No word on if he will use the "but Juwan" defense

What a lunatic.

A family member no less?

No worse way to take the wind out of your team's sails then to spotlight what a scumbag and deplorable human being he apparently is..

I know I shouldn't be joking on a post about something as serious as domestic violence—I read a report that she now wants to erase her complaint.

Still, with apologies, this comment reminds me of one of my favorite jokes: "Let's play carnival. Sit on my face and I'll guess your weight."

According to Beard's affidavit, an officer responded to a 911 call at just after midnight and was met at the door by a woman who identified herself as Beard's fiancée. The woman told the officer that she and Beard had been upset with each other for several days over relationship issues. Asked by the officer if the argument turned physical, the woman, according to police, said yes.

"He just snapped on me and became super violent," she said, according to the affidavit.

The woman said she took Beard's reading glasses from his hand and broke them. Beard, she told police, then slapped her glasses from her face.

Then Beard, "choked me, threw me off the bed, bit me, bruises all over my leg, throwing me around, and going nuts" she said, according to the affidavit.

At first I thought it could be another Mickey Joseph situation (just because I'd read he'd got home and it was just after midnight).

Mickey left the house to go interview for the HC job at Tulsa, they moved it to Zoom, so he went home and caught his wife getting railed by some dude...and snapped.

Sounds like charges are going to get dropped.

...but this story isn't the same at all. She called the cops and told them he was doing some crazy shit.

I see your /s but still have a hard time understanding you and OP connecting these events. Are you guys seeing Texas message boards lighting up with this whatabout? If not it strikes me as a weird strawman that hints at some insecurity.

I hope that dude's family is safe and he gets the help he needs and whatever other accountability is appropriate.

(Edit: a word)

I just went and looked, damn, you weren't kidding. Much like the incident a few weeks ago with the OSU player throwing a racial slur at Jagger Joshua. Michigan had zero role in the story, yet about half the posts on the RCMB thread about it involved Donovan Edwards. I've never really been one of those "I enjoy that my team's success causes you actual pain" type of fans, but it's gotten pretty hard not to be with their obsession level.

Obviously more details to come but via a cursory reading of the Texas penal code the fact it was against a family member AND involved choking raised it from a misdemeanor to a felony.  So yeah, this doesn't sound like a "I took a swipe at someone who yelled something at me" type of assault but instead a pretty violent event against a family member.

Horrible stuff all around and I hope the victim is safe.

Strangulation is a leading indicator that the abuser will escalate to homicide. There's been plenty of studies on the subject and I remember seeing a stat that stated a woman who suffers nonfatal strangulation is 750% more likely to be killed by the strangler.

Beard has put himself in the class of the most dangerous domestic violence abusers.

Beard has released a statement that he does not see how he should be punished in light of Brendan Gibbons and Rich Rod's utilization of additional stretching time.  Bold strategy.  We will see if it pays off.
