in East Lansing (including M fans) shout "WTF" in perfect unision.
Jake M.F. Ryan will have a key backfield tackle late in the game to force punt from the MSU's 35 yard line.
Gallon has 8 catches for 72 yards. Funchess has 3 receptions for 102 yards and draws 3 PI penalties.
MSU rough's the passer 9 times. This will draw 4 flags.
Adrian Wilson has an interception and two PBU's.
Raymon Taylor plays solid all day-- except three plays which yield 70% of MSU passing yardage.
Frank Clark gets a safety.
Jibreel Black will be called, "The Threat II," and will be very disruptive.
Matt Wile hits a 52 yarder to close out the first half.
MSU: 31 carries, 164 yards, 2 TD's. This will NOT be a fun game.

I'll be sure to stop by. I have friends in Indy who would LOVE this kind of joint.
|6 weeks 3 days ago||Fake questions||
that will probably be asked in one form or another:
"Do you enjoy good things happening?"
" Did it make you feel bad when player X got injured, or are you a real bastard?"
"Player X had a bad game. Have you thought about flaying him?"
"Will you please give me a quote about player x? Something pithy and almost insightful?"
" Even though you are concentrated on coaching and improving your team, did you notice the criticism/ crowd noise/ player picking his nose/ some other non-sense?"
"Some players are injured. Please tell me exactly the Day/Game/Hour they will be healthy enough to return."
"Michigan state is next. Even though I know you'll say nothing beyond coach speak, please give me a detailed scouting report of all MSU players availible, starting with the Punter."
"Michigan State is next. Is it nightmares of spartans waking you up, or simply the uncomfortably moist feeling of your freshly pissed-on sheets as you contemplate your inevitable doom?"
|6 weeks 3 days ago||I hope this is the case||
When you get a jalopy running OK , you still don't want to take it on the free way.

impressed that they got the play stopped so soon. That looked more like a doll falling between a table and a wall than a human doing something human. Glad he's ok.

|7 weeks 10 hours ago||You are right!||
Hoke should delegate his playcalling to his QB coach. Problems solved!
|7 weeks 20 hours ago||Having been something of a passive observer||
In this whole, "Fire Borges" stuff, I think that people calling for Hoke's head are going too far. Borges being fired is something that should probably happen, and hopefully Hoke sees that sooner rather than later.
However, Hoke is just one of those people who is who he is. Is he a guy who is holding up a playchart talking with coordinators the whole game? Nope, and yeah that's probably a shame this year, especially last game. But seeing Hoke do things like interact with his players, congradulate them when they make a big play, console them when they make a bad one and more than anything-- keep everything behind closed doors-- means that, no matter how bad any individual is struggeling, they will keep plugging away.
In a very convoluted way, I guess I think that he's the kind of boss you'd like to work for and the type of coach you want to play for. I might be biased because he reminds me of my Dad (who is an Ohio State fan), who (I've been told) is the kind of guy who will take the heat from those above him, use strong language to correct the problem behind closed doors, then immediately "forgets" the talk ever happened. So yeah, I'm probably reading a narrative that isn't there, but I am willing to bet that something like this happened. Assuming that a signifigant change in play calling over the comming weeks (this coaching staff doesn't strike me as the type to chage dramatically on a dime), then I will still hold onto the notion that Hoke is a very good head of the program.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Question:||
Why do you think this?
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Here's a crazy plan to fix Michigans offense||
1. Stop doing those bad things mentioned above.
2. Exchange the fullback for a WR (Funchess-Gallon-Dileo). Not every play (I'm not asking for a miracle), but, you know, sometimes. On First down.
3. Keep the damn tackles at tackle.
4. Instead of spending time NOT doing #3, spend that time adding in any one of the following for the sake of viariety on 1st down: a) a stretch play; b) trap play; c) Student Body Right; d) counter trey; e) any pass play.
5. In the offseason, ressurect Don Croyell and install him as OC. I think that this would be the best possible offense given Hoke's predilection for MANBALL, Devin Funchess' presence on the team, and the future where George Campbell and Drake Harris will be streaking down the field.

|7 weeks 2 days ago||That quote always bothered me||
It seems to me that insanity is doing anything and experiencing something other than the consequences of that action. What Dr. Einstein described wasn't insanity, but outright stupidity.
|7 weeks 2 days ago||Serious idea||
I know he's at Arkansas, but Sam Pittman did a heck of a job here in Knoxville. Oh, crap: he's making 500,000 a year. Oof. I'd love to get a combination of Jim Chaney and Pittman to Ann Arbor, though. Lots of things have gone wrong in Knoxville, but those two guys were pretty dang good.
|7 weeks 3 days ago||Yes||
Because maybe then he can hear Borges say, "Lets just run Toussaint straight into a defensive lineman again", perhaps Hoke can chime in and say, "do something else".
I have never had a problem with Hoke not wearing a head set untill this game. He needed to tell Borges to STOP RUNNING THESE REDICULOUS PLAYS.

The thing I will be watching for: hoke bearing the headset. I want to see it. It will be a sign that he gets it.

You asked one of the questions I think most fans wanted an answer too. I can't blame him for deflecting, but askign the question is half the battle.
|8 weeks 19 hours ago||As a Colts fan,||
I have been curious to watch Trent Richardson struggle with the Colts. While RB *appears* to be easier to step into as a Rookie, I think that game speed, the playbook, and even developing a rhythm with the offensive line play a huge role in how a running back looks. I got to see the light come on for Richardson this past week for the colts in the second half verses the Seahawks, and I would imagine that Derrick Green would benefit from more carries.
|8 weeks 1 day ago||If the Mattison picture||
Makes him look like he's watching a fat guy devour a live chicken, this picture makes Hoke look like he just woke up underneath the table after spending the night with a bottle of Southern Comfort.
